I am a retired professional swimmer, new to the city, and looking for my new spot to swim laps. North Beach Pool was just OK. The pool is located in a bustling part of San Francisco- right on Lombard, and you can expect to circle the block for parking. I did expect this ahead of time, and was pleasantly surprised to only circle once & find parking on Chestnut- just 1 block away. $7 is the fee for lap swim, standard at all SF city pools. When I visited in April 2022, they were only accepting cash. The North Beach Pool has an interesting set up. There are actually 2 separate pools in this facility- one “cold” pool, ranging between 77-78° F, and one “warm” pool, ranging between 86-88° F. The differing temperatures in the two distinct pools strike me as odd. The temperatures aren’t as extreme as you might find in a day spa- contrasting a hot tub session with a cold plunge. It was a small facility, and I would anticipate that 4 lanes total, 2 for serious lap swimmers, would get crowded at times. However, when I visited, there were max 3 people in the cold pool, which was manageable. The locker rooms are shabby and could use some updating- but the basics are there. There is a communal shower space, lockers for day use, and curtained changed areas, and a swim suit dryer. Although it is definitely dated, it didn’t feel particularly dirty or inadequate. The North Beach pool space is definitely a bare-bones facility, but the warm pool and the sauna make this a good spot for anyone seeking warm water therapy or just a nice recovery swim session.

The pool is freezing. It's like 5 degrees. "Just go to the warm pool" someone may say to me. On days when the warm pool is open to lap swim there's people that get way too triggered when a kid beats them. When my little brother accidentally hit this 40 year old "man" on backstroke because he was passing him, he freaked out. He literally told the lifeguard on him. Plus they make you go down the left side of the lane for some weird reason. I think the owner is a British Immigrant or something so I'll let it slide but they're on thin ice.

Really loved this place. Was visiting from London and wanted to swim. I have to say the windows and early morning mist was beautiful to swim within. Lots of windows and it was nice to have music to swim to. Clean super friendly and nice swimmers. I went in the morning at 6am it was a nice mix of swimmers. I shall happily swim their again. Take your own locker or do what I did and leave it on the chairs in view whilst swimming they were more than happy to let me do that. No issues with anything really. 10/10 for lanes, staff and facilities.

Good public pool facility in SF, in fact has warm (80ish) and cold (75ish) pools. The facility is quite modern, compared to other public pools in the city. Plenty of activities available to adults and kids. Flexible schedule, in general, might get closed in the summer for few weeks for renovation. Overall solid place for morning or evening laps.

There are two indoor pools, one is with a cold water another is with a warm water. They have a pool schedule online so you can see what is the best time for you to come in. They also have swimming classes and water aerobic. You can buy tickets online and on the spot. They also have a lifeguard at the pool at all times.

If the men's locker room (can't speak for women's) was 3 or 4 degrees warmer I would give three stars. Even though the dry sauna is pretty great, the reason I can't give 4 or 5 stars is because this facility is in the business of rushing people along...this is SF, and a nice neighborhood to boot. Simply asking a person if they would like to pay for more time would be appropriate and respectful, but the way it works here feels a bit military summer camp...try for yourself🤷🏼‍♂️.

As an out-of-towner, this place was a dream to find. The cool pool is a super comfortable temp for lap swimming. Most mornings it was really quiet.

It has a warm pool that is perfect for toddlers. It could be really crowded though. The young staff at this location are friendly and nice.

Poor choice of staff.it seems like the African American guy doesn't want to be there as if he is disconnected or somewhere else.i asked him for toys or art supplies for kids to draw and he said no.very rude and passive agressive.you should probably hire people who like there job

I love the convenience of this pool however PLEASE consider changing your hours so that folks working a typical 9-5pm can actually come swim. Right now, the only options are Friday evening and Saturday. Otherwise, the pool is NOT open in the evenings nor on Sundays, which would be the most ideal time for a swim. It's really hard to be able to fit swimming into my schedule because of the unusual hours.

Worst experience of all swimming pools over The whole United States of America. Lifesaver was really sheep towards another customer who thought that there is something inappropriate to take a shower naked and the customer took his right to claim about it. Obviously it will harm somehow the child if he sees penis of a grown up man. Straight spined lifesaver would have counterargumented to that customer properly. In shower area I got personally requested to leave the premises because of this extreme nudity. Good place to go if you are not willing to wash properly your groin and penis and like to wear swimsuit in shower. Sauna is not real. There is no water to be thrown on the stove so there is not really use for a relatively warm not-humid room. A lot of dust on the lockers. One star comes from that the showers work technically somehow and the water is warm.

I had swim lessons here and the lifeguard was very demanding. When I did something wrong the lifeguard would yell at me. He would also brag how he is much better.

My kids had swimming classes here with Coach Hunter. He is very professional and patient with different level swimmers. My kids had great learning experience.
