Must visit place if you are in Mexico City, the pyramids are in great shape but they not allowed to hike any more after the pandemic. It has a very beautiful view and well designed construction. It take about 1-2 hours to go around the place with large pyramids on either end, the sun pyramid and the moon pyramid. Recommend taking water and a umbrella or a hat as you can’t find any sunshade once you enter the place. If you come early in the morning you can find several places arounds the pyramids that are offering balloon ride

A truly incredible site that is a must visit. A short day trip from Mexico City you cannot miss this. The entire area is like a special museum showcasing the beautiful architecture and history. You can explore the area on your own but I highly recommend going with a certified local guide. They know all the history and can show you around the area in the best route possible ensuring that you do not miss any of the interesting sites, while also explaining the full history and importance of the area.

Teotihuacan is the most visited historical sight in Mexico and I can see why. Being so close to Mexico City, population 22 million, and all the tourists that travel to Mexico. The day I visited was cloudy and not hot, but I am told it can get very hot so plan your day appropriately with clothes and water. Having a guide is going to bring the place to life. There are hawkers in the sight but they are pretty good and prices are over the top. You will see people clapping in front of the structures, and you will understand why when you are there. Yes you should visit and a day is going to be appropriate for most tourists like it was for me.

Beautiful pyramids with lots of history behind them. Definitely recommend going with a tour guide they can tell you all the history behind the them and the land. Plenty of vendors selling souvenirs as well so try and haggle for the best price you can. Few stores before getting to the pyramids, would advise to buy some water for the walk as it can get warm

Definitely a must visit when you’re visiting Mexico City. Make sure that you try the hot air balloon ride over the pyramids before you go walk the site. They don’t let anyone climb the pyramids at this point of time due to the pandemic

There is no need to buy tickets in advance, use a tour bus or guide. Self guided tour and public transportation is good. Unfortunately you still can’t walk up the pyramids, so the whole experience is about 3 hours. Bring hat, comfortables closed toe shoes and lots of water and snacks. Also try to arrive early.

The best way to arrive or by taking a bus from the North Bus Station. Cost of the ticket was 55 Mexican pesos and the buses leave the station aprox every 15 minutes, keep in mind they only accept cash. The buses will leave you at the entrance of the archeological site. And they come back to the city from that very same spot just across the street... Once in there taking panoramic pictures is definitely a recommendation so you can get the whole pyramid in the picture and not be too far from it. Arrive early so there's not that many crowds and the sun is not at its highest point. Bring comfortable shoes. I did some 10k steps that day. Bargain bargain bargain to the souvenir people. Necklaces for Mexican people were going for around 50 pesos and twice that for white people. If you can avoid speaking English before buying do so. After buying use it as much as you want. As far as food there's a couple of local places nearby but if you can take a lunch before leaving the city that would be better. Enjoy and don't destroy.

Beautiful place, you can feel the energy of the people who came before us. It is a lot of walking and stairs but if you go through gate 2 you will come in directly in front of the pyramid of the sun. It’s unfortunate that you can no longer climb to the top of the pyramids but I understand they are trying to preserve the architecture for future generations to explore. If possible to to arrive at opening time to avoid the larger crowds and the heat. Plenty of vendors selling souvenirs inside and you can find some really cool items.

A must see, 90 minutes from Mexico city. Got a private driver and tour guide for the trip. Well worth it, the guide was very knowledgeable about the area and made navigating the day simple. They only accept local currency for admission fee, no credit cards. Wear comfortable shoes for the day. Without climbing the pyramid it was about 2 hours of walking and exploring. There were vendors everywhere throughout the complex and a huge line of shops going out by parking lot #3. If you're going to buy anything from them it seemed that all prices were negotiable.

It was good. Way too many street vendors… Makes it less enjoyable. Watch out for the heat even when the sun is not fully out. Hat, sun screen and water are A MUST. Do not recommend after 12pm. Do NOT buy the tickets online. Way cheaper at the ticket office!

I came with a group. Got a private guided tour. A lot is commercialized but the vendors there need your money so it's ok. They take credit cards. There are bathroom stalls. The guided tour was great. Lots of groups here but not too too crowded. Make sure you bring water, but they have some you can buy, hat suncreen or umbrella to cover up from the sun are must. Not sure what time this opens but I imagine a morning tour would be lovely. Definitely worth the visit. No you can no longer climb the pyramids.

Amazing experience! They only accept cash for the entrance ticket. If you need more pesos they have an atm machine inside. Make sure you take comfortable shoes and plenty of sunscreen! There is absolutely no shade, I put sunscreen and still ended up getting sunburned. You will spend almost all day here, so take water and be ready to walk the whole day. The pyramids are huge, for sure a must see for everyone.

Visiting the Teotihuacan Pyramids was an extraordinary experience. The site exudes a special energy that's both calming and revitalizing. Climbing to the top and descending was not only a great workout but offered incredible panoramic views that left me in awe. The pyramids are a perfect place for meditation, where you can connect with your inner self amid a truly relaxing atmosphere. It's almost magical how it leaves you feeling happier and more at peace. One added bonus was the ease of parking; there were no crowds during our visit. This made the journey even more enjoyable. I highly recommend exploring the Teotihuacan Pyramids for a profound and uplifting adventure that will leave you feeling renewed and connected.

Amazing, just amazing... 🌟🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 We had a great guide who explained as much as he could, in fact the tours extended. It's best if you are part of a group because the Tourguides charge by the hour not by the number of people, so the bigger the group the cheaper per person... Be prepared with sunblock, hat 🤠 or cap 🧢 because you'll regret it you don't!!! Also bring water to avoid overpriced bottles inside. Bonus tip, once the tour is over you'll find crafts at half the price you find while walking through the site (along the tour) 😉 Finally the museum next to it is a short one with some very good pieces to admire.

Awesome historical site and lots to see. Bring water with you as it’s hard to find inside. Also, only one restroom inside so make sure you know where it is. Overall, great experience and recommend. The vendors selling inside are also fair and affordable.

Amazing historical site, but far too many vendors and souvenir peddlers here. Some aggressive, but best way to deter them is to simply wave at them— give them the “Heisman”… international body language that says “I’m not interested”

Great lil shops just to get small gifts or the hat you forgot. They won't let you walk up they still worth seeing. Try to avoid direct sun between 12 and 1. Go early and enjoy the balloons or get in a ride early morning.

Big. Me feel small. Don’t do a tour group, just go to the anthropology museum the day before so you can learn yourself. Take an Uber there and back. MUST SEE if you make the trip to Mexico City.

It was a great place to visit. Definitely go with a guide who can tell you the History. There’s lots of tours that take you from Mexico City to the Pyramids with other stops along the way. Be prepared to walk a lot when we went it was super hot so make sure to have water. Although they do have a store where you can buy snacks & drinks it can get real busy.

Such a beautiful place to explore. It’s a shame that you can’t climb any of the pyramids anymore. If you get here when they open at 9, you will have it practically to yourself. Lots of vendors by about 10-10:30 and all prices are negotiable.

I went with a tour group that arrived early in the morning and I was glad I did. We were the first group there and had the entire place to ourselves. Lots to see and lots of history here. The pyramid of the Moon and the pyramid of the Sun are amazing. Very interesting how this entire complex is laid out and designed. I recommend a tour group with a knowledgeable guide. There is allot of history here that you are going to want to know. I recommend wearing a hat. A big sombrero would work best the sun is very intense here.

It's a lot of walking, it's huge. Wear a comfy shoes. Free restrooms. Bring your own tissue paper. We miss one Pyramid because we run out of time. And we don't want to miss the public bus back to the city. Entrance fee is 90Mexican$ and children are free.

Just wow! I've seen many pictures of these famous Aztec temples since childhood, but being able to see it in real life is totally different. It was breathtaking and there's no way of visiting Mexico city without paying a visit to Teotihuacan

We found a tour experience via the AirBnB app, and boyy, was it so worth it!!! We had a personal tour guide prior to arrival, and they told us all about the history and the past of these amazing structures We learned that the natives even had ICE!!! We saw their amazing art, and I was so surprised by the fact that the colors have still maintained their strong colors due to the fact they used natural pigmentors. The sights are amazing. The pyramids are breathe taking, and you can purchase souvenirs from a lot of walking vendors

Awesome ruins of an ancient city. Over two miles of pyramids and buildings of various sizes that include the gigantic pyramid of the sun and a little smaller but equally impressive pyramid of the moon. Most of the structures have been restored by archeologists. there are also a few residential structures restored, and some murals. An absolute must if you're in Mexico's D.F for more than a day.

One of the best, if not the best, experiences I’ve ever had. The pyramids are beautiful pieces of art that you can admire from up close or even far away. No matter what you do, you will enjoy it. Lots of historical and pre-historical sites located within. a lot of vendors with locally-made souvenirs. Highly recommend bringing enough water, sunscreen, snacks, hats and comfortable shoes.

Definitely worth a visit. We spent a couple hours here with a guide, learning about history and culture. It gets pretty crowded mid to late afternoon but the place is so big, and that's not an issue. The haggling and chasing after you from some of the vendors was very overwhelming and annoying but most of them didnt cross that line. It's unfortunate they don't let people climb the pyramids anymore - seems like a convenient benefit of covid for them. Wear sun protection! Super exposed.

The two pyramids are impressive. The street lined with the framework of temples is also impressive and when seen together...it is very easy to put yourself back in time and feel the area come alive just as it was back in time. Almost a must to get a guide. I can't believe that a UNESCO World heritage site has no maps within the area, no real info about anything. I kept thinking they could easily put 10-20 large wooden maps around the area and point the direction to the next info piece, would make the site Incredibly more enjoyable. We wandered around looking for the next highlight and ended up walking twice as far to not find anything. Frustrating. Def worth going...But, my suggestion, get a guide if you can.

Amazing experience. We booked our journey including a balloon journey (recommend that). We had an guide who told us a lot about the temples. There are a lot of salesmen, they sell a lot of stuff. If you walk a little more to the museum, you have "legit" stores with handcrafted art. It is a nice place, but not a must see in my opinion. But that depends per person.

Beautiful and very educational! They have a lot of tour guides and a lot of excellent shops for gifts. Bathrooms are free and clean my only 2 issues were the line to enter was a long wait so will definitely recommend buying your tickets in advance. Also, there are not many areas to sit.

The pyramids were impressive even beyond my expectations. Truly one of the most incredible archeological sites in the world. Well-worth the trip from Mexico City, the road is smooth and well-maintained and directions are clear. Plan to spend at least several hours at the site and 1-2 hours traveling to and from.

Absolutely epic place! A city with unknown origins; no one knows how these massive pyramids got here! I highly recommend a tour guide so you can learn about the history of the grounds, and theories of how this city came about. Great photogenic spot. Lots of vendors with good prices; bought a few Knick knacks to take home. Can get pretty hot so make sure to bring water and snacks. Will visit again next time I’m in Mexico City.

Make sure you hire a certified guide to take you through the whole experience, we're lucky enough to meet a great guide who told us every detail about the whole place, made me wonder how people built these pyramids over two thousands years ago with the technologies, skills and tools at that era, simply amazing and a must when you come to Mexico city.

  • 5/5 Maxim I. 9 months ago on Google
It’s absolutely amazing. We came with a regular bus from the North Station. It’s pretty easy. Some UBER drivers offered to take us there, but they charge way more. When you come here make sure you have a hat and a sun screen. The place is huge and you’ll have to walk a lot. Make sure you have enough time to walk around and then see the museum. They don’t sell food inside, so bring your own snacks or sandwiches. They have free roaming vendors inside who might be somewhat annoying, especially if you’re not planning to buy anything. If you are, they take cards. Otherwise the place is beautiful and you’ll spend the whole day there.

Great experience! More walking than I thought and lots of stairs. I would keep this in mind if going with someone with limited mobility. Pretty much impossible to get through without several sets of steps up and down. The walk itself is at least 1km in between all the structures. It caught my mom off guard but we were eventually able to make it taking our time.

Totally worth a trip. We went on a weekday and it was not too crowded. Wayyy too many vendors. If you are visiting from out of town, it's a spectacular day trip. I suggest taking public transit. Tours will not provide any value.

One of the coolest archeological sites I have ever had the pleasure of visiting The pyramid of the sun is stunning, and it was so cool, seeing inside of the temple of the Jaguar, underground. Go on a weekday when it isn’t, super crowded, put in some noise cancelling headphones, and Walk around and try to imagine what life would’ve been like 2000 years ago

  • 5/5 Debisree R. 9 months ago on Google
This is archeological site with historical importance- a must visit. We booked a tour through TripAdvisor. In morning we started with a hot air balloon ride on top of the pyramids, followed by breakfast. Next we went inside the archeological site. It was a separate ticket. I recommend to bring cash. However, there is a credit card ticket machine too. You need to walk from the gate and visit the pyramids from outside at your pace. There are guides, mostly Spanish speaking. You probably can find English speaking guide too- but tbh I don’t see any good reason to hire. English speaking guides demanded a huge money! We visited in summer, and the sun was hot. I recommend bringing umbrella/ hat/ sunscreen/ water. It’s a bit of walking. I personally didn’t reach until the pyramid of moon ( but went up to very close). You can’t climb them though. There are many local vendors selling artifacts. If you want, keep some cash ready.

I have been wanting to see the pyramids at Teotihuacan for a LONG time. Finally, another item checked off the bucket list. So beautiful and magical. I think having the right tour guide and group helps in the tourist setting. We lucked out with ours. We booked our experience via AirBnB... Gabriel & Hugo... much love. The ONLY downside for me was that was could not summit the pyramids. Over the years, people from around the world have been visiting and it has taken its toll on the pyramids. Some people made off with some of the obsidian that was part of the temples, others even grafittied parts of it... 😡 Covid and the closure of the park were the perfect marriage to simply continue the "no climbing" restrictions put in place. Otherwise... it was AWESOME!!!

If you love history and wonder where humanity come from, it’s a great place to understand a lot of our ancestors. I recommend to arrive the earliest possible to have time to explore all around and visit all the museums, also during the morning will be good to walk and take pictures as the place is not crowded. Also it is perfect to go in a weekday and not visiting it in holidays

If you like Ancient History, Archeology or you are simply an explorer that do not want to missed a bit of your trip… the Pyramids of Teotihuacán has to be in your bucket list 💪 Our entire family loved the opportunity to learn more about the old Mayas, Aztecas and Mexican History. The pyramids are huge and impressive and the entire compound is beautiful and very peaceful. The nature and different sounds performed by the local vendors flutes creates an atmosphere out of this world. Do not missed the opportunity to visit this attraction! They offer in-site tours but I recommend to do a little research before going to have a better understanding of the history and ancient traditions 100% recommended 👍

Well the place is amazing. But honestly for whomever have to take care of it is a zero star. The sign are worn out. According to numbers this place get over 3 million visitors a year. And where are all that money goes. This is a form co corruption on cultural heritage. The maintenance. The sings There are vendors line up the whole terrace. And one get tired of being offered things to buy.

Went on a Tuesday and enjoyed the quiet and crowd-free experience. Unfortunately, you can no longer climb a lot of the pyramids. Luckily we were able to experience the very top of La Pyramide de Sol many years ago.

The best - must visit place, it is incredible to witness what mankind was able to build years back and with the technology of the time. - metro and bus from mex city was pretty easy and straight forward. Give it a go and save money To improve: - there is barely any info onsite about the place. There is a museum on gate 2 which helps, but once you are walking through the temples, there is almost no info - more bathrooms (at least one at each gate) Pro-tip: - if you are in mexico city for a few days, make sure to go to the antropology museum before going to teotihuacan. It will provide a lot more context into what you are seeing

Nice historical site. You get to walk around no longer walk up. Not much for shade, so take a hat. There are too many vendors of stuff not made locally. They do sell hats though if you need one. The little museum is nice as is the garden.

Words cannot properly express just how magnificent Therese pyramids and surrounding structures were. The mystery of who actually built them and lived there is one for the ages. I went with a small group of 12 and the experience was really magical. The weather wasn’t too hot and we even had a wonderful breeze while we were there. You can no longer climb to the top of the pyramids, but seeing how many steps there were in each, I was more than okay with that. There splendor of this World Heritage Site is not to be missed. Taking a Daytrip to visit this site is an absolute must when visiting Mexico City.

What a great place full of history! If you are here spend the time, learn as much as possible about it, bring water, sun cream and hat to protect you from sun. Everyone advised not to buy from guys selling souvenirs next to pyramids, I found out best prices after negotiating would be there, from local guys on statues, magnets, etc.

  • 5/5 Antonio A. 10 months ago on Google
Amazing! It was cool, I went with my girlfriend and this place was so big, unfortunately we didn't have enough time to visit more places and another pyramid because we arrived at 1 pm, and the rain dropped at 3 or 4 pm, so you really need too much time to explore. But aside from that, everything was beautiful!

The site was amazing. Totally worth the 40min drive from Mexico City center. The guide we used was terrible. Her name was Liz Beth. If you prebook with a travel company, do yourself a favor and demand a college educated historian, anthropologist or archaeologist who is specifically familiar with your site(s). Do NOT just settle for a “licensed” guide. Many “licensed” guides may not know much about your actual site history. They are not licensed for a particular site. They are licensed as guides generally. Ours was quick to point out that she had a high school education and had also taken some technical classes to pass her Guide test. She was uninterested, il-informed and more frustrating than helpful… BUT Teotihuacán should not be missed!!

An absolute highlight one should not miss. The flying traders are anoying, I think I said "no gracias" 500 times today! There are also Quad-tours offered. They are very expensive and bring you from one tourist trap to the next. The people are very friendly and helpful over all.
