3 stars due to the following: - beautiful atmosphere - fantastic wine selection - lovely service But - unreasonably small portions for even more unreasonable prices. They charge like they’ve got *multiple* stars and it’s just not worth it. I recommend going for wine and maybe a snack. The wine selection is why we went and it did not disappoint - for that I will go back, and bring friends too! Just not for dinner

We went in wanting to love the place but came away quite disappointed. We ordered most items on the menu and almost all were bland and lacking in flavor. Nothing too exciting going on at all. I can appreciate small plating, though $18 for two bites of bland fish is a bit too steep Considering other options in the city, I don't see any valid reason to come here unless you've done it all. For the $160/person we paid, we expected more out of the food considering that's on par with michelin pricing. And at that price you might as well go to a michelin. I feel bad leaving a poor review - just very disappointed we picked our night to splurge here instead of elsewhere

Wow. Stunning in all the ways. Super 80s minimalist vibe / decor - check out the boom box in the restroom- and wonderfully attentive staff were wearing linens in different hues of gray. My only complaint was that the music (also 80s curated) was a tiny bit too loud. I captioned the food pictures, but each dish was spectacular. The smoked vinegar in the opah was very delicate, and as one makes their way down to the bottom of the crudo list, the flavors get bolder. Tuna with horseradish by the end was not so subtle, yet again exquisite. The celeraic brûlée may have been my favorite dish, and the mushrooms were perfection. In comparison to all the other flavors, the chicken breast was on the meh side. But we finished up by sampling all of the desserts, which was a great call. Will return!

The name says it all: Fantastique! The space is beautifully designed and has a great date atmosphere. Food: The plates are indeed pretty small but the quality of the ingredients really shines and is the star of the show across the plates. For example, The red prawns (only 2) were absolutely delicous. Simple but you can really taste the sweetness of the prawns. As for the whole Raw section, you can order everything. The lobster Thermidor is definitely a must. Beautifully poached lobster in aerated butter combined with the much needed bread. Also try The Celeriac which is perfectly executed. For dessert the Cara Cara was the perfect ending with it's pecan flavors balanced with by the nice mandarin acidity. Should just have a tasting menu since you almost end up ordering almost everything. Definitely fine dining, will spend over $100 per person. Service was great and their wine selection is actually well constructed with a variety of options for different budgets.

Quite a bit to unpack, but in a good way. The space is really nice and airy, with a great atmosphere at night. Music selection is absolutely A+, especially once you realize how big the vinyl collection is. Wine list is pretty extensive but very thoughtful and not insanely packed. Cured fish offerings are very interesting albeit not cheap, but on par with good sashimi prices, with more flavors. Bread, butter, steak, cooked veggies are also very interesting. All to a point we didn't regret ordering anything we ordered. Desserts are also very creative. And on top of that the wait staff is really nice for SF. Now, since we ate most of the menu in one sitting, I hope it rotates somewhat often so we can come back.

Service and food were fantastique! Each of the raw menu was unique and hit different flavor notes but the shima aji and trout were exceptional. Warm dishes and wine recommendations were great as well. I wouldn’t recommend if you are price conscious or extra hungry.

I don't want to say much about this place because it is almost like a spoiler alert. Just go there and experience the full dining experience. And order the chicken breast! Other than that, let your heart decide what you want to try. The service is top notched and the atmosphere is cool. I recommend setting in the lounge for a more private experience. Yes this place is expensive but I am willing to come here again and bring friends :)

Really enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant. Service was informative, but not overbearing. Dishes were on the small side, but still filling. You could tell each dish was meticulously prepared.

The food was delicious and the service was fantastic, all for a fair price! The milk bread with pepper yuzu butter was one of our favorites, alongside the hirame and shima aji sashimi. Had the green room lounge to ourselves too - great place to sip some wine. Will be back to try more of the menu!

Gorgeous dinner. The tasting menu was incredible and I think a reasonable price for what it is. I’ve seen other reviewers comment on small portions but I was full by the end so I was happy. Service was excellent. I think they really love the food and wine and are proud of it and should be.

Le Fantastique was the best restaurant I've been to in a very long time! The food is so incredible, unique, and beautifully presented. I've never had such delicious sashimi, ever! They fly it in from Tokyo! Plus the bread is out of this world. It has such a great vibe too. I'll definitely come back!

I make it up to the Bay for work every now and then, and had seen Le Fantastique on Esquire's Best New Restaurant list, as well as Eater and SF's Michelin Guide, so had to try it out. Let me tell ya... it lived up to the HYPE. I'm a serial diner, but I want my nights out with my partner/friends to count... this hit all the marks. Truly remarkable food with insane technique (I see you, Chef Robbie!), but in a relaxed environment with good music and spectacular wine. Dining in SF (especially the city proper) has really been hit or miss for me the past few years, but Le Fantastique is 10/10. Cannot wait to head up there soon for another visit.

Great food. Servings are just the right size to try a good part of the menu without being too full. Can’t think of anything we had that would not be great, definitely would love to come back and try the rest of the menu. Special kudos to the staff. Incredibly friendly, helpful and have a special awesomeness factor, which is hard to explain but makes you feel like you could easily be friends outside the restaurant. Overall strongly recommend.

Super fun dining experience (shoutout to our whimsical waiter Lauren) and in a quiet ambiance. Menu was light in flavors with a great selection of various crudos. The sea bream and scallops were our favorites, super tender and clean when paired with sauces. The Hokkaido milk bread was fluffy and served warm with a savory lobster butter. Ebi was average, panko crusted and not juicy, protein was a bit overcooked. The portions are quite small and definitely on the pricier side, but for sharing a few small bites with good company in a semi formal environment is perfect.

I had an amazing time at Le Fantastique this evening! The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and fun, and the service was incredible! I highly recommend trying the chef’s menu- my friend and I left incredibly full and happy. Highly recommend checking this place out!

I would definitely hope to return again. Ambience, 3/10. I would have give jt higher if it were not for the loud music at the bar. Food,5/10. All ingredients were nice. The sashimi were well seasoned but the flavours too heavy. The maitake mushroom was too large in portion for one; it could get a bit monotone. (Nice for sharing) itd be nice if there were choices for small portions. The rum buba desert was amazing, though it doesnt look as appealing one would hope for. Lastly, I enjoyed the wine menu.
