The staff at the reception were extremely impatient and annoyed. They acted as if you were a burden. I brought my mom here, whose face was all swollen and was in pain. We asked very politely about the registration process and basically got shouted at because the staff somehow decided we weren’t worth their time. I’m frankly shocked that this is part of the usually reputable UC system. I suggest that the hospital provides training so the staff treat patients nicely.

For so long I struggled to get help with my teeth. They just kept getting worse and worse. I’ve been to a few dental clinics in Oakland and Berkeley and none of them were any help. It wasn’t until I got to UCSF that I felt cared for. I had a complicated case because of a bike accident I had in my past. The clinics in the east bay would always give me the run around, and make appointments that were months away. I heard from a relative about UCSF, they told me this place helped them and was more affordable. I made an appointment and got an evaluation. This dental clinic works with student dentists but has real dentists there with them. Everything the student does has to be checked my the dentist. There are specialists on the floor as well. I started going here in January and I am so happy I found this dental center. So far I’ve had a deep cleaning and a root canal from a specialist. My gums don’t bleed anymore, no cavities and no bad breath. My student dentist has been AMAZING!!! Dr. Singh gave me hope from day 1 and has been very supportive on my journey to fixing my teeth. He goes that extra mile for his patients and is very knowledgeable, I trust him! Now my step is getting a bridge for a tooth I have missing in the back. I was seen by 2 specialist and they gave my dentist the okay. I can’t wait to get it!!! For anyone reading this please make your teeth a priority. Look around you places and you will find help just like I did.

The dental staff at this location aside from the front desk staff are awesome. Everyone I encounter the day of my visit was extremely helpful and kind. However; the older lady at the front desk I believe her name starts with a P is beyond rude. She never greeted any of the patients who approached her window. Never said good morning or expressed any form of kindness. Her tone was rude and off-putting. While the other young lady next to her window was so friendly and polite. The older lady needs some customer care training because if it weren't for the rest of the staff at this location I wouldn't recommend for anyone to get dental services from here.

Incredibly poor service. The student dental trainees are always poorly trained in administration of the clinic rules so that over the years they have unnecessarily wasted hours of my times. This year has been a new low. I called in August for an appointment and since then I have had two appointments taking up hours of my time and received in total one quarter of a deep cleaning. I repeat, one quadrant of my teeth got cleaned during five hours at the clinic. Twice my student dentist has promised to call me when her next opening was available. She has never called. I've now been waiting three months for my next appointment. I've called the front desk countless times to get an appointment time and they never answer.

Echoing another review. “The staff at the reception were extremely impatient and annoyed. They acted if you were a burden.” I’m currently in the waiting room and havent been seen yet, despite an appointment. An hour later….. The front reception is understaffed. There’s no signage to assist direction for the patients, and guy rightfully gets annoyed when people ask a question. If there was simple signage things would run more smoothly. Even pediactric staff is annoyed by questions. They would rather just say “no” instead of offering help or an alternative. Smh

25 minutes I waited on hold. It was a simple cleaning appointment. After the cleaning my dentist says take a photo of this screen. It's how to get here because medication your taking inflamed part of your gums. So now I have 2 standing appointments. One here and one on Buchanan St now I have to figure out which one I'm going to. A simple problem. It's just at Buchanan St, NOBDY answers the phone or voicemails. All of the dentist I've had have been great If you have 25 minutes to wait on hold the Parnassus will answer. Buchanan you'd have to show up to make an appointment. Good luck

The young lady with fake eyebrows in the general dentistry department was very short and not very nice to the people coming to her window! However, the receptionist next to her, kristy, was So sweet to ALL her Patients. Greeted every one with a hello, how are you, and wished them a happy holiday when they left the area! It hard to sit in a waiting room and observe this disconnect with patients! Maybe she needs to go to another dept!

I received the worst dental care and customer service here after trying for years. they also discriminate against you based on many things . I decided to get my dental care somewhere else who have more respect for human beings . They also called me for scaring me by a doctor who is in charge of their patient relations . she was very accusatory and added more salt to the pain. My insurance paid for all the covered treatment and still their billing office keep sending a bill which of course I am not going to double pay but they still try. Beware of these liars specially one of the health sciences associate clinical professor who sent me a letter saying I have been disrespectful patient

Does your billing department even exist? I have been trying to contact someone to talk about my bill since March 2022. I've tried email, calling the billing department, calling other departments, and no one has reached back out to me. You have been harassing me with bill after bill for almost a year for a procedure that never happened. Each new bill from UCSF gives me stress and anxiety because I know there is no way to resolve this. Either call me back or stop sending me these bills in the mail!

Today morning(Jan.24.22) there was a bold man on front desk. He was just ignoring me. I never seen arrogance person like him. I came almost 30 minut before my appiontment. When i came, he had another costumer but keep talking with her. I waited 30 minut just standing next to there. When my number called, he said you have to fill it out this form. Why didnt he tell me earlier when i was standing over there? And i spent just 2 minut to fill that form and came back he said sit and wait over there i am serving next costumer. Like skipping my number and taking next costumer. And i was keep waiting. After 1 hour i asked again how long should i wait? he said i am working here when is your paper work ready i will call you. Actually my paper work was on another table behind him seems like he didnt wanna look at it or forgot it. I spent almost 2 hour for check in. While i am waiting many costumers who came after me so easy done with check up and went to dental service. Made me feel like he was discriminating me cause i am asian and pregnant.

Great doctors but unfortunately the billing department can ruin your life. The doctors deserve all the credit. The billing department... I'm not sure if they know what they're doing.

I’ve received great care over the years. No complaints. What folks need to realize is that this is a school with scores of dental students. You’re not going to a private denti$t with only one person in his waiting room. If you are one of those “entitled” types, this isn't the place for you.

Does anyone know about the cost of an implant being done by the student periodontal clinic? They charge me around $4000 to $5000. How's yours with your experience?

Do Not go there. For free, it would have been way too expensive. Unfathomable how poorly executed dental work can be. This should not exist, they should have these kids practice for free on the homeless or something along those lines. Do not do this to yourself

Scheduling an appointment or even trying to talk to anyone working is not possible over the phone. It always redirects to overnight service and then voicemail no matter what time of day it is. Even after leaving a voicemail I don't get a response.

Honestly, I had a good experience, though the procedure I was going through was a bit scary in the way that I certainly heard my tooth being broken professionally by students (under good supervision). I'm grateful for the affordability along with the quality care. I did feel like both the students and their supervisors did care. This is a busy office and I respect what these people do for the community. Thank You Students and Staff at UCSF Dental Center, indeed. <3

Do not try to call them. You will never get through, and if you leave a message it will never be answered. The only way I have found to reach them, even after undergoing dental surgery, is to show up in person, and even then, things will likely be closed early without warning. I would recommend to go elsewhere, but I know that people who need the discounted rates or who are on Denti-Cal may have no other choice.

Avoid this place. My doctor was negligent and never orders tests or followed up with me and I got a bill for $400 with no information about my diagnosis and the Billing has refused to speak with me after numerous emails and voice messages. AVOID!!!

I was referred to the UCSF dental clinic by my East Bay dentist, and despite the initial challenge of securing an appointment, my experience with Dr. Vincent Li, one of the periodontists on the 3rd floor, was exceptional. Dr. Li was caring, attentive, patient, and kind. He conducted a thorough assessment of all my teeth and even went to the extra mile by consulting with senior members of the clinic to ensure a well-informed and tailored treatment plan for my various dental issues. Notably, his expertise in plaque removal during my appointment, a result of my morning routine with black tea, was outstanding—remarkably pain-free with no gum bleeding in comparison to all my past experiences. My teeth now look brighter, and I can confidently smile again. Grateful for Dr. Li's expertise and the overall positive experience at UCSF dental clinic. Thank you.

I really like this clinic, I brought my 2 kids, and My friend brought her 3 kids, My uncle brought his 4 kids. We all get the appointment on the same week. They are very efficient, and working very hard to make every piece smoother. And We really appreciated about that.

Great experience knowing that the students are shadowed throughout the whole process. The students also show excellent team spirit.
