Pros: 1. Nice atmosphere and good presentation Cons: 1. Very average foods. The shrimps I got (450 pesos) tastes like Walmart frozen fried foods. 2. Deceptive waiter. I ordered one tuna appetizer (80) but it came with three (240). I told the waiter they got my order wrong. My waiter brought another waiter who speaks better English telling me that one appetizer is costing more than three. I told him I checked the menu and it’s not true. He later took the dish away and gave me the correct order. I never got an explanation or apology. I’m willing to pay for three but not by being lied to. Did not expect to be lied to at a restaurant at this price point.

Honestly it was just ok. It was more about the presentation and the atmosphere that makes it nice. But the food wasn't great. The ant eggs had too much butter and was too rich. The duck parcels were nice but that's about it. The grasshopper we didn't really enjoy. The guacamole was smooth but was a little too rich as well. Honestly it came out to 1700 pesos/100 dollars for two people. Definitely better places to eat

Incredible experience, the restaurant is in the middle of historical neighbourhood, but a little heaven, no more noise it’s is not warm, you enter a beautiful place with amazing flavours. The food is exceptional! Cocktails are also amazing! This is a must try restaurant

A super experience!! We started with the delicious Tortilla soups and a Venison dish. Both were delicious. Ended up having some mole and cochinita tacos. All of them had amazing flavours. The service was amazing, one of the best restaurants I have eaten in Mexico City!!!

Stopped here for dinner. Host was friendly & there is a different restaurant right across the host table that has a bar you can wait at. Our wait staff was really rushed at all times & was not helpful at all with any questions we had on menu. They were “yes men”. No matter what you asked, they’d say “yes that is good” but weren’t truly helpful with questions about menu. My dinner “entree” was more of a blank appetizer plate. Left the place still hungry. 1 thing that was actually good was the tortilla soup.

Mezcal was amazing and they had a lot of options, Guacamole was phenomenal and Chicken Tortilla Soup was something that I had never had before. Its was a great combination or foods. We also liked the Traditional Hot Chocolate and Tres Leches cake. It’s was a good evening with some of the best food we have had.

Folks complain of small portion entree, but after eating appetizer, soup and then entree, we were stuffed. This place is Amazing and the food was delicious. Nice dinner for two with adult beverages was under $100. Definitely recommend.

Not good service, food so so We had guacamole which didn't have any avocado flavor then bean tamale, this one was very good. For entree we got the fish in annatto and it was dry and needed more salt. Then we got the mole which was sweet and okay. For drinks we got carajillo, lime water and pinole water which was the best of all the food. Service took forever to take our order and bring the check. Sometimes it felt like there were no waiters available. Our waiting time was 40 minutes on the December holiday season at 4pm. I think there are better restaurants that worth the wait, time and money. Just come here if you really, REALLY want to try it.

Would not recommend. Service was extremely slow - to order drinks and food and wait times for both. Also, there were SO many wait staff but they stood talking together.. rather than checking on us or asking if wanted more drinks etc. Food was tasty enough but not worth the price... you would find tastier options down the road for a tenth of the price. Overall it was way overpriced. Essentially this resturant presents as fine dining (waiters outfits, prices, presentation of food) but it is in the middle of a shopping mall (I was staring at MAC the whole time).. so it does not warrant the price. Decor is over the top and kitschy in my opinion but maybe its traditional?

Impeccable service. Food is excellent - I had the guacamole with grasshopper and a Chile en Nagano (seasonal item - Chile stuffed with fruit, nuts, and meat and doused in amazing sauce). Ladies are right behind me making fresh corn tortillas. Restaurant is open air but under the shade of trees… was fairly empty when I arrived at 2pm and not even 45 minutes later, it’s full with a wait. Definitely stumbled into an superb place for my first meal in CDMX.

One of the best restaurant experiences of my life! The door is a little hard to find; your patience will be rewarded. The restaurant is in a beautiful courtyard (surrounded by retails shops) with tall trees for shade. One of the servers told me there is an awning in case of rain. I was delighted to see a vegan version of chiles en nogada*. Once ordered, a theatrical experience began...my table was reset with a black cloth and gold flatware. A different server brought me a large stuffed chile, decorated with two patriotic ribbons. Another server brought the topping (nogada) sauce and still another server brought the pomegranate and parsley garnish. The mild chile was stuffed with the most delicate fruit compote: apples, pears, peaches, green olives, raisins, capers, almonds, pine nuts. The servers were very professional and accommodating. Liquid dessert: some authentic hot chocolate. My server cautioned me that this is prepared in the pre-Columbian way, with water (not milk). It was prepared tableside and tasted complex. All in all, a perfect dining experience!! * I think this is a seasonal offering in Aug/Sept to mark Mex Independence Day.

Traditional Mexican cuisine can be enjoyed at this originally decorated restaurant. Chiles en Nogada, Manchamantel, Tacos de Lechón, Buñuelos de Pato, Enchiladas con Mole, and many other specialties. However, the service was rude and we felt they were hurrying us throughout the whole experience. In our opinion, there are nicer places to have these culinary choices and be better treated.

Azul Histórico was a great selection to dine in on our recent visit to CDMX. It is located in the historic center, which gives it a very unique vibe. To see the tortillas freshly handmade was very interesting! The service was great, from the host, who accommodated an extra person at a last minute request, to our waiter. The food was delicious! The tortilla soup is a must! Make sure to include this restaurant in your next visit!

Cool spot to try traditional Mexican food near Zocalo, however it did feel a little like a tourist trap. Food was good and fresh (they make the tortillas on the spot), drinks were good (lychee martini 10/10), service was okay. A bit overhyped, but not bad.

(Translated by Google) Food is good, nothing outstanding. The stellar presentation of the tortilla soup is meticulous, but, for example, on my visit, they didn't put cheese or sliced dried chili on it. 3 drinks, 2 soups, 2 stews plus tip, $ 2000. In addition, having a reservation (20:30), they did not bother to advise that they would close before (21:30), then at 9:15 p.m., running from the place picking up tables, services and others. The place is indeed very beautiful, but without contributing more. The waiter service is attentive and seems prompt, when they remember that they have your table in charge. The truth, the price, is much more expensive than the real value of that food.

Food was delicious to be honest. The one only and major downside is that unless you have some kind eating disorder such as Bulimia, or come from a place with a scarcity in food - the amount of food won't be enough fill a 3 year old child. Literally I went to the hotel room to have a snack right after I left. Ah, also... Service was slow.

We only stopped for coffee but the service was very friendly, polite, efficient and accommodating. They even provide you the special bags to put your masks away. Yes, we heard the talks that the quality of food dropped somewhat in the recent years, but one has absolutely to visit the place due to its enchanting interior, the fairy-tale like courtyard roof made of tree branches and beautiful mural by Manuel Rodríguez Lozano (at the stairwell leading to the second floor). The same address, Isabel La Católica 30, is a home to Downtown Mexico hotel. Somehow it is a member of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World, even though it is only 3 stars with the most expensive room offered at below $100 per night. We would guess that it is a good sign announcing a future revitalization of Mexico City Downtown, by and large neglected and not that well maintained.

The setting of Azul Historico is stunning. Set in a old colonial courtyard with natural lighting and decorated trees it’s a beautiful place to eat a meal. It’s clean, service is fast, prices are acceptable and the food tastes great. I’d recommended it to anyone visiting Centro.

Service outstanding! Great location in the middle of Centro Histórico. Beautiful decoration. We went for lunch and ordered the classic guacamole, a tamale and the duck in a sweet mole. I was disappointed with the guacamole. It was very liquid, like it was passed for a blender. The tamale was okay and the duck was good. The tortillas were amazing. I am giving it 4 stars because a restaurant like this should be consistent in everything. Anyway, it was a good experience to be my first time in there.

Great location near the Zocalo. The restaurant itself is in the courtyard and scenically placed under trees. It’s beautiful in the daytime and just as nice after dark. The food here is authentic and very tasty, the menu isn’t huge but they execute well on what they do offer. Service was also excellent. This place is definitely a must visit if you’re in the area.

The ambiance of the restaurant was truly captivating, and both the service and presentation were impressive. While I had high hopes for the food experience, some dishes didn't quite hit the mark for me. The soup stood out as a highlight, tasting wonderful. The guacamole was decent, but the main course, Chiles en Nogada, leaned towards the sweet side, which wasn't to my preference. I would have loved to sample more from their extensive menu, but being solo on this visit, I was somewhat limited in my choices.

We were fortunate to get on the waiting list and get a table within a hour. The drinks were amazing and tasted very good. Our appetizer was the cochinita pubil and also very good. My wife had the poblano enchiladas and I had the Black Mole. Both dishes had a nice presentation and tasted very good. For desert I had the hot chocolate, which the waiter served table side

Dining here is an expensive but pleasurable option if you are looking for a meal with ambience and formal service. The menu has many Mexican classics and they have a cocktail menu to match. I really enjoyed the tortilla soup - served in an a fancy bowl with a golden spoon, it was a delicious meal! It is a popular restaurant for tourists and also locals celebrating special occasions, so be prepared to book in advance or wait for a table. The staff speak Spanish and English, and there are bilingual menus as well. No problems paying with credits cards. When I visited, the courtyard was decorated with a myriad of red fairy lights, which gave an incredible ambience to the meal. Definitely made for some amazing pictures. I wouldn’t say it is the most authentic Mexican dining experience, you can definitely get tastier food from places much cheaper, but you’re paying for the experience. I’d recommend you visit here if you’re in Mexico City, even if you just stop by to see the courtyard and take some pictures without eating. Fantastic Oaxacan moles served in a magical courtyard in the Centro Histórico. Great beverage list as well. Tables are a bit crammed in but service is still flawless. Definitely go early or make a reservation - the wait later in the day for lunch (especially on Saturdays) can be brutal. Do not skip deserts - possibly the highlight of a rather extraordinary meal.

E v e r y t h i n g. Everything was good. The chef must be very proud, but I guess not because it feels like he will try yet harder; like never enough. Just one detail, nice way to serve mezcal... but even being careful... it ended all over the table. Coffee could also do better. I'm an espresso obsessed.

This restaurant is beautiful. It's right in the heart of the city center and is a short walk from the Zocalo. The prices are expensive relative to most Mexican dining but is.comparable to other fine dining establishments in the city. I would recommend getting anything with the black mole sauce - that's their specialty and it is absolutely delicious. The other dishes are good but nothing beats their mole sauce.

Waited roughly 2 hours to be seated (we left and walked around and came back so not really waited seating down there) but it was worth it. The food is next level. They had mango as their ingredient of the month so we had a mango guacamole that was delicious. Their sangria is one of the best I've had. And all their dishes we tried were delicious and well executed. I need to find a way to replicate that sangria recipe!! Ambient was super nice, very friendly staff and overall a great restaurant in the heart of Mexico City. Can't wait to be back!!

Very disappointing. Although the staff was quite friendly in the beginning, we were more than disappointed. Food came very fast (most likely directly from the microwave) and was absolutely not tasty. I really don’t know why there are so many good reviews here. For me it was a typical tourist trap (very expensive and not good). Since we were not so happy about the food, we decided to tip „just“ 5% which upset our waiter. He got very unfriendly, almost rude and did not even say good bye. A really bad experience. Mexico City has so much good food for much less $ and much friendlier staff to offer. I hardly recommend not to go there!!!

First time in Mexico City and stumbled upon this restaurant because my husband and I were staying at a hotel in the area. The ambiance of this restaurant is cozy and romantic. I loved how the trees and candles warmed up the dining area. My husband and I had the auténtico salpicón de venado (venison) for the appetizer and manchamanteles with roast duck and filet con salsa de chipotle. For dessert, we had the tamalito de chocolate and the soursop mousse. Everything was delicious. We had a bottle of wine (Bordeaux) and the bill came out to be $130 USD with tip which is quite reasonable. I had the best duck I’ve ever tasted. I would definitely recommend getting the duck! Our server, Juan Campos was very nice and attentive. I’d definitely go back here.

If only the lighting was white instead of red, it would make Azul Historico look a tad bit more upscale and less intense :) the mole was fantastic, we had it ok top of the empanadas! Lovely setting, terrific service, and generally excellent food. The yucateco seasonal fish special was superb, as was the mole. Seasonal smoked tuna tacos also interesting. Tacos de lechón a little too salty and ceviche special a tad too tart. Mango margarita with coconut cream sprinkled with coffee beans is a winner!

I have been to this place several times and the quality is always great. I love the ambience, the food, and the location. I’ve tried the festival menu as well as the classic one. The online menu is a bit clunky with all the english menu to be in one place. Only complaint is sometimes they have more junior people as servers who are not well trained. This last time we had a really young and impatient and non attentive server. For some reason he was switched with Carlos, an amazing server that i have had the pleasure of knowing him through a few times of visit. Will definitely suggest this location over the one in condesa for visitors. But both are equally great.

They have many Mexican classic dishes and the presentations of them are beautiful. Service is great and the place is also nice to be at, but be mindful that it’s an expensive place, you could have the same mole for half the price somewhere else.
