The quaint, historic cove surrounded by piers includes a swimming area for people, who are able to enjoy the cold bay water. A small beach invites tourists as well as locals. With the Maritime Museum and itโ€™s old ships on one side and the long curved pier out into the bay on the other, this beautiful spot had much to offer: views, information, education, relaxation. Even so the pier is slowly falling apart it still has charm enough to be visited on your next San Francisco trip. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz are amazing and free.

I got to see dolphins, a guy fishing, some really neat places to explore and great food down the street!

For swimmers, a great place to finish Alcatraz to SF events. If you swim inside aquatic park, beware of rocks underneath water around the west side. Better to stay near the buoys.

Beautiful spot for short open water swim practice and perfect finishing area for Alcatraz swims. Nice walkway and beach, water is cold all year, usually mid to high 50โ€™s. ๐Ÿฅถ

One of best places to see Alcatraz and the golden gate, very close to fishermanโ€™s wharf and worth the trip for the shops around it too!

It depends on what you want to do .... And if it's for 4th of July then I would say don't bother because most likely it's going to be overcast at best .or street level pea soup at worst and the most you'll see is rainbow colored fog.

Amazing place to watch the fleet week airshow by the Blue Angel's. Smaller area than the google map makes you think. Bit lots of room for good sized boats. Great protection from any waves/ swell but still pretty windy.

Best to visit in late evenings and destress with ocean view on one side and Ghirardelli Square view on the opposite end! Street parking available 2-3 blocks away.
