United Barbell is the best gym in SF! The community is very welcoming to all and I've made great friends here. The coaches take the time to properly teach movements and get to know each athlete and their abilities because they care. Working out here is the highlight of my day!

Great CrossFit gym in SOMA. I really enjoyed the tips on technique they run through - it massively improved my row.

I have been going to United barbel for ten years, and it’s been a fantastic experience. I started as a guy who had no clue what an actual snatch was to now doing them with the weight I never imagined possible. Kudos on my journey to the fantastic coaches who have and continue to remind me of the importance of form and taking my time to learn the specifics of every skill. I have made the most amazing lifelong friends at United barbell - every day is a new experience, and I always look forward to going to the gym!

I am relocating to SF soon and wanted to find a box. I happened upon Crossfit SOMA and I love it. I can’t wait to go back when the move becomes final. The coaching was great and I enjoyed the front desk energy and friendliness. It’s always such a PLUS when there are in house showers and I am stoked to call this new community my new home very soon!

Came here on first Friday beginner workout on invitation from my friend First class is free if you come on a Friday morning! No commitment required, just sign a waiver. This particular workout was primarily deadlifts and I had concerns due to previous poor form on deadlifts. Noted to coach Cam who helped me work on form, provided helpful cues, and motivation and reinforcement when I was doing it right. Never felt so great doing 100 deadlifts (even at lighter weights) Energy was awesome and music choice was spot on with a rise at the end to give you a small bump in energy. Would recommend for anyone looking at getting in to cross fit and trying it out! Kudos to the team that created this environment.

I had a really nice drop-in workout this morning. The coach (Liv) was friendly and encouraging. The gym itself is well-equipped and spacious. I’m hoping to have time for another workout while in town. Thanks!

Amazing coaches and community. Just joined the gym a couple weeks ago and have been so energized - workouts are killer but coaches are great at giving adjustments so you can improve at your own pace. Excited to keep learning!

As a former member and now drop-in client, I would highly recommend United Barbell to anyone at all levels of fitness. The coaching staff is friendly, inspiring, and technically proficient. They do an especially good job of insuring participants utilize proper technique to minimize injury risk while still pushing everyone to get the most out of our workouts. Additionally, the gym itself is very organized, spacious, and has all the latest equipment. United Barbell is a good fit for people new to fitness, those like me who are just looking for a fun/challenging workout, and the more advanced cross fitters who participate seem to love it too. Bottom line: Great gym, with great coaches, and you'll be working out with a great group of people!

Been in United barbell for the past month. The trainers and fellow CrosFiters have made me feel welcome from the get go. The gym has all the bells and whistles of CrossFit equipment as well as great apps and communication methods. If you are into CrossFit. I recommend you to try a free training session and see for yourself.

We dropped in to United Barbell while in town and had a great visit. Everyone was welcoming and Maddy did an awesome job warming us up for the WOD. The gym is clean and well organized. We loved the workout!

Great classes, amazing coaches, all the equipment you need and very friendly/encouraging atmosphere. Could not recommend this place more! Very noob friendly (me!). Highly recommend if you're thinking about starting to get active / fit.

Dropped into Crossfit SOMA this morning and worked out with the 6:30am crew and Coach Kevin. I was so glad to find that the class was structured and Kevin provided guidance on movements throughout. I will definitely drop in here again if I am back in SF!

My experience at United Barbell was awsome. My wife and I were welcomed by Coach James. He was very nice, friendly and professional, giving us all the information we needed and being attentive to all movimente we were doing. The workout was hard and log, just the way we love. The space of the gym is quite big and comfortable. Excellent equipment and good location. The community was very friendly too. I highly recommend UNITED BARBELL CROSSFIT for all visitors os San Francisco and also for those ones whoa are searching a CrossFit Gym to make it home. United Barbell is definitely that place. My wife and I have been practicing CF for 6 years and everywhere we go we try to find a gym for dropping in. So if you are visiting San Francisco or have just moved tontura city and is looking for a CF Gym. Go and check United Barbell. You won’t regret! 100% guaranteed! Even during the pandemic, the classes went continued online. This made us stay in our routine and not skip classes. Loved it.

The moment I walked in I was greeted with friendly faces and informative and caring couches. I was able to walk in, look around, and ask as many questions I had about the program. After a great consultation, I decided to try out a class. I was truly shocked by the support and modifications that that couch offers new members. I was encouraged to listen to my body and to do less reps/weight. After my first class I signed up for one month unlimited. It’s been two weeks and I am truly hooked. Not only did I notice positive changes in my body, but I genuinely enjoy going to class. I highly recommend United Barbell for anyone interested in CrossFit, gymnastics, and strength training!

Great gym and a great community! Joined United Barbell over 2 years ago even though I was a bit intimidated by CrossFit. All of the coaches here are really friendly, welcoming and very professional when it comes to warming up, having the correct form and making a WOD work for your capabilities.

First time doing cross-fit and loving it. The community is so diverse, inviting, and encouraging. And the instructors are very experienced and good at pushing you to do better (in a nice way). I definitely recommend it for newbies. The gym itself is clean, with nice equipment, good music, and they even allow well behaved dogs! Will definitely keep coming.

I’ve been to nearly all the CrossFit gyms in SF and the east bay, and there are only a few that get the two important things right: coaching/programming and community. Most other things you can flex on, but those two things really define the experience and quality of a box. I’ve been crossfitting for 8 years and am in that mode where I’m pleasantly surprised if I PR or am able to improve technique. I haven’t been at UB long but have already experienced both! Experienced, and attentive coaching, and a fun and open community. I plan to stick around. :)

Suuuuch a nice gym! We did a dropin on our vacation in SF and it was the best choice. People were really friendly. Liran was our coach and it was one of the best coaching I have ever seen. Perfect place for a workout <3

I am a newbie and was kind of skeptical to join but Tasha changed my mind! She was extremely friendly and took me on a tour. It's been a week and I am soo happy I decided to join. So far the best gym I have ever joined. From the pros to the beginners JOIN CRUNCH you will be glad you did!

Drop in while we were on vacation. Great spacious box with everything you can expect. Plus a very attentive coach who took into consideration the fact that I was pregnant, asking me all the questions that should be asked and offering me plenty of options ! I highly recommend you go there if you are in the neighborhood!

Great coaches, lots of good equipment & an overall awesome CrossFit gym. Welcoming to all. Besides CrossFit, also have gymnastic and Olympic lifting classes. So helpful to work on those specific pieces of your athletic life.

I love this place. Everyone here is super friendly and it's pretty much the best part about my day! Except for that personal trainer guy named Matt, that guy's a tool-bag.

😐 My first visit in an American Bouldering Gym and a rather disappointing one. Not sure about the 4.8 Stars. I think the gym invests more time in the wrong places. The showers, restrooms and changing areas are great, there is even Shampoo in the showers. One negative thing is, that you can't usw the l...

😠 Sharing as a PSA for anyone considering joining this Planet Fitness location. While at the gym, the lock on my locker was cut and my belongings were stolen. 👍👍 Love this gym! It’s clean, big locker rooms, lots of space on the workout floor and a pool. The pool is a little shallow but it’s on the second floor, so, can’t complain too much.

😠 Although the equipment in this gym allows you to "get the job done" and they do validated garage parking for $6, these are the ONLY positives I can highlight about this location.
