Don’t be fooled by the old photos. This place is filthy and in a horrible state of disrepair. Graffiti, rotten food, and trash are all over the bowl. It’s just completely unskateable. Boards are popping up all over the place and it’s completely overrun by bikers. I just wasted $25 to get a ride there just to immediately take a ride back to my hotel.

It’s a solid mediocre skate park. Lots of kids but a good spot overall. Like any skate park I prefer early in the morning or at night when they’re closed.

Wooden bowl, wooden ramps. Bowl a bit damaged. Was pretty windy when I was there, making things challenging. Completely empty in the morning

This is a well loved, and well used park. Common courtesy was ample between strangers. The wood portions are rather forgiving, the screws and nails sticking out less so. I would encourage the city to tend to upkeep, and patrons keep their tetanus boosters up to date.

The city has dropped the ball on maintenance. They will happily police the building of the park but can't bother to maintain it..

I wasn’t using the Skate Park. I’m over 50 and that park is for kids whose bones don’t break as easily. I was on the softball Diamond next to it doing a softball practice with the ‘Masters Team’. Which is a fancy way of saying ‘old guys that still want to play softball’. I’ve always liked Balboa Park; and that’s because it’s not turf. It’s real grass. I just wish the city would spend the money to get it to drain properly. The outfield is swampy for weeks after a rain. And I’m a 50+ outfielder. I’m still grateful it’s not turf

Recommended for teens to wear a helmet! Skateboarding is less fun - the slope is between 45 and 75 degrees while the pits were 83 degrees angle. Also, the pit was not maintained, and some people got trapped in the pit. Also, the risk of an unbalanced skateboard is very high while these falls and injuries were at least 40% chance.

No parking most time and graffiti is a big issue here

Great access and practically always empty. Grateful just to have a skatepark here at all, and it's pretty dynamic as well. Good vibes.
