My husband and I are huge foodies and have traveled all over the world eating amazing food. This is our perspective of Pujol. I thought the service was fantastic, the space is beautiful, the food is beautiful, but I probably would not go back. I thought it was extremely expensive in comparison to other restaurants in Mexico, but I’m sure it is mainly because how renown this restaurant is. The dishes were not something I would normally pick off of a menu, but I felt they were all executed very well except I was disappointed in the tuna dish. I know the mole is very famous, but I think it would be better served with meat or something to put it on top of. It is very rich by itself or just with the tortillas they serve it with. I thought everything was very tasty, but this type of style is just not my favorite for a dining experience (very “cutesy” with ingredients you have to look up because you have no idea what they are). I was concerned about it being enough food, but we were definitely full when we left. I think some people love this type of restaurant, but it’s not my favorite style. That being said, I’m glad we went and had such a unique meal. I also want to add that I think chef Enrique Olvera is very talented and inventive.

We were really excited to check out this restaurant and it was due to be a highlight on our trip. The service here is excellent the restaurant is set in a beautiful location and has a very relaxing atmosphere. We started our dinner with some cocktails which were well prepared and nice. The menu looked interesting we were told that we would also have a pork dish that evening which in fact we never received. The food in my personal opinion was highly overrated. Yes it was unique but nothing that really stands out the mole main course was delicious but a main course that is literally a sauce and tortilla are you kidding me no chicken or rice or anything else???? A couple of the courses you had were literally sauce and tortillas over all very underwhelming to be completely honest the highlight of the dinner was the dessert. It was uniquely different and had different elements of texture. All in all I don't know how this place is #13 in the world. I have eaten at Michelin star and at world ranked restaurants all over the world this was highly hyped. This definitely does not live up to the hype. It was quite a disappointment which is too bad beautiful space excellent service I just need some re-tooling of the food. I also found the menu courses to not match or pair up well there was no cohesion.

Solid 3.5. I had been looking forward to this meal for weeks but sad to say it did not meet my expectations - not even close. The space is gorgeous and the service was good, but the food simply did not impress. The dishes look nice but none of the dishes made me think, wow that was fantastic. And when the check came, I felt that the value didn't match the price paid whatsoever. I think it's clear they're taking advantage of the hype, and just don't care about the quality delivered. Maximo for instance was much tastier in my opinion and more reasonably priced. And honestly charging 200 pesos for a bottle of water is a scam. They can really do better for the prices they charge.

I had such high expectations for Pujol after hearing about all the hype for the past couple months. We went for lunch and had the regular tasting menu (not the tacos tasting menu) and frankly we weren’t too impressed with our overall food experience. First off don’t even try to get in for lunch or dinner if you don’t have a reservation for either tasting menu seating. The design of this restaurant is beautiful it’s half inside and half outside with lots of greenery. The service and the staff were very good but our food experience was below what we expected. The 7 course meal felt like it took forever, we got there at 1 and left at 430. In our set menu there was no dishes with meat, it was only fish which was a little disappointing. They are very attentive to clients food restrictions and or allergies. The snack and the scallops were the table favourite and from there the rest was disappointing. The plates did come out looking beautiful but the flavours weren’t up to what we were expecting from Pujol. The dessert were good but by then we had been there for so long that we just wanted to leave as the restaurant’s vibe was stiff and poshy with no music. The price point for what we got is a little harsh I’m no cheapo or every to complain about a bill but this was a stiff one specially when we all left hungry. Really was disappointed by Pujol as I expected much more especially with the hype of it being the best restaurant in Mexico City.

The attention to detail is superb and the wait staff does an excellent job sharing the details of each entree. I was a little disappointed that this restaurant charges for filtered water, and for each refill you get (I don’t even request for the refills, they just kept coming; they charge by the bottle that you don’t even get to keep at your table). I think it’s important to notify guests of this expense. Lunch tasting menu was alright. I heard the menu items are exceptional, but I didn’t get to try them since our reservation was solely for the tasting menu. My husband is a big foodie and he thought this place was good, but was not mind blowing or exceptional (for the food). We would not return, but it was a good (and expensive) experience!

A great experience and excellent setting. There wasn’t a wine pairing when I went but they did offer what they thought would be a great drink to pair. I would opt to finish dessert in the patio if the weather is nice and it isn’t too busy. Food wasn’t mind blowing but it was tastefully done and had great flavor to it.

I'm not sure how this is classified as one of the top restaurants in Mexico City. There was nothing amazing about the food or the drinks. None of the flavors were unique, surprising or special. The service was fine but lacking some essentials (we only got 3 menus to share between 5 people, and we were asked if we wanted drinks without having been given a drinks menu, and then they never came back to take our drinks order). The ambience was okay, nothing to write home about. Nothing about this "experience" (if I can even call it that) was worth the insane price tag.

A bit disappointed. I was hoping to enjoy it a lot but objectively it didn't reach the quality... When the wine and beer are more enjoyable than the food is a bad sign for a place like this. I don't mind paying for a nice experience but this place is overpriced. A bit weird and awkward that they put people together in a table without asking. I would prefer a more private dining if I'm with my partner//family. Be careful if you drink because they might try and charge you more if they think you might be drunk...but they will apologise quickly if you realise. Not cool. Food flavor is nice of course, but not mind blowing if you are Mexican or if you are an experienced foreign traveler and food lover. Not coming back but I guess it wasn't the worse.

The only positive thing I have to say about Pujol is that the restaurant decor is aesthetically pleasing. I believe that it was once a fabulous restaurant as I know several people who had great things to say (none of whom have been in the past few years). I visited last week, on my first trip to Mexico City, after wanting to eat there for at least 6 or 7 years. The service was clunky and mediocre. Finding out about wine and even getting to look at a wine list was far more difficult than it should be. Not one dish we were served was delicious. Not one. There were elements of some that were good, but nothing I would like to eat again. The mole was the best thing, but serving it with only tortillas that are half odd-tasting leaf, half tortilla just wasn’t yummy. It’s rare that I take the time to write a restaurant review, but Pujol seems to be resting on the laurels of what it once was (and many dollars from tourists). There is absolutely no reason to spend $200-300/person at Pujol when some of our most delicious meals cost $45 for 3 people. Don’t waste your money!

The atmosphere was very nice and the staff were very prompt. We received the tasting menu and the waiter explained each dish served. A few things were very tasty. I do not like cilantro and one dish was very heavy with the flavor. My dining companion enjoyed it. Overall, I was very disappointed with most things served. At this price point I expected more.

First off atmosphere and service were top notch. Made it a high class experience. I was expecting more from the food-side. With the hype of this as one of the best restaurants in North America, I expected to be blown away by at least one dish, but each dish was good but nothing I’ll remember the flavor of past next week. For the price I’d say it’s a fun experience to do once, but there are plenty of other great options to keep trying in CDMX. Wine pairing was great

Everything here was absolutely fantastic. As part of the omakase tasting menu I got to try crickets. This is something I never thought I would try: it tasted lime-y spicy. We had a vegetarian in our group and the restaurant was able to accommodate their needs.

  • 5/5 Vee 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful place, very sophisticated and modern. We did the tasting menu and were very full of delicious food by the end. Some portions were a little big, and I wasn't sold on the one weird foam/goo combo for dessert. (You get 3 desserts.) Could have used some substance and texture. And you really have to love and appreciate mole for one of the plates, which I guess I don't enough because it was like eating a plate of sauce. My date loved it though! There were some standout options as well. Everything is nicely presented and prompt. Service was impeccable and fast, and informative. The bar is not the best stocked but they have a decent choice of tequila, mezcal, and wines. Don't expect any fancy craft cocktails but they do the classics really well, and can tweak and twist them to your taste.

Everything they say about this place is true. The food is innovative, creative, and most importantly delicious. Portion size is accurate and you will not leave hungry. And the drinks menu is extensive and made accessible with the sommelier. Service was also stellar, though I was disappointed to hear that the restaurant allegedly mistreats its staff; hope that’s not true, as would hate to contribute to the already cutthroat culture of the fine dining scene. We went for the tasting menu rather than the omakase/taco menu as we felt it would offer a greater diversity of dishes and ingredients, and we were happy with our choice; with the selection in Mexico City, you’ll hardly be left wanting for tacos! I was most pleasantly surprised by the desserts - each better than the next, including a special birthday cake I received on the house 🎂 The atmosphere in the restaurant itself was mostly serene, though the amount of staff waiting around the tables sometimes made the space feel crowded. Our server Paula was helpful, well-versed on the food and its background, and took a genuine interest in us as well! In short, if you had a doubt - this place is well worth the price, which is more than acceptable compared to other Michelin-starred tasting menus. The chef is an artist and his creation a masterpiece.

Had a lot of high expectations for this place before going and it did not disappoint. This was an unforgettable experience- 3 hours of food, drinks, plus the passion and education about the ingredients, process, art, and more. It was delicious. Transcendent. The service was top notch and the mixed pairing was divine (cocktails, sake, wine, and beer with each course). And the nearly 9 year old mole was incredible. The depth of flavors was unlike I have ever had. This place deserves its place among the best in the world.

(Translated by Google) Excellent place, it is not to go every week since the cost is high but it is perfect for a celebration. Generally, people look for prices and I put the tasting menu around 2500 per person and for non-alcoholic drinks you will spend about 500 or 600 depending on how much you order. If it is with pairing if it goes up to 5500 per person. A very good 750ml bottle of water is at 150 pesos approx. I hope it serves you.

Dining at Pujol, renowned for its place among the top 10 global restaurants, was an experience I had long anticipated with excitement. This opportunity arose during a trip related to Zona MACO, and my wife and I—both proud of our Mexican heritage—decided to visit alongside a couple of American friends eager to taste what Pujol had to offer. The evening was nothing short of spectacular, with exceptional service and dishes that were a testament to the culinary excellence Pujol is celebrated for. However, as a Mexican, the exquisite flavors and textures, although of unparalleled quality, were reminiscent of the rich culinary experiences I've grown up with. This familiarity made me ponder the value, considering the premium cost, especially for locals accustomed to the depth and diversity of Mexican cuisine. It's a splendid journey for those seeking to immerse themselves in the refined tastes of Mexico from abroad, offering a unique perspective on traditional flavors. My advice to fellow Mexicans would be to approach Pujol with the understanding that the experience is designed to elevate what we know and love, presenting an opportunity to see our cuisine through a different lens, even if the essence feels familiar. For international visitors, I wholeheartedly recommend embracing this exceptional experience that beautifully showcases the gastronomic heritage of Mexico.

We reserved a table for four a month ago and when we got there we were seated in basically a big coffee table with big chairs, very appropriate for drinks but not to eat food. When we requested a regular table they said none were available. I understand that because of the pandemic restaurants are to seat people outside only, but come on, either let me know in advance the seating setup so I can decide if I still wanted to go or invest some money getting regular size appropriate tables until the government allows restaurants to eat indoors. It is unbelievable and absolutely inappropriate that one of the best restaurants in the world doesn't have regular tables for customers to seat while the pandemic is on. We were extremely excited to visit. They did offer to have us change dates for our reservation for the next day but we must fly back to the USA tomorrow. Upon arrival we saw they were moving tables from the interior to the exterior for other people. They could have easily done this for us. The solution was simple and they said no. We offered to order wine and sit and wait for someone to leave and again, we were told NO. This is really not what I would have expected from a world renowned restaurant. We left extremely disappointed.

Hot take: Pujol is overrated. A parody of fine dining. Service was the worst we’ve experienced in a long time. We arrived right on time for our reservation and it took them 40 minutes to even serve us drinks. The waitress was brief and seemed annoyed by our questions. They used their personal phones to shine a light on the food as they served it because it was too dark. No napkins or table cloth and they place the cutlery directly on the table (during covid). Cocktails were so over priced, not authentic and average tasting. Not very creative food: three of the dishes were accompanied by tortillas. And to top everything off they literally turned off the music, started putting away all the tables and cleaning up before we were done and we were by no means lingering. We were promptly eating our food, which they took so long to serve.

Had waited to go to Pujol for a long time and it did not disappoint. Just a beautiful experience. The mole madre was a highlight, incredibly complex flavors (wish I could have taken a bucket of it to take home). The ambiance is classy and intimate with beautiful wood and concrete interior details. Service is perfectly orchestrated and attentive. The only disappointment were the wine recommendations, so I'd opt for the inventive cocktails with uniquely Mexican ingredients. P.S. Please respect the establishment by dressing for the occasion - a group of Americans showed up in sweatpants and socks and sandals, and pulled out a laptop mid meal - utter disregard for the carefully prepared experience you receive at the restaurant.

Esquite experience. The ambiance is truly truly out of this world. The building structure and the plants and the outdoor seating are absolutely marvelous. Food is wonderful as well (although Quintonil is better on the merits of food alone). The meals are a creative exploration of flavors and are sure to keep your palette engaged. The outdoor seating for desert is a brilliant customer experience journey.

Came here with my husband because of the show Chef’s Table. It was a unique dining experience that you want to have once if you are visiting Mexico City! You can tell there was a lot of time and thought that was put into each dish which we appreciate. A+ for creativity! The service was flawless. Some reviews may say this place is overrated but if you like to indulge in fine dining, definitely give this place a try!! We booked our reservation 3 months ahead so make sure you pre-book before your trip!

(Translated by Google) It was my second time in Pujol. A great experience, yes, we paid a bill of over $ 20,000 and tip of $ 2000 for 3 people. This, because of the pairing that the waiter offered us at the table; We visit with all the willingness to enjoy and pay the price, however I think that before serving glasses of $ 1000- $ 1800 they should provide the menu so as not to get a BIG surprise at the end. I found it in bad taste and even abusive that they gave us all the most expensive drinks without consulting us.

This place lives up to expectations and far exceeds them, it has been on my bucket list of restaurants for years so for it to actually live up to what I built it up to be in my mind was amazing. Starting with the ambiance of the restaurant, you walk into this outdoor garden with seating options. The walls are covered with plants, when you go inside there are small trees inside the restaurant, the lighting is dim and the patrons chatter is medium leveled. Our menus were printed on these super nice canvas papers folded in half with a wax stamp. The whole vibe of the place is just amazing. Followed up by the service, we sat at a table for two, I went to take off my jacket to put right next to me and immediately it was hung up on a rack by a server. The way the service worked in general was impeccable, they cleaned our table between every course, they chatted with us and made us feel more immersed in the experience, and we did wine pairings so they gave us some fantastic wines letting us try everything before settling on it. The food, oh my lord the food. It was beyond my wildest imagination. We did the tasting menu, one vegetarian one regular. Every single dish was amazingly unique and the best part is that it didn't feel like we were eating separate meals. All the flavor profiles for both tasting menus were incredibly similar. The mole sauce was just fantastic, the most anticipated dish for me and just so many different wonderful flavors on your palate. This restaurant was amazing, if you are willing to spend the money you won't regret it, but it is a hefty bill.

Amazing food - lived up to the hype. Loved the ambience as well. Food came out a bit slow though; it took 3 hours for a 7 course meal. They're currently serving their seafood tasting menu. Overall a fantastic meal and experience!

We did not have a reservation and just showed up in case there were any cancellations. The greeting at the gate and front door were extremely warm and welcoming. The gentleman that took our name and information just in case there was a cancellation was extremely kind and reciprocated. The interior space was absolutely perfect and the courtyard was inviting. Hopefully we can manage a reservation here during our next trip.

This is my second Pujol experience and it simply always seems to impress. The ambiance to the service to the wine selection to the incredible food. We were blown away. I will admit I wasn’t a fan of the main fish dish but I always seem to not like 1 dish out of a tasting menu. Beyond that, everything was perfect. The chef even allowed us to come back into the kitchen and had the whole kitchen staff take a picture with us! So incredibly nice of them!

Pujol was a great tasting experience. The food was well prepared and very flavorful. We had the main dining room tasting menu and it was more food than I could eat. I do wish they had some sort of pairing but I guess that’s what the bar menu is all about. The only other thing I didn’t like was that it took 30 min from us sitting (at our reservation time) until we got our first bit of food. I wouldn’t have minded coming later if they want several tables starting at once on the same courses. Overall I really enjoyed eating here and was glad we came. I’d definitely come back for the bar menu!

Pujol lived up to the hype! From the moment you walked in the door, the staff made sure your experience was unforgettable. Victor did an amazing job explaining each dish, how to eat it, as well as staying on top of drinks. Generally it is hard to have every dish hit the mark when you have 8 courses, but I have to say each one was able to stand on its own as an interesting, tasty exploration. The combination of visual and taste was well-planned and executed. If you appreciate the culinary experience, definitely put Pujol on your must-visit list.

Overall experience was inefficient and unenjoyable. It lacks the ease and thoughtfulness of a well-curated dining experience. I get it, it's 12th in the world and yes the food is good. But there are plenty of places with great food, easier ordering, and less money. 1) No wine pairing for the tasting menu. When you have a place that's good. I just want The option to say 'The Sommalier knows best the wine and Chef's food better than I do. Serve me whatever pairs with the food'. 2) They sit everyone at the same time so it's a fight to get the sommelier to come pair your wine. It took well past the 1st course before we had even placed the order. -_- 3) We ordered a bottle of wine. Half way through they accidentally refilled by pouring some random wine into our glasses. Offered to make up for it with another drink but then just gave us American champagne with dessert without asking what we'd prefer. 4) If you're a couple, they suggest you get one of each menu and share..... But then they don't help you with sharing. The first five minutes of every. single. course. put in front of you is spent cutting a beautiful and delicate taco in half trying to make sure you equally split the herbs between you and your partner (not easy or enjoyable). Given how much effort they probably put in the kitchen to plate and serve the food as quickly as possible, I don't understand why they suggest this tactic for sharing and don't make it easy to actually share. Also they don't give plates or utensils for sharing. 5) There was a (silent) fire drill after we were seated and before first course. The staff came to the table and asked us to go outside (we thought maybe it would be a cute welcome cheers or meet the chef kind of thing) so we took our time. After learning the cause we were surprised it wasn't common knowledge in the spirit of safety.

Worth the hype. Taco omakase was on point. Attention to detail for a restaurant alike this is what you pay for. Impeccable service. No sense of snobbiness whatsoever. Great experience from the second I walked in to the second I left. I sat at the bar and watched as bartenders whipped up amazing cocktails calmly to perfection. Leave with a fun souvenir. And yes, the food is incredible. Interesting. Unique. The creations are what you pay for. And it’s worth it.

Excellent service and food presentation. However, out of the several dishes, l only had one wow experience with the new and old mole. All the taste excellent as for the wow taste just not there over all. I even found some of the taste bland. Would l go back again? "Yes". Please make sure that the flavors and herbs are evenly distributed though out the dish.

Pujol is known as one of the best restaurants in Mexico City internationally speaking ,however it is not even close to being one. I went with my mom and the tables were extremely tiny and there was hardly any space to move. If you're planning to go with just one other person I do not recommend it. I'm also surprised that the city let us have the tables that close to each other in the middle of a pandemic. The restaurant is really stylish inside, but the food is not good for what you pay . Mexico City has way better restaurants than this, I'm from Mexico city and If you're a foreigner you don't need to stop at this place, it’s just fake publicity and hype that lead people into thinking it’s a good restaurant.

Food was good but for a tasting menu is lacked coherence and a few plates. It was like i was only served very well prepared appetizers dishes without any main course. Extremely overprice drink menu, the cheapest wine glass was over 500 pesos. The mole and place are great though. It wasn’t at all what I expected. It felt the focused too much on the service and forgot the food experience.

It's an experience for sure. Could you get more for your money in terms of portions? Sure. But the food and how it's presented is something you won't find anywhere else. Don't come here expecting a Mexican restaurant ambience. You'll feel like you're in an restaurant in some big U.S. city when you look around and the the majority of clientele is American and speaking English. Cons: reservations have to be made well in advance, price is very high but expected for this caliber of restaurant. The ten-course meal in my photos was $3495 sans alcohol.

The service was polite and fairly knowledgeable. The drink recommendations could be refined. My drink did not pair well with my food. Also I was plenty full and the dishes that were intended for both vegetarian and omnivore such as the mole and corn were absolutely wonderful. However some of the vegeterian offerings didn’t seems as thought out or complex as the omnivore offering. I loved that the only lights as a spotlight over my plate making it feel like I was eating a work of art. The textures and flavors of most dishes were very balanced and delicious. I would bring my out of town friends for the experience. I hope they work in the vegeterian offerings a bit more. I wish they would seem as appealing as the non veg plates. Wish I have experienced at other placesz

There were a lot of tortillas and tacos served. That’s the main thing I recall. Food was good, not really amazing. The service was great. Environment was amazing! Very nice date place. Pricing was not bad. I can see the food was nicely sourced and reflects the price but I would only recommend to go once for the experience.

Phenomenal food and drinks. The staff here are very kind, and evidently takes their profession very seriously (my husbands napkin was folded 3 separate times after he got up to use the restroom lol).

Had a lovely dining experience. Couldn’t find reservations so I emailed the restaurant and we were lucky to get a table for lunch. The service was amazing. The food was great. Two or three things were not my favorite including the mushroom taco and the infamous mole.

I personally think this restaurant is way over rated and extremely expensive for what you get. Other people have written this same sentiment and I think Pujol has some tasty dishes but I felt like it was a well oiled machine that was too efficient for its own good. Waiters tried taking my food before I was done, and overall I felt rather rushed during most of the experience. Also, the amount of food was very small, leaving me hungry by the end of the meal. The main plate was a dish with a small puddle of mole sauce, which yes, was delicious mole, but it was just the mole sauce on the plate. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. There wasn’t a single dish that got me excited. My bill with two drinks and the regular tasting menu was $300 and could’ve easily exceeded that if I got more cocktails. I haven’t been this frustrated after a meal in a long time. Not returning here any time soon when Mexico City has an ocean of amazing restaurants.

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had . Every dish was an excellent creation. This is not your normal experience. Staff are all unique and dressed distinguished. Food is out of this earth . Worth ever penny . You must know, booking months in advance is the only way to secure a reservation .

Don’t be deterred by some of the reviews, this is an excellent experience and one worth working to get a reservation. We planned our trip in short order so I went to open table and set a notification if there were any cancellations for the dates of our trip. I was lucky and two time slots on two days popped up as available and I quickly booked. We selected the coursed meal over the omakase tacos since we knew we would have many tacos on our trip. The service was top notch. The meal was wonderful. The cocktails and wine selection are also fantastic. The table next to us had one person that was vegan and they accommodated her well, she reported that everything was fantastic too. After your meal, you can ask to take a seat in the garden for an after meal drinks. It’s beautiful out there.

Not sure this is a local favorite based on conversations during our travel, but myself and 10 friends really enjoyed the meal and overall experience. The location perfect, atmosphere very welcoming for a fine ding establishment, and the service was second to none. Very well orchestrated and we are our courses over roughly 4 hours. Each dish had different flavors and perfectly complemented the prior plate. They explained each dish and how to eat it, and recommend drinks to pair with our meals. Glad I got to go here on my life and would recommend it to anyone.

Nice atmosphere and beautiful decor, found lightening a bit too dark for my taste. Had the tasting menu, which was interesting but not exceptional. Dishes were all well prepared but did not amaze me. Great service, definitely expensive bill. Overall, a nice one night experience, but truly overrated.

The mole was great, but the ceviche was out of this world. We had a great time and met the couple next to us and we shared a great evening. We talked about the upscale traditional food served. Maybe the best service I had in a restaurant

We went on the last night of our honeymoon, and we’d been talking about if for the last two weeks. It DID NOT DISAPPOINT! My wife had the Mar and I had the Maize tasting menu, both were truly delicious. The flavors build dish by dish and the Mole Madre is the most complex and flavorful dish I’ve ever had. Even after two weeks in Mexico, we did not know the true tastes of the area until Pujol. Also our wait staff was so excellent, thank you Erick and others!

I came here for lunch while I was in Mexico City, and everything was impeccable. Each dish was a work of art and tasted amazing. Totally worth the experience. I also had some wonderful drinks (the cocktails are also great), and the dessert in the courtyard was phenomenal. The waitress spoke perfect English too, so I didn't have to embarrass myself with my poor Spanish. The service was amazingly balanced between seeing to my every need and not being overbearing. This was easily one of the more memorable episodes of my time in Mexico.

One of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever been in, especially if you appreciate clean, modern design. Food was phenomenal as expected and I can see why Pujol is the #12 restaurant in the world. Staff were friendly, professional and made sure all of our dishes were set down at the exact same time. I loved their all black wardrobe. They don't have a wine pairing but the sommelier listened to our tastes and helped us select very nice bottles of wine that paired very well with our food. The outside garden makes theeal even more tranquil and the back patio is the perfect place to finish the meal. Definitely recommend and I will for sure come back.

Fantastic experience. We lucked out. We saw that they were fully booked online through April... We went in on chance to see if they had any openings that night and we landed a reservation for the following evening. Very swanky. Service was spectacular. I'm not used to the level of attention we received... To the extent that I was startled on a couple of occasions (ie...taking my jacket off and someones hand is assisting me... Getting up to go to the bathroom and someones there pulling out my chair). Truly a wonderful experience... the food was amazing.

Incredible experience. One of the best cohesive meals ever. Small tips - Skip the tequila drink at the beginning and get bottles of wine, not glasses. It adds up. They may move you to the outside area to start next seating but it’s nice! Enjoy churros outside!

Pronto volveré a Pujol… hambriento

Terrible food, overseasoned. Lacks depth and flavor palette. Sadly this is a terrible representation of our Latin flavors. This chef appears to still be in training and maybe someday he will have what it takes to deliver world class food, but not today.

The experience was noteworthy almost only because of how disappointing it was. I’m not one to make note how expensive things are or not because that’s relative based on context (and also rather gauche) but the vegetarian tasting menu was truly not a worthy investment of either time nor expense. The main focus of Pujol seems to be pomp and presentation, which is inherently fine. I just wish the food provided was inline with the hype surrounding the restaurant itself. I was waiting all evening to be blown away by some standout course but the moment never happened. It really is just Mexican street food for gringos (which I am, admittedly). I would definitely go back but only for the cocktails and wine selection. Just eat some al pastor before you come. It’ll still be a nice experience.

It's not tasty and interesting at all. We sat there for 2.5 hours and they brought us dishes from the same ingredients with the same taste. They even brought two dishes in a row that were 90 percent the same, with sorbet. This restaurant definitely has problems with imagination. It's not even the top 1000! The employees of this restaurant should try the cuisine at least in “Celebrities” restaurant in Dubai. We didn't even try the last churas in the form of poop. These are terribly boring dishes! The sauce is also served as if it were a bunch of excrements.

!!! 10/10 !!! If there was a Michelin guide for Mexico it would be a 2 stars . The food : it's like opening gates of taste with between traditional local food fusing with different influences. Cannot really describe it since it was very unique. The team is A.MA.ZING. : really . Explanations and stories about the dishes turn it to an adventure. And ! Big up to the Sommelière guiding us with her knowledge and flexibility. The place itself : from the small garden to the bar , inside or outside it's very enjoyable , lighting decorations and music is of good taste and keep it warm . We can only express our gratitude for this place. Thank you.

I’ve been to a fine dining restaurant before in Guadalajara (Alcalde) and I was so incredibly impressed from the tasting menu that I wanted to do it again. Unfortunately Pujol was definitely not as impressive. Their signature dish Mole and the desserts were especially disappointing. The presentation on some dishes was also lacking. The food was of course tasteful I won’t say anything was bad, it just really wasn’t worth the price they charge. There are no prices for drinks anywhere announced so be prepared to pay over 500 pesos for a glass of average wine. We spent 7000 pesos for the two of us and I won’t recommend it unless this is not a lot of money to you.. So surprised they got #17 for best restaurants....

Definitely a must try for any foodie. It’s worth the splurge with two tasting menus - one for land and one sea based. Go with at least another person and order both menus to try everything on that particular menu. Each dish was better than the next and the service was impeccable. Book your reservations at least two months in advance or keep trying for cancellations.

The interior of this place is OUTSTANDING. Ambiance is absolutely there. We had one of the best servers in our life, Francisco. His professionalism and attitude are absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, despite beautifully served food, the taste was straight up mediocre. The best thing we tried was corn appetizer in the second course but that was the only good thing. They don’t offer wine pairing so you’re stuck trying to choose out of 100+ wines to predict what would work with your food.... no that’s your job! And the best for last...I found A HAIR on my tostada. To make up for it they just offered to repeat one course. I’m really disappointed, the place does not live up to the hype (and the price you pay).

Eating at Pujol was a dream and such a joyful food experience. The restaurant was stunning and full of magic, from the table to the kitchen to the expansive garden outside. The staff was warm, helpful and attentive (Karim was so nice to walk me through the garden and talk to me about their farming and fishing relationships!). It was just a work of art to see everyone moving together in synchronicity across the restaurant. Pujol definitely deserves its world class reputation - and is completely reasonably priced for what it is, and the experience you get. The food was complex in flavour, and full of detail in every bite. Every dish grabbed your attention and sparked your imagination. Beautifully presented and well cooked. I especially loved the striped bass, the mole and the play on an enchilada. I hope so very much to go back soon for the taco omakase. Update - Excellent the time second time around even with only outdoor service. Menu switched up and was still divine.

What more is there to say other than simply exceptional. From the ambiance (even during covid) , food was stunning visually and taste wise, staff exceptional and very accommodating when we were on a very tight schedule. It's simply a must visit.

This place is magical and worth the price! I had the veggie tasting menu and absolutely loved it. We did the taco omakase and for the money you pay it was a fantastic experience. I will def be back. The mole madrè was a great dish like you would already expect! Every since course was filled with surprise, favor, elegance and authenticity! I can’t believe this place is not further up the list. FYI there is no Michelin guide in Mexico so it’s not the Michelin list but for me this was one of the best tacos I have had in Mexico! I highly highly recommend it. The inside is so inviting! The only thing that I didn’t like as much was their after dinner espresso. But such a small minuscule thing. The cocktails were on point. The outside garden was not open but looked very warm and inviting as well.

I appreciate Pujol for introducing me to flavors I've never experienced. Well, not experienced often anyway. I certainly don't have a well enough developed palate for the food, but I liked the experience and ambiance.

There was no totopos... jokes aside, it is a great and worthy experience for special occasions. Their menu is fantastic, service exceptional and a great wine selection as well. As an interesting side note I had the best coffee of my life here. I need those grains!

I’m not sure where to begin. This was one of the most disappointing food experiences of my life. As someone who loves good food. This place did not deliver on any level. Small servings. Left hungry after the tasting menu. Best dishes were desserts which isn’t a good sign for any restaurant. Unable to deliver basic cocktails such as espresso martini. House cocktail list was 6 drinks long and well below par for a mid level bar let along a Michelin restaurant and rated #12 in the world (a complete and utter joke). Service was the highlight. The staff care. However priced beyond reason. Limited options. And what I would call OK-good food. Not even great/outstanding. Criollo In Oaxaca city. This chefs initial offering. Is leaps and bounds ahead of this place. Pujol was a real disappointment on almost every level.

This restaurant left me with a lot of mixed emotions. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, however if they are serving outdoors they should have heating lamps to accomodate guests better, we were a bit cold during our dinner. The food was beautifully presented, however the choice of the testing menu did not surpass my expectations, some dishes of the vegetarian options were tasteless and overcooked. Pujol is a restaurant voted #12 in the world, and quite honest it wasn't my cup of tea. 4/7 dishes were nice but not Fabulous! I was a bit disappointed. The service was on point but it was hard to understand them describe the dishes.

Pujol is currently ranked the 12th best resturant in the world. Let that sink in. Their pursuit of excellent food and service, while also honoring the heritage of their food is what earned them this award. (And many other reasons!) I suggest you look up their episode on the Chef's table to learn more. Side note, if you want a rabbit hole, look up how Michelin has quite offensively refused to award a star. We made reversations several weeks in advance online. You do need to be very prompt when online reservations open. The meal is daringly creative, and you MUST come to Pujol with a desire to learn and try new foods. Not every dish will be your favorite but it will open your mind to ways to use different foods. The most memorable moments were at the beginning and end. The first dish the elotitos tatemados con mayonesa de café y polvo de chicatana was our favorite dish of the night, which consisted of baby bites of corn dusted with a powder made with ants. It sounds scary, it was divine. Our favorite bite of the night was the Mole Madre, Mole Nuevo, which is a mole aged for 1,000 days. The time, effort, and heart that goes into every dish cannot be missed. If you enjoy food, and are in Mexico City, it is essential you add Pujol to your list.

Excellent, patient service from the multitude of waiters. Did the regular tasting menu. Dishes perfectly presented and tasty to boot. Beetroot tostada was incredible (on vegetarian menu). Mum was very happy. So why not 5 stars? Partly because my expectations were raised by all the hype and partly because none of the courses had real heat (chili). Would return to try the taco tasting but I can't believe this is the best restaurant in Mexico!

The moment we set foot in Pujol you can get an idea of why it’s so hyped up by so many people; this place is beautifully designed, so elegant, but not in an ostracizing way. As for the meal, it was an absolute amazing experience. The servers did an excellent job explaining each course in detail. The presentation was impeccable. Each plate, while extremely manicured and fussed-over, so in no way traditional in appearance. However, the flavours were unmistakably and deliciously Mexican. Our server Camilo was attentive and serious, but also had a sense of humor and charm. Pujol is by no means an affordable bite, but it’s one I won’t ever forget.

One of the best meals we’ve ever had. Everything exceeded our expectations, even the random lead between tortillas was delicious! You also get a dedicated attendant who makes sure you have everything you need and helping and politely tells you how to eat something because being dumdums there were some food items in the menu that we didn’t know how to approach. Lastly, the cocktails, never leave without trying their cocktails, balanced flavor and alcohol content. It’s like chugging an intoxicating energy drink.

My husband and I had an amazing lunch at pujol. Great service, professional and friendly staff. We had the Tasting Menu with wine pairing, cocktails and wonderful experience. I loved it. I see complaints about the price so note this is from the perspective of someone who lives in New York. I thought it was reasonably priced, and we really enjoyed the meal - service was great too. The only thing I will say is to be wary of the wine prices. We were there to enjoy and aren’t price sensitive but were surprised to see almost all glasses of wine were $20 USD+.

Definitely one of the best meals I've had in Mexico City. The service is also superb. I did the tasting menu (not the omakase) and was quite pleased with it. I'm conflicted about the cost though, on one hand there is an endless selection of extremely good food for a fraction of the cost, but on the other hand this type of fine dining experience would be 2-3 times the cost in North America. If you have the budget, it's well worth a visit. Be sure to book well in advance.

Me and my husband went to Pujol in December, right before Christmas. I was so excited to finally try this place. The hype is high so was our expectations. But after paying almost $400 usd we left very disappointed with a bitter taste in our mouth. The food was good, nothing extra ordinary, but no complaints there. Service on the other hand, for the level of the restaurant, was bad. Our appetizers came out before our drinks; new food would come out when we have only sip of wine left and nobody would offer another glass; one of the dishes was suggested to be eaten as a taco but tortillas wasn’t ready for another couple of minutes; we we offered coffee drinks only after our ice cream dessert was already at the table. Servers were very cold, short and rushed, felt like I had to pull the information from them; and when I asked questions they seemed annoyed and bothered. But they weren’t like that with other tables, so I wonder was it because my husband was the only brown guest there, or because he is Mexican and made them speak English or maybe something else…idk. But it doesn’t really matter why, what’s matter that we didn’t feel welcome at all. Something ( like appetizers before drinks, etc) wouldn’t bother me at all if it was a regular restaurant but when you are one of the best restaurants in the world, and everything is priced according to the status, I accept nothing but perfection. And it was not delivered.

Definitely a unique experience. Visually impressive and a flavor experience native to itself. Service was great but our party felt a bit neglected near the end of our tasting. We asked for a tour of the kitchen but ended up leaving since we waited too long. Overall it's still a great experience and worth it.

Spent about 4.5 hours here with a group of ten friends at the chef's table, late on a Monday afternoon. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal and drinks, as well as the impeccable service. There is definitely a bit of a wait time between courses (perfect for having a drink or two), but in the end we were all pleasantly full.

Before we start talking about the food - the ambiance here was phenomenal! Using the restroom really is a transformative experience. We had the tasting menu and the food was wonderful. The little baby corns and the churro were my favorites. I deducted one star because I have a genetic aversion to cilantro 🤢 and I feel they used a lot of it. Overall though it was a fabulous experience!

Some of the most unique combination of flavors I have ever tasted. My favorite dish is the lobster, celery, avacado pure. Highly recommend experiencing this at least once while visiting this beautiful city. The drinks are perfect and the staff is very polite. Over all, the experience was one of my favorites while visiting Polanco.

Had a lovely dinner here. I got little tripped up by worlds 5th best restaurant since there is a higher expectation and food is subjective but overall, it was good. Loved the ant and the corn. Also really enjoyed the tortillas that had leaf since I didn’t get to try that anywhere else.

Definitely a top tier service and atmosphere in Pujol. We love the appetizer and dishes with taco theme. But we might get too much hype for the famous mole, by the time when we were presented with this main dish, we were not that impressed by it. The omakase provided great variety of the food but it just lasted a bit too long (~3 hours) and we were a bit tired in the end.

  • 5/5 Ceraun L. 1 year ago on Google
This was worthy of the months wait and the price tag. Such a beautiful intimate dining experience. The flavors in the mouth was divine and you can tell how much thought and effort went into making this meal. The wine pairing is def what I would get because they were so divine and really highlighted the dishes. Standouts are the lobster Brussels sprout taco and the crab soup with crab empanada

We had the taco omakase experience and it was great. Campechena and the lobster taco were my favorites among everything we had. The drinks we had were also delicious. I will describe my experience at Pujol and at the end I will leave my final experience review : I don’t know if you can just walk in or not but in my case I made reservation for 1 person (me) so I didn’t have any issues. The first dish they brought the entree or as they called it “snack” was exquisite. The place I was seated on was nice however if you have chubby legs I suggest you mention that to the staff or your waiter, because it is somewhat tight (at least the place I was seated at by the waiter). The noice level created by the customer is relatively low and the music played was lovely it was a classy Latin American music (not pop music at all which is appreciated ). I absolutely love how each dish was explained to me. And the taste, oh my god it resemble so many traditional Mexican dishes in a new concept and a new flavor. The waiters were very attentive so much that sometimes I didn’t even realized my cup of water was already empty but they notice it and refill it. The waiting period between each course is just not enough to take a break and reflect on the flavors experienced. Also some foods are supposed to be eaten by hand so don’t worry about getting your hands dirty and at the end of the course they bring you a warm wet towel to clean your hands (loved the service). Summary: I highly suggest this place to eat it’s worth the money in every sense.

Visited Pujol in the heart of Polanco, opened in 2000 by Chef Enrique Olvera. Centrally located on a side street, the restaurant is noticeably dark upon entering. The ambience is clean and minimalist, but unfortunately, the tables are too dark; a flashlight is necessary to read the drink menu and inspect your plate. Seating is close together, lacking privacy for a quiet or romantic dinner. Despite my experience in many fine dining establishments, Pujol disappoints with a lack of flavor delivery and unnecessary fluff. However, the exceptional service from the staff is a notable plus. Considering the high price, the overall experience falls short and isn't worth it.

4 dishes were excellent, and the ceviche was unbelievable. The mole was interesting but could have done with a bit more of a story behind it. Dessert was meh. Good experience but not sure it was worth the price.

😐 This place is huge, and there's always a waiting line to get in, the menu is small and straighforward, but it's totally worth eating there... I would just say there are too many tables per room, and sometimes the waiters are less than attentive becsuse of the amount of customers... still worth it.
