What an amazing view of this lake! Normally you would expect a lake to be at a lower elevation where you would climb down. But to see this beautiful gem of a place, we hiked for about 2 miles on rocks, boulders and uneven ground. The effort was totally worth it ! Very clear fresh water lake surrounded by magnificent hills. All your tiredness will go awag once you take a swim or dip your legs in the gorgeous blue waters. Expect to see cute friendly ducks around, and they can smell food from a distance. πŸ˜„ Parking was $5 and gets filled up very fast. Reach as early in the morning as possible to avoid crowd and sun while hiking. If you don't find a spot, park at Emerald Bay State Park area and walk up.

This was our 2nd hike of the day so we were already a bit tired. There are a lot of stairs and if you aren't used to hiking at these elevations you'll need to take a lot of breaks. There are also extreme changes in temperatures due to very shady or very sunny spots along the mountain. Dress in layers, bring a lot of water, and prepare for really amazing views. No one was swimming at the lake when we went in October so we were hesitant to jump in but we did bring our bathing suits and towels. Not sure if swimming was allowed or not but we wanted to be prepared in case. The lake felt amazing, water was cool but not freezing like Lake Tahoe.

AMAZING VIEWS!! The hike to the lake is definitely worth it! Would recommend hiking boots or shoes with good traction, as there are a lot of stairs and incline. The steps can get slippery from gravel/rocks. Once at the lake, you can hike around it as well. There were some people swimming (in August) but it was quite cold. Try to head out early. Parking is limited! The trail was definitely busier as we were leaving (around 11 am or noon).

If you're short on time and limited to one hike in Tahoe, make this your must stop. Please note that parking is very limited so you need to get there very early or be prepared to parallel park on the street aka the edge of the mountain with limited shoulder. The hike is short but steep on the way up with lots of rock steps. It is clearly marked so stay on the path otherwise it will be much tougher. The reward...an amazing view from the top of Eagle Lake and if you're brave enough, take a dip in the cold but oh so refreshing lake. Some people took pool noodles.

Amazing hike. It’s short but steep. Make sure to wear proper shoes as the trail gets rocky. Make sure to get a wilderness permit at the beginning of the trailhead. The parking lot gets full very soon and the trail gets busy in as the day passes. Additional parking available around. Take water and hike with care. Restrooms , maps and permits available at the base of the trailhead. Best views across the trail, lower eagle lake falls and eagle lake.

Hike was easy to moderate. on the way there, it's mostly uphill climbs. Not too bad as there are many areas to stop and take a break. The views were spectacular! Early mornings are best to avoid the crowds and the heat of the sun. Otherwise, definitely would do again.

A really beautiful isolated lake, that is worth the hike to enjoy. The hike up to the lake takes about 40 or 45 minutes. It is a well developed trail, but steep and rocky in places, so wear good hiking shoes. There is free parking and bathrooms adjacent to the parking lot. Many hikers swim in this lake because the water is so clean and crystal clear, and it’s also usually warmer than the waters of Lake Tahoe. Definitely a hike to check off of your list while visiting the area

This was a lot of fun but it certainly was not an 'easy' trail. There was snow, water, mud, rocks and other natural things that made the hike challenging. Of course, I did it with my family (3 kids ranging from 7-12 years old). It was about a mile or longer one way. We did the trip in May so there was still snow on portions of the trail.

Absolutely gorgeous. Crystal clear waters. Crowded as expected for this time of year. Kid friendly. One guy was next level and carried his inflatable kayak up for a paddle out to the island. Not going to lie, I was a little jealous.

Beautiful hike to Eagle Lake that took about 30 min after the bridge. This time of year there was snow and ice on the trail that made it slippery but was worth the quick trip up and back.

Great scenic walk up to the lake and many waterfalls and bridges to cross! Definite a great visit in winter, but the summer will be amazing as well

It is a truly beautiful isolated lake that is well worth the hike. The hike with a 10-year-old to the lake takes about an hour. Although it is a well-maintained trail, it is steep and rocky in places, and even in June it is very cold with melted snow running through it.

Beautiful hike, family friendly, the creek follows most of the trail. We had a nice surprise! Watched a cinnamon colored bear leisurely swim across the lake, what a highlight!

Nice morning hike. I would suggest wearing shoes with good grip for the rock stairs. Beautiful view of Lake Tahoe, while you hike up. Eagle lake itself was so calm and nice to set and look at.

So very beautiful and serene. Very much worth the hike up and too..eagle lake. The water was warm yet refreshingly cool. Felt smooth and clean. The hike around was fun and met some awesome trekkers and mountaineers. Not difficult to get to for any healthy able body. Children also can make this trek. A worthwhile day hike for sure.

Nice hike. It’s about 40 mins hike one way with majority incline which I’m not a fan but the lake is very beautiful and quite. It’s super worth the effort and I don’t regret it at all.

Snow shoed for the first time w/ buddies. What a dam hike; absolutely stunning. Lake was completely frozen and covered over. Took a little brew break before heading back. Def recommend.

Beautiful trail. We visited 3rd week of June. Unseasonally cool temps. Trail from 0-10 was around a 7 for difficultly but we did see some small children. The views are amazing! About 1 hour each way moderate speed.

What a stunning sight. The hike up was so worth it. Our pictures looked like we were sitting in front of a green screen, it just looks so perfect. The hike was lots of stone steps/rocks, but doable.

GREAT VIEWS ! Loved this hike! It's a really easy trail to follow to eagle lake and back. Ps: Parkings often difficult, Free permit box to keep track of people. There are stairs and you can swim at the lake.
