A beautiful memorial site for all the people lost to the AIDS epidemic. There are many memorial sites with the names of lost loved ones, as well as places to sit for quiet reflection. There are walking paths that allow you to wonder about randomly experiencing the grove of trees. A very quiet and reflective place. Also a great venue for a few events throughout the year.

A memorial to those who died of AIDS. Really peaceful part of the park. Places to sit. There are words engraved in the rocks. A must see if you are at Golden Gate park.

If you are visiting San Francisco and Golden gate park, this is definitely a place you should stop by. Nestled in the middle of Golden gate park, this little Grove is a memorial in remembrance to the thousands of people that have passed away due to HIV and AIDS in the United States. Not only is it beautifully curated with plants and dedication stones, but it also serves as a local outdoor venue for a multiplicity of different outdoor events like picnics and music festivals and silent disco parties and grassroots events. One of the most notorious events is called flagging in the Park which is a monthly event that happens during the summer where people come out to picnic music played and the local flaggers come out and show their skills. The added bonus to this place is that you can text a number and it will send you a guided tour to your phone as you walk around the Grove and you learn about the history of this pandemic in the United States and about some of the amazing activism around it nationwide

I’ve lived in the city for over 25 years and just recently discovered this hidden gem. I love the entire park but this place is my favorite. It has beautiful natural landscaping with lots of shade and benches. If you visit the park make sure to spend some time here.

Today we stumbled upon this beautiful National Memorial. To say that the views, sounds and smells are breathtaking is an understatement. This is one of the most zen parks that we have discovered in California. A must visit

Love this part of Golden Gate Park. Most visitors come looking for the Japanese Tea Garden but this is the garden to really see. The memorial is really beautiful.

A beautiful place to honor the 30 million + people who have succumb to the AIDS pandemic! Also, Flagging in the Park happens once a month on a Sunday from Spring through Fall every year. Last Sunday was the kick off for this year and I was amazing! So much fun! Music, dancing, lots of beautiful colors flowing through the grove. It's a bucketlist experience, for sure!

First visit in 23 years and it’s møre beautiful than I’d expected: quiet, landscaped, complete. Hopefully you’ll feel the sacredness of this place as you contemplate those who passed too soon. Thank you to all involved over the years for the vision, creation, funding (many donors), work (many volunteers) and development of the grove. 🙏🏻
