We came with my family on a Monday night and the wait wasn't too bad, about 20-25 minutes. The staff was very polite and attentive contrary to a few reviews. I ordered the Miso Tonkotsu and it was very tasty. The soup was creamy based although creaminess didn't overwhelm the base broth which was what I was hoping for. The spoons were strangely large, seemingly made for giants :) My two negatives were that the portion was actually small, and I'm not one with a huge appetite to begin with. Also, the 25% mandatory gratuity was excessive. They may or may not deserve it, but I feel it's up to me to decide that. Other than that, we were happy with our experience and would recommend.

I really hate to rate this a 3 but hear me out! The bar is pretty high for this Japanese ramen restaurant chain. Here’s what went well: 1) Was seated within 15 minutes of waiting with no reservation (Monday helps) 2) Was able to order within 5 mins of sitting (workers are attentive) 3) Their umami fried chicken was good 4) Texture of noodles were good (we ordered extra firm which saved us) Here’s where it went south: 1) Food took too long.. the ramen came before our appetizer (other table who sat a bit after us got their ramen way before us) 2) Ramen presentation and portion was lacking 3) Flavor of the broth for the classic ramen was lacking but the spicy broth tasted good 4) Restaurants consider the flat and drum to be separate pc even though it’s from the same part (separating it was a little messy haha) 5) Price is on the high side and most items have to be added on and they’re not cheap either I do want to rate this well but there’s a lot going against it for a restaurant like Ippudo.

We found this place based on reviews on Google map. We ordered a pork bun, a Shiromaru classic ramen and a sukiyaki ramen. The pork bun was the big hit. The bun was so soft and fluffy, and the pork was juicy, tender and tasty without feeling too greasy. It's a 5 out of 5. The Shiromaru classic was similar to tonkotsu ramen in other places, a 4 out of 5. I'm not a big fan of the sukiyaki ramen as it's too sweet for my taste, I give it a 3 out of 5. Overall the ramen here is on par to other ramen places. Price is on the premium side probably because of the SF city location. The pork bun was the surprise and I'll definitely recommend it.

Nothing like this place! The best Asian food I have ever had! The ramen was amazing!! Smells great and delicious. Service was so good. The restaurant is clean and classy. I’m leaving San Francisco and feeling sad that I won’t be able to go soon. But will definitely have it in mind for my next visit. Worth it.

I remember my cousin recommended Ippudo in NYC but we never ended up trying, and then I saw an Ippudo right by my hotel so…why not! Decor is nice and I like the layout of the place. I asked for recommendations and was recommended the Karaka Spicy if I liked spicy (and I do), although I got it with the think noodles instead of the default thin. It was good. Presentation was nice and heat was just right. I enjoyed it. However, portions weren’t that big, especially for $21USD. Looking at this from the lens of a Torontonian a lot of the ramen shops I visit and review are on average $16-18CAD and a larger bowl tha the one I got today at Ippudo. With the current exhange rate, I could’ve gotten almost two bowls of ramen in Toronto. So the value category is where they lost some stars for me.

Very good ramen, definitely one of the best ramen that I've had. Staff was very nice but the place seem a bit short staffed. Missing a greeter so had to wait outside for quite a while even though there were many empty seats inside.

Arrived for a saturday lunch at noon. It wasn't packed. But the place has a fast turnover so there's always seats. Had the spicy Karaka ramen and pork belly bun. The ramen was pretty spicy, but it's a good spice with surprisingly lots of depth and flavor. The noodles were thin and perfectly cooked. I was hyped for the pork belly but thought it was alright. It wasn't as soft as I was expecting, and there was mayonnaise, which seemed like an odd combination. Don't get me wrong, it was still good. Each ramen was $21. For 2 people, we spent around ~$70, including tips.

Excellent service. Ramen broth was rich but light, and the meat (chicken, pork) was tender and not dry at all. Cheesecake for dessert was also delicious. The pork, chicken, and veggie buns are also a must-have.

Great ramen place with amazing broth. They make the noodles according to your preference. I got Al Dante. The broth was spicy like I wanted. The buns were really good too. I would recommend.

Started with karaage, mustard sauce was awesome. I like their miso soup ramen, unlike the al dente recommending I still prefer soft noodles, goes well with chashu. Spicy ramens are feels oily. Awesome matcha cheesecake 💚 wish they are bigger lol

Love me some delicious pork buns. Their meat to bun ratio was spot on. Then the ramen. It was delicious. That broth is fantastic. It is apparently cooked for 2 days in a specially crafted pot creating a “double maturation process” which deepens the flavor. I didn’t think it was salty as some others have stated. I read about the possibility of MSG in the broth and I am totally ok with that! Uncle Roger would be too! Having different options on the texture of the noodles i.e. soft, medium or firm is a nice touch. Also had no issues with the service. Our server was lovely. Ippudo is certainly worth a visit.

This is the first Ippudo i had outside of Japan. The place is high end compared to the ones in Japan. Im very happy to say the ramen taste is exactly the same from Tokyo and Osaka. This visit i had Akamaru ramen, very delicious 😋.

Pork bun: 10/10. Worth the visit just for that. Cocktail: 9/10 very creative, great taste. Lychee was a bit dry. Ramen: 6/10. Spice and style was lackluster. Noodles were not good. Service: efficient, unassuming (was there at an odd lunch hour on a Sunday).

Best miso ramen! So tasty, and perfect for the cold weather! The karaage chicken and shishito peppers were also great appetizers! Nice atmosphere, and great service. Looking forward to eating there again!

Oh my….! We were visiting San Francisco and stumble on this place while looking for a good Ramen . This is honestly the best Ramen I have ever tasted . We went twice over a week to be sure it was not a fluke . They have found a way to make their broth very tasty with a good umami taste without being too salty, and not feeling “fatty” at all ! We tried both the Shiromaru and Akamaru version; and we were delighted. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the nori and marinated eggs were great additions (they are extra) As for the Price, it is very good considering how much we loved the Ramens. Service wise, they were very kind but there could be some improvements, as an appetizer was forgotten once on our first visit, and delivered after the soup in our seconds … but they were upfront stating there was new team members, so no sweat at all. Try it with no hesitation!

My first authentic ramen experience. Best Asian place in sf by far. This place was the best rated when I searched on Google that was nearby the place where I was staying. The place was cozy and very nice. We had a very small wait. Started of with their signature pork bun. I have never had the bun. It was very good. My wife had the spicy garlic edamame. She loved it. For ramen I had the bonito tonkotsu with firm noodles and wifey had the akamaru modern. Loved it. Will visit again when we are in sf.

we stopped here for lunch at the recommendation of the security guard at our hotel, and it was an amazing experience! the chicken and rice had a great flavor, and the spicy ramen was definitely some of the best i have had. the staff were awesome as well! it’s surely worth a try if you’re looking for some delicious Japanese food.

Great service, great ramen, reasonably priced for San Francisco. The wait can be long Friday nights but we only waited for 10-15 minutes on a Monday night. Portions are on a smaller side compared to the rest of American cuisine but filling and more than enough. They pour sake with the hospitality overflow which I hadn't seen before and loved it!
