Caveat emptor, the only luxurious thing at this place is the price. If you a female living alone, I would not recommend living here. [No Rent Control]+[Unsafe]+[Hygiene Issues]+[Inadequate Management] -No rent control on federal territory, so expect ~15 -35% at every renewal. -False sense of safety: hostile concierge, vehicles broken into on the property's paid parking lots including front of the building and the underground garage, missing packages, occasional dog fights -Hygiene issues: dirty drinking/bathing water, smoking/vaping not controlled, dogs excrements and ammonia smell on the property, lobby noise especially during quiet hours -Unethical irresponsible management: revolving door of staff (lost 8 good employees) and residents in the last 1.5 years. There used to be a waiting list to live here, and now they can't fill it despite the move-in special. What's keeping me here is the location in the national park with proximity to running trails and bay swimming. I keep my pepper spray close when returning home because of an aggressively behaving concierge. (written by a current resident of 7.5yrs)

I have lived in many places, but I can honestly say this was the best apartment I ever had. Everyone on the management team was helpful and responsive. When living at an apartment, you're bound to run into some issue, but I can honestly say that every issue I had, management solved quickly. I lived here for two years and it was an absolute pleasure. Neighbors aren't noisy/ walls are thick, plus everyone is super friendly. Front desk staff are always so sweet and genuinely do care about you. This building is huge and yet they take the time to remember your name and ask how you are doing. I never had an issue with packages either. They keep that room superrr organized and if there ever was a misplaced package, it was found perhaps 30 minutes later after they did more digging. I once dropped my air pod under the front desk and the neighbors and front desk staff literally helped me look for it for like 15 minutes as we all chatted and laughed. I cannot recommend this place enough!

San Francisco has many unique and special places for locals to call home. Still, The Presidio Landmark stands out. This is not a cookie-cutter apt complex; This is a community where history, modern living, service and a true sense of "home" collide... and that's just from my tour. Visiting without a guide, I'd give a stellar review; but the experience visiting with a genuinely great concierge (I'm talking about YOU, Jason) made this visit almost something worth buying a ticket for ;) I wanted to spend the day lounging in the library and planning an event in the private dining room and event space (conveniently next to a resident wine cellar). Today I was a visitor... and I think that may change soon

UPDATE#2 I Iove this location but still dissatisfied with the management here. Although they are all smiles in the lobby when you pass by, when it comes to needing help they just don't seem to really care. Yes my rent went up a few hundred dollars this year and they are reducing amenities. I asked for them to maintain my old rent, and they declined saying they had no control, but several other residents had their rent fixed. So apparently rent raises are discretionary. I do not get the sense that they pride themselves with long stays -- and other residents have expressed the same sentiment. Most recently they eliminated the overnight safety desk employee. There is no one here from 11pm to 9am in case of emergency. When I suggested they put an emergency phone number to call at the front desk, the manger began deflecting about main phone number and got a defensive attitude with me-- it was so strange. They also eliminated coffee until 9am when most people are gone, and are frequently out of creamer. They also skipped the Christmas tree this year. Lastly-- although my lease says that pets are not permitted--- the lobby is frequently packed with dogs... and owners socializing. The elevators smell like dogs and doo doo. UPDATE#1 The upper management reconciled everything. Albeit several months later, but I was given the promised rates and all is well. In summary, it was a tedious fight, but they did the right thing in the end. I love living here, and even though it came with some challenges, it is worth it. PREVIOUS REVIEW The building and apartment are impressive. Unfortunately, the customer service is unacceptable. To date, I've been waiting more than two months to resolve an overcharge on my lease.  I was guaranteed one rate, and because of an error from the leasing department (completed by an untrained leasing agent), I'm paying an extra $200 per month. At one point, they even tried to raise my rent by 40% because of this employee's error. Luckily after a long battle, I was able to resolve that portion of the issue. Since then, I've called customer service a half dozen times to eliminate the extra $200 charge, and no one responds. I was also promised a quick resolution by the Regional manager three weeks ago, to no avail. When it comes to your money, "ghosting" and "buck-passing" are the modus operandi of management here at the Presidio Landmark & Brookfield Properties.  My recommendation is to be extra careful when signing your lease, make sure that your agent is licensed and trained, don't expect anyone to take responsibility for mistakes, and expect a significant rate increase when your lease expires. I have lost countless hours of personal time, money, and experienced enormous frustration trying to resolve this issue. Not to mention, having to deal with the awkward tension with the staff members who erred. If something changes I will update this review. In the meanwhile -- BE CAUTIOUS! P.S. the rentals at the Presidio Landmark are exempt from the Tenant Protection Act of 2019, aka AB 1482, which ensures no more than a 5% increase in annual rental rates. Unfortunately, it appears that Brookfield Properties is exploiting the exemption to maximize their profitability.

I had a very positive experience with this company today. From the initial email contact until my departure from the building after my appointment, everyone was extremely professional. Jason gave me a wonderful tour of the facility, explaining all the options and the details associated with each. My sincere thanks go out to all of you for making this stressful process as easy as possible. Having driven across the country for seven days, I am eager to move into my new apartment soon!

I had a great experience with my walk-through with Jason. He was knowledgeable about the property - from the different floor plans, square footage and the amenities the property had to offer. I never felt rushed and he was able to answer all my questions and accommodate/ show all the different options I had in mind, giving me a chance to view all my possibilities. His transparency and professionalism made for a fantastic experience.

I remember when this was the abandoned hospital. Just being outside of it at night in my car gave me chills I will never forget! They did a great job converting. Extremely impressive. BUT. Those memorable chills alone will unfortunately prevent me from ever living here, let alone the high rents. And yes, ironically when it what just an abandoned hospital our homeless problem wasn't as as it is today. Unfortunately proving that these impose on price tag are the direct cause

One of the most historic buildings set in a truly gorgeous area of San Francisco, it's a beautiful building from the exterior. If you enter via the 14th Avenue gate with a vehicle and exit via 15th Avenue gate you'll only see part of the building's facade. It's best to do a hike through the Presidio and start/end here to get the full sense of the building's size. But don't bother trying to go inside if you don't know any residents as they won't be friendly.

My wife and I moved into the building in February 2020, a few days before the COVID-19 pandemic was officially announced. It has obviously been a difficult time for everyone, but the building has proven that it has been managed with competent staff throughout this period. We both enjoy living in the building and the many amenities that it offers under normal circumstances. In particular, prior to moving into the building we were impressed with the tradition of “bagel Saturdays” as well as coffee in the mornings, and occasional parties for tenants in the “social” room in the basement level. All of these amenities served to create a sense of camaraderie among the tenants and made living in the building so enjoyable. Again, this was during normal times, and unfortunately shortly after we moved in, the service needed to be suspended because of social distancing requirements. Throughout this difficult period, the staff continued to show their dedication and professionalism in maintaining the building and grounds in top condition. Our only criticism of the building is the degree to which staff personnel have rotated out of service. We have particularly enjoyed the staff that has been employed by the building over the past few months. They have been friendly, courteous and highly competent and we are sorry to see them go. Such a wonderful place to live. I love this apartment building so much and I am very grateful to call this place home ❤️ The team is awesome, apartments are modern and spacious, needless to say that the location is one of the best you can get in San Francisco!

I toured Presidio Landmark on Nov 5, 2023, with Jason. Jason was very welcoming and provided a lot of useful information. For example, he mentioned whether the trees outside the room windows are deciduous or not, which gives a better idea of the lighting situation in the rooms throughout the year. The location is amazing, and the premises are quiet and peaceful. It's easy to forget that you're in the middle of San Francisco, as the property feels more like a resort, especially considering the access to all the amenities that Presidio offers. I haven't made a final decision about renting the room here, but I must admit that I am strongly leaning towards doing so!

My tour with Jason was thorough and enjoyable... So much so in fact that I signed a lease agreement before leaving. I cannot wait to move-in and make the Presidio home.

Jason gave an excellent tour! He took his time to carefully show off the entire building as well as all of the units requested, was incredibly patient throughout, and diligently provided thoughtful and honest answers to all of my questions.

Jason gave us a great tour, the unit we were interested in wasnt available for touring but we were able to see multiple units to piece together what it would be like. We got a very good understanding of the good and the not so good aspects of living here and were able to make an informed decision.

Living at the Presidio Landmark is like living in heaven... The view from my apartment is a sunken bamboo garden, there are miles of hiking trails out the back door of the building, the beach is only a 15 minute stroll away, the world-class Clement Street Farmers' Market is within 20 minutes' walk, all appliances are new with in-house maintenance and the staff is personal, friendly, and easily accessible. Honestly, it can't be beat.
