I have been trying to reach the Inn at the Opera for 3 days. The phone doesn't even ring - just goes to a recording that the phone doesn't work. Great, so I called Interval Int'l (I booked through) and they said they can't help me. All I'm trying to do is give notice to the Inn at the Opera front desk that I can not arrive on my scheduled day because I'll be elsewhere at a funeral. I'm coming the next day. UPDATE: Never was able to reach the Inn by phone. Showed up for my reservation and they had no record of it. Their phone line has been down for two weeks due to construction issues. The manager said they could book me somewhere else for part of the week because they didn't have a room for the whole week. I passed on that. After applying some pressure, Interval Int'l gave me my banked week back. This could have all been avoided if the Inn at the Opera either had a working phone, or some other published way to reach them.

A gem in the city! Rooms all newly remodeled! Incredible service at the front desk. Very comfy bed; slept great. Walls are bit thin for noise but other guests are respectful. I’m obsessed with this adorable hotel. Great rates.

We had a wonderful time in San Francisco and knowing we had Inn At the Opera to come back to made it all the better. It is a great little hotel right around the corner from some really good restaurants. Rooms were a little small (but what do you expect from a hotel in the city) and very well maintained, decor was great and will definitely return. The staff made the trip very enjoyable.

Went in October 2022. First if traveling from the airport, taking public transportation required a transfer to the Bart bus to the Civic center stop. Then a long walk with luggage through some questionable areas… but about the hotel. Not only was there construction inside the lobby and downstairs which we were informed about, there was also extremely loud construction on the road in front of the hotel. Jackhammers that sounded like a freight train for a few hours. Our Uber couldn’t get down the block. We also weren’t told the only restaurant and bar downstairs was shut down. Very small elevator to fit 2 people and luggage. Looks like something from Europe. The room was tiny but brand new renovation which was nice. Small kitchenette with sink, mini fridge and microwave along with plates, cups and utensils. No air conditioning. Only a ceiling fan in the one bedroom. It got extremely hot on the top (7th floor.) There was one window in the bathroom attached to the living area which had no window treatments and looked out over a parking garage and other residential buildings. I recommend going to the bathroom with the lights off at night and hanging your towel over the shower to prevent onlookers. The tv included streaming capabilities from your cell phone however it stopped working on the second day and the front desk said they were unsure when it would work again. They did have coffee available starting at 6am daily in the lobby and gave a nice welcome package with a mini wine bottle and biscotti as well as a popcorn and nut package. Unless you are going to the SF Ballet, every place of interest we wanted to go was a minimum of $11 Uber ride. We found other Marriott properties that were more centrally located to attractions and much nicer. Will probably choose there next time.

This is a great place in the city. The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly .Only downside is the room was smaller but if you are just staying for travel it wouldn't matter much. Overall very satisfied.

Very pleased with my room. There’s a mini fridge, microwave and they even included popcorn and some chocolates on top of the usual coffee. There’s also wine glasses and other dishes (plates, cutlery etc) in the room. Front desk and other staff are very kind and welcoming. The hotel itself is really unique too; love the elevator. *update: the wifi is very spotty and doesn’t always work

This 7 floor small hotel located near civic Center, right cross the opera house. It is very clean, and really quiet. Excellent location with working distance to restaurants, market street. Friendly service. Good Bedding quality and bed. Like the wash room the best show spacious and plenty of room. Small microwave, some basic utensils. Price is fair. Will visit again!

Very clean facilities. Comfortable room. Quiet. The entire interior looked freshly painted. Location is very convenient to thep Opera, Symphony and Ballet. Also Hayes Valley shops and restaurants a few blocks away. The staff continually went above and beyond the call of duty to assist whenever I had a question or request. I will definitely stay at the Inn of the Opera on my next visit to San Francisco.

LOVED my stay at this wonderful place back in January. Quaint little place that felt luxurious inside. Great value. Staff were always super nice, especially Natalie. I would always come back to San Francisco just for her customer service honestly. Everything was a quick bus ride away. As 3 young ladies traveling, we felt safe in the neighborhood. I will always come back and stay at the Inn from now on!

Fantastic location!!! I stayed here and have had such a blast!! Mari at the front desk’s hospitality was unbeatable and made the stay five stars. Will be staying again anytime I visit San Francisco!

The Inn at the Opera has recently remodeled their rooms. Quaint but comfortable in a great location. If you'd rather not take Bart, the number 5 bus is just a few blocks away. It's very close to a lot of wonderful cafes, eateries and shops in Hayes Valley. Their night auditor is very friendly and they also have a fancy water machine just past the main lobby.

Love Love LOVE these accommodations! The wonderful staff, all at the front desk, were super-friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and kind - even remembering that it was our anniversary. The daily housekeeping was extra welcome, and the in-room coffee maker, microwave, nice dishware, glassware, and cutlery were an added bonus for small meals in our room. There was also coffee offered in the lobby each day, as well as cookies. We'll definitely stay here again! Highly recommended. I can not overstate the great staff: Cesar, Mary, Christian, as well as many others whose names fail me now.

Really a nice boutique hotel built in the 20’s and I would really give it 4.5 stars if possible. The staff was very friendly and accommodating by allowing us to check in early after a long morning of travel. My only real complaint was that the restaurant was not operating and the room was very small. Of course small hotel rooms were very common at the time this hotel was built so really not out of the ordinary.

This place was an unexpected really great find in a perfect location. It has definitely been update. Rooms are clean and even have a little kitchenette area. Plenty of mirrors for more than one girl to get ready. Temperature felt good. It would only get a bit warm/humid after a shower and opening the window would help (it was 60 degrees out). Area felt safe, far enough away from tenderloin district. Also there is 24hr staff on site. It was also close to one of the BigBusTour stops. (I recommend getting a 2 day ticket for this if you go. makes getting around easy and cheaper than uber between 10-6. The hotel also held our bags our final day as our flight was wasn’t until 10. Tip The water refilled station on each floor is super slow but there is one on the first floor that is way better.

The customer service is amazing and thoughtful when you get here. We had trouble reaching them with the phone number listed on their website but received a confirmation call a couple of days before our reservation

I feel it's still a good value however I miss the continental breakfast and The valet parking that they offered before covid. I wish they were provided both services again.

Excellent unassuming hotel near civic center. The hotel is charming, personnel is kind and helpful, the musical decor theme is a nice touch, and the room, albeit small, is well equipped and comfortable: there's hanging space, ironing board, comfortable bed and good toiletries. There's a drip coffee maker, microwave and even a toaster and some cutlery/dishware. I'd say that the only missing item is a small table.

For a 3 star hotel it was exactly what you need. Clean and comfortable rooms, very elegant decor and great value for money. Sadly no breakfast available but there are cafes on the corner that serve the purpose.

I want to write a review before I leave this place. PROS: The location, the small sweet quaint room. The kitchenette 💕 The grab and go breakfast. Ease of check in and I'm sure check out. The biggest pro for me was the helpful staff. Richard at the front desk and the other gentleman who helped me in the middle of the night with the deepest courtesy and care. I'm sorry I forget his name. He offered to switch my room but due to medical reasons I will cut my trip short instead. He made sure he left a note at front desk for me. Life is so fleeting and problems happen but kind people make all the difference. CONS: only one, in my room the base board heater rattled all night no matter where I set it to. I couldn't sleep and am unwell. I'm sure if I had let them know earlier they would have placed me accordingly.

This is a lovely place to stay. Good location, friendly staff, however the elevator is slow. The rooms are, nice but small.

Pleasantly located just two blocks easy walking distance from the Hayes district with many nice restaurants and the arts district. Also close to the Opera and Ballet of San Francisco. For us a favorite place to stay when visiting San Francisco.

The staff was really helpful and kind, Cris is an amazing person 🤗 The hotel is really cute and clean! We even had free coffee and tea every morning for what I'm really grateful for and they offered to save our luggage for us since we arrived too early for the check in. The only thing I could say it's that would've been nice to have shower cap since the shower head is fix and didn't want to wet my hair 😂 but I didn't ask the staff for it either so maybe they could've provided one :)

There is currently construction in the building. We only found out when we arrived. Walls are paper thin so you can hear everything. They don’t have a clear website attached to Google and I thought I was booking through a scam site at one point when trying to book. Our room is overall nice. The bathroom has been very nicely remodeled. TV is a little small and would be nice for 2 chairs at the table in our room so we can enjoy a small meal together. Bed and pillows are standard hotel (not too soft or firm). Very clean, friendly staff. Price is decent. Generally alright place to stay.

Great location to stay in, great rooms, and great service. Daily continental breakfast, space to keep a bike, very friendly staff. It lacked any amenities outside of the room itself, but I didn’t need any for what it’s worth. Very close to the arts as well as Hayes valley which is especially hip. Great view of the city hall as well. Didn’t have any issues with “thin walls” or the like.

One of the Best boutique hotel experiences we've ever had. Friendly staff. Great neighborhood for food, drinks, and easy walking to several music venues. Love Hayes Valley and LOVE this hotel. We will definitely be staying here for every trip to SF.

I stayed on the top floor and there was a persistent loud humming coming from a fan on the roof for the entire time. On the last day that was replaced for several hours by a drilling sound, apparently from workers. Upon checking out I was surprised to find that the hotel parking, which is around the corner and sometimes secured and sometimes not, was costing me $40 a day extra. There’s no breakfast provided. The WiFi is one where you have to login through the browser (which can be maddening) and have the option of paying for fast service or settling for the free slow one.

What a fantastic little hotel! We stayed here with our 18-month old for 4 nights and absolutely loved it. The people are so helpful and friendly and the rooms are adorable. I've read other reviews complaining about the size of the rooms, but it's a densely populated, major metropolis for crying out loud! I guess if you've never been to the big city you might find it a little small, but we're from NYC and we felt right at home. Tons of amazing restaurants and shops within walking distance. We'll definitely be back!
