Insanely good! The portions are gigantic and the sandwiches stick to your ribs. The pastrami is shaved, not those thick diner cuts. Its a perfect dip but also great on a cheeseburger. I would order extra pickles with everything and beware of the large fry, it’s quite large.

The Hat is one of my favorite burger places ever! The Pastrami burgers are always mouth-wateringly delicious and so are the Chili cheese fries! An absolute gem of a place—thank you The Hat!! 🍔 🍟 🎩

Hands down, worlds best pastrami! 🏆 I moved to Arizona a few years ago so when I’m come back to visit family, I stop by The Hat. Amazing food with huge portions. 🤤 A pastrami dip, small fries and small drink ran me $21 but you could honestly split the sandwich and fries so $10 for 2 people isn’t bad. I wanted the chili cheese pastrami fries but it would have been too much for me so next time I will get that instead. No regrets on stopping here. The Hat is the best. ❤️

A long time favorite and still holds the bar high for pastrami sandwiches. Still the spot after 25 years of coming here. Tasty pastrami and great chili cheese fries. They have lots of other items hut this is always my go-to here. Great fot sharing (or not), but the food sizes are still very big. When I used to come as a teenager I could eat a whole pastrami sandwich and chili cheese fries all by myself, now I have to share the fries with my 3 kids to put a dent in them. Will keep coming back. If you've never been, give it a try, you won't be disappointed. For those that haven't been in a very long time. They now have a larger parking area in the back as well as a seating area in the back with bench style tables.

The self proclaimed "World Famous" Pastrami Sandwich, The Hat is an iconic institution in California. After multiple referrals, I made it a point to visit the original location off W. Valley Blvd. in Alhambra. Portions are generous, but not cheap. I was only able to eat half my sandwich. Customer service was non-existent, which is fairly typical at a popular, churn and burn type establishment like this. It's sometimes nice to just get a small smile and feel appreciated from time to time too though. Food was ok but underwhelming. I actually wanted to get the roast beef sandwich and chili fries, but didn't want to go there and NOT get the pastrami. If I were to do it all over again, I would probably get my first choice.

Good size lot to park on Order outdoor which is nice, has an Easy Coast window walk-up style feeling. Ordered Chili Fries, Chili Burger, and Potato salad. The fries are very large but can taste bland since there's no cheese or toppings aside from chili, so they're perfect for sharing. Great spot with consistent quality flavors

I'm a LA local for almost 30 years and this is only my second time trying the Hat. The first time was with an ex and the chilli fries were not that great. Maybe it's cause of the ex. 😂 but this past weekend I had the chilli cheese fries with pastrami and it was really good. The fries were a little heavy but I can see why they give you such big slivers of onions cause it cuts the fat a little. That balance of the acidity with the greasy cheesy and sauce was perfect! Oh man the pastrami was *chef's kiss*. The balance between salty meat, acidity with the pickles , and a touch of sweetness with the bread was delicious. I would get that again but I definitely would try all the other things on the menu like burgers. The atmosphere is 3 stars only cause this location is on a corner with lots of fast moving cars

Oh my stars and PASTRAMI! I came to The Hat on a whim and I’m GLAD that I did. I heard from my dear friend BRYAN SUITS that this place offered a delicious pastrami sandwich. Guess what? I like pastrami! So… I simply HAD to try this place and I dragged my girlfriend along with me to do so. To put it BLUNTLY, this place DELIVERED on my expectations. I came EXPECTING a fine pastrami sandwich and I left with one being digested in my stomach. The pastrami on its own would have been delicious, but when it is combined with mustard and pickles, as is the case on the Pastrami Dip, you have a fine sandwich on your hands. PURE BLISS IN EVERY BITE. I also ordered a LARGE side of onion rings and those were simply scrumptious as well! Medium warning: the dining area as well as the food ordering zone is OUTDOORS. This was not a problem during my visit and it likely won’t be one during yours AS LONG AS you check the 7 day forecast and dress accordingly. Okay. That’s it. I will be coming back very soon for Pastrami Dip round 2. Begin preparing for my arrival.

The hat never dissapoints. I hadn't been to this location before. It is a walk up. My pastrami burger was wonderful! The staff were great and my food came out quickly.

The food and service were good. Outside sitting only. This location is open till 1AM daily. Chill Fries strongly recommends, especially for two or more, persons in your group.

The pastrami dip was packed full...I always take out half the meat and use it for grilled sandwiches later...The fries always generous and got from fryer. The steak sandwich less filled, and only a cousin to a Philly...if u hope for a Philly this would not satisfy that craving...but overall a nice lunch. I don't get why there are haters out there but it's a decent pastrami, not too fatty, and the bread was chewy and soft. The fries dry out if you try to reheat them in air fryer...eat them when u get em....they don't survive time well.

The hat is a great place, if you like chili cheese fries try it with pastrami or if you like gravy, wet fries. I would've uploaded pictures but I was too busy enjoying my food. The pastrami sandwiches are delicious too. Might be a little messy though.

This was first time I went there, the food was delightful and filling. The chili fries are listed as a side but it's far from it. The service was subpar but I didn't expect good service anyways they got the job done no hiccup. The hotdogs come with relish 🤮 def ask to remove, if it's not in your taste. Chili dogs have onions, tomatoes and pickles added and were surprisingly delicious. The grilled cheese was loved by the children on sourdough bread and grilled perfectly 🤤. Although it didn't appear as so the turkey burger was better than expected. Took a star away simply due to the actual customer service. Food cools down fast, Definitely eat there at the provided tables!

The Hat is famous for their pastrami and chili cheese fries. It is our favorite to-go place for deliciously nostalgic fast food. This particular location had limited seating outside, not the best but because it is the original location it is understandable.

Always ordered the chili fries here and today came in to try the turkey and ham with added cheddar cheese on sourdough. It was so fresh tasting and soft that I loved it! The only thing I'd advise is if and when adding cheddar cheese, just know it's shredded cheese, not slices. They do hook it up with a lot of cheese, though. Too bad we don't have these in Colorado it's one of those good distinguishing tastes. Definitely give them a try, especially the pastrami. Only negative here is no inside seating. That's not a big deal for me, but no restrooms is. All good, tho!

Went to another The Hat in Temple City weeks before and can confirm that the taste and quality are uniform across locations. Ordered the Pastrami Dip again and very satisfied. Good portion of pastrami for the price. If you're trying to be health conscious, split one for two and eat some greens from elsewhere haha. Beware, it can get a little messy to consume.
