Eaton Canyon

Tourist attraction β€’ Hiking area

πŸ‘ Popular hike. Easy trail to begin with but half way through, gets more technical in footing as you have to cross the stream. The popularity makes this more challenging since you have to wait for people to finish crossing. Destination and journey are beautiful though. People often mention hike, water, trail, waterfall, stream, people, area, crossing, feet, shoes,

Great easy trail to take the family on. Keep in mind that the water level is quite high and you will get your feet wet. So either wear appropriate shoes or be prepared to take your shoes off. Water is cold! There are three parts where you will have to cross the water to get to the falls. Lots of people were on the trail this last weekend. But there's still plenty of space and areas to explore. Parking was full but we were able to find a spot pretty easily in the overflow parking. Most of the trail is in the direct sun so be sure to wear a hat and wear appropriate sun protection.

Had an epic day today.. 4/7/2023.. Thier were a lot of people but had the time of my life sharing the trail and crossing knee deep water.. The pay off an awesome flowing water fall at the end.. I used trekking poles it made the crossings a lot easier...

What a place!!! Wow!!! Amazing place for a mid size hiking in Pasadena area. Well managed park with restroom and enough parking space. Most people go up-to waterfalls located around 2 miles from starting point. Waterfall is beautiful enough to boost your energy and you can spend some time in a falls. If you really wanna hike for another few miles, you can go above the Waterfalls trail.

I was a bit nervous doing this hike alone. At first I am a very inexperienced hiker I went around 3:15/3:30 and was nervous the sun would set before I could finish. There wasn’t much people on the trail because it rained and I was also nervous that the water level would rise and prevent me from making it to the trails safely however, this hike was beautiful! I watched a YouTube video to ensure I was going the right way towards the falls and the people that I passed on the trail were friendly and helped with directions when needed. My feet did get wet I was in running sneakers though so I did not mind. I did this hike without any walking stacks with my phone in water bottle in hand it was pretty simple. It took me about an hour and a half including a 5 to 10 minutes sit down at the waterfall I jogged on some of the straightaways but it definitely could be done quicker if needed. I love how this is an easy drive from downtown LA yet you feel like you are hundreds of miles away. I even saw a man riding a horse on a trail so that was pretty cool. Can’t wait to continue exploring LA’s waterfall hikes however, this one certainly tops the list

Make sure you bring enough water amd comfortable shoes before you go. Trail is nice and has some nice shade half way through and has a cool stream running through. Also take your trash with you.

This is an amazing place to go for a hike. With a waterfall only 2.5 miles from the entrance, feeding a stream which flows all the way out, the trails are lush and gorgeous. Regularly crossing the stream, with only boulders and logs to help traverse, the trails provide an enjoyable experience. I'd recommend good balance and a staff to help on the journey. The air is cool and crisp, due to the fresh cold waters. With approximately 50 feet elevation change from entrance to fall, the hike is a gradual incline with only a few areas to climb up or down. Most steep inclines have alternate paths, though perhaps a bit more precarious, provide a route for those who have a difficult time climbing. Expect to encounter a good number of people navigating the path with you, as this seems to be a very popular destination. If you enjoy taking nature photos, be ready to have ample opportunities.

My favourite trail in the SGV - a bit challenging to cross the river multiple times in late winter but rewarding. Great for all hiking levels.

I got lucky and went after a rain, the flowing river that required 6+ crossings was the star of the hike but there was no shortage of beauty along the whole route! Would def recommend.

A fun and easy trail for beginners. A great hike in the middle of busy LA. The trail is pretty much flat with very slight inclined and also features a lot of crossing over the stream - stepping on stones to keep the feet dry. The reward to the hike is a beautiful waterfall and the water stream was unusually strong due to the rains in April.

It is a great place to get kids trying out hiking and they will also have great time to play water as rewards! Its only about 3 miles of hike, so the whole trip was about 1.5 hours or less. We spent more time near the creek to picnics and have the kids to play water. Once you are in the water fall area, there are plenty of area for them to enjoy some water fun! There is also an education center at the beginning of the hike. I am very happy to see a small frog in the creek as these nature fun is no longer "natural"

Eaton Canyon is a gem. I can't believe how great this natural area is so close to a major metropolitan area. Easy hike. Plan to get your feet wet. Everyone in the family will enjoy the walk/hike. Bring water and wear sunscreen. Enjoy!

My family loves hiking here. I recommend hiking here on a cool day. The first 1/3 of the hike isn't in the shade. But the last part is mostly in the shade. It's especially nice right after it rains so the waterfall is bigger. The hike is about 4.3 miles.

Great, well maintained trail. Lots of singles, couples and families and dogs on a leash. Moderately difficult with some boulders and large rocks to navigate. Not to mention crossing the stream several times. You will likely get your shoes wet! Also depending on the rainfall, might be a bit more difficult but overall great. I'll be back!

Nice place to visit on a clear day during winter or early spring because there is lots of water in the stream and waterfall. Trail is good however prepare yourself to get your shoes wet as you cross over the stream 11 times going up to the waterfall and 11 times coming back.

Beautiful, challenging...be prepared to walk through the little river, you should bring water shoes and shorts. You will be getting wet. It's challenging trying to get to the waterfall, but it's rewarding at the end.

Nice little hike with quite a bit of shade. The water and waterfall are clear and beautiful. Wear boots to balance over the rocks on water crossings or be prepared to have your feet wet. However, when I went it was very, very crowded. Not the type of hike you go to feel nature. Do not leave valuables in your car, there was glass on the parking floor from break-ins.

It was a nice hike. Opens at 8am, for parking in the parking lot. Bathrooms on site. Early you go, less people. The waterfall was sad due to the drought.. several other trails you can hit, so it makes it all worth the while.

The canyon itself is great. I had not visited in over 10 years, so I was really looking forward to the hike with now my six year-old daughter. Some trails have washed off due to recent rains, and there is more crossing of the brook needed to get to the falls. However, it was way too crowded when we visited a couple of weeks ago, so we did not make it to the falls. It was good, though, to find out they opened another large parking area, which also adds to the numbers of visitors. I wonder when the area will go back to normal and be a place to relax again.

It's a must hike. Half of the trail is really soothing. The sound running water from the creeks. It really was a treat. It is a dog friend hike. People reconsider if you are gonna bring strollers. The trail crossed the creeks many times.
