πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸŽŒπŸ£πŸœπŸ˜πŸ±πŸŽπŸŒΈπŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ I went here during the Cherry Blossom Festival. I had so much fun. There were some live performances (sōran bushi), many artisans, and street vendors and street food. Highly worth visiting during that time. Also it's right in the center of Nihonmachi.

Worth a visit if you are in San Francisco! Japan Town is very small when compared to China Town, but the shopping and restaurants there make it a really fun destination! Definitely make time to eat! The mochi ice cream and donuts were awesome and there are many options for Japanese food. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

I’m a native San Franciscan and my parents owned a restaurant that faces the Peace Plaza as shown here. History buffs will enjoy the sculptural relief prism which stands near the Post Street sidewalk. The Peace Plaza separates the two sides of the Japantown center with family style restaurants and shops where you can buy kimonos, music and many Japanese items.

Nice spot in the middle of Japantown to meet with friends or just hang out. There are plenty of places to sit and it is easy to find due to the large pagoda that soars above the two mall sections of Japantown. There are also many interesting plants that you can look at while you wait for your friends to come. Overall, a nice meeting spot!

A MUST see in San Fran. Beautiful plaza connecting two halves of this huge indoor mall. SO many fun Japanese shops and restaurants, you can come back again and again just to try different foods!

An fantastic experience! Visiting San Francisco? JAPANTOWN is a must see and visit location. You park at the mall garage that have a lift up to the mall. Is it a phenomenal experience as you get to see many shops selling unique products and gifts. Additionally, all of the food there are mouth-watering! Is it extremely affordable and will definitely light up your taste bud. Overall, I'm definitely coming back here if I am ever in San Francisco.

Great place to get some food or Icecream from the local shops in the plaza and then just chill outside. Went here on a nice sunny day with a few friends and did just that. Each of the 2 main plazas were open and busy with people everywhere. Lots of neat Japanese restaurants and shops to go explore. I highly recommend getting some Japanese Matcha ice cream as it was delicious.

I wish I'd gone to Daiso first, but I still would recommend going to Japantown, as we loved the merch and spent a lot, have your money ready!

It's a paradise if you enjoy art and Japanese culture! Went with some friends here, where I bought a chainsaw manga and characters sketches book. They have some nice looking restaurants there, along with mini stores for souvenirs. If you're coming to SF, and you love Japanese culture or anime; I highly recommend you visit.

Interesting mall to buy something particular from Japan or East Asia; however, the highlight for me was the bakery (Jina Bakes) which is absolutely worth a visit (see my other revision of the place)

The Japantown Peace Plaza is located between the two wings on the mall, connecting the two sides as a passage way. Really neat area surrounded by so much history and culture. Glad we didn’t miss exploring Japantown while in SF!

Very popular social and shopping spaces for both locals and tourists. It offers various and unique dining experiences as well as cultural merchandise. You will never walk home empty handedly or hungry.

We came to explore japantown on a Friday. The place was packed and there were alot of shops, food vendors, dessert shops. Inside the mall looked pretty cool, it looks like a Japanese house. We got the Japanese roll cake, takoyaki, a drink. If you arrive before 12pm, parking is only $2 an hour.

It was my first at Japantown and I simply loved it!! There's many places to eat and their Ramen is the best! Cafe Maiko is one the best matcha tea places πŸ˜‹ it gets very crowded, so I suggest having a lot of patience πŸ˜€ πŸ˜‰

If you love Japanese culture, food, anime, etc then this is the place for you!!! There's the Kinokuniya bookstore, gift shops, plants, figures/merch, manga, stationery, you name it. Not to mention, there are always tons of events (art, cosplay, performances) year-round and great restaurants everywhere. These pictures don't do the area justice. Come explore! 🌸

Not much here, other than Daiso, a neat little store, with lots of great fines. Definitely worth checking out. Prices are wonderful!

this is a very nice open area with a beautiful pagoda and monument. there’s also a rock with a plaque on it which gives details on when the Japantown Peace Plaza was dedicated. you can easily get to both the east and west malls from here so it serves as a convenient meeting point.

A beautiful and charming slice of Japanese American culture in the heart of San Francisco, this plaza has awe inspiring architecture, display pieces of Japanese cultural history, and a mall of shops catering to Japanese American interests. A nice place to visit and spend some time and money regardless of our cultural background.

Very cool spot, but not much to do except for sit around. Many restaurants and shops to walk around. Was there for maybe 5 minutes

It been many years since we have been here. Nice place to spend the day to see all the shops and have lunch or dinner. Very busy at noon time. We managed to find a restaurant that still had seating to enjoy a bento box.

I Love Japan town, I'm sad that a lot of shops have shut down due to covid. But it's still a fun place to visit with lots of unique foods and eye candy. You must visit Daiso , It's the Japanese $1.50 store, some stuff is a little bit more, but mostly $1.50. They have a lot of unique and fun stuff to buy.

Started and ended here on the self-led Japantown History Tour. Lots of signs to stop at and learn about the SF Japantown community. Loved the tour, not a fan of the square. Surprisingly filthy and smelly. But the Peace Pagoda and a trip to Daiso made it seem slightly better.
