Let the first line of my review, be all you need when deciding whether to patron Chisme Catina SF; ITS THE BEST MEXICAN CUISINE {Hands Down} In San Francisco. Now, I know, that’s high praise, because SF is a foodie city and has a rich cultural history for Mexican and Latino cuisine. Chisme sets itself apart from other restaurants because of the: (a) Quality of food, (b) Unique and healthy variety, (3) Sangrias, and (4) Quality of staff and leadership. I had the opportunity to interact with one of the managers at Chisme, Maria, and she is the ABSOLUTE BEST. In addition to the amazing food and drink choices, the quality of personnel at any business, is of the utmost importance. Feeling cared for in addition to leaving satisfied is what makes Chisme one of SF’s best kept secrets. Now, everything on the menu is good, but, the Shrimp Burrito / Taco is the BOMB! The portions are generous and quality of the ingredients are unmatched. I had the Shrimp Burrito, Chips and Guacamole, and I couldn’t have been more satisfied. Now, what makes this even better, especially for Vegans / Vegetarians, are the jack fruit tacos. Yes, you read that right, jack fruit tacos. This place has everything and is worth a try. Also, if you’re looking for a job, Chisme Is Hiring!

The tacos here are yummy! I tried the Pulled Chicken (very good) and Via Via (ok). The chips were a nice size without being overwhelming - guac was good too. The outdoor seating area was nice, but it's a hill so the tables were a bit slanted. Overall good experience - I'd eat here again!

These were some of the prettiest tacos I’ve ever had. Not only did they look pretty, they tasted amazing! We had the pulled chicken and shrimp tacos, both insanely good and juicy. This is obviously more modern vs tradition tacos but I usually don’t have a preference as long as they’re good. They also gave us their spiciest sauce to try which was like crack to me. Overall, super solid spot that I’ll definitely look to return to so I can try to everything else!

We had a great experience eating at Chisme. We ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos, steak tacos, fried plantain, chicken quesadilla, and ginger limeade. Everything was delicious. The sauces were all very nicely flavored. Mole was nice. Would highly recommend. Update: we’ve been coming back frequently, tried more options, all the vegan tacos are to die for! Flan is delicious, works highly recommend!

So good- both food, and service. Ordered the mahi mahi and the skirt steak tacos- both were delicious- but if I were to choose (if you like fish)- I would go with the mahi mahi. The sauces in the tacos were dope, every bite was freaking rad! It also comes with their house sweet and spicy habanero sauce, which added heat for sure. Enjoyed all these tasty treats with sangria and beer! Thank you!

Amazing food - especially the vegan tacos with jackfruit were delicious! It is a little expensive though, but since the service is really kind and the food keeps it promises, i would really recommend it :)

Stopped after a long day walking around town and caught happy hour. Just had the chips, but the salsa was amazing. Really nice Dragon Pop! dragon fruit sour. Are outside in the parking spot shanty. Heater was a nice touch. Wished the place was a bit less sticky and the service was a bit warmer.

Great food. Creative changes to classic Mexican. At times maybe too creative, but judge for yourself. Nice casual place to eat. Update: May 27, 2023. There are times when I really hate this city, but then something happens that restores my faith in humanity. That's what happened to today as I walked by Chisme. Take a look at my photos please. Guys A+ and head of the class. Effort truly is everything. My sincerest wishes for your charitable act and continued success for a long time to come. J

really solid tacos. I tried the shrimp taco and a skirt steak taco. Both are very good. I wish I tried the vegan tacos because those seem like their specialty. I do prefer garaje though for their meat tacos

We ordered steak tacos, shrimp tacos and some chips with guac. The food came fast and service was nice. However, my boyfriend and I got stomache and diarrhea right after having the food. Given that we both felt sick after consuming the food here and that food in this place is way more expensive than many other taco places (like$12 for simply chips and guac and like $14 for 2 tacos), I don’t recommend this place.

Tasty and light Tacos. They have vegan and vegetarian options. Tried their jack fruit, eggplant and plantain tacos. All of the were good and I liked the jack fruit one the most.

Loved it! Food was wonderful (not too spicy), especially for the price! Atmosphere is layed back. Only few customers (Wednesday, 6pm), nice service and very fast meal prep.
