This
clinic/program
saves
lives.
Methadone
clinics
are
available
in
the
dozens
in
San
Francisco
but
few
have
the
professionalism
and
are
as
effective
as
OTOP
has
been
for
me
and
countless
others
that
I
know
personally
who
have
been
helped
here.
Typically,
methadone
patients
become
stuck
on
methadone
and
find
themselves
unable
to
graduate
from
the
maintenance
program
they
are
on
to
a
life
free
and
clear
of
all
opiates
(and
there
are
cases
where
that
is
the
correct
course
of
action
for
that
individual
patient).
However,
for
clients
who
desire
a
life
without
opiates,
unlike
many
clinics,
OTOP
clearly
helps
them
achieve
this
without
prejudice.
OTOP
delivers
treatment
that
is
appropriate
for
the
client
who
seeks
it.
The
staff
at
OTOP
and
SFGH's
policies
are
not
biased
toward
one
treatment
over
the
other.
They
maintain
the
hospital's
fair
and
honest
approach
to
patient
treatment
plans
in
the
execution
of
their
responsibilities.
The
patients
needs
and
the
outcome
they
desire
is
what
drives
their
treatment
at
OTOP.
The
staff
is
genuinely
positive
in
the
attitudes
they
exhibit
at
the
clinic.
They
are
completely
brilliant
when
it
comes
to
dealing
with
clients;
their
customer
service
is
one
of
the
best
I've
seen
out
of
all
the
Methadone
clinics
I've
visited
(and
there
have
been
so
many,
over
the
years).
Their
counselors
are
incredibly
well
educated
as
well
as
having
had
appropriate
life
experience
to
be
able
to
accurately
and
authentically
do
that
job.
I
understand
that
everyone
is
different
and
may
have
opinions
that
we
don't
share.
Personally,
I
feel
that
anyone,
given
enough
empathy,
is
able
to
help
anyone
else.
I
truly
believe
that.
And
I
have
had
counselors
who
have,
themselves,
experienced
drug
abuse
and
are
now
in
their
recovery
which
greatly
aids
them
in
helping
clients
within
the
boundaries
of
their
job
responsibilities.
For
clients
who
believe
that
the
only
people
that
are
capable
of
helping
them
and
other
addicts
in
general,
OTOP
has
plenty
of
counselors
to
choose
from.
For
clients
who
do
not
want
a
counselor
with
life
experience
that
includes
drug
abuse,
OTOP
is
equally
equipped.
OTOP
has
every
angle
covered
and
is
able
to
help
clients
of
every
walk
of
life,
philosophical
stand
point
and
individual
need.
I
trust
OTOP
to
save
my
life;
and
it
has.
