Kirk was an amazing and lively tour guide. We got to see lots of major tour sites and the ride was super fun. Highly recommend booking, totally worth it 🤩 Once we hopped back on we then had Marquis and Mr. Lee and they were up-beat and hilarious. Great company!

We took the tour today, starting off with a quick jaunt to the Fisherman’s Wharf, where we got on and met with Marquis the tour guide, and Pablo the driver. I have to say, hands down, this fabulous duo really made the entire trip memorable. Marquis was very knowledgeable, funny, engaging, and always jumped to help anyone that needed it. Another nice touch is whilst we were on a quick break for 15 min, he still answered our questions. Hands down one of the best tour guides ever. As for Pablo, he had a real eye for safety whilst driving our bus. I never felt as if there were any worry. That is no small feat, as the traffic in SAN Francisco can be challenging at times. The duo worked masterfully together. Edit to add: it was our 20th anniversary, and we added this tour to our plans. We plan to come back, and definitely hope both Marquis and Pablo will be our duo again, they are that good. Thank you a million times over! We will be back!

Would give no stars if I could. Was told by the girl selling the ticket bus came every 20 minutes. Once on the bus was told it was every 90 minutes. Several of us on the bus got dropped off at one of the stops. Was told to be back in 90 minutes. All came back to the spot at least 10 minutes early. One in the group saw the bus go by without stopping despite waving to try and get the drivers attention. After we were all standing there we decided to get the city bus and go back to get a refund. The two people we spoke with (particularly a woman of Indian decent) was rude and actually called the police on our group. Issue was not resolved and now I need to dispute this with my credit card company. Cop even told us they receive multiple complaints about this company and suggested we use the Muni bus system instead (which we have and it is far more reliable than this tour company)

Worst experience ever. We waited an hour and half for the bus EVERY TIME. It’s advertised as hop on hop off but FIRST don’t purchase a ticket from this company and SECOND don’t hop off if you are dumb like me and purchased a ticket because you will just get stuck on a corner waiting for a bus instead of actually site seeing. The manager was also insanely rude. I had to call about 10 times for anyone to pick up the phone. Twice they said “the bus is one minute away” and then 25 minutes later I had to call again because nobody showed up. There is a bigger bus tour company that you should try. They have a lot more buses and their website actually tracks the buses for you.

False advertisement, and very rude customer service. First bus came at 11:30am while website says 9:30am. They say next bus is after 1 hour, but I doubt. When I asked a reason, they explained it used to be before pandemic, and they didn't update the website. Also they were very harsh, almost fighting. While waiting the bus to move, I've seen at least 5-6 BigBusTour buses. Just use other bus, this one is the worst. I should have read the reviews first. Looks like they have been this bad for a long.

TLDR: terrible company, wasted hours of our vacation waiting, no response from many many calls. Vacation time is too scarce to spend waiting for a bus to never show up. We got hustled into buying from this company instead of Big Bus because they have copied the Big Bus stops. The buses were ancient and dirty. Narration was lax, mostly saying what street we were on. We really zoomed past notable landmarks and cool buildings and couldn’t ask questions because the driver is the narrator (also maybe unsafe?). Finally, they let us know once on the bus that they were skipping the two stops that we wanted to go to. We walked instead and upon returning to where we were dropped off, they never showed up after 60+ min waiting. Their guarantee is 45 min. I called their phone number many times but got no response. I’m sure this sounds like a whiny post, but vacation time is scarce and this tour cost a lot of money.

We NEVER got the chance to take this tour due to DISHONESTY!!!! This was one of the WORST experiences as a tourist I’ve ever encountered, and I’ve been to 49 states!! We bought tickets, then the man who sold them to us said it would be an hour. After an hour and a half we discovered the bus was broken down, and that another was on its way. This would be understandable, but the manager told us it would be 15 minutes for about another 45 minutes... no need to string us along, just had to be honest. He told us to call the number on his brochure to get our money back after no bus showed up at the time he was CERTAIN it would be there. We called the brochure, the top bigger number, and was put through to spam-like advertising for life alert bracelet and another “special offer” about cars before I called the smaller number. I did get through to a human, who sounded like the man at the bus yesterday. I asked him about the refund, then he told me all refunds were issued yesterday, that I got back on the bus, which I CERTAINLY did NOT!! He then tells me that he can’t refund money, that their machine can’t refund money and that I have to dispute the charges. (How did he handle the refunds yesterday then??). I wish I didn’t have to give Hop On Hop Off one star to write this review.

Great way to see the city whether it's your first time or your tenth time. I've done it a few times over the years and like to see the changes in the city. You can hop on and Hop Off on the many stops they make. The narration by the driver is very informative and fun. It crosses over the Golden Gate Bridge which is quite a sight to see and it is quite cold while passing over that bridge. On my most recent trip it was 90° in the city but when we crossed over the bridge it felt like it was 50 degrees! If you want to see the sites you have to sit upstairs in the open air.

SF Deluxe Sightseeing Tours provided an overall decent experience. While the tour itself was informative and covered the main attractions, there was a disappointing incident. Towards the end of the tour, we were left at a bus stop while we were clicking some pictures, and unfortunately, it turned out to be the last bus for the day. This left us feeling stranded and inconvenienced. On a positive note, the tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging, sharing interesting facts about San Francisco's landmarks. The bus was comfortable and clean, making the journey enjoyable. However, the unexpected inconvenience at the end of the tour did affect our overall impression.

This tour is just a scam! I feel bad for the drivers as they have all got great characters. The only to take this is to not get off the bus AT ALL! The 15min bus wait for every stop has become 1.5HR! And it's they are only operating the RED LINE! No other line to hop on! This tour is a joke and the fact that they are still giving the brochures is misleading people! They don't answer customer service too so good luck with that if you ever got off a stop not frequently by UBER/TAXI drivers.

Horrible experience, left waiting for one and half hours. They have a raggedy bus clue number one, and then they lie when you call for next ride to arrive they lie by saying they had a bus just left, they didn’t know we’d been waiting there 30minutes. There was no bus earlier. Every time we’d call another lie, asking us what else we’d like to walk to to tour while we wait for them. What the hell. We waited a hour and an hour and a half of our vacation. I will complain to the hotel. This is terrible. Reviews that are decent with the photos seem a little suspicious, probably employee or family member post, they looks and read similar. BEWARE - Is all I can say. When we got back on the bus another passengers said they had the same experience. Surprised they got back on the next day. Keep my money- no thanks lesson learned read reviews.

I will start by saying the drivers were great, they were knowledgeable, helpful, and courteous. Overall the price was reasonable. We wanted to get an early start as we had a lot planned for the day, so we went to the Union Square first pickup point expecting to start our tour. After getting a good spot on top of the bus, we ended up leaving almost half an hour later than the scheduled time. We then found out that this was not the tour, we had to meet up with another bus. This bus was full in the good seating up top, so we sat in the bottom. Not a big deal as we were getting off after a few stops, but would have been pretty disappointing if we were doing the whole tour that way. The frequency of these busses is also less than other hop-on hop-off busses.

We truly enjoyed the tour. All the personnel are friendly and courteous. Also, the tour driver and his dog are wonderful. We had such a good time, and I absolutely will recommend to take this service and the hope in and hope our tours, and I am for sure will take it again when I have visitors. We took a one tour showing my niece who is visiting from Spain. 20 stops and sightseeing the Enbarcadero, China Town, and driving Golden Gate Bridge was fantastic. I wish I remember the driver's and his dog's name. Thank you, Dolores

We paid $90 for 2 tour tickets and waited well over an hour for a bus to arrive but none showed. We decided not to take the tour as we had other plans and were running out of time, so we asked the rep on union square for a refund. He called his manager - I spoke to the manager who said if we emailed a photo of our tour receipt that we would be refunded. I did this and I got no reply. $90 wasted. Wish I had read the reviews here first. Avoid.

Excellent staff. They went above and beyond to help my mom who had a mobility issue. We had a great experience. The whole lap took around 2 hours and had a 15 min stop on the Golden Gate Bridge to take pictures. Definitely recommend!

I guess we got lucky, my husband and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the "Hop on Hop Off" bus tour in San Francisco, and it was nothing short of amazing! From the moment I stepped onto the bus, I knew I was in for a unique and entertaining ride. First and foremost, our driver, Chin, was an absolute delight, navigating the bustling streets of San Francisco with expertise and bringing an incredible sense of humor to the tour. Chin's witty commentary and hilarious anecdotes had the entire bus in stitches, and his wealth of knowledge about the city's history and culture added depth to every stop. Adding to the charm, Saggy, the adorable bulldog who accompanied us, instantly won the hearts of everyone on the bus. Overall, the combination of a fantastic tour guide like Chin and the charming presence of Saggy the Bulldog made this "Hop on Hop Off" bus tour in San Francisco an absolute must-do. We didn't "Hop on and off" but just enjoyed the whole tour in one swoop. Just to note the bus can get cold on the top especially going over the bridge so prepare accordingly and the seats were a bit old. However If you're looking for a San Francisco adventure that's both informative and filled with laughter, don't miss the opportunity to ride with Chin and Saggy--they're a dynamic duo you won't soon forget! Unfortunately we booked at the horrible big bus tour but I would've booked with Deluxe because of Joseph. He was friendly and wasn't inappropriate like the other company. I can appreciate the hustle but even more appreciated their professionalism. While they may not have as many busses as the other horrible company- you do get a real person nararrating and no problems getting a seat. If you have to make a choice, choose Deluxe. Thanks Joseph and your cute dog for being friendly.

I start with the good and end with the awful. First: the tour guide, Damien, was amazing. His sense of humor and knowledge of the city made the tour worth it. Thanks to him. However, the company is very disorganized, misinforming when selling tickets, late in leaving on time and so forth. I called their number to see what’s going on and the owner came up with bunch of excuses and refused to give me his name. Very unprofessional with lack of customer service. We got on the bus at 10:45 am at Union Square location and the tour didn’t start until 12 pm at pier 45! I would not recommend them!

My 17 year old son and I decided to take a day trip to SF from the Sacramento area, never having done a tour of the city before. We were planning on the "other" company bus tour which was more known, but the sales gal that was near our parking garage was very sweet and concise in her explanation of why this tour would be better. She had us at "you get a live person narrating the tour instead of a recording in your ears." We booked, shopped for a little bit, then got on the bus. We had the best time! Chino was our tour guide and we have nothing but great things to say about him! He was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable. He made every little bit of the tour interesting and fun. He even spoke directly to my son at the Golden Gate Bridge stop about his own time in the military, and engaged my son in a conversation about his future. We cannot recommend this tour enough because of the personal interaction with our guide! Thanks Chino!

I don’t get all the negative reviews. The tour was great, our driver gave us very detailed information about the areas’ history. We were even taken to locations off route that our driver wanted to show us. Overall great tour, but hopping on/off is not the best as the driver skipped stops and started driving off even before others got down the stairs.

I wish I could give zero stars. Do not waste your money on this bus tour. It’s a scam. We bought tickets for the next day and they even gave us a “deal”. We waited at the bus stop for 2 hours and they never showed up. I called the number and left a message twice and never got a response. We ended up walking a block and taking the San Francisco Big Bus Hop on Hop off Tour and it was awesome!

Staff super friendly. Phone was about to die had no power cable she provided me with one for free. Spero our tour guy was good had lot of knowledge. Had no issues with times hopping off or hopping on. First ride was at 2:30 bus showed up on time the second ride was scheduled at 5:30 guess what it was there and on time. I fully recommend this tour. I had a blast, plus bonus free ponchos where given out for the upper deck.

The ride was enjoyable and our tour guide Susanne was very friendly, informative, and entertaining. It was a hop-on-and-off tour but we stayed on as we were reluctant to get off on any of the stops because we were told busses were running ever 1-1.5 hours. The bus did stop for about 15 minutes at the Golden Gate bridge where we were all able to get off briefly to take pictures. Overall nice experience but it would've been nicer if they had more frequent busses so that we could get off and explore.

My wife and I definitely feel San Francisco is such an amazing city! It has so much to offer. So we made a Northern California summer road trip so that we could let our children appreciate it as well. Years back, my wife and I took a bus tour as an initial “introduction” to the city and found it very helpful and informative. And a great way to note those areas of interest to return to again. So we decided to do the same this time as well. We came across the San Francisco Deluxe Sightseeing Tour bus as we were walking on The Embarcadero. The agent was incredibly helpful, friendly, and helped us get the best plan for our family. Plus we could take our Vizsla on the bus with us. The driver was fantastic: he truly had a knowledge and passion for his great city! Only advice: 1. On days with high volumes of people in the city, EVERYTHING runs a little slower. 2. There are now a few areas that tour buses cannot pass directly in front of, so you will want to hop off there and then catch the next bus later.

  • 4/5 Robert C. 2 years ago on Google
Pros. Susan was a great guide. Fun 90min tour of the city on a beautiful sunny SF day. Cons. Super hard to find where/when we could get picked up for the tour. Ended up walking to 'first stop' on Taylor Street after calling. Phone numbers hard to navigate, website out of date. Ask for when pickups are before disembarking. Next available pickup would be 1.5hrs.
