This was one of the best experiences I've had in San Francisco! Dandelion Chocolate started off as a tiny shop roasting and producing their own chocolate in the Mission district, and now they're a national success. If you have time to schedule a tour of the factory, I would definitely recommend that you do so! The tour was cheap, $15 per person, and they give you a voucher for a free beverage at their cute cafe! The tour takes you through the whole process of chocolate making, starting with how cocoa pod are processed at the places they source from, how cocoa fruit is fermented, how they inspect cocoa beans before purchase, processing the beans at the factory, roasting the beans, and actually making the chocolate. You get to taste the fruits of the cocoa pod, the roasted nibs, go through chocolate tasting and even taste liquid chocolate that's still in the melanging process. Such an amazing company, such an amazing product, and such an amazing place.

Sunday July 10, 2022, my first visit to Dandelion Chocolate. I am super impressed by the interior architecture. The combination of brick, fine wood, and stainless steel is timeless. The chocolate itself is uniquely marketed, packaged, and most important, flavorful. I particularly enjoyed the coffee/pastry bar. The menu is fun offering hot chocolate. The location on 16th Street offers a counter seating area which leads to company made products. The shop also has a dining room (closed for now) which is surrounded by a glass wall. This is a beautiful place to visit and sit down.

Until now we'd only always visited the one on Valencia. We recently discovered this place and we really like it. Its more spacious than the Valencia location and definitely less crowded. I *think* they also do a tour of their factory at this location. Great spot

One of the best places to treat yourself to a cup of drinking European style chocolate. My favorite is a mochachino: teach, flavorful, strong and delicious.

Excellent brunch. The quiche and "breakfast cakes" pancakes were exceptional. Portion sizes very reasonable. Nice people too.

My fave cafe in SF. Best chocolate milk, unlike anything you had in your childhood. Love the bigger location.

Great chocolate, informative tours, and made-to-order drinks are available here. I highly recommend getting a tour here. I booked the tour online for $20 and it was great. I got to try samples of different chocolate and a small cup of cocoa fruit smoothie. It was nice seeing the chocolate-making process from start to finish. The tour also included a hot chocolate drink, so I chose the frozen hot chocolate. It came with a nice shortbread cookie. If you love chocolate, you should definitely book a tour.

Super awesome and informative and fun tour! Steven (Stephen?) was charismatic and compelling the entire time and there were tons of little goodies to try and chocolate to be had. Very deep chocolate knowledge. 10/10 tour guide!

Very nice chocolatier. Even though I was born in Switzerland i don't consider myself a chocolate expert. To my taste what i tried was just okay, but maybe it's just me.

It’s hard to dislike a store that has multiple types of brownies. The retail store at this location is perfect. Well designed space holding all kinds of chocolates, drinks, and pastries. Did not disappoint. I’m a huge fan of the 100% cocoa bar if you like your chocolate dark.

We got a tour of the chocolate factory and it was lots of fun. We got to sample fresh cacao beans with the fruit still attached and that was very special. Cacao pods are delicate and don’t last long so it’s pretty unique that you can taste the fruit of the pod and bite into a RAW bean. It’s a tropical fruit that does not store well. throughout the tour we sampled Perhaps a half dozen chocolates - we got one square each. the tour was good and informational but I will say that some of it was a little bit too much like a lecture with no visuals to help explain the process and the source and what’s inside the machines. So I think they would benefit from making placards of some of the graphics I’ve seen in their printed materials. Another small nitpick is that the lighting was not as good as it could’ve been and that also would help in some of the explanations. I also recommend they get a laser pointer so they can be more clear about which machines they’re talking about in the space. And another final nitpick is that we were able to stump our tour guide with some technical questions about chocolate manufacturing but there were some aspects of the business that he did know a lot about. And finally, one of our group had a birthday so it was very nice of them to give us an extra treat.

The cafe inside has the best hot chocolate and mocha. Unfortunately you need to sign up to have a tour of the chocolate factory.

I went for an event that was hosted by my brother's job. Samples are available when you walk in. During the tour you get to taste the different stages in the chocolate making process including the cacao fruit. We also made our own ganache and truffles to take home. The staff was super friendly and fun. It was a great experience.

Oh. My. Gosh. Hot chocolate like you have never experienced! Took the chocolate tour and then sampled. I love this company’s philosophy and chocolate. Such love and care! We will be coming back.

A classy chocolate factory, feels classic and industrial but very much clean, modern and warm. Houses production for some of what I think is the best chocolate in the world. It's amazing what they do with two ingredients - bean and sugar, and are are able to tease out complex flavour variations with their process. Tactfully, there are small samples that you can try on the shelves with tongs to see which single origin chocolate might tickle your fancy. They also serve some cafe items, a range of chocolate themed drinks (horchata, frozen hot chocolate) and a great mix of snacks - don't go past the chocolate caneles with their crisp shell and spongey chocolate interior, smores are a good choice too. You can also do tours and classes at this location, I have not but one day I'll be back and schedule something in. For any real chocolate lovers, a must visit institution in San Francisco.

My team came here for a work offsite, and it was so much fun - and seriously delicious. We made, and got to take home, ~20 truffles and a whole batch of ganache. Definitely recommend visiting, eat Dandelion chocolates, and taking a truffle making class!

We love coming to dandelion chocolate place everytime we are in SF. Absolutely love their chocolates and European hot chocolate drink. The chocolate cake with buttercream was nice but I'm not a fan of buttercream icing. It might have been better at room temperature.. Overall, do stop by if you're in SF.

Very cool chocolate shop. I tried the Japanese collection that had citrus fruits and chocolate mixed together. Worth picking up as a gift for someone you care about. The s'more cookie/tart is a must try. The shop will fire the s'more in front of you and it's fun to watch. It even tastes as good in person. Worth picking up one for yourself. I'm so glad I went back a couple times to make sure I can try this before I go home.

Took the tour, and I highly recommend! They really care about the quality of the chocolate, and getting to see the behind-the-scenes was so neat! Our guide was so friendly and informative. I loved the free beverage that came with the price of the ticket. I had the cacao fruit smoothie, and it was one of the most delicious and unique smoothies I’ve ever had! All the samples we got were to die for. I will definitely be back next time I’m in SF!

4 stars for the food, -2 stars for my experience here. first, disappointed that there’s no food served here because the menu pdf on their google maps show that there is. i get that menus can change, but apparently they’ve not been serving food for quite a long time now, but somehow their google maps page is not updated? i would appreciate being able to manage my expectations because my family and i came in without eating breakfast as we relied on the menu which stated that there were breakfast options, especially on a rainy day which made it even more inconvenient to get here and to go somewhere else for food. second, service was not very friendly. my family felt that they were cold, and people sitting next to us were offered samples of chocolate (if i heard correctly it was toffee?), but we weren’t offered any even though we were right next to them. drinks were good - very thick and rich, and they have samples of chocolate (self service) which was interesting. each had different tasting notes and the notes were described accurately. however it is very pricey, hence the overall 2 stars for value and my experience here. they have wifi and charging ports available
