What a beautiful place. We loved sitting on the beach soaking up the rays and the gorgeous views. We did a hike as well and loved exploring this area. People who live here are truly blessed

This is a beautiful place to visit. The walk everywhere is delightful. Easy, but it gets your body moving. Great views that encourage amazing photos and videos too. We had a wonderful family excursion together, enjoying our time together here.

Gorgeous Vistas from this Overlook of Muir Beach close to Muir Woods. Parking is small and can get filled up on weekends and holidays. They have picnic benches to enjoy lunch overlooking this beautiful view of the ocean. Very nice outlook to appreciate the beauty of the California coast. Plenty of parking as well and on-site bathrooms too. Great place to relax away from all the noise for a day. So beautiful. Not crowded in the morning but it was a GORGEOUS day. I enjoyed the views very much.

Definitely make this a stop on your list. The parking lot is decent sized. Whether you get there mid-day or get there in time to watch the Sunset you're sure to get some great views. Great spot for a picnic or to enjoy a few drinks. Great for families and the solo traveler!

Great free parking. Gorgeous overlook of Muir Beach all the way to Stinson. There is some cool Army History up there to check out as well. A lookout bunker. It's a stunning, easy walk to the edge of the lookout! Not handicap assesable to the edge of the lookout, but there is a great lookout spot that IS handicapped friendly ♿ 👍🌊 🌴

This is one of the best spots to see sunset. I was lucky to reach right on time when the sun was setting. The drive to this place was scenic too.

Amazing views over the shore and great trails. Here is a nice and quiet and peaceful place where time seems just slow and we feel so small on a big mountain...

Beautiful views from this overlook. The dirt trails had a decent slope to them, which might be difficult for elderly or ♿️. The view from the parking lot is very nice. There were several historical covered shelters used by the military to keep watch over the coastline. The drive there consisted of a two lane winding road, which is very scenic. The parking lot is not very large. I believe there are vault restrooms. You pass by the John Muir red woods (get an online pass ahead of time if you want to go). It was booked up when we went. 😔

Awesome look out point to check if you’re nearby! Super cool WW2 look out bunkers spread throughout it. There is a little bit of a walk but an amazing view! There is also a few informational plaques spread throughout to give you the overlooks history!

I just cannot get enough of this place! On a clear or foggy day, it’s a beautiful place to visit. Walking down the stairs is a good experience. I recommend wearing a light jacket only cos it can be super windy depending on the day. Amazing smell of eucalyptus trees on the other side of the stairs. Definitely visit this spot if you are near San Francisco or Sausalito area.

Definitely worth a stop by. Limited parking, but not too bad as it seems people stay a short time. Some tables to sit and eat and of course, the gorgeous views!

Great beach with great hiking trails. Sands feels amazing and the water is cold. Hiking trails are hilly but the worth it because of the views.

It’s a beautiful scenic area with a nice path down to the edge of the cliff. There is plenty of parking and two restrooms. It took about 15 minutes.

awesome views and just a skip and a jump off of hwy 1. get there early though as there can be many people because it's so easy to get to and go down those iconic steps of the view & photos. don't sweat it if you can't get a blue sky day....the fog and mists can offer a different vibe to the visit

This is very easy to find! We just typed Muir Beach Overlook into Google Maps and drive straight to it! There’s a short path to a great spot with nice views (also nice for taking pictures). It wasn’t too crowded at 4:45 on a Friday in June, but there were just enough people there to take our picture! It was really cool because we literally saw clouds forming off the ocean. Definitely recommend! I would allot 10 minutes for a visit here.

Muir Beach Overlook is undeniably a breathtaking destination for those seeking natural beauty and tranquility. The panoramic vistas it offers are nothing short of spectacular, granting visitors an expansive view of the Pacific Ocean that stretches for miles in both directions. However, it is essential to exercise caution, particularly if you have a fear of heights, as the elevated location can be disconcerting due to the railings feeling somewhat precarious. Despite this, the experience is generally safe and immensely rewarding. The presence of informative signage and facilities such as bathrooms adds to the overall visitor experience. One notable feature is the historical WWII lookout pillbox, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the area's past. For nature enthusiasts, Muir Beach Overlook serves as an excellent spot for whale watching, providing unparalleled opportunities to witness these majestic creatures. Additionally, birding enthusiasts will find the location especially appealing, as it offers a unique vantage point from which to observe various bird species. It is imperative that visitors respect the environment and adhere to the designated paths to preserve this natural gem for future generations. In summary, Muir Beach Overlook is undoubtedly a must-visit destination for its stunning vistas and natural wonders, provided visitors tread with care and consideration.

Nice overlook with a short trail that lets you get a really nice view along the coast. Probably not worth the stop if you are going out of your way but if you are along this path already then it’s worth the stop. Both restrooms were pit toilets with locks that didn’t work.

Beautiful views! Saw seals in the ocean. Muir Beach visible. Very high overlook. Historic gopher holes exist here. Beware this is known for smash and grabs so don’t leave any valuables in your car

Really good place. I would recommend to visit this place during sunset as it would have a really great view. It also has a hidden spot to have a picnic with the tables and benches.
