HORRIBLE. Just horrible. I had to go to the emergency room earlier this year because of COVID, once I got there I was told to wait outside with 103 fever in 37 degree weather, and once the nurse came out she gave me attitude because I wouldn't sit on a freezing cement bench. Once I was in the room I was shaking because of the fever and took them 20 minutes to bring me a blanket, and all I could hear was the nurses at the station giggling and making jokes. I got two bags of IV, and was treated as if I was a burden. Before I left one of the nurses told me not to come back unless i was dying.... and all after all of this I got a bill for $5,000... complete joke. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!

I have so many reasons on why this hospital should really being receiving no stars at all but this facility let my 10 week pregnant wife fall off the bed and not even take tests to see if she was even ok and withheld it on the release papers from the facility. Talk about shady under the desk type of โ€œworkโ€. This entire hospital needs to Be shut down completely, it doesnโ€™t matter what situation you have when you come in, thereโ€™s no reason for the mistreatment.

We're on vacation in Marin & my husband experienced a lot of pain in his chest for about 12 hours before we decided we had to go to the ER. The Marin Health ER waiting room was great and took him in quickly and everyone was very friendly & professional. After 2 hours there, I took my 8 year old daughters back to our hotel and while family stayed with them, returned to the ER with some of my husband's things as we'd learned he had to spend the night. My husband was in severe pain when I arrived, and by that time another nurse was assigned to him. At my husband's request I went outside the room to look for help. The attending nurse without looking at me said "I'm listening" so I couldn't really tell if he was talking to me. When I figured out he was, I let him know about my husband's pain and he came in to check on my husband and gave him a pain med. When it didn't help 15 minutes later, and my husband said he was in excruciating pain, I went back outside of the room to look for the nurse - who again said "I'm listening" while looking in a completely different direction" - so I again couldn't tell if he was talking to me. He then walked to me and toward the room hastily and said in a frustrated tone that I couldn't keep coming out into the hall, and continued to let me know the amazing he job he was doing in detail and that "you can't get better than that". I was furious because I was only trying to help my husband and stressed because we didn't know what was wrong with him yet - and there were also no signs stating I wasn't allowed to leave my husband's room and ask for help, never mind I haven't been in an ER in 20 years, so I didn't know. I lost my temper and the nurse and I raised our voices at each other and he threatened to have security come and escort me out of the hospital. A few minutes later, he angrily gave my husband the morphine he needed (shaking as he did this and also bumped into my husband - seemingly residual anger taken out on my husband). The morphine finally removed the hours of pain my husband had been in. When the doctor came in soon after that, I told him what happened with the nurse, and the doctor told me that wasn't standard at Marin Health, but I was in tears for an hour after. Really unbelievably low bar episode. Because the other nurses and doctors were spectacular, not sure how many stars to give.

My grandmother went for knee replacement surgery last week. The surgeon and surgery went well, but the hospital stay and aftercare has been a disaster ever since. We were promised updates on her physical therapy and aftercare but unfortunately we did not receive any follow up calls from any of them or the surgical navigator. My mom spent many hours trying to get a hold of someone that would finally assist her with figuring out her home physical therapy after 6 days. Most of the staff she got a hold of seemed very confused and not knowledgeable in regards to the next processes that needed to be done. My grandmother has been in a lot of pain, and continues to be and has already decided that she doesnโ€™t want to work with the hospital for any further surgeries. She hasnโ€™t even able to take a shower as she is still awaiting for the occupational specialist and physical therapist to go over the processes with her. While I know they may never read this review or respond, my family and I want other to know that there is the potential of a negative experience and want to save you all some time.

Youโ€™ve heard of killer Kaiser? Well, this place makes Kaiser look like a well oiled machine. I went to the ER at 11:22pm in severe 9/10 pain. Visibly uncomfortable, couldnโ€™t walk, sit, lay or simply exist without being in extreme pain. Required wheelchair assistance to get in and around. Triage nurse said โ€œit could be something wrong with your kidneysโ€. I finally left at 1:28am having not even been offered so much as a Tylenol. They took my blood and put me out in the waiting room doubled over in pain for HOURS with no end in sight. I was told by triage, and a nurse that there was only one doctor at the ER tonight. I called my doc and she said this is an emergency especially considering my recent surgery. She was shocked when I said Iโ€™ve sat there for two hours wreathing in pain without even being brought back at all. For all of my time all I got was an untrained nurse fishing around in my arm for bloodwork. Why are they taking blood if they donโ€™t even have space for people? Poorly run and DANGEROUS! When I left, despite telling front desk and triage, not a single staff member helped me. I could barely walk and they didnโ€™t care. 3 people from the waiting room ran after to help when I got to the doors outside. They were appalled. So am I. This place is the worse.

I went to the Labor and Delivery unit yesterday and was SO impressed by the care I received. First of all, the ward is absolutely beautiful - everything is so high-tech, spotless and comfortable. Secondly, the nurse who greeted me and treated me throughout my triage (Heather) was so kind, supportive, helpful and professional. So was the doctor who saw me (Dr. Streeter). We are visiting from out of town for the holidays so I was hesitant to go to a hospital that was unfamiliar to me, but I couldn't have had a more positive experience. Thank you to their entire staff for the incredible work they do!

I went to the emergency room because of a fall and back injury. I waited 6 hrs and finally left. In that time I had a cat scan and Xrays but never saw a doctor or got pain medication. I will never be seen in that er again. It is obviously understaffed. Pathetic. All of the people who were there when I first arrived were still there when I left.

If I could I would give would Marin General no stars at all. It is simply run so poorly that it was hard to believe. The doctors who actually see patients and work for the hospital are the worst doctors I have ever had to deal with. the hospital is so poorly run and no one picks up a phone. I believe my husband died because of their terrible care. I won't go on but whenI had 911 come and take my husband for care I told them not to go to Marin General but to go to San Francisco California Pacific Hospital. There was an accident on the bridge and so they had to turn around and take him to Marin. They phoned and said how sorry they were that they couldnt get him to the city. They knew what Marin General was like and felt terrible. Everyone knows what a terrible hospital Marin General is- including the ER. Won't even start about that place. But please go somewhere if you want to survive.

Understaffed, but lovely new rooms. Would definitely prefer more staff. The nurses were generally very good and caring, but short staffed and i rarely had same one twice...odd. Took 3 HOURS to get a CT SCAN (that they did after i came in an ambulance with extreme pain from cancer) read (guy who did CT SCAN was nice but was also only one there and he did the readings as well.) There was only one doctor on duty on A FRIDAY NIGHT!! THAT IS INSANE! When the doc finally got back to me, she rushed in, saying she had a doctor on the phone, told me the results in a way I didn't understand and rushed out again. I was scared, in pain still, and now confused. It was another 30 min or more before she came back in and gave me my options and answered my questions. It would have been better for her to wait to tell me anything until she DID have adequate time to talk with me. Also, dont expect much if you need help in the room. First, they put the help button above my head and didn't tell me so i had to wave at passing staff till someone saw me waving and came in. When i did press the help button there was rarely even a verbal response to ask what i needed. When the first dose of iv pain meds started to wear off it took over 15 min to even get someone to tell...so the pain got quite intense again. I seriously considered getting up and walking (would have been painful but i wasn't getting help via the help button!)to the nurses station i saw outside my door. My pain was quickly returning and i knew it would be back even worse if they didnt administer it quickly. They took too long and i was back in severe crying pain again by time someone answered my button call, checked with doc to authorize meds, and got it into me. That's exactly why I tried to get their attention with the help button...it took TWELVE buzzes before any response! No answer on speaker in room, no nurse or anyone. If you have to go there TAKE SOMEONE WITH YOU TO HELP YOU. Luckily, I don't live in Marin anymore, was visiting, and my local hospital is well staffed, particularly on weekend nights when there is the most need. I guess that's why it's no longer called MARIN GENERAL HOSPITAL, but a medical center. If there was another decent option in Marin County (Kaiser is much better in my experience with both my parents treated there) for non Kaiser patients then i would go there instead!

I wish I could give the emergency room staff and all the nurses and doctors who worked on me over the weekend more than 5 stars, because they deserve it. They made sure I was as comfortable as possible despite all the blood draws and tests. Anytime I hit the nurse call/assistance button someone was at my bedside in less than 5 minutes. While I hope I never have to go back there, if I do I can rest assured that I am in good hands.

Went to the hospital in pain. Waited for 2 hours to get my pain medication and to get discharged. This is the worst hospital I have been too. Leaving a patient sitting in pain for two hours is ridiculous and very very unprofessional. I will never come back to this hospital again. I didn't leave the hospital until 12:30am Wednesday morning. Had to drive all the way to vallejo on top of that. Than I was told that I had gotten taken out of the system and they had to put me back in the system. I won't be coming back to this hospital again.

One day the front desk lets 2 people plus a caregiver in, the next they only let 2 total. Iโ€™m here to see my dying family member and have to wait in the lobby because I canโ€™t go up today. While sitting here a family of 4 just waltzed right in to see who theyโ€™re in for. Nobody who works at the front desk is on the same page as far as rules go, they all need to be restrained.

please think twice before going here, especially if your in serious need of medical help. i came in the emergency room with a cut to a vein in mt hand that squirted more blood than I have ever seen. I couldn't even talk to a nurse. They tried to process me with an untrain security guard while the nurses took numbers of people in line that truly didn't look sick at all. meanwhile my hands were covered in blood! The lady at the front desk was extremely rude and acted unwelcoming and super unprofessional, asking me to stand and do unnecessary actions. Never offered me water or anything to help with blood or the pain. Truly disappointed. Next time i will call 911 or go to terra linda. SHAME ON MARIN HEALTH MEDICAL CENTER!!

I cannot say enough about the care I received in the emergency room. From the triage nurses to the outstanding doctors and technicians who performed x-rays, lab work, and a CT scan. ER visits can be daunting, particularly when unaccompanied. I was treated with the utmost respect, shown empathy, was correctly diagnosed and made comfortable the entire time I was there which ended up being about eight hours. Most importantly the nurses as well as Dr. Gromm listen to me regarding my symptoms and overall health concerns. Having had a couple of minor day procedures/ screenings in the past several years I have always received above standard care, however this was my first visit as an emergency room patient. I would like to make specific mention and gratitude to Dr. Edward Grom. He was thorough, kind, ordered and explained the need for all tests. I had been dealing with pretty significant pain due to pneumonia that was previously diagnosed elsewhere that was ignored by my primary care physician and I am so grateful I listened to / followed my intuition and I made the decision to visit the emergency room and I feel confident that I will fully recover. I highly recommend this hospital. thank you again for providing compassionate and excellent care.

First time here for a hospital ambulatory surgery. From start to finish this was an example of how it can be done. Great caring staff, kudos to your HR and managers for putting such good teams together both for pre-op and post-op. Hands down one of the best hospitals I've been to and I'm 74.

Best hospital ever the nurses and doctors and other staff are so sweet, and help you with anything you come into the hospital for. They even have a good sense of humor so that your not all down. Best hospital and I will definitely go back when I have a medical need. I will always choose Marin Health over any hospital when it comes to my care.

I had a stroke but thought it was just a bad migraine. I refused to go to ER because I don't like going to the hospital. Finally agreed to let my daughter take me 4 days later. I was sent to ICU at Marin General. It was a wonderful experience. The facilities look new and are very nice. The best part of my stay was the staff. Doctors, nurses, technicians were all great. Very caring and I would recommend this hospital to everyone.

I have used Marin General Emergency Services every year for the last 4 years due to my current state of health. Each time is a 5 hour excursion. Most recently was a 7 hour process! 2 blood draws took 2 hours each to process. 2.5 hour wait in lobby just to get in. No beds. Was stuck in hallway. Unbelievably substandard care here. 1 star. Nice facility though?

Go here never, no matter the circumstance. Go somewhere else, even if they donโ€™t have emergency services you WILL receive proper care quicker than this useless โ€œhospitalโ€. Care is not only slow, but entirely useless. All nurses appeared to not walk, but saunter in slow motion. Went in with a fully split collarbone and was diagnosed with a hairline fracture and was refused proper medication, this is a distinction a lamen could make. I know someone who sat in a room for nearly 24hrs with no service. No food, water, IV, medicine, or any clue as to what could be wrong. What is even the point? Waiting days to see a general practitioner with an emergency will get you better care faster than Marin general โ€œhospitalโ€. Be warned, be warned.

Was there to pick up a friend who was in a horrible car accident. The security officer took me up to her room when I arrived so I wouldn't get lost. He went out of his way to do so and the floor-cleaning gentleman brought us back down right to where I was parked. So extremely nice and helpful

ER is horrible. Cut off a chunk of my finger, was cutting chicken, waited 3 hours with no pain relief (they refused to give it because they were making me wait in the waiting area), finally stitched my finger back together, refused to give me antibiotics even though I waited so long with chicken juice on it and I implored them to give them to me, sure enough got a major infection, went to a real doctor. Not the first horrible experience with them. Whole family changed to Kaiser so we could get better care than Marin General/Health - etc.

Everything is great, but like most places in America, don't expect this hospital to take your nutrition seriously. I woke up to breakfast during after an inpatient procedure, and was disappointed with some things on the tray - juice, coffee, sugar packets, and margarine - as well as what was missing: fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They conveniently remembered the refined fat, refine carbs, and sodium. They conveniently forgot all of the most nutritious foods: nuts, seeds, legumes, and vegetables. Get it together, MarinHealth. It is wildly inappropriate to serve stimulant drugs (coffee) to patients, especially those who didn't even ask for it. And have some standards for nutrition. Check the United States Health and Human Services guidelines if you don't want to take my word for it.

I took my Mom to the emergency room recently for some chest pains. Most of the Nurses and staff were very helpful and nice except for this one Male Nurse. He was suggesting that we return to a clinic that we continuously have bad experiences at, he didn't seem empathetic about what we were saying. He had a bit of an attitude as he walked out of the room. Later on my Mom wanted to know about the x-ray results that he performed, the other nurse seemed surprised that the male nurse didn't return to explain them. She called for him again and said everything was fine, he did a little bit about at then he was out of there as if he had somewhere else that he'd rather be. I understand that in a profession like that it can be stressful and very busy but experiences like this make my blood boil.

Disgusting behavior from the nurses in icu. Do not ever go to this hospital . I was born here. My good friends is in icu and when I talked to the nurse about this situation she literally hung up on me - no joke . Called back and hung up again just to have somebody else help me painlessly and effortlessly . This is disgusting ๐Ÿคฎ.

wasted nearly 3 hours and $8000 for them to do less than the urgent care did. They never called back about what we should do or what the lab reports meant. Went later to a separate urologist who saw us thru in an hour, took more accurate tests, and scheduled us for a ct scan immediately. do not waste your time here

Entering the emergency department from the parking lot at midnight, after a 5 hour wait with numerous beds available, then my named is finally called. I would have been better having a paramedic assess my condition while I was experiencing the traumatic situation earlier at Sloat Garden Center, which is literally around the corner!!! Itโ€™s after 6am now, time for a cup of coffee.

Experience some sudden left eye paralysis. Waited 8 hours charged 1500 and the doctor did not exam me. I actually experienced a palsy and they could not even tell me that. I was concerned of sudden onset. No BP taken when I left. No formal check doctor just walked away mad sudden go to primary. Awful Experience.

I had eye surgery two and a half months ago and today I have pain in my eye and it is red, I tried to contact my doctor without success. I've been here in the emergency room for 4:00 hours waiting and I've only gone through triage, I've been here in the emergency room for more than four hours with pain in my eye and I haven't been examined by a doctor yet

This rating is strictly for Mike in EVS and Steve!!! The fact that this hospital constantly terminate the Black and Brown associates in EVS without probable cause shows me that the Statues may have been removed but, discrimination and racism still exist. The entire EVS staff needs to stand together in solidarity and walkout til a change is made!! The fact that Teamsters take out dues and never answer the phone for the employees is ridiculous!!

I have been trying to have someone contact me regarding my outstanding bill, I have called twice and received no return phone call. I went to Marin Health ER because I knew there was an infusion clinic at this location. I needed a three day infusion, my neurologist in Seattle said he could not write orders at this hospital so told me to go to ER to have the order written. I assumed day 2 and 3 of the infusion would be at the infusion clinic, NOT in the ER. This is specifically why I went to this hospital, because they have an infusion clinic at this location. After the first day of the infusion in the ER, I was told that the paperwork could not be processed fast enough for me to be seen in the infusion clinic the next day. So I was told to return to the ER for day two of the infusion. During day two in the ER I tried to get them to schedule it in the infusion clinic, they could not get me in, so I had to return to the ER for day three of the infusion. So now I am stuck with three separate days of copay for the ER, I paid day one, that one was on me. But the fact that they could not get the paperwork done fast enough to see me in the infusion clinic for days 2 and 3 are not on me. My insurance company has paid for 3 days in the ER, I do not feel I should have to pay for 3 days of ER admission co pays because of their facilities inability to get me into the clinic in a timely manner. I am surprised at the lack of coordination of care between the ER and clinics in their hospital. If you need to go to the ER, go somewhere else, the mismanagement of this facility will only cause you stress and frustration.

  • 1/5 Irwin F. 4 months ago on Google
Went to ER to have orders written for a 3 day infusion, as the hospital has an infusion clinic. My out of town neurologist could not write orders directly so told me to go to the ER to get the orders written. So day 1 in the ER, I pay $350 co pay -- told they could NOT get paperwork processed fast enough for day 2 of the infusion to be done at the infusion clinic IN THE SAME HOSPITAL, so told to return to the ER for day 2 of the infusion, once again charged $350 ER co pay, and once again they can not get me into the infusion clinic for day three of the infusion. So have to return to ER again charged $350 for ER co pay because they can't get the paperwork done fast enough for me to be seen in the infusion clinic IN THE SAME HOSPITAL.... thankfully my insurance company paid for all three days of ER admission, but now they still want me to pay the extra two days of ER co pays because of their own mismanagement and inability to coordinate care between the ER and the infusion clinic in their own hospital. I have called and called the billing department to try and resolve, no one will return my calls. Honestly the most poorly managed healthcare faculty I have ever been to. Go somewhere else if you can. The stress of dealing with their poorly managed facility, not worth it.

We came here to treat my father because he had syncope. They couldn't figure the cause and we left the hospital with covid. Some staff, like our doctor, Dr. Mundy, were not wearing their mask. They should given they see so many sick people. So not only do we have to pay a high cost for medical bills, we also left more sick. Both my father and I had covid after leaving the hospital. Overall the only nice thing was the nurses were nice and the facilities look nice but don't seem well ventilated. The doctor was arrogant and not friendly at first, and then after trying to request for a new doctor he less arrogant.
