What an experience! Unforgettable. We felt like we could almost reach out and touch the volcano. The road to get there from Puebla is very bumpy and hard on whatever type of transport you are using. You have to pay to use the bathroom which is dirty and smelly. The place could be developed a bit more which would make it an even more wonderful place to visit. I have visited several times before and always enjoy it. Even with the negative things mentioned, it is worth it. Breathtaking! Please go!

Did a guided tour with Que Loco Tours from Mexico City. It was a wonderful experience seeing this part of Mexico. The volcano erupted a few times when we were there and it was amazing to see!

The best time to enjoy these volcanos is between Aug-Oct in terms of snow-covering beauty. The best time to hike from Paso de Cortez to the chest of Itzlaccihuatl may be from Nov -Jan and April.

Nothing compares to walking towards great peaks ... narrow paths at some points, beautiful flora everywhere... some oxygen struggles... crazy 9km car road after the public road which is already quite adventurous... it is all worth it... simply astonishing sensation of being close to clouds and seing the popo on one side and the izta on the other... a lifetime experience and one that will question your strenght, commitment and passion. Please respect yourself and treat nature as your mother, source of life.

Great experience. Well managed park with a couple good hikes. Definitely go if you're in the area. Amazing views. You can get up in collectivos from Amecameca to the West, via public transport from CDMX or Xalitzintla from the East via Cholula/ Puebla

This was a marvelous road trip with my mother. It's about 90 minutes to 2 hours from Mexico City depending on traffic. No pets allowed but there were a lot of dogs anyhow. The visitor center was closed unfortunately and appears to be in some state of interior redesign. There are a LOT of roadside food grills to stop in if you're hungry. Lots of hiking opportunities and easy to get to - just drive carefully on the winding road. It's well maintained but the parking lot has a lot of deep gullies that can trap or damage a small car. Be careful where you park. Overall, highly recommended.

Starting point for hiking the national park. Register at the center first where you will find information about the park flora and fauna. Bathrooms in the parking area for 10 pesos.

Absolutely a delight! Go out from Mexico City and explore. Take a hike and walk through the forest! Enjoy the scenery. Bring sunscreen, bug spray and first aid. The usual outdoor stuff!

The closes volcanos to Mexico city. you are not allowed to climb Popocatépetl but trekking in Iztaccihuatl is one of the best experiences. Landscapes are awsome. If you visit with family and little children there are plenty places in the valley with games and places to eat or camp with toilets . If you are here for trekking and adventure there is a refuge close to the top but I recommend taking a tent since it can be really crowded. Entrance to the park is 35 pesos.

A very beautiful place that is better described as a former national park. The natural beauty is still there, but the maintenance of facilities is minimal. More of a national forest, which I prefer anyway as they attract less people. The road from the Puebla side sees minimal maintenance as well, so it can be difficult for some vehicles in sections. I rode my bicycle up and it was difficult, but passable with mountain bike tires.

We went with an local guide who became our friend. We traveled from Mexico city to this beautiful national park, which I can't pronounce 🤣. We didn't see the volcano itself, but saw the smog coming from the vulcano. The park is very high, so if you're coming from a place where you are around sea level it will be pretty hard.

It's an amazing place to visit. Great views, panoramic experiences, an incredible weather. I'm not an expert in this area, so I recommend to check out the instructions from a professional to the ascending walk: be prepared to walk a lot; don't take heavy backpacks. You'll enjoy a magnificent and mesmerizing encounter with nature.

Bunch grasses, wildflowers, cactus, and views... Also, on the way up before the entrance, were eateries. The fresh blue corn tacos with mushroom and pumpkin flowers were delicious.

An adventurous drive from the Puebla side but smooth sailing from the Morelos/Mexico side. A must visit stop at Paso de Cortes

Beautiful forests, and views on both mountains are spectacular. Felt safe all the way coming from Cholula via Nealtican and San Nicolas, just watch out for incoming bikes ans cars

Great for walks, the route to la Joya is VERY bumpy. If you want a quieter walker, stick around the visitors centre, there are paths, from la joya it is just a trail or even less.
