March 2022 update: we really miss the old owner but the quality hasn’t changed too much so we keep coming back! September 2020: We’re not vegan but we’re here a few times a month because it’s that good. We come back for the bear claw & chocolate custard donuts, but the old fashioned and regular donuts are delicious too. And the owner is super nice!

I’ve tried many vegan donut shops around the country (I have lived in a lot of places but also, humble brag) and this is my favorite! I love the owner, the prices are fair, and the donuts are always good. My favorite is the cinnamon crunch donut (top right in my photo) or the fruity pebbles donut although I haven’t seen it on the menu in awhile.

Go in the morning (we were told they sell out of most of their popular items in less than an hour). Every donut we had was amazing! My favorite donut is the classic glazed - like Krispy Kreme but SO much better and vegan! Very friendly service too!

I don't typically like donuts, but these ones are really good. The Vanilla Sprinkles raised donut had the perfect texture and was delicious. Definitely try this place out if you get a chance! I'm so happy that they're vegan!

Great spot! Only came thru to pick up, didn’t stay too long but the service was quick & friendly. I got the raised blueberry glazed donut, the baked strawberry glazed donut, a plain old-fashion & a dozen of donut holes. A bottle of water too because it was super hot out! Can’t wait to come back & try their gelato! I’m surprised I haven’t been here yet, will definitely be coming back again soon if time permits!

Honestly this is my go to guilty pleasure food when I’m in the mood. Been visiting this family owned donut shop for years. Always a pleasure to visit.

We moved here from Chicago, where yeah… the winters were freezing and the hills were nonexistent. But the pastry and coffee game was on point. Here near Lake Merritt, Vegan Donut Gelato has the donuts covered. Their classic yeast raised donuts are delicious and include toppings and flavors like Oreo, you classic birthday sprinkles, Boston cream, and cinnamon crumble. I’m still hoping for crunchberries, but would visit again!

These donuts are bomb, you can’t even tell they’re vegan, especially the creme filled ones 😍 been going here years, the guy is nice too

Vegan raised/yeast donuts are so hard to find, yet Vegan Donut Gelato has them and in so many delicious flavors. Ordered 10 donuts & some donut holes for delivery while I was in town. This spot is an instant must-visit for me in the Bay Area! My favorite was the matcha donut. The frosting cut the sweetness perfectly.

This place is nice. Although I went after the morning rush, there was still a great selection of vegan soy free doughnuts! The doughnuts taste amazing!! Try the apple filled bear claw or the strawberry filled glazed doughnut...mmmmm! Yummy! Also, friendly service!

Great variety of donuts and everything here is vegan. Donuts are fluffy and delicious. Also the vietamese iced coffee totally hits the spot

Owner is so friendly, they have an awesome buy one get one free Vietnamese coffee deal and their donuts are fresh and delicious!

They were out of all Gelato, didn't know when they would have it back in the cases. That kinda sucks for any Gelato place to be out of ice cream on the 4th of July weekend???

Vegan donut has the most delicous and fluffiest Vegan donuts! This place is totally gem in the Oakland. I always grab my donuts for parties and special events from here. Never dissappoints in terms of flavors selections and texture is amazing. Very friendly service .
