Live music, craft beers, friendly staff and good food with a child friendly environment. Ocean Ale House adds a positive vibrance to the neighborhood and I recommend it to anyone who's in the area.

All round lively neighborhood hangout spot. Live band and friendly staff. Though it can get too loud inside when the band plays. This review's rating rests solely on the Whisky Sour. It's zippy like the atmosphere. So don't underestimate this sweet tangy drink. It certainly got to me quick. This cocktail alone would bring me back! 🍸

Awesome drinks, awesome patty melt, awesome crew. Best beer stop in the immediate vicinity. Didn't get any cocktails, but it looks like they do all the classics. Be aware that their fries are actually (essentially) potato wedges.

Surprisingly one of the best burgers I’ve had in quite awhile, although you’re going to pay nearly $20 for it. Staff is extremely pleasant, friendly, and very energetic, so take heed if its first thing in the morning for you! 😁 Beer selection is somewhat eclectic, but suffers from the same thing that afflicts all of California; everything is super hoppy or sour and also $8-$10 for a pour (but they are generous pours). We did not stay for the music but sounds like it is frequent. Nicely unpretentious, the friendliness of the staff stood out, even if it was a bit too energetic for my sleepy self! Worth a visit and would be a great neighborhood spot to have nearby. Fairly large food menu and I’m going to assume the items we did not try, are likely surprisingly good for pub food.

My wife and I live in the general vicinity and heard so many great things about this place we decided to try it out one Friday night. The place was full but not packed - they have both indoor and outdoor seating availability. It was cool to see a wide diversity of ages for the customers, and it definitely felt like everyone was a local. There was a cover band playing dance hits, which made for a very fun vibe. Waitstaff was attentive and a wide variety of drinks were available. We’ll be back to try trivia 6:30pm Thursdays!

Great atmosphere, indoor & outdoor seating, music - Live Jazz on Wednesdays - the fries are amazing, food was great, and the selection of cocktails and draft beers are on point👍🏼 Owners are locals and also feature dishes and drinks using local ingredients and sourced as local as possible.

We haven’t been in the neighborhood very long, but Miles and the rest of the staff at Ocean Ale House make us feel like we’re home every time we visit - which is frequently. The food is some of the best bar food in San Francisco, locally sourced ingredients expertly prepared by a chef who legit cares about what he puts in the menu. The fries are insane and a must-order. If you want to, you know, drink, the selection of beer, wine and cocktails is long and does not disappoint. Yes, they make their mixers in house. The vibes are incredibly friendly and warm here, and there’s usually live music, or really good selections of eccentric and varied music piped through the speakers. Thursdays are trivia and it’s fun as hell, the trivia guy is like also a standup comedian. Oh and everything is affordable. If you’re thinking about it, just go. Good vibes only.

Amazing vibes, great beer selection, staff super friendly, they have live music 🎶. My friend and I stopped by bc we were looking for a coffee and a pastry, so we happened to need to use the restroom but the local businesses didn't have one. So at the end of our exploration around the neighborhood we found this gem. They allowed us to use the restroom (super sweet of them) so we ended up having some beers with a very nice convo!!!

Ocean Ale House is the best spot on Ocean Ave! They always have high quality and interesting drafts. Mike is a true gentleman and treats his patrons extremely well. Rare to find such great service these days.

I rarely write reviews but Ocean Alehouse truly deserves all the praise in the world. Not only does this place have excellent food and staff, they also offer a genuine atmosphere of community and inclusivity. Miles, the co-owner I’ve become most familiar with, makes people feel uniquely welcomed. It’s like having a community center that also served up great beer, sports on TV, and musical ambience. I’ve lived in many places and have never come across anything like it. Whether you’re eating one of their incredible salads (I know how crazy that sounds, but it’s true!) or indulging in their annual holiday cocktails, you’ll find something you like here.

Awesome drinks: not only impressive selection of beers, but also craft cocktails and wine. But most importantly jazz almost every day of the week! I highly recommend!

The Grub at Ocean Ale House is excellent 👍. I Love the Fish Tacos...the host Michael and his female cohorts are friendly and gracious. They are expanding and the whole redux will be done in February I think Michael said. They have local Jazz quartets play on a regular basis. It's a lovely place with good food and great staff. Always a pleasure and look forward to the Grand Expansion.

We were looking for a good food and beer place after watching a movie at the Regal Stonestown Galleria (that's another review), and Ocean Ale House came up. It was about 3 in the afternoon on a Sunday, so the place was pretty empty, but I can see how it would be very popular during prime time. Of course, all the reviews rave about the Fried Potatoes ($9), which we can attest to. It was just two of us, and we maybe ate half a serving. Did I mention it's a large serving? I ordered the BLT ($15), which was fantastic. My wife ordered the salmon salad sandwich, which I can't recall the price of, but she thought it was excellent, with plentiful chunks of fish. The service was excellent, with 3 employees periodically checking on us throughout our visit. Of course, we had to wash it all down with beer, of which they have plenty of from a variety of local craft breweries. Ambience-wise, it's pretty ordinary, but they are in the middle of expanding, so I'll reserve judgment for now. Besides, with such good food, beer and service, who cares what the place looks like!

Local beer bar with killer food. Also tall can take our for packs. I come here almost every weekend with my family. I can have a beer, kids can get a burger and we're all happy. The people that work here are really nice!!

Update: We went back ! So I had to review the place again. But I can't go higher than the original five stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ But I CAN add some photos and say "try the Papi Hemingway! I did twice. And I heard the Moscow Mule is the best" Here's what I said before (I LOVE this place, Miles makes it great) Excellent food, live music, and I apologize for a cliche, at this place it REALLY REALLY is the people, an entire staff of top-notch human beings, I've had the patty melt three times and ....mmmmmm

This place is amazing! Great beer, wine AND cocktail menu! The food is phenomenal and the menu constantly changes because it's all fresh and in season. Everything is ridiculously local so you really get a taste of the area whether you sip at your cocktail or you munch on one of the specials. The atmosphere is casual and fun, it kinda feels like your home bar regardless of where your from. It's just has that comfortable feel. The staff are genuine people you can chat with (if their not too busy) it feels like a place that you can be yourself in comfort.

You really have to try to provide service this badly. They were not busy at this time. Waited far too long for drinks after ordering. 2 napkins for 4 people when fries were served. No ketchup on the table or served with the fries (not everyone wants nasty mayonnaise with fries, thanks). Messed up 2 out of 3 burger orders - very clear that sending them back would have thrown the place even more off the rails. No silverware. Sticky gross tables. But this was really why I'm writing this review - we were charged $5 each for a tiny soda water that was mostly ice and they had the nerve to charge for a refill, I hadn't noticed until I looked at the receipt after paying. I am a former food server and I try not to be overly critical when I dine out, but sorry, yikes!
