I appreciate the creativity like the sushi shave ice. Fun vintage Hong Kong decor. First I've seen. Thou the taste is only so-so. The Hong Kong Mike tea was just ok.. Still worth checking it out.

Pretty solid HK style dessert spot! Has all-the-fruit types of desserts and the more traditional not-too-sweet variety too. The decor inside is pretty cool - it feels like you're sitting outside the shops of Hong Kong. Would come again to try something new! They also serve eggettes / egg waffles and savory snacks.

Decent HK-style dessert shop! Huge menu with lots of dessert (and food, if you want to have a meal here) options. Fairly inexpensive and the desserts aren't too sweet. Kind of cramped, but places in HK would be cramped as well, so perhaps they were trying to create that atmosphere. Overall, had a good time and I'm definitely coming back!

Dessert Republic is a typical hong kong style cafe located right next to the public parking garage. They are a small cafe/restaurant that has a friendly waiter who was hustling to serve everyone as best as he could by himself. He recommended the black sesame paste and sesame balls (tang yuan). We thoroughly enjoyed all of it! You can also order to go if you dont wanna sit down and eat. Would definitely recommend if you want some thing more hong kong style from downtown san mateo!

This place has been in San Mateo for a long term and serves up the same great variety of entrees, snacks and desserts as ever. The quality of food is generally fine but it’s the extensive menu that stands out. Good place to go for HK dessert. Hidden in an alley next to the garage so have to keep a lookout.

I have been going here for the last six years and it never ceases to disappoint. With crepes, traditional Chinese desserts, and food shaped like other food (they have a dish of "sashimi" made from fruit and tiramisu that looks like a potted plant), it is an amazing place to go. The servers there are all very friendly and will also help explain anything on the menu and all the ingredients. Besides the ceiling painted to resemble the sky and the decor of feeling like you are in China, each table has a placard with buttons that make it very easy to receive service. Not to mention, the food always arrives quickly. My favorite dish there is the Green Wonder, but they also have fantastic garlic noodles, and be sure to try their Tofu with Black Sesame or Tofu with Red Bean!

Atmospheric, great if you're missing that Hong Kong vibe The selection of desserts is amazing. Has the traditional stuff to crepes and fancy molecular gastronomy. There's savory snacks, noodles and rice too A little pricey, but good service presentation and flavor

I love this cafe it's open late and the dessert is just amazing!!! The Super Mango is my absolute favorite. Their crepes are amazing and the Tai-chi almond and sesame paste is sooo yummy and different just what you need on a cold day! The owner is so nice and welcoming. I forgot my bag and he came out to the parking looking for me! Awesome place and a must try!

wow ,never had this kind of bad service before. We finished the dinner in San Mateo downtown, and walked to this place ordered some dessert. we decided to have a Togo order, while although the place is pretty empty, but we cannot wait inside, the outside is windy and a little bit cold , but since they only let us wait outside , have to cancel the order and leave with sick feeling. When I do business , I cannot make money from the customer and push them outside.

Love coming here with friends. They have many options from refreshing fruit to savory hot dishes. We got the egg pudding and the three different colored fruity desserts.

Huge menu of desserts and savory items. Have only tried the desserts but they are very good. Price point may be higher than some of their competitors, but the service is great, and they stay open later than most dessert places these days. Last but critical change to note: they finally take credit cards.

My passion fruit tea was made with real fruit and it was pretty good. The popcorn chicken could of had more flavor. Overall nice place especially because it’s open late and the staff are great. Edit: went again and drinks were way worse dropping it to a 3/5.

We been here before a couple of years ago. The store serves authentic honkong street food and dessert. As I know, they only open at night. When you come in, it feels like you are going back time wise with the interior decoration. The menu has grown since our last visit. I feel overwhelmed with the menu. There are too many to choose from. We ended up ordered egg puff, almond and black sesame paste, and ginger egg puding. They are good except the egg puff, kind of not as good as before. The service was good, and the server was responsive.

My favorite dessert place. I go there every week. Yes, this photo is a dessert not raw fish.

The portion is small. The taste is salty. They also charge you for water.
