Located in the historic Fillmore/Western Addition neighborhood, the African American Art & Culture Complex is one of the premier Black arts and cultural institutions in the San Francisco/Bay Area. We are one of seven cultural centers in the San Francisco Arts Commission’s Neighborhood Arts Program. We are dedicated to providing a wide variety of art and cultural programming for youth, adults and families, including visual, digital, and performance. In addition to programming, AAACC offers affordable space rentals for events in our 32,000+ square foot facility. AAACC provides resident art companies with subsidized offices, administrative services, and access to rehearsal, performance, and exhibition space. The resident company list includes some of the most celebrated African American arts and culture organizations in the region: Cultural Odyssey (Idris Ackamoor and Rhodessa Jones) AfroSolo Theatre Company African American Historical and Cultural Society Lorraine Hansberry Theatre Company African-American Shakespeare Company The Center is also home to the 206-seat Buriel Clay Theater which serves as a site for annual theater productions, dance performances, musical concerts, film and video screenings, seminars, and workshops. We also host the Sargent Johnson and Hall of Culture galleries which are dedicated to exhibiting artwork from and about the African Diaspora.

Everytime i try to book this venue they have been unavailable. 2 weeks ago I was in their office, the man told me to"go online" as if I coudn't think of that myself, there were no price lists available, I did go online and clicked on "application" the application was blocked so that I couldn't fill one out, called 3 times and left a message ever got back to me, so im not sure if they are booking events there through friends and family only but its a private venue so exclusive noone can even get an application or price list due to their secretive and exclusive list of promoters they use

This place debuts FILLMORE AS THE HARLEM OF THE WEST. Rich in culture and expanding in diversity. Awesome new building that went under reconstruction. The walls in this place are phenomenal, rich, encouraging and a must see.

Today was AMAZING!! I was here celebrating with BUCU (Black Unity Conference Universal). My nephew and I had a grand time. He was able to shadow the DJ, speak with someone about learning to play chess, eat good food, talk to all the vendors and most importantly, help me! I was there promoting my body butter business and enjoying the marvelous company of magnificent people. This place is absolutely amazing. The inside is fantastic. Go check it out and see for yourself...you know you want to.

It was absolutely amazing. I met one of the artists and he took time to explain the piece of work he is currently working on. The two girls who showed me around were passionate and clearly have a love of all arts. I was blown away with how big the complex is and all the different community services they offer. Watch this space everyone this is where good things happen. Your London Visitor x
