Overall I found most of the dishes out of balance. For example, the tuna, while beautifully cut, lacked seasoning. The eel risotto was too acidic. And then there is personal taste: the duck was perfectly good but not on my alley, the dry aged code was not the right structure-looked on one side overcooked and one side undercooked. I loved the lamb amuse, the blue crab, the dessert and the aged Parmigiano in the cheese platter was amazing! I truly truly disliked the licorice and black garlic dish (personal taste, but my friend I was with, a lover of licorice, disliked it as profoundly). We had also the special wine pairing and the wines were a letdown, except for the dessert one. The service was also not what you would expect from a Michelin rated place. Although the sommelier was great! Overall disappointed, especially considering the price tag, it seemed an off night for them. Sadly the first time I did not enjoy food in Italy.

One of our best tasting menus ever. Chef Salvatore uses excellent local ingredients to take you on a food journey inspired by his trips throughout the world. The presentation of the food is outstanding. Worth asking sommelier Emanuel for a wine recommendation if you’re not going for the wine pairing option, they have a very notable wine selection. The restaurant has very relaxed vibes and the entire team is very friendly, warm and welcoming. One not to miss when you are in Venice.

Easily one of our favorite Michelin restaurants in Italy. All of the dishes were well thought out, and they came with little reading cards. The musso with porcini mushroom was a nice surprise. We haven't had any a- donkey before. We also opted for their supplemental cheese tasting since we LOVE cheese. While we were talking, they ran up to us and put a spoon in our mouth. Whatever it was, it was very delicious. We joked about how people are just letting others put spoons of unknown substances in their mouth without consent. Anyway, this restaurant is definitely a must try Michelin star in Venice. We saw a 10% discretionary service charge tacked on at the end. We're familiar with the coperto, or cover, charge and the water charge; however, the service charge was definitely an one off for us. We haven't had any service charge at any other restaurants in Italy (both regular and Michelin stars). Taking off a star for that.

Fabulous tasting menu -- the real deal by a chef who knows what he's doing. Every course was tasty and incorporated interesting ideas without the concept overshadowing the actual flavors of the excellent ingredients. The wine pairings were well chosen and varied. Fantastic bread. The atmosphere was lovely except for the one big window overlooking the bright neon lights of the pharmacy across the calle. Not sure what could be done about that. Service was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Good English. Expensive and worth it.

The best meal from our Venice trip! 🇮🇹😋 extraordinary experience, the drinks were great (even the alcohol free ones), the dishes were divine and staffs were professional 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 we particularly enjoyed the schie, aubergine tomato dishes and chocolate peach dishes. definitely a highly recommended restaurant.

This was from summer 2022 and Local is still one of the best one star Michelin I’ve been to in the world! Lunch here is highly recommended! Incredible service, amazing cookery and reasonable price. One of the most memorable part was when the servers rushed over with two spoons of limoncello ice cream without speaking a word, and just waited silently for us to open our mouths, and shoved the ice cream into our mouths, and then dashed off. Although it was a little odd, but it was actually really fun and different. Solid 9.5/10 The Dry aged fish had an intense flavor.

Came by for 7-course dinner, two cocktails, and two glasses of wine. Price came to 290 euros. Not great but the Michelin star lets them pump up their pricing and keep guests coming. The tasting menu had some highlights: ceviche, the chicken liver cicchetti, and the deconstructed tiramisu. That said, and this truly and unfortunately is not an exaggeration, the local catch and white asparagus dish was the worst-tasting dish I have ever tasted in any food establishment in my life. My wife and I have very different taste preferences but both independently had to fight the urge to vomit. Whether it was bad fish, or the gimmicky “lactic acid” twist on the asparagus had gone wrong, the dish was completely off and ruined an otherwise acceptable dinner.

We had an excellent 4 course lunch here though at 70 euros per person, I left still feeling a bit hungry. Note, you're getting more gastronomic Italian than traditional Italian food here.

Very good fish and vegetable based tasting menu. Not too sweet. Sufficient food not to leave hungry. And actually very good value for money, even if expensive. The visit was a highlight not just compared to all the bad food venues in Venice. I recommend the 9 courses. It is a joke that the restaurant does not have a Michelin star. Other chefs can also learn a lot about composing a menu from this chef. Great idea with the cards and the bread served in the middle. Only thing I would do differently is baking a lighter bread.

Amazing experience. Super welcoming staff, incredible service. The tasting menus tell a story of Chef Salvatore's culinary journey and every dish was great in its own way. Half the time I was just involuntarily grinning when trying the different dishes. Some favourites were: - Chichetti with chicken liver emulsion inside, and "breads" made from chicken skin. Umami explosion! - Ceviche from the lagoon with an amazing "leche de tigre" - Risotto with grains so creamy that no risotto will ever compare. - Sous vide lamb with eel that was unbelievably tender. You absolutely have to check this place out. I'm sure it won't be long before they get even more Michelin stars and other accolades; they definitely deserve them.

were sourced locally and executed perfectly, preserving the flavor using dry-age and sous vide techniques, balancing seafood saltiness with tartness from seasonal pumpkin and strawberries. Even though I was dining alone, the staff were so friendly and helped me feel at ease. They also paced the courses so there wasn’t a long break between course. The restaurant design was well thought out , infusing the logo of the restaurant into the Venetian marble floor poured on-site, into the paper seal, and to the glassware decorations throughout the restaurant. Overall exceeds all of my expectations.

Very disappointing experience overall. We wish we have more attention to reviews with the lowest score as they were definitely more accurate of the situation. Short story it is an overpriced, underwhelming and borderline unprofessional experience. The food is surprisingly mediocre with some dishes being actually unpleasant. All meats were chewy and hard, few plates under seasoned, most of the dishes gave bitter aftertaste and acidity were no where to be found. Even the “plate” with bread and olive oil was not executed to perfection. Olive oil was mediocre and no salt as extra to balance the unseasoned bread. Dessert with curry probably one of the most unpleasant combinations and the predessert that force into your mouth awkward and completely unnecessary. Chef and menu feel confused and far beyond to Michelin star quality. The atmosphere is cold, no music and the ambiance of the staff trying to be cool but just looks unprofessional. Would not recommend and will be surprised if they keep the Michelin star with this menu.

Absolutely adored this place. They really made it an approachable tasting menu experience that wasn't stuffy at all. We were debating on whether to do the 7-course or 9-course experience, and we were so glad we did the 9. The two dishes that we were most impressed with were included in the 9, so treat yourself to it! The staff was also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They came with a little surprise halfway through the meal that I won't spoil for you. Another unique aspect of the tasting is that each dish came with its own little card to elaborate on the inspiration of the dish or the star ingredient. I loved this, because I feel like often times we aren't able to process and remember all the information that the waiters give you when they serve each dish to you.

A truly wonderful dining experience! You must choose between a 7 or 9 course menu, with the option of paired wines. The food is a modern take on traditional Venetian flavors/cuisine. What I appreciate the most is that the food still reflects the simplicity of flavors of the ingredients, despite being creative and sometimes unusual (in the best way!). The owners and sommelier are lovely people, and treat you like you are guests in their home. I look forward to hearing about their first Michelin star!!! Can’t wait to return…

One of the best food experiences I've had. 7+ course Surprise meal with wine pairings and it was a surprise in all the best ways possible. Staff was friendly and extremely attentive. Starting with some super HOT towels for your hands. Had a glass of Prosecco that was served in these beautiful stemless flutes.

    - Food: creative, but if you’re like me and don't particularly seek out fermented food, you might find a few dishes too strong to enjoy. - Portion: 9 courses were a lot of food for me, I wished I had the discipline to only eat half of the bread, pasta, and risotto dishes. - Service: great, they gave out cards with short descriptions for each dish. - Experience: it was one of the most memorable dining experiences, not because of the food, but how one dessert course was served.

Authentic Venitian food, we took the lunch menu and it was great from starters to desserts. They choose strong aliments and innovate how to prepare and serve them (the tataki of donkey with murex and truffles was my favorite)

The food is a new concept of Naples cuisine. We had the 9 course menu which was absolutely amazing, mostly seafood dishes. The wine pairing was astonishing even if I am not a great wine coneseur. It was just perfect. Nice and friendly staff that carefully attended our needs. Definitely a must go to when visiting Venice

We loved our experience at Local. We visited for my husbands 60th birthday and we did the 9 course starting menu with the wine pairing. The pairing was spot on!! And each course was incredible especially the rising pasta! A lot of interaction with the chef with was pretty cool.

What a fantastic find! The service, food and location are exceptional. The attentive care of Local’s team made us feel truly welcome and looked after. We picked the 9 course menu and it blew our minds. Local ingredients with a modern twist made each course an unforgettable experience. For the quality of food and service, it is also excellent value for money!

Had dinner at this spectacular restaurant in Castello while on vacation. There were options for pre-fixe and a la carte. We opted for a la carte, and two dishes was plenty for a late dinner. Additionally, the restaurant serves some amuse bouche, palette cleanser, and dessert complimentary. The service and food here was equal to that of Michelin starred restaurants. The service was welcoming without being stifling, and educational without being condescending. Each of the servers was a delight to interact with for the evening. Each dish we tried had some kind of flavor that was a surprise. The whole meal was a delight — I recommend this restaurant for anyone in Venice looking for a special experience. Lastly, there were diners in suits and dresses and jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers. Be yourself and comfortable!

An amazing food experience with a Venetian take on delicious dishes. Our favorite dish was the Risone with Gò fish. Would really recommend the blue cheese from their platter aswell. I love how the Chef stands in the pass and the open kitchen they have.

Local was such a fabulous experience during our time in Venice. We made our reservation about 3 days in advance and our total time at the restaurant was 3 hours. It was pretty easy to find with the maps app on our phone. The staff is probably one of the highlights for me. They were so attentive and intentional that we were never left wanting anything. They new the moment we needed something or finished our meal and our water glasses never dipped below half. We choose the 9 course meal and got the full Venice experience from the chef. As someone that has lived in Japan, I loved the little throwbacks to it, with shiso, or black garlic or matcha, there were tiny moments of food fusion. The little cards were so lovely in helping tell the story of the chef. We loved the food. Sure. There were moments of things that we had never experienced, but that’s why a tasting menu is fun. Overall, the dishes were fabulous and expanded our horizons. I think my favorite was the sashimi and blue crab. My husbands favorite was the duck. We left feeling full and happy after such a lovely experience.

So obviously a 5 star experience. Benedetta and Manuel, thank you for treating us like family! Food was amazing, the service was impeccable, the space (and the plates/glasses) were beautiful. Not to mention AC on a hot Venice day was a welcome change. Cheers and Grazie!!!

Such an interesting experience. We had the 7 course tasting menu. The chef is from around this area and he combined the local dishes but revisited with a modern twist. Plus his addition of Japanese culture. It is local but also your taste buds will travel. Incredibile selection of wine. Yummy local cheese. Very clean interior minimalist but cozy. The plating is clean and flavours are intense. Get ready to explore!!!

Definitely worth the Michelin star and hefty price. We had the 7 course meal, and each dish was elegantly presented with distinct tastes and the dishes are classic yet modern. The end even has sweet surprises! If you are in Venice for a short stay, go here, especially if you don‘t want to dine at a tourist trap but have a fortune to spend.

  • 5/5 David N. 4 years ago on Google
The food and service was second to none. This is fine dining. Multiple small dishes even though we didn’t try the degustation menu. Mainly fish based. They even managed to make eel tasty! Lost count of the number of desert portions that came out It was a bit of an adventure finding the place too after recommendation from hotel reception. Down narrow allies with hardly anyone around. But it is very expensive, especially with the Aussie dollar to the Euro. Would not recommend family dining (as we were) but would be great for couples.

(Translated by Google) Benedetta, the young owner, welcomes you with a smile that has a hug. A petite girl but from the look strong but gentle. You like his restaurant intrigue you, you wonder where it will take you. The site presents a modern first impact with square tables and chairs in Hans Jørgen Wegner style, Nordic short, but also a little English, there is a green color that is king on the walls and between the ceiling beams. Not a green whatever, a kind of opaque lime with various shades. Can you drown, it seems that the lagoon is part of it. It has a wonderful light, it eat attached to channel that skirts. Between the windows there is also that the kitchen is open to view. They tell you with them do what they do and make you realize that they do it well. The dishes are a variant on the old Venetian cuisine, which for those who knew her is a confirmation in another form, for those who do not know it is a gastronomic bignami, a concentration of delights, an outdoor endless. The dishes are in small doses, I like a good Pugliese with the habit of receiving large portions do not hide the skepticism in the modern kitchen made of small mono taste portions, but here I have to think again! These guys know how to do, every dish is an experience for the mouth, nose, belly. Wait, I have not yet talked about wine, my mother who sought stuff. The guy who takes care of buying wine is called Manuel, also a part of her delicate and gentle manner almost the holder, (looks like an alien among the Venetian restaurateurs), has an excellent palate and an enviable knowledge of the matter. What can I say, if you do not just eat but want to learn something go, it's extraordinary. I recommend the grilled octopus at low temperature and the risotto of gò: fantastic !!!! Ps: it is not affordable for all budgets, (the minimum spending over € 50 for the basic menu we say, then from there up to infinity and beyond!), But you have to say, I never I paid so willingly a restaurant, chapeau !!!

I mean it was just perfect. Not too fast not too slow. It took 90mins for me to finish all course and yes I eat fast :) My favorite dish of all was the one with eel and the last one something with chocolate. Just amazing. Oh and there will be chef’s surprise at the end which was very pleasant surprise. From that, I liked yuzu candy and salted caramel chocolate the most. Just visit there. You won’t regret💖

Great little restaurant in a picturesque canal side location serving a nice modern twist on classic Venetian sea food. Staff were excellent, without being over the top (the sommelier was top notch). If you get the chance to speak to the staff the origins and reasoning behind the restaurant do so. This is the third time that I’ve been here and it seems to have gotten better each time, but quite frankly, what’s not to love about a place that serves you a pre starter and and pre and post desert!!!! Pricey but, completely satiated...

If you like good food and are willing to try new stuff and don't mind paying a bit more for it, Local is the restaurant for you. From the bread to the dessert, everything was perfect. I just wish I had more budget so I could try the 8 course menu.

I recently visited this restaurant and had a very disappointing experience. The service was incredibly slow, and to make matters worse, there was a hair in my dessert. Despite bringing it to their attention, they never apologized or offered any resolution. On top of that, they also forgot to serve us the petite fours. I was left feeling extremely disappointed with the overall experience. I hope they take this feedback seriously and make the necessary improvements. Please don't even bother to dine here. The food wasn't great anyway. There are definitely other Michelin-starred restaurants that are much more worth trying. Don't waste your time and have an experience like ours.

👍👍 The best pizza I’ve ever eaten & my family too. It’s all about the pizza base - they mastered it. 😍 Price is very reasonable. Great ambience. Long queues so worth booking for dinner. Walk-in for lunch time is possible though. Back to the pizza base, it’s so fluffy & airy. Thin & crispy in the mid...
