I do not recommend this museum. It has only one piece of mural of Diego Rivera. On the second floor there are copies of ramdom famous art pieces around the world. I had never seen a museum with a bunch of printed paintings. It is basically a fraud. They should not charge for the museum.

The museum exists to house one of Diego Rivera's murals. If you're going to the palace of fine arts, it's worth going across the park to this very tiny museum. Outside the entrance is an institution that exists in every major city, a bunch of men playing chess, with avid onlookers. Inside, you can get very close to the mural and examine the detail. Entry was 40 Pesos, 2 USD, including 5 pesos as a camera fee. The upstairs was closed, presumably because of the pandemic. In normal times, there are temporary exhibits there. When you go in, you'll get a temperature check, hand sanitizer, saved then a body spray front and back. Backpacks are allowed.

Rivera might have been repugnant and cruel (Frida called him "The Toad") but he possessed a powerful and lasting artistic power. This is a remarkable piece -- it's the history of Mexico thru Diego's prismatic vision. At least to 1948ish... It's filled with remarkable portrayals and worth the price of admission.

The mural is very impressive. Give yourself extra time to read the description and notice all the characters in the mural as it represents different aspectw of culture and history. I was surprised to find an exhibition of things made of sugar, quite detailed.

Only one thing to see in this museum but it’s an awesome mural. Steep $ for a single exhibit, but hey… it’s CDMX! Great place to take the backpack off and use the banjo too.

Small museum with one of the main paintings by Diego Rivera. Mural was rescued from other buildings. The rest of Expo are few prehusoanic objects from Diego's collection and alfeñique figures that are not very well preserved and withour much explanation. Cost is $45, only cash.

We arrived on a Saturday around 3pm and there was a big group in front doing card exchanging and selling goods like in a flea market so we were a little unsure about the entrance. But once we got through the crowd and inside the museum, it was very calm. We were able to check our bags and the front. 40 pesos entrance and 5 peso extra to take pictures. It is just the Mural, but there is an interesting photo display of the making of, earthquake and transport of the Mural. I think if you are nearby, take a stop!

Calling this a museum is a joke. There is litterally ONE big painting you can see (March 2022). That's it! Big disappointment..

We didn’t plan to go to this place, but I’m so happy we went! The mural is insanely beautiful, it so interesting to read about characters on the mural, it’s just incredible piece of art. Sincerely advice to visit this place!

Ultimately one visits this museum for one thing only and that is to peruse in detail the magnificent mural by Diego Rivera. It is worth soaking it up at real life scale and it truly is an impressive work of art. The museum provides a bit of context, which is welcome for those with greater historic interests. It would have been good if there would have been a truly snappy digest version of this available, since we spent virtually all our time using the diagrams and spotting details such as historical characters and scenes in the mural. Contrary to my expectations, my kids were quite easily persuaded to take an interest. There are scenes of torture and violence for those with concerns or sensitivities, but unlikely much worse than the average crucifixion in the plentiful churches of Mexico. I'm quite confident my kids handle this with balance, after initial fascination. It helps that the mural has an inviting colour palette and the discovery tour of the characters lends itself well for a bit of education on Mexican history. For anyone visiting the city centre, it's well worth stopping here for a bit. It's one museum visit that doesn't have to take hours if you don't want to.

Cool museum that really serves to house the Diego Rivera mural that was rescued from a hotel that collapsed in an earthquake. Cool pictures of the actual salvaging from the hotel, and then of course, the mural itself. Cool place to go, but it’s really all about that mural

An interesting museum to visit, and the entry fee is cheap enough. The main attraction is the mural "Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda Central". There are some smaller exhibits, but it's important to note that this mural is the only work by Diego Riviera at the museum. It is impressive, though. The history of how the mural was saved after the 1985 earthquake is illustrated using photographs from the time. There is a display providing details on all the figures in the mural, both in Spanish and English. Also important to note is that there is an additional fee payable if you want to take photos.

The mural itself shows the history of Mexico with its struggles from the Spanish Inquisition to the revolution. It is absolutely beautiful and full of interesting characters including Diego Rivera.

I thought this is a smart piece of art. The artist whom has a immense ego (Good). He, used deep symbolism. Look at the size of the hands, the eyes size and his shading colors choices. Without knowing the history you learn whom was in the painters mind is good, whom is neutral and whom is bad.

Amazing mural. Totally worth the visit! It’s free on sundays and it wasn’t too busy at 11:00. The mural was super detailed, very beautifully painted and there was an explanation of all the characters on the painting as well.

What a story about the Prado Hotel that was destroyed because of earthquake. The hotel where Edit Piaf used to sing. Fortunately, Diego Rivera’s biggest Mural survived that tragic event. It is absolutely a must seeing. Love it. On weekdays you can buy tickets for cash only, but on Sundays it is free.

It's just the one mural, few smaller paintings, and a few photos. Not expensive to get in. Bring a mask.

I’m not going to lie, when I entered and they told me it was only one mural I was a bit disappointed. However…. The mural itself is so spectacular that it definitely was worth the cheap entry fee. The exhibit also shows pictures from the huge earthquake in the 80s that slightly damaged the mural, as well as pictures of Rivera painting it. There’s also a good description of all the different representations of the mural. I easily spent 45 min there just analyzing the mural in detail. Yes, the museum is small, but I do believe the mural is so iconic and grandiose that it is worth seeing.

There is only one mural here in the museum. There are three other rooms with other exhibits. The place could be covered in 15 minutes. Mural collection at Bella Artes is the one to visit. My recommendation is that you should visit only if you have time.

Fascinating one-hour experience—and you can easily take more time if you want to fully absorb this masterwork. There is more to look at than just the mural, all of which is related and of interest if you like the subject matter

This museum is very small. But a wonderful piece of history. The mural has all the important figures of Mexican history in one image. You can see in English and in Spanish an explanation of who each individual in the photo represents and a little bit of their personal history. This is the only item in this museum. Entrance is very inexpensive under $3. Easy to get to and a quick 30-minute explore

Honestly they don't have much, it's a small museum, they only have the Diego Rivera mural and that's pretty much it. There's no much to see, just a few pictures but that's it.

One AMAZING Rivera mural. Don’t expect more than one! But it’s worth it. $45, not $90 unless you want to see the temporary exhibits. Budget 15mins, unless you’re a real buff.

I came here to see murals and was pleasantly surprised with the sugar sculpture exhibit which I found much more interesting. There is one big Diego mural on display and a few paintings and works by other artists. I overheard one patron exclaim "That's it? There's only one mural in this entire museum?" which was true, but I wasn't mad about it. The sugar sculptures are intricate and whimsical. Because of the medium, they are transient in nature, slowly degrading, which probably means you can only see this exhibit in Mexico City. My favourite were the sugar caskets - they looked delectable.

Great museum to see the Diego mural. Well worth the 40 pesos. Nice history of the mutual, surviving the earthquakes and transportation to new museum location. take you time to read about all the historical, common and symbolic images. Also have extra exhibits plus clean Banos

a profoundly edifying experience, see for yourself, hire one of the very capable, knowledgeable, dedicated young guides provided by the museum, they are most definitely a boost to your understanding of this one of a kind mural.

Really cool place to visit if you know Diego’s life story. Be aware there is only one mural!

  • 3/5 Ada E. 4 months ago on Google
Seeing the photos of Google I thought there were more stuff to see than the mural. But there is nothing more, if I knew I wouldn't have paid $45 pesos to see only a mural. Such a waste. The mural is nice though.

Very small little museum with very nice history. Wouldn’t go out my way to go but if you have the time go for it! It won’t disappoint

They do not have a place to check bags. They asked me to wear my my backpack back to front after I paid. I can’t wear it like that so I offered to check it but no check. I left as it wasn’t all that anyway.

This museum houses one spectacular mural by Diego Rivera and several smaller temporary exhibits. Don't go here expecting to see an extensive catalog of Diego's work though.

  • 4/5 Chubby Y. 2 years ago on Google
There's only one mural from the artist to see, but it is worth a look, because it is full of history from Mexico and from Diego's memories. Just the history around how this piece of art has been moved from place to place is interesting.

This museum is about one specific Diego Rivera museum and it's rescue in addition to a brief history of murals. This museum can be fine easily in one hour and can be used as a filler spot while going between different locations in the city.

  • 5/5 Fritz S. 10 months ago on Google
This museum basically consists of one mural by Diego Rivera. But, if you appreciate the great effort that went into saving and preserving this mural, then you can understand how important this small museum is to the art world.

  • 3/5 Eyal R. 2 years ago on Google
Its ok. Basically has only one interesting drawing, Diego Rivera, Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in Alameda Central Park. No explanation in English, recommend reading online “Khan academy”s explanation of this artwork. Costs 35 or 70 pesos entry, not sure

  • 5/5 Sebastian M. 2 years ago on Google
It's only the mural, because there are no other expositions, for the time being, but the mural alone is worth it. It's gorgeous.

  • 5/5 B G. 1 year ago on Google
A must see! One of many of Diego Rivera's masterpieces. Rescued from a hotel, after the 1985's earthquake, or illustrates Mexican history and culture up to the late 1920s

A must see. It’s a museum with a single mural. But the mural is filled with stories. In front of it is an interpretive panel to help understand all its elements.

  • 4/5 Taylor C. 5 years ago on Google
There is only one mural there my Diego Rivera. Lots of information on the walls but beware it is all in spanish. There are english diagrams of the people present in the mural. Also, there are some small works by other artists upstairs. But for 35 pesos, it’s worth it for art lovers

  • 5/5 Halvor B. 1 year ago on Google
The mural from the hotel is fantastic, and the room where it is mounted is good. You can see it from the ground floor and the first floor. Quite small museum, but very nice. Written explanations in both Spanish and English. After visiting you can take a walk in the Alameda park

  • 5/5 Nikhil N. 2 years ago on Google
Just wow. We got free entrance, and spent an hour just looking at and marvelling the masterpiece by Rivera (there's only one mural here, but don't let the quantity fool you - there's so much happening in this one piece of art.) A must visit.
