Wow, one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in recent memory. The food was EXQUISITE — do yourself a favor and just go. We went for brunch and every single dish was a standout, which is so rare. The rose nectarine pop tart was so perfectly flaky. We cherished every bite. The French omelette was simply gorgeous. Even the hot sauce we asked for for the potatoes was amazing because it had a hint of orange flavor. The smoked salmon plate’s trout cream was amazing and adding grapefruit was genius. We ate every bite. The mozerella dish had the plumpest fresh peaches and candied almonds. So many amazing flavors! Ugh and THE CHEESECAKE. It is made out of goats cheese — so unique and PERFECT especially with the sesame component. The interior is gorgeous and open and bright. We loved the service. Can’t recommend this place enough!

We have been trying to go here for a couple of months. It was so hard to find a reservation on Open Table, and I know why. The moment you enter in the restaurant the vibes and atmosphere is like no other. I feel like I am entering another time. Service is amazing, and dog friendly!! The movie yesterday was Christmas Story and I loved it so much. The food was so good. My boyfriend and I shared the curry fried chicken and it was amazing so amazing. The best date spot I would say, 100% would recommend. Also we got the cookies for desert, and I want to say they were divine.

all in all, very pleasant experience. food was pretty solid, but very overpriced for the portions. loved the carpaccio, and squid was cooked perfectly. swordfish was a bit over and the miso was not super strong, thai curry was a bit salty. favorite movie playing in the background, though we were seated inside so couldn’t get the full experience.

Place was super nice! We got a reservation to dine at 9.30pm and at the tome we arrived the place was still packed. The host was nice and gave us the table right away. We dine inside. There was a lot of noise, it made it hard to listen to the person seating across of you. We order for appetizer the Calamari and the Tuna Tartar. Both nice but spicy. Then we had a risotto (is not a typical rissoto but more like a salad), the pasta and the fried chicken. Food was OK, nothing fancy and a bit weird. The pasta was super spicy! It is a nice experience since the place is really nice, but the food in my opinion could do better.

We're international and were here obviously for the unique ambiance and it didn't disappoint. The entrance was very discreet (to us anyway, that being our first visit). I loved the decor and seating was well spread. The hosts were great, server was attentive, didn't care much for the bartender's attitude but overall the experience was good. Food portions were generous: we ordered Brandade grantineé, Plancha!, American Heritage pork chop and finished with Butterscotch and a cheesecake.

We were seated immediately with a perfect spot under the canopy with a heater on a rainy day. Our waitress was very attentive and this was some of the best breakfast I’ve ever had. I had the omelet and my brother had the French toast with a side of bacon. I also had a mimosa and we shared the homemade pop tart which is a must!

We went in for brunch on a cloudy day. They did have heaters on for outdoor seating. Food was good. Special mention for the ricotta, beets and carrots. Others had the champagne omlette and French toast and commented that was good as well.

The vibe was perfect. Loved everything from the walk in, to the seating outside under the tarp ceiling with plenty of outdoor heaters and movie playing. The waiter appeared to be having a rough day, so nothing held against them. They were still helpful, friendly and efficient. The food was incredible, great portions and reasonably priced for what you got. Highly recommend for a unique and memorable experience.

Classy and chic place for dates and special events. You need to book a table in a couple of weeks to get in a list for the time you want but it really worth it. The interior, food and service- everything is top notch. Their chief is a real master of delightful taste combinations. And waiters can sell you much more you were going to eat😁

I am so happy to have been recommended this place by friends. They were totally right; it's a MUST to try. Came here for a special occasion and I was very impressed with the ambiance & decor, the friendly service, creative menu selections, and or course the tasty food 😋. I would definitely recommend for any occasion -- the vibe is semi-casual, but it's very open and inviting. You definitely need to experience the outdoor patio setting and watch the films they display 📽️

Great dinner experience for 4 with The Titanic on the ‘screen’ for the night. We ordered everything family style so we could taste it all. Highlights were the pork chop and fried chicken mains. All agreed that pork chops are hard to do right but ordered on a recommendation and it didn’t disappoint. Would definitely return to taste more of their menu. The house collab IPA was also solid. Well done, Foreign Cinema!!

Great atmosphere. People are happy and the service is great. Food is good but not fantastic. We ordered the duck breast and pasta as our main dish. The duck breast is tender and tasty but the pasta was a little bland. Will visit again!

Good atmosphere, food took at least 40 minutes to arrive. Presentation was good but portions were too small. I ordered trio of cookie and i thought it will be garnished or filled with something but guess what they were actually 3 cookies simply put on a plate. I will not recommend this place unless they work on their menu.

I made reservations here for a Brunch December get together! Party of four for my friends birthday. The ambiance takes one back to old Hollywood, you enter to a long lobby, seated on vintage chairs and tables. We decided to sit outdoors since it was a nice day and so glad we did as we soaked it all in! I ordered the Duck dish and thought it was good, just not the best. The drinks were solid! Cocktails named in honor of past movies - that was cool! So why four stars? This is one of the only higher-end restaurant that I’ve been that did not include a “on the house” birthday cake slice or dessert. We ended up purchasing a slice to share, at least they had a candle. Tbh I would let it slide if this was a cheap meal, but considering the cost per entree and the cocktails… I expected more!

Great experience! The Outsiders was playing when my friend and I came for dinner and it was such a nice atmosphere with the twinkling lights as well. The food was great! We ordered the duck and the pork chops and the duck tasted amazing. So flavorful and a little smoky. The pork chops were very tender and was a surprisingly large portion.

I would rate 4.5 stars, if I could. Very friendly and helpful service, but the place is usually slammed (because it's delicious...) and it can take a while to order and then receive food. The food itself is fun and tasty, but feels like the portions could be a bit more given the price point. However, I'll keep coming back for sure!

Foo-Foo. Very expensive! But our server Nick was so wonderful. He was so attentive. My husband is allergic to certain nuts, and Nick made sure my husband's dish was perfect! Oh. The music was really..really nice.

Food was excellent and service was very good. The dining room got a little loud but wasn’t unpleasant. The fried egg was perfectly cooked and the Brandade was our favorite by far.

A must see. I had brunch there over the weekend. But it's not just the food that makes Foreign Cinema an unforgettable experience. The setting itself is a work of art. Dining under the starlit sky in the open-air courtyard, with classic films projected on the wall, creates an ambiance like no other. It's a place where every moment feels like a celebration of life, love, and exceptional cuisine

Get the dessert. The “birthday cake” chocolate cake was the highlight of my dinner. I would give this review 5 stars if we’re basing it off the dessert! The cookie trio was wonderful as well. The food was alright, I ordered the miso-yam and it could have had more flavour and depth to the dish. and my cocktail was delicious!

Great Restaurant with a great ambience & vibe. Went for our first wedding anniversary & the experience was a delight. The dishes were good to great & desert were delicious. They were also playing a B&W movie on the outside section. I believe their menus change almost every day. The guys there were nice people and treated us nicely. Great experience! Definitely recommend for special occasions.

Nice deco and who doesn’t love the combination of film and dinner? Food is good but also within expectation (I guess no one is dining here only for the food anyways). Great place to dine in with reasonable price for any celebrations or special events!

Great restaurant in San Francisco. Nice vibe, friendly staff It is a little bit pricey and food portions are enough or less. We had their fried chicken and five spice duck.

I was here for a small wedding. The location is a little unexpected, in a rougher part of town, but that only adds to the charm. It's a large place, with several rooms with tall ceilings. They project movies onto the walls. It had an intimate and soft feel to the atmosphere. The food was first rate, for our experience we had multiple small plates hand crafted by the chef, salads, scallops, braised meat. There was also a bartender, and the cocktails were exquisite and skillfully made, we got a chance to directly compare, coincidentally stopping for the same kind at a local bar right before arriving. I hope to come back for the regular service someday

Foreign Cinema is clearly popular and was packed (make reservations). We tried several menu items and only one was exceptional. The rest were ok. Maybe it's because we went on a Wednesday, but it seems like this venue is coasting on its reputation. Our waiter meandered around, paying more attention to the larger parties (idle chit-chat). The tables were old and the finish was worn and peeling. Support wait staff were good.

Excellent upscale spot for vibes and good food. It's a fun concept — sitting outside with the hanging lights while enjoying a movie projected onto the back wall. Food-wise, some notable favorites were the grilled lavender-brined pork chop, the grilled Monterey Bay calamari (just wow) and the Santa Barbara smoked salmon. Do give this spot a try if you are in the area and want to splurge a bit.

It was a really pretty outdoor place with a good menu. Vegetarian options as per my friend were limited, and we felt a little bit rushed by the server. Other than that I think I would have enjoyed the place a lot more at night than in the day with the lights and the actual movies screening. I got the duck confit and it was pretty good. It was a good brunch place but wasn't exactly great.

  • 5/5 Joshua Y. 1 year ago on Google
Vibe in here is great, but don't expect the movie to be a big part of it cause it's very backgrounded and you likely won't hear the audio anyways. The food and drinks are good. Expensive, but good. The server we had was really nice and helpful throughout the evening for us too. We stayed quite much later after their listed closing time and there were still others there when we left. Come for a date, or for some hangouts. Enjoy the space!

The duck is delicious, and the dishes are both interesting and tasty. Since it's my birthday, they even gifted me a special dessert and a postcard. The atmosphere and service provided were perfect. The warm ambiance in winter, combined with the outdoor movie vibe, makes it ideal for dates and special occasions.
