My wife came to San Francisco with three broken toes. Due to recommendation by general practitioners she made an appointment with Dr. Kevin R. Stone. At the Stone Clinic she received professional care and service from the very beginning. Dr. Stone removed the TENs in her foot with great care. After the operation my wife returned to the Stone Clinic for follow-up and rehabilitation. Whereas my wife could hardly move during our first months in San Francisco we now go jogging again every weekend and have just done some great hiking in Yosemite Valley. Thanks a lot, Dr. Stone! If we would recommend you to others? Of course, not hesitating for a second.

Dr. Stone has given me hope again to live pain free after almost a decade of pain and no motion in my ankle. The staff is incredible even when I had a million questions about billing. Dr. Stone is a genius and truly the best surgeon I’ve ever dealt with in the many surgeries I’ve had over the years. Would recommend to everyone.

The care at the Stone Clinic is exquisite. Dr. Stone and staff go out of their way to develop techniques to reduce or eliminate pain and anxiety. I am SO impressed with their skill, patience, compassion and kindness! Their medicine is cutting edge and they keep striving to improve outcomes. The outcome of my surgery is excellent. I have started hiking trails and cross country skiing again! I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be a patient of this clinic team!

I just hit my 2 year anniversary from my bio knee replacement. I tore my ACL wrestling 23 years ago, and the surgeon who repaired it back then placed it vertically which caused the joint to be unstable. Due to this, I experienced a bucket handle tear in my meniscus in 2012. I had surgery to repair the meniscus, but it didn't really work. As a result, my meniscus was left degraded and I started to experience knee pain. My old knee doctor who did the original surgery told me to stop running period or I would need a total knee replacement before age 40. Alternatively, he offered an osteotomy to rebalance the weight load on the knee. This is an awful surgery that doesn't really work. None of these options were acceptable to me. Enter Dr. Stone. He offered everything I was looking for, which was amazing. 1.) He offered a meniscus transplant which solved the imbalance problem. 2) He offered cartilage repair which staves off knee degeneration and pain. 3) His rehab programs are very progressive and geared towards performance. 4) He would finally fix my ACL properly to fix my stability issues once and for all I knew it would be expensive, because he pioneered many of these techniques, and our insurance industry doesn't always like to support treatments that actually work if they are expensive. I saved up for it over a few years and then 2020 hit perfectly to stave off travel for work. The stars aligned and I scheduled my surgery. Overall it was a great experience. I woke from surgery with the least pain of the 3 surgeries I have received (great anesthesiologist). I partnered with their team, Tyler, Morgan, and Shannon to really attack recovery those first 2 weeks after surgery, and they set me up with an intensive at-home program that I would follow for the first year. All great people. Within 1 year I was playing pick-up soccer, running regularly, and am as active as I want to be. After 2 years, I continue to be extremely happy with the results. They say your legs (and teeth) are the key to your health in old age. This and lasik eye surgery have been the best investments I have made period. If your personal happiness is tied to your activity level, I would consider Dr Stone and team to be a priceless resource (assuming you are a good candidate).

After 20 years of pain and 3 previous surgeries, I did not think my arthritic, cartilage torn knee would ever feel normal again. I had two prior ACL replacements, two meniscectomies, chipped bone, and torn cartilage that could not be remedied by previous surgeons. Dr. Stone performed a partial knee replacement on me at 49 and gave me my active life and sanity back. The follow-up program and comprehensive rehab plan made a big difference. Even more helpful were the many resources Dr. Stone’s staff provided for qualified PT’s in my area, affordable lodging in SF for the surgery, help on how to bill insurance...they are a genuinely caring and knowledgeable staff. The whole experience exceeded all expectations; I can ski and play tennis with no pain and I could not be happier!

Dr Stone was refreshingly informational and upfront regarding the condition of my damaged, deteriorated and aged arthritic shoulder. He clearly discussed the options available to me which might, or might not, restore some level of improvement for this octogenarian. I chose a somewhat novel procedure offered by Dr Stone which was not available through my HMO. This treatment was injected directly to my shoulder joint by Dr Stone as an in-office procedure assisted by a pleasant certified nurse. Directly following the injection a Stone Clinic physical therapist gave me hands-on, site-specific therapy to help distribute and absorb the injected therapy. It is too early to assess the long term level of success but I thoroughly understand the process by which this injection might work. There has been enough of an initial improvement to make me consider that Dr Stone's advanced therapy was well worth the effort and expense of coming to the professionally pleasant Stone Clinic.

I had an accident 20 years back so this time other doctors asked me to go for ankle fusion or ankle replacement surgery. I wasn’t ready for it, I new there is something better than that and found Dr. Stone clinic. I had ankle extensive articular cartilage past graft, debridement, and removal of osteophytes with Dr stone. After 3 months of surgery, I am getting better on PT and have started walking with partial weight bearing. Hopefully I will be walking soon. I appreciate the whole Dr. Stone team for their help and support.

I received abysmal treatment from the office staff and the doctor. Weeks ago I exchanged emails with the office and was told the doctor had approved me for a consultation after reviewing all of my studies, including ultrasounds and 3D tomography. When I didn't receive a Zoom link in advance, I emailed the staff at my scheduled appointment time requesting the meeting link. No response. I then called the office and they said they would follow up with a Zoom link shortly. An hour after the appointment was supposed to begin, I called again and was told the doctor was finishing up and that I was next on the list. They then gave me a call and I was informed that the doctor was declining the consultation because my knees are "too deformed" to work with his techniques. Why, then, was I given an appointment in the first place? Why was I told that he had already reviewed my imaging? I spent hours uploading my medical documents and corresponding with the office and waited weeks, then I'm given this frankly alarming information with absolutely no follow up from the doctor about what my knees being "too deformed" means... wow. It's a lack of respect for my time, but also my humanity. How can it be that the doctor can tell me that my knees are “too deformed” and then deny me the opportunity to understand what this means for my health and my body? Being told this, and then denied access to a professional opinion, is unethical and is not in line with the “do no harm” promise of the medical profession. I'm reeling at this shocking, unprofessional, and unethical treatment by both the doctor and his staff.

My experience with Dr. Stone and all his team couldn't have been better. I had a successful meniscus repair surgery and the physical therapy program started the next day and it was key to a fast recovery. I was able to walk without crutches 10 days after the intervention and I feel stronger and healthier than before. I highly recommend Dr. Stone and his team! Thanks so much!!!

Dr. Stone and his rehab team at The Stone Clinic are first class. His ability to use natural tissues and innovative techniques to help save your actual joint, instead of forcing you into a joint replacement, is what the next generation of surgeons should be doing every day. His rehab team, especially my PT Allison, are compassionate, extremely thorough, and responsive, and they push you to help you get the best results possible. If you can, choose The Stone Clinic!!

A TKR at 75 is problematic for a myriad of reasons. Dr. Stone's robotically-guided surgical skills and, just as important, his philosophy that follow-on Physical Therapy should be approached as an athlete in training allowed me to return to competitive sports I had forgone for years because of my knee injury. I participate in a variety of sports; skiing, hiking, basketball, softball, pickleball, etc. Six weeks out of surgery I was back on the court playing competitive pickleball, and now at 6 months post surgery I can participate in whatever the rest of my body allows, i.e., the rest of my 75 year-old body, not my knee, sets my limits of participation.
