An amazing bed.. like.. the best on our entire 3 week trip up to Seattle. Easy check in and FREE parking. Unheard of in this high end part of SF. It is a hostel, but we had a private room with our own bathroom. Cleaning team was great.. not a speck of dust or issues here. They had elevator issues, but they were fixing when we left,- really wasn't an issue for us. They have a good selection of breakfast take and go snacks.. no.. it's not a hot meal.. but come on people- it's not a full service 4 star hotel ;) and with COVID.. the options were better than the 5 star place we stayed the previous night. Cow Hollow is really convenient to the wharf and close to the highway access for Golden Gate etc... We walked to Union for meals and the bodega is right on the block for drinks etc.

It’s clean. It doesn’t seem to attract homeless/crazy folks. That’s the end of positives. The hostel is built into a hotel building so the rooms have their own hotel style bathroom. That means if someone wants to use the toilet/shower/sink at night - it’s right there and it’s likely going to wake you up. Also you don’t have the standard shelf/power plug by the bunk you get in normal hostels. The towels reek of bleach. My skin was itchy/irritated from it. This is the only easily fixable issue. I’ve stayed there for 4 days total with 3 different towels and it was the same with all of them. The bunk beds aren’t solid. If you get the bottom bunk and no one on top then it’s not an issue at all. But if you get top bunk, any movement (really any) will shake the bunk. Your movement will bother the person below. And their movement will shake the whole bunk and wake you up. Also, no kitchen or laundry on premises. Very not hostel-like.

I stayed here for 3 nights in mid June and I had a great experience. With the prices in San Francisco on a solo trip there was no way I was making this trip (safely) without a hostel. I was glad to find out that San Francisco had an abundance of hostels (around 10). I was deciding between this one and one at Fisherman Wharf. I ultimately decided on this one because of its more central location and easier to find the Lime Scooters around here. I started with 2 nights and extended to a 3rd. All in all I payed around $150 for my 3 nights and felt I had a great deal. First 2 nights I was in a 4 bed with some great roommates. The 3rd night I ended up in a 6 bed and most roommates were very introverted, but I can’t at all complain for the price. This facility was pretty clean and felt very safe. I had no concerns over my belonging safety or mine which is my priority in a hostel. Overall would definitely recommend to others and I look forward to staying in some more Samsun hostels in the future!

This was my first experience in a hostel. It was very clean and the beds were comfy! It’s a bit of an older building, but you can tell they keep up with it. I was a lone traveler, and I felt very safe on Lombard. All the staff members were helpful and friendly. Also, they were very adamant about guests following Covid protocols (ie: masks in public areas, no eating in lobby) which was great. It’s also in a great area for public transportation and easy to get anywhere. I literally was all over San Francisco. The only thing I would suggest is to bring your own towel/wash rag because they have small towels and they only give you one with no wash rag.

Such a cool hostel!! This was my first time staying at one and i couldn't have chosen a better location than San Francisco! The staff was SUPER cool, all of my fellow hostel mates were awesome and my dorm mates were cool too! Met some guys from here in the US as well as London which was AWESOME!! The hostel was very clean and well kept and the price , you just couldn't beat! Along with breakfast in the morning. Such a cool spot, 300/10 recommend! :)

We had a wonderful stay at Samesun. It’s located at the center of San Francisco and all the tourist spots are reachable within 30 mins by bus. Location is very safe. We were in 6-bed sharing room. Rooms are spacious and clean. They do the cleaning daily which is the best part. The female staff at Samesun is super friendly and welcoming. The only thing that can be improved a bit is the breakfast scene. More variety can be added to the menu.

Good value for money and excellent location. Walking distance from cool cafes and restos (no weirdos on the way). The room was simple and clean - OK for a short weekend. There is noise from the street and also from the top floor but if you use earplugs, it shouldn't be an issue.

As a solo traveler, I recently stayed at Samesun San Francisco and had a pleasant experience. The property was clean and conveniently located near bus stops for easy access to public transportation. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. One notable feature was the availability to receive Amazon orders, which was convenient for my online shopping needs. While the overall stay was enjoyable, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. The bed was a bit small, and the cupboard safe only accommodated my backpack. However, the toilet was clean, and the towels were changed upon request. The breakfast provided was decent and served as a good way to start the day. I appreciated the presence of a kitchenette with a microwave, allowing me to prepare quick meals when needed. Additionally, having access to running tea and coffee throughout the day was a nice touch. The reception was available 24/7, ensuring that any requests or inquiries could be addressed promptly. Overall, my stay at Samesun San Francisco was comfortable and convenient. The friendly staff, cleanliness of the property, and proximity to public transportation were the highlights. Despite the small bed and limited safe space, the amenities provided, such as the kitchenette and availability of tea and coffee, added to the overall positive experience.

My partner and I stayed in a private room last weekend. definitely a good hostel experience! Pros: -The room was bright and spacious and felt very clean. It had everything we needed for our stay, and some amenities one doesn't usually find in a hostel (private balcony! TV, mini fridge and hair dryer in the rooms) -Free parking in the garage! -All the staff we interacted with were super friendly and helpful. -There is a lounge and kitchenette available for guests, in addition to a small basic breakfast service in the morning. Cons: - Coffee was empty both mornings we stayed (word to the wise- y'all should get a bigger brewer rather than trying to fill your big dispenser urn from that little Mr. Coffee!) - It was pretty noisy between street noise outside on Lombard and the person stomping around above us, but Samesun provided a pair of earplugs on each of the nightstands, which helped a lot. Overall, I'd stay again next time I come to San Francisco. Good value for the price and I like the option to take part in the community events.

I enjoyed almost everything about the Samesun Hostel in San Francisco. Great staff, interesting mix of young people, very clean, balcony, PARKING! Good location for public transit but that is a different issue altogether... The only problem is that bunk beds are not a good fit for people of a certain size or age. I had specifically asked for a lower bunk when I reserved, but that was missed and changes were not available. Very difficult for me, much less anyone truly disabled. Nevertheless I heartily recommend- the price for my 2 nights was outstanding!

One of the better hostels in San Francisco at a nice location, where we felt safe. Sadly our room was pretty cold and the windows were so old that it sounded as if they were open even when they were closed. But the service is nice and you can park your car there. Plus good food around! Try the ramen a few meters away and the sandwiches right across the street. And it's close to a few sights like fisherman's wharf.

I had such an amazing stay. The staff was so accommodating and friendly they went above and beyond to help us have a comfortable stay. We loved the view of the balcony room but my husband is a very light sleeper. They moved our room to a quiet room on our 3 night despite them being completely booked up for the weekend they were still able to make space for us. I would definitely recommend this place is so worth the price. The complimentary coffee in the morning is so good me and my husband had like 5 cups each we asked the receptionist where they get the coffee and they told us it was a local Bay Area company. They also said that they were remodeling soon and are going to have a full kitchen and another common space so we will definitely be coming to visit again. Thank you so much for everything we really enjoyed our stay.

First time staying in a hostel. Stayed here for 3 nights traveling for my mother’s birthday. Stayed in a private room no balcony with a queen bed. The room is big, was able to control the temperature perfectly. The bed was okay, was ready to hear noise due to reviews but honestly it was quite for us no different than the hotel rooms. Stayed during the week days unsure if it makes a difference. Cleaning could be a little better a wrapper and a hair thing was left on the table. But other than that it was okay. Location was perfect! Free and enough parking was a plus. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Person who checked us in was awesome (i just can’t remember the name) Gave us the details and also tips to see the city. I loved that after certain time you have to show your key to yet in. Felt safe in this area.will be returning to this place. I recommend.

Great spot to stay in San Francisco, I got a private room with a balcony and it was 100% worth it. Room is very clean and the view of the city is nice. The front desk crew was very nice and helpful. The location is very safe and tons to do in the area. Only thing I would say is that since you are on a busy street it can be a lil noisy at times but not to bad at all. I would definitely stay here again. ALSO laundry spot i literally a 5min walk away if you need that.

Newly remodeled place. nice and simple hotel with clean rooms and basic amenities but good location with parking included in this city which is a plus. easy getting in and out. Comfortable bed. I think it is for security but awkward in and out: everyone in party had to show room key to get in. No breakfast is available due to covid restrictions

Highly recommended. The rooms are wide and clean, with towels and shampoo/body foam. Nice welcoming environment. The girls at the reception are super kind. Good Selection of tea and coffee available all time. Breakfast was a little disappointing but since it is not 100% a hotel, but mainly a hostel, do not expect a great breakfast.

I liked it! Nice staff, good rooms, comfy beds, clean shower, my room had a balcony. But I left something for my roommate while check out and the reception girl with extra long eyelashes didn’t do it. Either forgot or left it 🚬for herself, lol

We had originally checked in to the hotel across the road (Francisco bay inn) and it was AWFUL. We left within 30 minutes and walked across to Samesun, which was the polar opposite experience. The lady on the desk was so helpful, reassuring, and helped us book a private room to stay in. The room was clean, modern, comfortable with great facilities. The room was a little loud at night being road facing, however they provide earplugs! Such a lovely stay and great location to explore. Thank you for a great stay.

Wow! The carpet in my room 204 was so nice and clean. The staff is GREAT. The room was so clean! The mattress is very, very comfortable; possibly a queen but at least a double. The flat screen TV is hung on the wall nicely and gets basic channels. I love the view from the balcony. I think it's great being on the street but they did provide earplugs. I don't hear any noise though and it's 8:21pm on Tuesday night. I think everything they have provided is thoughtful. Tiny, cute fridge WITH BOTTLE OPENER ATTACHED. That's a big deal to me since I enjoy trying new beer and always forget a bottle opener. Everything is simply and cute. The towels are decent/fine. They provide soap and shampoo, plus a hair dryer!! There were hangers!!!! That's thoughtful. This is all you need and exactly what you need when traveling. A safe, clean place to sleep.

My favorite & only hostel I stay in when I come to San Francisco. They have events to connect with your hostel mates, fresh water, refrigerator, a couch and a dining room. With bag storage and a public bathroom. I love coming here and I don’t think I never will. Chase bank nearby. Tons of transportation and a walk away from the shore, we’re you can see the Golden Gate Bridge.

We loved this hostel - great location, clean, modern rooms with privacy curtains, towels were provided and clean linen. The common area was a little small but it was comfy and good vibes to make friends in. They also provided free breakfast. The staff not have been any nicer they were so helpful with directions and they were very attentive - great vibes from all of them, we didn’t catch any names but whoever checked us out really early on the 19th of august was an angel - even at the crack of dawn she had high spirits and it finished of our stay perfectly!

Front desk was friendly and accommodating from the beginning. The hostel itself is clean, well stocked, and quiet. We had a private suite with bathroom, and it was the nicest hostel I have ever stayed in. Location was fantastic, super quiet and close to lots of sites. Free parking lot was spacious and I felt safe leaving my car there overnight. Overall, great value and would definitely stay again!

I stayed in this hotel for one night only, excellent location and possibility of free use of the parking. Double room, with private bathroom, and all the comforts, very comfortable, well cleaned. Very kind and well prepared staff!

I recently stayed at the Samesun San Francisco Hotel and would give it a rating of 4 stars. The hotel's location is excellent as it is close to major attractions, making it very convenient for travelers. However, as a two-star hotel, it's important to not have high expectations in terms of service. One of the benefits of staying at this hotel is that it comes with free parking, which is a huge advantage in a city where other hotels charge $60 for overnight parking. The room was good but there was some noise from the busy street, so the hotel provided earplugs, which was a thoughtful touch. The breakfast provided was super simple and sometimes there was none available, so be prepared to find alternatives if breakfast is important to you. Additionally, the room was only cleaned if you stay for five nights or more, and then only every three days, so be prepared to manage your own cleanliness if you're staying for a shorter period. Overall, the Samesun San Francisco Hotel is a decent option for budget-conscious travelers who want to stay in a convenient location. The free parking and good location make up for the lack of service, but the noise and basic breakfast may not suit everyone's needs.

Stayed at Samesun for a few days. It's not a bad hotel but if you like sleeping you'll be disappointed with a balcony room. To make matters worse, when booking I asked for a quiet room. I got anything but. Other than that is not bad

Super friendly and helpful staff, private rooms unusually very spacious and clean, balcony facing the street. Good location, excellent value considering the price! Looks like they run regular events in common areas you can sign up to, so would be a great spot for solo travellers looking to make friends! Oh, and a rarity in the area - free undercover parking!

This hostel is an amazing place to stay! From the moment you arrive, you can feel the positive vibes. The location is perfect, situated in a safe neighborhood and close to attractions. The clean and comfortable rooms come with private bathrooms and balconies with views. Breakfast is also included. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and are always willing to help. Overall, this is an excellent hostel and I highly recommend it. You will have an unforgettable experience with the perfect combination of comfort, safety, and convenience

I absolutely loved this hotel! The staff was very welcoming and super helpful. I appreciated that they have a room where we could store our baggage when we arrived early and after checking out. The rooms were very clean and we had a very comfortable stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who's looking for a cute quick get away.

We had a great experience here. Fair prices. Clean beds and baths. Mostly very friendly service. Good walking location. Breakfast included. All in all it feels very comfortable and chill here. A lot of great travellers. Can recommend this hostel!

Stayed in a dorm for 1 night. Loved my experience. Staff is super friendly. Rooms are clean and spacious. Conveniently located. Only negative point is that the electrical outlets are not by the bed so it's not super convenient if you want to charge your phone overnight. But overall my stay was great so 5 stars and I'd definitely stay again if I'm back in town.

I absolutely love this place! Not sure about their shared room, but I was staying in their queen double bedroom. Perfect size for a couple, nice balcony too! The manager, Lindsay, was outstanding in her communication, and she and her staffs have made my trip in SF so good!!

Great spot, free parking. There are two levels for parking, but the lower level is not low car friendly FYI. Scrape City.

Very nice and clean hostel. I loved to stay here. The stuff was incredibly nice and helpful. Great location, walkable distance to many of the San Francisco attractions (Ghirardelli square, Pier 39, Fisherman’s wharf…etc). If you’re in San Francisco, traveling on a budget then this is the right spot to stay! :)

  • 5/5 Jamila L. 2 years ago on Google
They have lockers, luggage storage, hot and cold running water, a place to get water downstairs and one small fridge for guests. Great views of SF from balcony. Wish they had more common areas and a kitchen but for the price it’s a great deal. The ramen place next door is fantastic.
