However, we were placed in the far back end of the garden with a dark veranda surrounded by a sewer covered by bushes. The sewer caused a very unpleasant smell whilst huge rats were crawling through the bushes at only one meter from our table. The waiter funnily claimed the rats were only parrots, but despite the joke it was a far from ideal setting to have dinner. The Ossobuco was prepared using stock cubes for the gravy. The Cotoletta was dry and merely tasted like butter instead of veal. The Tagliatelle with Porcini mushrooms were overcooked and covered in a dense, cement-like Porcini sauce which lacked the fresh Porcini flavour. I have no clue how it is possible that this joint with over 2.500 reviews is rated with 4.5 out of 5 stars. Maybe the chef just had a complete off-day, but with plenty of reliable alternatives available in Milan I don't see any reason to give this place a second chance.
