The Ghiradeli dessert shop was a SWEET ending to a perfect day at the Pier. It did not disappoint. Fun street performers out front. Great atmosphere. The only thing that kept it from being 5 stars was the outrageous prices. $16.50 for a brownie and two scoops of ice cream. It was decadent and delicious though. 😋 **If you liked this review or thought it was helpful, give it a thumbs up. 👍thanks!

If you're a first time visitor to SF or you're a local looking for an iconic Bay Area souvenir, you're probably gonna end up here. The square itself is quite pleasant to look at, what with the giant Ghirardelli sign overlooking the square. There's a good variety of shops for souvenirs, lunch, a quick round at at the arcade, etc. Parking is surprisingly not too bad right now. There's the garage, but there's also street parking all around the square. Overall, an easy way to kill 1.5 - 2 hours of time while you're in SF.

Always a must while visiting San Francisco. I love their hot fudge. Also wasn’t aware that the have THREE locations right in the same square. The original sit down location where they have their chocolate exhibit, a quick to go service location just a few doors down and a small order counter downstairs on the main floor overlooking the park and beach! It felt less busy so we were happy to come multiple times to enjoy their sundaes! One of the times we ordered at the quick service and took our sundaes to go and enjoyed them on the beach while we watched the sunset.

It’s hard to miss this bay side landmark as you stroll along the beaches of Aquatic Cove. The gentle hill up to Ghirardelli Square will prepare you for the chocolate treat(s) you deserve as you spend a few hours in the chocolate factory transformed to a popular shopping and dining destination. There are several food options at the Square but it will be travesty if you skip dessert like milkshake, hot chocolate, brownies, cookies or hot fudge from one of three Ghirardelli stores; the Original Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop, Ghirardelli Chocolate Experience, and the Ghirardelli On-The-Go. Check off your list and try Ghirardelli’s World-Famous Hot Fudge Sundae. Grab a free Ghirardelli Square and take in a breath-taking view of the bay. And don’t forget to buy a gift for someone or a to-go chocolatey snack (because it will melt while you enjoy the rest of the bay area).

A great experience! Located walking distance from Fisherman's Wharf. Awesome location surrounded by shopping, restaurants, great stores for children & free fun outdoor children's activities while you dine or rest! Large variety of chocolates upon entry. We were greeted at the door. There is also an ice cream station that you don't want to miss! We got our "free sample" at the back of the store. Delicious!

Great place to pick up a dessert and/or gift. This shop sells many kinds of sweet things, both hot or cold. The prices aren't actually that bad, especially for a tourist spot. There's usually a line, but if you really want to get inside, it's worth the wait. Ordering is quick if you know what you want. Past the registers, there are chocolate-making machines in operation with signs telling you what they're doing. The staff wear nice uniforms and are very helpful, if you need help. There's seating indoors, but you can also take your order to go. If you'd like to purchase a gift, they sell different sizes of containers for you to fill with chocolate, teddy bears, and gift cards. Being wary of spending too much, I got a small "Classic Hot Cocoa" which was about $5. It was very rich and decadent and piping hot. If you order a one, you should wait for a few minutes so it cools down, or you'll burn your tongue like I did. Overall, I recommend checking this place out at least once.

Ghirardelli Chocolate is a super fun place for chocolate lovers! You get to choose your favorite chocolates from a bunch of options, and they even have a special area just for ice cream and shakes. The chocolate machine inside is really cool, and the cafeteria looks like San Francisco's famous cable cars, which is neat. With so many choices and a cool vibe, Ghirardelli is a must-visit for anyone who loves sweets. It's like a sweet adventure with lots of yummy treats!

For chocolate lovers... Fantastic. Every Ghirardelli chocolate product in one place, with ice cream and brownies. Brick buildings, a cool sight to see. Fudge tasting.I had the Hot Chocolate, great. Straight forward bold taste, not too sweet. There is also shopping and a arcade. You can take your order directly across the street and sit in front of the bay. Beautiful area.

The best ice cream sundaes I’ve ever had. I’ve been here a zillion times and finally decided to write a review. I’ve tried their world famous sundae, salted caramel sundae, brownie sundae, strawberry sundae and couple of shakes like the double chocolate and their mocha. Everything was amazing. I’ll keep going back to this spot. Apart from their ice creams and chocolates the location is amazing too. You get to see how their chocolates are made. The customer service is pretty good as well.

An amazing place for Sundaes and Chocolates!! Kids were thrilled. The Lands End - Salted Caramel Brownie Sundae was especially yummy. We went on a weekend and it was quite crowded but the service was quick. Tables weren’t cleaned well. Nice place to revisit although would’ve liked to see/read some history of how the store started and maybe how chocolate is made etc. Would’ve made the place even more interesting and informative for kids.

We visited this place on a weekday and it was less crowded. Our ID and vaccination card was verified for dine in. This is the first time I could enjoy the ambience, sundae and company of my friends at Ghirardelli without any noise, crowd. It was very peaceful. Sundae was delicious as always😋 😍

It is located at the north point street, you can see beach right across, to reach there if you take the Powell tram you have to get off the last stop (fisherman’s wharf) there are two entrance, one will take u directly to the Ghirardelli store and other entrance you will pass by the fountain and other restaurants, when you enter it feels like you are in a small cute town with lights and such a great vibe it gives. There are few shopping centers and also different cuisines to try around. Its a cute small space full of chocolates and food. Unforgettable experience ❤️

It is an experience by itself. We had to wait in a line before getting in and once again for seats after getting in. The ice cream sundaes were great though especially their world famous fudge. Since it serves only desserts there was a big crowd even though it was after lunch time. Good crowd in the Ghirardelli square too of people buying souvenirs or just lounging around taking photos etc.

Fantastic place for a dessert after a nice walk around the area, along the beach. There are plenty of shops in this square too! We had the World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae, really good, not too sweet, and everything was done just right. Highly recommended when you are in town.

Holy Chocolate 🍫 😋. This was an amazing experience!!! We each got sundaes 🍨 and we didn't realize that they were going to be so huge!!! They were incredible 👏 . The Chocolate experience was great as well. The entire square was neat and family friendly. I'm so glad that we walked there from the Wharf.

Must visit place if you like Ghirardelli and chocolate. They Sunday fudge is classic and seems pretty good. They sell fudge at all places so you can skip a long queue at the main store. Coffee etc is pretty good as well. Environment at the square is vibrant. We got the parking at the square also. Was tight and corners are sharp.

If you are a first time visitor, I would recommend trying the World Famous sundae. Their brownies are great and highly recommended. There is a parking garage that charges 8$ for the first hour (which is usually sufficient to visit the store, enjoy the ice cream and do some shopping). There are 3 stores but I would recommend going to the main one for your purchases.

Visiting the Ghirardelli Chocolate Experience in San Francisco was an absolute delight, especially for a history and chocolate enthusiast like myself. Despite the 45-minute wait to get in, the experience was undoubtedly worth it. While waiting, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the rich history of Ghirardelli, learning about the origins and the meticulous process of making their renowned chocolates and treats. The place is a haven for those who adore Sundaes and Chocolates. My visit happened to be on a weekend, which meant the place was bustling with activity. Despite the crowd, the service was impressively quick, a testament to the efficiency and dedication of the staff. However, due to the high volume of visitors, I noticed that the tables weren’t cleaned as promptly or thoroughly as one might expect. Additionally, finding a place to sit was a bit of a challenge, given the popularity of the venue. These aspects, while minor, did somewhat affect the overall comfort of the experience. What stood out most to me was the charming gesture of offering free chocolate samples to each customer, regardless of whether they made a purchase. This act of generosity not only added to the welcoming atmosphere but also allowed visitors to taste the quality of Ghirardelli's products firsthand.

You can’t check San Francisco off the list without visiting Ghirardelli! Ghirardelli Square is a delightful haven for chocolate enthusiasts. The historic ambiance, coupled with the irresistible aroma of freshly made treats, creates an inviting atmosphere. The array of delectable chocolates and the charming surroundings make it a sweet destination worth savoring. Highly recommended!

Clean and shaded area to hang out. Cute shops with expensive but trendy gifts. Ice cream sundaes are a good price hit single scoop or milkshakes are $9-10 and not worth the price. Mini golf was fun. Bathrooms are nice. Arcade had fun games but pricey.

This is a “must visit” when we take our out of town friends on a tour of SF. Nothing comes anywhere close to their sundaes. Due to the crowd on weekends and holidays the wait to place the order can easily take 45 minutes. Did to limited seating and the crowd waiting to take the first available table it gets too crowded inside.

Super cool place to visit and you immediately fall into a chocolate cloud of love. I do know this is a tourist location for sure, however I can get the small bags of chocolate squares at my local grocery stores for about 25% less than what they sell right at this factory outlet. Seems a bit backwards.

3.5 rounded up to 4. The best thing to me about this pace is that they are open till 11PM on Friday/Saturdays. I came here after dinner on a Friday night about 10PM. What I really came here for was the Decadent Drinking Chocolate. I was always a fan of the Trader Joe's Drinking Chocolate and fell in love with the real stuff when I was in Italy last year. So I always get it whenever I have a chance. I have never had a Ghirardelli Hot Fudge Sundae before but knew it would be too much along with the drinking Chocolate but I couldn't pass up a scoop of chocolate ice cream since I had never had Ghirardelli's ice cream before. Decadent Drinking Chocolate 3.5/5 It wasn't bad but I have had better here in the States. I guess I expected more from a chocolate shop. Chocolate Ice Cream 3/5 Now I was disappointed in the ice cream. I’m not saying it was bad, but it was just average chocolate ice cream and for the price I paid I think I would have been better off getting a 1/2 gallon from the grocery store, and not even the good stuff. I really expect more of a chocolatey flavor. The visit wasn’t a total loss because I did get some drinking chocolate and that’s hard to come by.

The ice cream here is always incredible. If you can't eat the sundae because it's too rich, their ice creams are really tasty. Alternatively, you can try their hot chocolate which never disappoints. I would recommend eating inside for the experience.

As Bay Area locals, we've frequented this place and always bring along visitors. A must-visit in San Francisco, Ghirardelli offers a diverse range of chocolate collections available for purchase by weight after delightful tastings. The ice cream and shake options are exceptional, allowing you to craft your own shakes with the available chocolates. On our recent visit, we took the world-famous hot fudge sundae and a make-your-own shake, and both were outstanding. Even if you're not a first-timer, the Ghirardelli experience is not to be missed - it's truly worth it.

We enjoyed eating at McCormick & Kuletos. It's located on the second floor or ground floor from the elevator and down some stairs. Great food and great location. Ghirardelli is perfectly located. It sits right off from the Powell-Hyde cable turnaround and ticket office. Enjoy the wonderful views of the bay, clipper ship and Golden Gate bridge. Have fun exploring this SF square!

We loved it here. We bought some chocolates for gifts and sat down to enjoy some milkshakes. There are some prepackaged chocolates but you can mix your own, in a clear bag with a cute tie, and you just pay by weight. Beautiful and charming space, with a great view of the beach across the street. Service is fast.

If you like chocolate, you will love this place. Nice outdoor setting with fountains decorated for the season. We went in October hence the pumpkins. Plenty of shops, eateries and outdoor seating. General public restrooms were clean but lacking a proper ventilation system. We were unsure where to go at first, but if you walk up the side street there’s an entrance into the actual square. From the street level that is down from Fisherman’s wharf, you would miss most of the experience. See pic attached, walk straight up that hill. Entrance on your right. Sundaes were good. Expensive but big portions. Definitely shareable.

We wanted to get some Ghirardelli while in San Francisco and it did not disappoint! We got two Ocean Beach sundaes with sea salt caramel and wow. That was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had in my life. The chocolatey waffle cone, caramel, the little chocolate bar in the cone, and of course the ice cream were all so rich with flavor and delicious! Definitely recommend!

  • 5/5 Russ C. 2 years ago on Google
There are some very quaint shops here and soon there will be four different ghirardelli stores. Their sundaes are to die for. The next day I came back to the brewery inside the square to watch the super bowl. It was well worth it. Lots of great food and beer

This never gets old. Have taken several friends and families here or just plainly came to hang here in the past. Iconic chocolate place is the anchor and what a testament to San Francisco’s sweet side. The view is one for the books. Can walk up to the crooked street if you inclined or stroll down to fisherman’s wharf, take a photo by the cable car stop or just simply take in the bay views.

  • 4/5 Patrick D. 2 years ago on Google
Nice area to relax, dine and shop. With only steps away from Fisherman’s Wharf, this could easily one of the places you’d see when around the area. It’s very inviting especially in the fountain area where there’s ample seating and don’t forget to swing by the Ghirardelli Ice Cream/Chocolate Shop!

  • 4/5 Miriam W. 2 years ago on Google
A nice marketplace with a few different shops, mostly focused around the Ghirardelli brand. We got some good ice cream sundaes from the main store, and then did a little bit of window shopping. It was good but I think it is a bit over-hyped. I've had better chocolate elsewhere.

  • 5/5 Siddhant K. 2 years ago on Google
Just Lucious. Had the chocolate fudge sundae and it was delicious. This is place to awesome to roam around and also buy some chocolates if you want. The prices for the desert are a bit high, however your craving for dessert will definitely be fulfilled!!!

  • 5/5 Adrien S. 2 years ago on Google
Do yourself a favor and stop in here for a tasty ice cream treat! Seriously the best ice cream and chocolate you will find! Even when it’s super busy you will find a table in about 15 mins. Plus the staff is very nice. We always come here when visiting and will retiring for years to come.

  • 4/5 Butters 2 years ago on Google
The price is a ripoff, but that is the Ghirardelli brand for you. The COVID hysteria is stupid. If you are so scared that you must see vaccine papers and be masked to see people, you shouldn’t be in public. It isn’t like we keep it on while sitting at a table anyway. The chocolate is great, of course. The coffee could be better. I was disappointed to see an automatic machine make the coffee. A real missed opportunity there. 50% off the Christmas stuff that didn’t sell, so if you want a deal, nows the time.

  • 5/5 Francisco Mora R. 2 years ago on Google
This place is mesmerizing. It has all you need to have a fancy evening. Enjoy the views, the shops and the cultural exchange. This is one of the most visited places in SF. Enjoy and bring chocolate souvenirs back home.
