Great for medical care, and you'll need it. Because their billing system is unable to get things straight. This means you'll get massive bills that should have gone to your insurance company. Of course, UCSF billing won't have taken the time to actually talk to your insurance company to understand what was filed incorrectly -- they'll just bill you directly. Next you'll spend hours on the phone having stressful discussions about why you're getting a massive bill and why they haven't had an actual human conversation with your insurance company to sort out the error -- even after you've talked to your insurance company and then also to UCSF to indicate the billing was done incorrectly. Will they ever talk? Who knows! Then UCSF says they'll call your insurance company, but they won't. They also won't call you back when they say they will. It's a fun surprise and you'll enjoy the theme park like excitement, except this is life and death of your finances. All this will lead to higher blood pressure, so you'll need more medical care, which is also great for UCSF -- it's a good thing you've found a fantastic hospital. The cycle repeats indefinitely and will spiral out of control until you die. Their problematic billing issues have happened to us multiple times, and it's sure to happen to you, too. Good luck, have fun, and die early!

Excellent facility. Staff and care is exceptional. Several courtyards and gardens for family and friends to relax while waiting. Nice views of Golden Gate Park, the Presidio and downtown Huntsville from several terraces around the student union. Parking is of course a bit pricey. The do offer discounts for handicap and UCSF badged personnel. Food options are limited but good. Food vendors close at 6:00pm.

I can not thank UCSF enough they are absolutely the best. My son just had a heart transplant and i was able to stay by his side throughout his hospitalization. All of the staff went out of their way to make our stay the best they could. I want to thank you all. May God bless you all.

Recently had cervical spine surgery at UCSF. I have been in several other hospitals in my life but have never been treated better than here. The entire staff from when I checked in to the day they wheeled me out was excellent. Truly made me feel like I was the only patient. Thank you!!

This hospital is absolutely AMAZING. I had a cyst in my spleen that my family and I had no idea about, and when I was transferred in from another hospital, they took EXCELLENT care of me. From the nursing staff to the surgical team, everyone has been great to me. They’ve answered all our questions, kept us informed of any plans/procedures and treated us like family. I’ve loved my entire experience here.

This review is not for my surgeon, anesthesiologist, or nurse staff. This is directly for office representatives. I’ll never be back, and I’ll never refer anyone tot he care of UCSF. Peoples health should be at the utmost importance, the lack of care, bad attitude, and blatant disregard for the needs of patients is unbelievable. I’ve never had a worse experience in my life regarding them. The financial side is laughable. They add to the bill every month and even my insurance was shocked. Too bad, the students and doctors deserve better.

I spent three nights in Nero department being observed for a seizure disorder and can't say enough good things about the care I received. Everyone from doctors to person that collected the trash was kind and friendly. Not that I want to spend any more time in the hospital, but this was a wonderful experience.

Things changed for most hospitals in the nation since covid. It does not matter where you go. Just like Dennys, jack in the box or any other business. Hospitals are short staffed. Not enough nurses etc. Delay in a service, disorganization is not intentional. Nurses are getting twice if not three times the amount of patients they are supposed to have. For the same pay. They are doing the best they can given the situation and need to be appreciated.

Cold, uncaring bureaucracy. Impossible to get any appointment for any serious condition in any reasonable time. Some referral reviews take up to a month. ER has 10hr waits. The word "medical care" does not really apply to UCSF. But I am sure they do fine research.

This a review on their billing, not hospital service. They incorrectly charged, incorrectly billed our insurance, lied to us about California law, and after many discussions refused to fix with insurance provider directly. Our son was born on 9.28. They send us a bill on 4.15 for the birth and discharge of our son. I call on 4.28 in which they admit they did not charge my wife/sons insurance (they charged mine which rejected it as duplicate). Another bill comes. I call on 6.30, after talking to wife/sons insurance. our insurance sates UCSF incorrectly billed and that they called UCSF to get it resolved. 7.24 I get another bill. we call UCSF they provide no further information. they state that we have to pay as it goes towards our sons deductible. However that is to true, delivery charges are included in wife's insurance deductible. They refused to reach out to insurance company to resolve.

The sad part is my PCP is no longer at this campus. The upside is the parking garage maxes out @ $7 if you show yr disabled placard! No matter how long yr wait at the lab is, though they have stepped up the service there. If you are disabled & need to park at the ED, make sure to park in the ED disabled spaces b/c if you get out after hours or on a weekend/holiday,you get to pay The normie rate. ♿

My sister was a patient there before her passing and the staff there that attended to her care was unbelievable they did such a remarkable job. I would like to say thank you to them for the care they gave her and the help they were to us as well. This is a place where your loved ones can get the best care possible ❤

This December, it will be two years since I ended up at UCSF PARNASSUS after waking at 3am feeling like I was dying, vomiting copious amounts of blood. The team of doctors who had my case were amazing! They didn’t think I’d make it the first two days. I didn’t want to live. I kept trying to write, “lLet me die!@ but was so weak they couldn’t even read my writing. I tried so hard to write but couldn’t get my hands to do what my brain was saying and I was intubated. I spent two months there before I was transferred to a transitional care facility. I cried when I left. I’d made friends with the nurses and didn’t want to leave them. My feet and lower calves were so swollen, I couldn’t stand, let alone walk. I am still in the nursing home and still can’t stand or walk but, that’s a whole different story! Today, I am like a new person. I want to live! I want to get out of this wheelchair and I desperately want to get back with my sweet Siamese, the love of my life. I have worked so hard and each day I’m closer to leaving. I’ve lost so much weight, I’m so much stronger and started PT again last week. The food at UCSF is varied and you have a menu to choose from! I can’t say enough wonderful things about UCSF. They are well run, organized, and compassionate. Their health care workers are astounding! I wish I could thank each and everyone of them in person!

UCSF might employ some of the best staff in the country. This review isn't about that. This is about the following: I've been waiting for many months to have a nasal/sinus surgery. They require someone to pick me up after the surgery, which is outpatient. However, unlike literally every other clinic or hospital that I've had procedures done, UCSF would not / could not give me a specific time for when I needed to get to their hospital, let alone a time for the surgery starting. How is someone supposed to just completely clear their entire day for a 30-minute outpatient procedure-- let alone have their family member/friend/etc ALSO be free essentially the entire day? For such a renowned hospital, this policy is awful and should be abolished.

Came here waited 4 hours. They made me go outside to get covid tested came back neg so I thought I was good to go into the lobby and wait ( with 10 other ppl) figured they all were tested and in the clear so I wasn’t worried about it. Come home the next few days I start having covid symptoms I don’t go anywhere due to covid I am one of the safest people.. now I have covid because they lack in keeping people in the waiting area safe. It’s a mess Going to the hospital just to get sick smh

After months of trying to work with this organization I am left with no other though that they truly don't care about their patients. I leave voice mails, phone calls, emails, I get sent in circles. their customer outreach service took my information and " would get back to me" that was almost a month and a half ago now. From someone who worked in healthcare, the unprofessional ism on the admin side of this organization should be fineable. My health and finances have both declined attempting to seek treatment with this organization, and they don't seem to care at all.

My mom had neuro surgery here to correct her epilepsy and the surgeon did an excellent job and her epilepsy was completely cured. She had to wain off of her meds slowly but she never had a single seizure again. This is why I am giving UCSF 5 stars. I really wanted to go to medical school here as well but didn't get the opportunity too.

I truly hope this review reaches the correct person/people. Currently, if a patient at UCSF passes away, their MyChart account is instantly rendered inaccessible. A patient’s MyChart account holds almost if not all of a patient’s medical history/information and is extremely useful for patients and relatives of patients. For example, if a parent’s child passes away, the parent no longer has access to their child’s MyChart account whatsoever. This puts even more strain on the parent/family member to get information they want and or need from the MyChart account. I understand that this is most likely due to HIPPA laws/legal reasons, but I feel that parents and family members would somewhat appreciate being able to access their loved one’s account for at least one month prior to it becoming inaccessible especially if the parent/relative has established proxy access to the account. This would give the parent/relative enough time to gather the information they need from the account before it is closed. Again, i hope this will reach the right person so that maybe some kind of arrangement could be made to change this. Thank you.

The nursing staff was great but the hospital felt my son’s insurance wasn’t good enough and moved him to a sister hospital in the middle of treatment. The sister hospital basically bounced him out and denied any further treatment for the same reason.

I have spent 2 times in this hospital. One want a 5 day procedure for an infection and the other 1 for an operation. Which I was there for about 14 days, each time I was treated with most respect and to whatever I needed.

This is a combined rate: 5+stars for nurses (they amazing!!!!!) and 3 stars to doctors. And again some doctors deserved 5 stars (attending doctors change every 3-4 days, then they will pass you to the next doctor). By the time the last doctor during my son’s admission took over, he completely misrepresented the diagnosis all previous specialists had given my son based on test results and history of the illness, as well as the main reason my son was admitted to the hospital. He also refused to provide a consultation with specialists my son’s PCP requested. Beautiful view from a private room on 13th floor

I was here during the height of the pandemic. While tensions were on the rise, the medical and supporting staff were impeccable with their bedside manner, professionalism, safety measures, and the way they cared for me and my family was amazing

Was here for almost 13 hours before I had to release myself because it was just uncomfortable to sit in the hallway with fluorescent lights beaming at me after a head injury. I had a nurse yell at me while I was trying to walk off my numb legs so I just left. Not ideal but folks weren’t being very nice once 6am rolled around. The doctors were capable and very nice but the wait and the in between care was horrible. I didn’t even get a pillow or water while waiting the entire time and it wasn’t even busy; many of the staff were lounging around which is fine but at least get me some water and a pillow. Now I don’t really have guidelines on what to do so I have to follow up with a PCP and other doctors to get a better idea. It was okay at first but the ending was just a really bad experience.

The best doctors and nurses I have ever dealt with. I had my son here in September of 2015, and they did an amazing job on my c-section. You can hardly tell it's there. They have an amazing NICU and take very good care of their patients.

I was admitted for spinal tumor cord surgery on Parnassus in Dec 2015. My surgeon was among the nation's best. This well known outdated state teaching hospital is well below all earlier reputational standards. I was there 2 weeks as a result of my previous day critical spinal tumor surgery and subsequent heart attack during the night. I was to be discharged in 2 DAYS minus the heart attack. MY PARTNER AT A NEARBY HOTEL WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT MY HEART ATTACK. Afterwards I had become sick with diarrhea and had been unable to reach the toilet. The non-English speaking housekeeping staff never cleaned up then or during my stay. My bed linen was not changed in 2 weeks. Medical support staff was either absent or indifferent to housekeeping inadequacies and my personal hygiene and safety. I begged for a shower just before discharge. Bureaucrats strolled the hallways disinclined to even render a "hello." Publicly funded civil service staffed institutional ethos prevails. I feel as though I'm writing this from what could have been my grave.

Ucsf billing department is incompetent and borderline fraudulent. I had a referral for Dr Alessandro Villa at the Sol Silverman clinic. I confirmed on appt and reminder that is who I would be seeing. Apparently, he left the office and I was seen by someone else. This has lead to insurance issues. I have called multiple times to tell them how to submit. I am transferred multiple times, leave voicemails that no one returns. The woman in the office has asked me to email my original referral letter 3x which I’ve done and every time she asks again like she never asked before. My insurance will pay if this is submitted correctly. It’s like they want to make poor people pay instead of insurance. I have multiple health issues and the stress from this is making all of them worse.

I like to thank all the nurses, doctors and case workers at UCSF for supporting me during a very difficult time. My mom had a stroke, unfortunately she didn't make it, but the staff there made her final few days there very comfortably. I am forever grateful for their support.

I had surgery on my gallbladder. At the beginning, everything seemed to be going fine, but after the operation, strong scars formed at the puncture sites and bruises all over the stomach. I don't know if that's how it should be, but I don't think so. Vras should not have paid attention after the operation. Everything is somehow unorganized. Patients are not treated the best.

The administration (billing, scheduling, insurance) departments of UCSF are impressively disorganized. If not for good clinicians, it would be reason to leave.

  • 2/5 R 2 years ago on Google
Hopeless bureaucracy. I am trying to schedule an appointment, and get transferred from department to department. One department said they need more information, but did not even know what other information was needed, referring me back to my primary provider, who did not even know what this was about. I have today already spoken to 4 people, and still am not at the right person. The last call I was told to hold a moment, but then was transferred to someone's (I don't know who) voicemail.

The best Hijama experience, i had a severe shoulder injury that prevented me from working or even lifting a mug, medication and massage did not work, one Hijama session with Dr.Qasem and everything was gone like nothing happened—highly recommended for those looking for immediate results. Definitely my go to clinic.

Visitors beware! Covid-19 screening in the lobby is a mess. I had to wait 10 mins to get thru the front desk. Meanwhile, social distancing doesn't exist. People walking thru the area, people standing around, all mixing. They say it's for our protection?
