I’ve been to this place numerous times over the years and it’s one of the best Chinese restaurants in California. Excellent menu selection and great customer service. Today we ordered the walnut shrimp, crispy chow mein house special, spicy pork chop and Chinese sausage fried rice along with chicken corn soup. The walnut shrimp is always great here and the crispy chow mein is a solid selection. The spicy pork chop is alway delicious when paired with the sausage fried rice. The chicken corn soup has always been a great starter too. I highly recommend this spot and there’s a lot of items to choose from. Peak times parking can get limited but worth the wait.

Not a bad place for Chinese food. I have passed this many times but never had gone in for food. Today, my friend invited me for lunch and he happened to be in South Pasadena. When I first went in, I didn’t think they would have authentic Chinese food. But I was wrong. When the food came out, the taste of the dishes was in par with the foods in Alhambra and Monterey Park next door. I especially like their mandarin pork chop which is a sweet and sour pork chop. On the pork belly with preserved vegetables dish, the taste was on the light side. The seasoning hadn’t completely penetrated the meats yet. For the scallops and asparagus dish, the flavor was right on. I guess this restaurant passed my taste test for authentic Chinese food.

My wife and I and including our friends decided to have Chinese meal then our friends tell us about the Chinese restaurants in South Pasadena called the Oak Tree Inn. My wife and I surprised there's a Chinese restaurant in that location we throught it was a motel for years but it was a restaurant. Our friends say they never been there but other family members been there and they say the food is really good. We step in the restaurant we were surprise how nice inside the restaurant is then the hostess show us to the table and hand each of us a menu then we order our drinks. We were at the menu and what we like to order then we decided order we order orange chicken and walnut shrimp and BBQ pork fried rice and crispy beef, and other items. The food is really amazing good big portions and why we share. I really enjoy the walnut shrimp and BBQ pork fried rice and other dishes were delicious my wife and our friends love it. We need come back again.

Lobster on par with Boston lobster. Two of the best in south California. Egg yolks fried crab is an interesting idea but not quite pulled it off compared to classic styles like ginger and green onions. Regarding the remaining dishes, the Cantonese style diced fillet mignon is excellent, and recommended. Something Luna Asia should learn from. Fried oysters good to very good, oil temperature a little high made the batter a hair too dark. Fried rice is above average, except I prefer it without diced carrots. Steamed fish has exacting temperature control so texture is excellent, if the flavoring of the sauce is better, it would be a home run. Young bean plant is excellent, enough garlic and I can't find fault anywhere. The stuffed chicken skin was a slight backward step, and was not as good as the bomb pre-covid. The shrimp paste recipe changed both in texture and flavouring, slightly gummy and bland, but on the whole still is good to fair. Recommended for novelty appeal because nobody else I know do this dish. Overall firmly recommended. Much better than Luna Asia, and slightly cheaper than Boston lobster.

One of the more traditional Chinese spots in Pasadena. Given the proximity to SG, Alhambra, and Monterey Park, aka 626, I would say Oak Tree delivers in traditional authentic Chinese food. I've been here multiple times. Service is quick and efficient w nice portions. Food is seasoned and not bland. The menu is pretty extensive (3-4 pgs). I ordered and dined multiple times. It's been consistent on almost all occasions. Seems like it draws in the neighborhood local, which I love.

Some of the best authentic Chinese food in Los Angeles. Portions are generous, and the lunch deal specifically is a great deal. The eggplant is a must try!

Always was impressed by the quality of this place for Chinese food. I have been very impressed by both the authenticity, and rich flavor profiles. This place is underrated, but few places around the surrounding area have the same quality. This is not to be missed if you are craving Chinese food.

We have driven by who knows how many times and said, we need to trying Oak Tree Inn. We finally made the time and must say, we are kicking ourselves for not making the time sooner. Every item we ordered was packed with goodness, the speed of service was crazy, felt we had just put our order in, on a busy Friday night, and our food just appeared. It was awesome. Be back soon

The food is great and served in a nice atmosphere. I wish they'd treat their fish in tanks a bit better. Portions are large and can leave you leftovers for future meals. Delicious!

Very good Chinese food in south Pasadena. We’ve been coming here for 25 years. The Atmosphere bright, roomy, clean. They have live seafood tanks and lunch specials. Lots of parking and there free. They can accommodate large party. No reservations needed for under 6 people. If your in this area, it is worth a taste.

A good Chinese restaurant in South Pasadena, often overlooked by the vast majority of newer Chinese population in San Gabriel Valley. I think because of the multi-racial customer base, many local Chinese may think it's not "authentic", but nothing could be further from the truth! For one, the restaurant's "banquet style" Chinsse food is really quite delicious and on part with other local Chinese restaurants. I think Oak Tree only loses our due to its limited dining room space. Please visit, even the lunch special selection is quite excellent!

The food was great !! BUT they kept hurrying us up to leave it was my granddaughter graduation so we all arrived at around 8:10 pm one of the gentlemen said hurry or we can’t feed you I understand they have a set schedule but we didn’t arrive to late they close at 9:00 pm and they stood right in top of us waiting for them to pick up are plates so we can hurry up faster it was just a lil uncomfortable for ME but other than that it was good food I will be going back just a lil earlier so I won’t be pressured to hurry and swallow 😁. So my stars are low because of the atmosphere were you have all the waiters just waiting for you to leave!!!

Love this place. Great, friendly service, excellent yummy food. Especially love the Chefs special tender beef filet. It's a must order. Also had war wanton soup, string beans with pork and assorted appetizers and combo fried rice. All delicious. Service is friendly and fast. The wait staff make you feel like they are happy you've come. I like that the dining room decor includes table linens and interesting art and light fixtures, yet feels comfortable and welcoming. Parking is easy and free.

Its gone down hill this last couple years. The food was good, but not as good as it used to be. The service was terrible. We waited too long for our food, and to get waited on in general. I used to swear by this place, but it looked like they were struggling with not enough wait staff. I feel sorry for the fish and lobster in that tank as you walk to your table too, knowing its going to be on someones plate eventually. Sad. I didn't have the hot and sour soup this time which is the best here, kind of wish I had. Maybe it will be better next time.

Oak tree inn is the go to spot for excellent Chinese cuisine and better yet excellent service from any restaurants in Los Angeles. Our family has been going here for 2 decades filled of birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations. They always take good care of us. If you decide to bring your own cake they will cut it up for you. We will keep going to Oak Tree Inn just because they will always treat you like family there. Heads up to always ask for your seasonings and spices right after you order. Since the food will pull up almost all at once. Before your soups come in ask the servers for your white pepper and chili oil! Last but not least, they have fortune cookies dipped in white chocolate 😋. Thank you Oak Tree Inn for staying one of the best and out lasting the rest!

First time there and every dish we got was very very delicious. To many to count and our party didn't leave anything behind so it must have been great!! I would have pictures however hunger did not allow for such things to happen hahaha

This is a family sharing style place. I like the clay pot rice with meat, honey walnut shrimp, garlic string bean (not the spicy one, the spicy one is meh tbh), and beef chow fun. The pork chop is a must try if you haven't yet as well. I'd recommend going during their lunch time if you can because the lunch prices are a good amount cheaper!

Been to Oak Tree Inn for years. Just getting takeout from them these days. Great selection of Chinese foods. Lots of variety to choose from. Would recommend to try something other than the norm.

Oak Tree is a family favorite that we keep on visiting after so many years. The food is consistently delicious! Our favorites are the deep fried fish, fried calamari, sweet and sour fish filet, broccoli with garlic sauce, sweet and pungent shrimp, and the crispy combination chow mein. The Yang Chow fried rice and Singapore noodles are also good! My mom likes the clams with green onions, while my brother likes the Peking style pork chop. Everything that we've ordered has been wonderful! The service is prompt and friendly. They even allow you to bring your own dessert, so we've had a few family birthdays here. You can't go wrong with Oak Tree!

Friendly service. Clean environment. They will walk you through the menu without hesitation. The food is delicious and the quality and taste is consistent. Some of the best Chinese in the Pasadena area. We ordered the bok choy and black mushroom, egg fried rice, green beans and Peking duck. The special tender beef filet, sweet and sour chicken, and sweet and sour fish dishes are delicious as well. Haven’t tried something I don’t like!

I’ve been coming here for family special events since 1992. This is my go-to spot for authentic Cantonese dishes served family-style. If you’re only ordering for yourself, then leftovers will be your new favorite meal. Why stick with boring Panda dishes when you could have an entire pan-fried Cantonese style chicken or a whole plate of tofu! My standards are the green beans, Chef Special filet, and fried-tofu.
