This is one of the last true dive bars in the Tenderloin. With all the character one would expect to find. From the occasional street peep wandering in peddling their goods, to a homeless derelict looking for some understanding and all the characters you would expect in between who find comfort in such ambiance. Cheap enough drinks with a good punch and about a dozen harmless regulars. The AMI On-line jukebox is all you will need to provide the soundtrack for your afternoon or evening.

Love these reviews complaining that the Bartender cusses and jokes alot, like yeah, its a bar. Its a classic tenderloin dive bar and an important part of the culture. If it's not for you it's not for you but it's doing exactly what it's supposed to be and doing it well. Love this bar.

The most attractive barmaid...... Friendly staff, friendly customers, probably considered a dive bar by many people but so what .. good selection of beers and cocktails, we couldn't stay long but so glad we popped in

Stumbled upon this bar after a different place canceled on us, and could not have been happier. Spent 2 hours talking to the owner and bartender, both so sweet and hilarious. Such a good time, if I'm ever back in SF, I'm definitely going back here. Skip the fancy places, go here.

Run down as hell, but, not in a dirty way, just old. Nice bar tender, met some old queens there had some good dancing music on the jukebox and danced the night away.

I think it's a great neighborhood bar of course you have your characters from the neighborhood outside of the bar but I feel that once you get inside the bar you have a great time the jukebox is great the drinks are great I think

The Best thing about Jo-Ann's bar. Okay very very good classic and the best horseshoe-shaped bar. The owner Joanne is been known me since I was 20 years old. Number one for mixing the best classic drinks in that area. Strongly recommended!!πŸ₯ƒπŸΉπŸΈβœŒπŸ‘Œ.

One of the last "dive" bars in the city. And i say that with affection. A good drink. At a good price. Always pet friendly. And never a dull moment out front. An oasis from the outside neighborhood. Bar tenders very friendly and very knowledgeable. I recommend even though of the location.

You want a genuine dive bar? then this place is to be. It doesn't get more authentic than Jonells. One of the best parts.. in the heart of TL (perhaps the least favorable place for tourist to venture haha) & you can't beat the prices. I absolutely love it!

The owner and the bartenders are an absolute blast. Such authentic genuine fun people - just holding things down. Give this place a try if you’re walking by.
