Quick, easy, tasty, fresh seafood meals. This area doesn't have many fresh modern choices to eat at. Hook Fish Co is an exception. It's a bit pricey, but if you want quality seafood, it's just what you have to love with. Nice patio area for seating as well. After lunch, it's a short walk to the beach where you can take in the beautiful scenery! Awesome experience. Will definitely be back to visit this place again!

We are always on the lookout for good fish and chips and this place did not disappoint! We were originally trying to make a run to ocean beach for the sunset but we got hungry along the way 😂. This location is small but there’s a lot of outdoor seating. That’s where I’d unfortunately have to ding them. You see… there are a lot of small furry friends outside. They’re cute but may not provide the best experience! Other than that, the food was great. Prices here are okay considering we’re within Bay Area. We got the fish and chips along with the poke and chips. The poke was very flavorful and it’s honestly my favorite part. The fish and chips was good though. The fish were small but they were on the thicker end. Definitely fresh. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for something fresh and delicious near Ocean Beach.

This is a popular spot for a reason. The fried fish is excellent, with a very light and crispy crust. Not greasy, and full of flavor. I also really liked their tartar sauce. The fish tacos were great, although the tortillas were bland and fell apart easily. However, the fish, veg, and sauce were really good. The chips and guacamole are a good choice if you need a side dish. The only disappointment was the fries. They were a bit over seasoned for our taste, and thin and soft. Service was really fast for how busy this place was. Seating is limited, and parking can be an adventure in this area. Worth the trip. I hope to come back here again.

Really tasty food! We loved the grilled fish salad and the deep fried fish pieces with chips. It was quite busy, but our food came quickly! There was also not a lot of seating because of how busy it was. We went on a weekday night.

OVERALL - 5/5 Food - 5/5 Drinks - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Ambiance - 5/5 What an amazing neighborhood place!!! With such fresh seafood. Food - We tried the Tacos (fried rock cod) and the bleached fish sandwich. Both were mouth watering food. One could see the individual spice on the rub for the blackened fish. So yummy. They also sell fresh fish. Great selection of fresh local caught fish for sale. Drinks - Limited drinks menu, but good choices. Great IPA options with some wines. Service - It was order at the counter, get a pager and find your spot kind of place. So not table service, but the staff was helpful and friendly. Ambiance - Loved the vibe. Extensive parklet seating close to the ocean. People standing around for their orders or trying to find a table. Almost a quarter of a block seemed to be taken over by the restaurant and the waiting foodies. A must try for all fish lovers. 7-21-2023 - Dinner - Table for 2

Great little fish / seafood restaurant! There is no seating inside, all the seats are outside. The street is not busy at all so it was a very confortable environnement. There is not many seats, so you might have to wait a but at rush hour to find seating. The food was great! The fish is super fresh and well prepared. The side were also fresh and tasty. Recommended if you are in the neighborhood.

Ordered: Fish and chips- a must, the crunch on the fish fry is 🔥🔥 and the fry seasoning is delicious. Hamburger- satisfying, not my favorite Chips and guacamole - chunky guac(which I like) and the chips were solid and structured. Crab cakes - a light dish to share. I did like the dressing on the salad. If you're a diehard crab cake person, go for it. I can see myself coming back for sure. Some of the freshest, flakiest fish I've tried in the bay area. High quality and worth a visit. 4 stars because there's still more Id like to try.

A hidden gem that is right beside Ocean beach. It is a casual, laid-back outdoor restaurant perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely meal. The decor is coastal chic, with maritime accents that enhance the overall experience. The fish is as fresh as it gets as it gets, the fish and chips is what we ordered with a side of local beer. 5/5 would recommend.

Such a great place! Definitely a gem! We took some take away fish and chips and tortilla with guacamole and ate it on ocean beach. Would highly recommend to take it away to eat it on the beach during sunset! The fish and chips was delicious and the sauce they put with the fries is also really good. The tortilla with guacamole were average and wouldn’t take it again. But just for the fish and chips and the location I highly advise to try this place! If you go on the beach it’s highly windy to be well covered!

The fish tacos are juicy, delicious, mouth-warmingly spicy and really messy. Pull your hair back, prepare with napkins and warn your companions before embarking. Also tried the fish burrito and the poke. Can recommend. You can get takeout and walk to the beach to feel maximally Pacific.

This is where you get fish and chips in the city. Delicate cod fish, light crispy batter. Perfection. The selection of seafood is fresh, and you can smell the ocean right outside. While first and chips is suggested, I don't know if there's a single wrong choice on the menu. Burrito is fresh and light, the salad is refreshing. It's a small spot but is well staffed, so a line outside is not a long wait.

Such a popular place! We came at 3:30pm and still a ton of people waiting. Grilled fish tacos and crab cakes are good. Love the hot sauce!

Listen, when I say this place is fire? Trust me because I really don't care for seafood. The first time I had fish tacos was about 8 years ago in San Diego. Those tacos were AMAZING! And then I never craved fish tacos again until I was going through old photos. So I took to Yelp and this gem comes up. Their entire menu looked great so a couple of my friends and I ordered: Fish Tacos, Crab Cakes, and Fish & Chips. They also ordered the ceviche style dish but I didn't try it so I can't comment on it other than it looked good too. The Fish Tacos are a 10/10. At first I thought, "Huh...this is a bit pricey for 2 tacos. I don't think I'll be full so let me order another dish as well." <--- You see this? Don't be like me. Those fish tacos have like 1 serving of fish each with a heaping mound of salsa on top. It's substantial. Also, that fish was a solid chunk and SO. FRESH. And the salsa on top was crisp and SO. FRESH. Heads up - fresh will be a reoccurring theme. The Crab Cakes were an 8/10. They're quite good but not your traditional kind of crab cake. They're not really crumb coated and fried. It's more like a bunch of crab meat shaped like a crab cake. But the chunks of meat were tender, juicy, and SO. FRESH. Along with the side of salad and creamy sauce on the side, everything paired well together. I recommend this if you want something light with some protein. Kind of like a crab salad. Now for the star of the show - THE Fish & Chips. 10/10 DEFINITELY recommend!! These beer battered babies are DIVINE!! The batter wasn't overly thick or oily. It's crispy on the outside but tender in the inside. When you bite it, there's a nice crunch but it's not too much. The cream sauce pairs very well with it too. And again, the size of fish in each one is a substantial chunk and it's SO. FRESH. Seriously, this place should be called Fresh Hook - fresh catch of seafood and customers. It was very busy when I went there. Despite being busy, everyone working there was super nice and attentive. One customer had a complicated order and spoke directly to the chefs to sort out her order. It was a pretty lengthy conversation but the guy never got mad and remained patient the entire time even though it was clearly making them behind with other orders. Several customers came up asking for extra items like lemon wedges or to go boxes and they were attended to almost immediately. Impeccable customer service! I will say the only downside to this place is the size. It's kind of a hole in the wall spot and only has 2 tables outside and a few benches with no tables. This can make it a bit difficult to eat and share with friends. My friends and I had our food on the railing of a bench area and opted to stand while eating. So if you want seated dining with lots of space, this isn't the place. But if you want FRESH seafood, great food, and even better service, come here!

The Fish and Chips were the best thing off the menu. The crab cakes were pretty small and a bit overpriced for $15. The ceviche was alright, tasted like the mango salsa from Costco mixed with their fresh fish. I’d come back for their fish and chips, but wouldn’t go out of my way for it again. Pretty pricey as well for two people, total came out to $55 and we still left hungry.

Outer Sunset establishment featuring fresh fish! They have built an awesome outdoor seating area that was especially nice on a sunny day after a long walk on Ocean Beach. I tried the grilled rock fish tacos on corn tortillas - fully gluten free. Overall the fish and avocado were good while the corn tortilla was a tad mushy. Chips and pico were delightful - very fresh! My husband had the fish burrito and thinks it is the best one in the city! Good selection of drinks including a gf cider. It was busy when we were there, but waiting 20 min was a-okay given the sun.

Hook Fish is a cozy/friendly outdoor restaurant near the ocean. There are better fish and chips in San Francisco. Hook Fish's version $19 for three pieces was fresh, good sized with crispy batter. I prefer one big piece like they do it in London. The fries were seasoned and not the bigger cuts of potatoes that traditionally come with fish and chips. It is served with a little cup of tarter sauce. It would have been bomb if they had malt vinegar available. Mushy peas would have been nice too but they don't have that. Be prepare to stand in line as Hook Fish is popular. At 8pm on a foggy Monday, all the parklet tables were full with a gang of people waiting for other patrons to finish their meals. Big parties will have to wait a while. The ordering system is at a counter and you get a buzzer when your food is ready. My food was ready in about 15 minutes after ordering. Kind of like Super Duper but with fish.

Went here on a Sunday lunch rush and it was packed. We took our food to go and ate it in the park instead of their outdoor tables. We ordered the Fish n Chips (good) and Guacamole n Chips (amazing) as well as their soup of the day (not my favorite). They don’t have indoor dining so I guess it’s best to dine here only when it’s warm out. They have a restroom and the staffs were very friendly.

One of best restaurants in SF I was. After I paid I got a little thing, which blinks red and vibrates when food is ready (clever!). I bought fish and fries plus rise and beans. 👌👌👌 It‘s cheaper there and the food taste better than some other places in SF. Ambiente is also great. In german: „Taugt extrem“ 🤣
