We had a lovely late afternoon visit to Hacienda San Jose La Vista and a delicious meal at Tarragon al Fresco. We made a reservation at 5p and were greeted on arrival by Joaquin Amaro who also assisted us during our visit by showing us around the grounds while we enjoyed a glass of their light and refreshing Rose wine. We also had a chance to see their wine cellar. The highlight of our visit was the meal we throughly enjoyed. We paired each entree with one of their wines and were glad we had to chance to come by for a visit. The restaurant and winery are about a 1/2 hour from the center of San Miguel, so not super close, but can easily be reached by securing RT transport like we did. We also had a chance to meet the restaurants executive chef Francisco Gonzalez.

Delicious food and a great experience. Also expensive. Main dishes are 300-500, and drinks are a little under 200 each.

So disappointed in a place that looks so fantastic in photos and location...there is zero signage to direct toward the restaurant, the outer Gates have no instructions on how to get in, Google maps sent us inside the vineyard to a dead end, it was just very frustrating overall. The food was tasty, but super expensive and for what? The dining environment was like a generic banquet Hall not a cool restaurant with a vibe or anything. I would not go back and I would not recommend it to friends.

The food was great..a little expensive, but def worth going to if you want to treat someone to a special dinner. You do need to make reservations ahead of time though. The view is awesome from the dining area, and it is a nice place to walk around before or after you eat.

My wife discovered the restaurant while searching for wineries in the San Miguel de Allende area. The pictures of the food and setting looked wonderful so we booked a reservation. The drive to the restaurant was about 20 min. from San Miguel. Upon our arrival we were cordially greeted and assisted by a staff member who directed us to the elevator and pushed the button for the correct floor. Leaving us to ride in the elevator alone Walking into the restaurant we were met by the same staff member, who had taken the stairs, and ushered into the dining room. The panoramic view of the countryside and presa with San Miguel in the background was spectacular. We started with a bottle of the Rosé from the San Jose Lavista winery, where the restaurant is located. My wife thought it was the best Mexican Rosé she had ever drank and I concurred. The appetizer was Roasted Eggplant & Burrata di Mozzarella which was superb. For our main course, my wife had the Frutti de Mare Risotto, and I had the Filet Mignon. She continued with the Rosé and I ordered a glass of the Malbec which was excellent. Both of our dishes were perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The finale was a chocolate mousse with peanut butter ice cream covered with a lavender foam. Spectacular. The service throughout our time there was excellent, attentive, and nicely timed. We also spoke with the restaurant manager who took us on a tour of the restaurant's wine cellar after our meal.
