This was my first time here and I absolutely loved it. I had the lunch special Mango Chicken and the Samusa soup. (Hoping I got the name right) one of the best soups I’ve had in a long time. The spices and flavor, amazing! I will definitely be back.

Great selections of Burmese food. Tea leaf salad and cat fish chowder are my favorite. Pork curry also tastes very flavorful with different spices. Chicken fried rice using brown rice with harder rice texture which tastes really good as well. High ceiling interior makes the space comfortable and welcoming. Highly recommended!

This place largely lived up to the hype for me. The sesame beef was some of the lightest, most flavorful I've ever had. Also loved the vegetable samosas and the platha with dip. The garlic noodles and mango chicken were good, but not as memorable. There was a snafu with a drink we ordered being unavailable and no one ever offering an alternative beverage, but otherwise service was fine.

This iconic place on Park in Alameda is the perfect place for a night out on Alameda when you are looking for something a little exotic but very tasty. The restaurant is located in one of those old establishment buildings full of that sense of coming from a different era. There is a decent amount of indoor seating plus plenty of outside seating in their own enclosure by the street, but quite comfortable. I often get a craving for three food offerings at this place and so I am a regular customer. A meal there would not feel complete without an appetizer of Platha bread with curry (chicken curry, but there are substitutes for vegetarian tastes or lamb, one of my favorites). They have a number of great skillets, I really like the shrimp with mango or alternatively with walnuts. They are delicious. There are plenty of other options with chicken, lamb or eggplant, so there is something for everybody. The waiters are always super friendly and accommodating. As you can tell, I highly recommend this place, both for the food and the ambience - probably my favorite Burmese restaurants.

Went during Alameda restaurant week, I love this place! The portions are really big, so be aware of that. Also, the coconut rice is really terrific if you haven't had coconut rice before.

This place is yummers!!!! It was my first time and I loved everything about my experience. My friend and I came here for lunch. We were greeted warmly by our server and provided several recommendations on the menu. All of the food came out quickly and was full of flavor. If I could go back tomorrow, I definitely would. Although I can't come back tomorrow, I will definitely be back soon.

A place I set sail to with high expectations that were actually met SO well that I went back? Unheard of! I don't know if this matches up to food straight from Burma/Myanmar (Sorry for my ignorance about the political nature of the names, I am but a humble traveler) but it's delicious in its own right. Beautiful rice, well-seasoned entrees, and delightful and friendly service, maybe I'll go a third time!

It was my first time trying Burmese food, and I loved it! The crunchy Burmese Style salad was tasty, and the curry was delicious too. I haven't been to Myanmar so can't tell whether the food is authentic, but they did a great job making it flavorful. You'd like their food if you like Southeast Asian food in general. I'd revisit when I'm back in town.

Tried two of their lunch specials which are offered seven days a week: Chili Lamb and Mango Chicken. The bad thing in my visit was that their signature item on the menu was not available: Tea leaf salad. Chili lamb was well balanced and not too spicy specialy when I tried it over coconut rice. Mango chicken was also very tasty and well balanced between fruit taste and spices.

This was my 3rd time coming here and it has yet to disappoint. A lot of items on the menu are tasty (like the sesame chicken and ) but what I get everytime I come now is Platha and Dip (appetizer), string beans (highly recommend), followed by the Pork Curry with Potatoes. The dip is heavenly, perfectly cooked chicken and well seasoned sauce and the platha (a buttery layered flatbread) is amazing and pairs so perfectly with the dip. The pork curry is just 🔥🔥🔥, it comes with a lot of meat and potatoes which makes me feel better about the price, I almost always have 2 meals out of it. The meat is very tender and the curry has a lot of flavor with a little bit of spice. 10/10 location with great outdoor seating (has a bunch of heatlamps,) total for 2 pork bowls and dip was $~87. Five ⭐️ definitely recommend even if you've never had Burmese food

My order: Samosas, Mango salad, Shan noodles with Hodo Tofu and Spicy noodles with chicken. Each dish was delicious and impeccably prepared, and the salad is the best I’ve tasted so far. Must MUST try restaurant in the Bay Area!

A Gem ! My fav restaurant in alameda. Anything you get off the menu will taste BOMB! Really excellent mixed drinks that pair well with the food! The eggplant is so delicious. They have so many vegetarian options that are just as good as their meat dishes. Service is fast despite it being a regularly busy spot, and prices are fair for the portions.

Excellent food and services We were here for Father’s Day lunch. The place was relatively packed, but our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The food came our pretty quick too. We love the mango shrimps, the tea leaves salad and the lamb. The coconut rice was also very good. Highly recommend this place.

We were walking around Alameda looking for a place to eat and What caught our attention was the amazing food smell that came from the restaurant. This is the second time I try Burmese food, and order the lamb in red curry sauce, garlic noodles, a Thai tea and beer. Everything on the menu looked appetizing and I am definitely coming back to try out more things. We asked for something spicy and they brought out this delicious red paste which was flavorful and perfect for me and they also brought some Thai red chiles which were high tier spicy. We dined outside, and had a great experience. Shout out to our young Waiter. Enjoyed his positive energy. Gracias,

Burma Superstar offers a delectable balance of both flavorful dishes and refreshing drinks, creating a culinary experience that satisfies both the palate and the thirst. During my visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in a variety of dishes and beverages that showcased the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence. Starting with the food, one notable highlight was the Tea Leaf Salad. This signature Burmese dish combined fermented tea leaves with an array of fresh vegetables and crunchy nuts, creating a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. The vibrant colors and complex taste profile made it a refreshing and satisfying choice. Moving on to the mains, the Coconut Curry Chicken stood out as a true masterpiece. The tender chicken was simmered in a creamy coconut-based curry sauce, infused with aromatic spices that tantalized the senses. The depth of flavors and the richness of the curry made it a standout dish that paired beautifully with steamed rice. To complement the savory offerings, Burma Superstar also offers a range of delightful beverages. The ginger lemonade, with its perfect balance of tangy lemon and invigorating ginger, provided a refreshing and rejuvenating option. It was a wonderful choice to cleanse the palate and enhance the dining experience. For those seeking a more adventurous drink, the ginger lemon drop cocktail was a delightful option. This creative twist on a classic cocktail combined the sweetness of a lemon drop with the aromatic essence of ginger, resulting in a captivating blend of flavors that left a lasting impression. Whether it was the satisfying main courses or the refreshing beverages, Burma Superstar showcased a harmonious balance between its food and drink offerings. The carefully crafted flavors and attention to detail in both aspects contributed to an exceptional dining experience that catered to various preferences and cravings. With its flavorful dishes and enticing beverage selection, Burma Superstar successfully combines culinary delights and refreshing drinks, ensuring a well-rounded and memorable dining experience for guests.

Oh my god the food was so good. We weren’t expecting to eat here but on a gloomy, chilly, day in SF having a bowl of curry with fluffy coconut rice hit the spot. We also ordered the appetizer of coconut curry chicken dip with thousand layer bread and nearly a year later I still think about it. Heavenly. Delicious.

It’s been a few years before I’ve tried this place again, and oh man, why did I not come back, I don’t remember. Food and service was amazing! Highly recommend! We ordered: - vegetable samosas - Samosa soup - garlic noodles - spicy noodles - fiery hodu tofu w/ side jasmine rice

The food was delicious ( tea salad and coconut curry soup), but the service was impeccable 👌🏿. The waiter needs to train all the waiters in the WORLD. He was courteous, the timing was perfect, he was gentle and just had awesome table service.

This is some of the best Asian food in the world and it's here in the Bay Area. I'm assuming it's the best because it so good and I can't imagine better quality food with this much flavor and quality ingredients. It's delicious. It fresh. It's worth it.

5 stars is not enough for this place. Some of the best food in the Bay Area. Their platha and dip is amazing, and I've never had better coconut rice. I have no idea what is in the tea leaf salad, but its awesome. You can buy their cookbook on Amazon.

The Tea Leaf Salad is delicious as expected. The Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup is tasty and came with large pieces of chicken so you might want to break up the chicken for children. The Pumpkin Pork Stew is fantastic, though some pieces of kabocha squash were a little hard. We would definitely order those again. The Garlic Noodles were not what we expected. The noodles were thin and the flavor was light and almost bland, especially compared to the other flavorful dishes we ordered. The bowls of jasmine rice were huge! We were going to order 3 bowls, but our server suggested we order 2 bowls. I'm glad we followed his suggestion.

The pork curry and chilli lamb were pretty good, but I’ve had way better coconut rice elsewhere. If you like Thai food, and looking for something that feels familiar & simple Burma is a good spot.

We love this place and so does everyone else. Get there early to get a table, otherwise do like we’ve done the last few times and get carry out. They’ve got the process down to a pretty good science, person outside can take order and grab your food, no need to go inside.

I stumbled upon this gem while antiquing in Alameda. I love the food here, especially the mango salad. It is lite and very refreshing.
