OMG! What a wonderful culinary experience! The food was AWESOME FANTASTIC DELICIOUS!!!!! The service outstanding. We had 3 waiters instantly addressing our smallest requests. I can't decide on a single "best thing". We had shrimp ceviche with mango, cod fish mini sandwiches, salmon in mango sauce, carnitas and cajeta crepes with vanilla ice cream. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. 👌

Service was attentive and impeccable - the house hot chocolate is a real winner, though make sure you squeeze a bit more value. The dishes are really nice, and their vast menu allows for all patrons to find a desirable and authentic meal. Spice levels are low by default, so liberal use of the pickled onions is recommended.

Highlights are the hot chocolate, breakfast dishes and seasonal. **They have a detailed menu in English** I give it four stars because there is no option to book in advance and that is a big miss since so many big groups tend to come here and have to wait. Also for any size party give yourself 30min for waiting as it's usually pretty full. Anyway the food is served quite fast and it tastes great so I always pay a visit when in town.

When early so it was super easy to get a table. Though we did get put into the overflow room but that's okay. Hot chocolate was great! Was told it was free refills before going but I never got a refill. My partner got the coffee and they proactively refilled his without asking so I'm not sure if it was unlimited refills. Come prepared and have a little pancito before coming to tide you over. The Diego Rivera mural in the main dining area is stunning, make sure you get a good look at it. And the food is why we are really here- everything was great and very reasonably priced. Service was impeccable.

This place was highly recommended and omg it was delicious. The service was just great, never overbearing us or left us unattended. It was just perfect. We had breakfast at the cardenal. My order was an egg white omelet with goat cheese and green chili. It was creamy, spicy and so tasty. Very good. I also had some sweet bread and black americano. I would go back to el cardenal over and over again. It’s that good :)

Hard to find - it’s located in the Hilton hotel. This place came highly recommended by a friend who knew CDMX very well so I was excited to try it. We arrived around 11:30am on a Saturday morning and there was a huge lineup. Good sign. We were told the wait would be 35 minutes but we only waited 25! We waited in Hilton lobby and used the outlets to charge our phones. The famous hot chocolate was a little overrated because I found it more milky than chocolate-y (I think that’s because the chocolate is bittersweet). They brought fresh bread for us while we waited for our food. We ordered the omelette with zucchini flowers and mushrooms. Incredible dish! Unique, flavorful and the corn cake with cream was the perfect starch to end this fish on. The lamb marinated with hot sauce maguey leaves was outstanding. It had incredible flavor and the additions of cactus leaves and guacamole was perfect to roll into little tortillas. When we ran out, they asked if we wanted more tortillas. The service was absolutely outstanding. I cannot wait to come back. Fantastic value and great place to try unique Mexican dishes.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Mexico City. But you have to be willing to wait or be there really early. If you arrive after 9:30am be prepared to wait a long time. Hot chocolate is absolutely delicious, and you should definitely try at least one of the fresh made bread. Must go to this place for breakfast. Absolutely must. We ended up coming here three times during our four day trip. Get the hot chocolate to start. Then order anything with the special green sauce (I'd recommend the Tierra caliente - you can add any meat if you'd like). Finish up with any of their delicious fresh baked pastries. And if you're really in gluttonous mood, then ask for the nata to accompany the pastries (nata is straight up milk fat). This place is also terrific for lunch. They will start you off with this green salsa with avocado and cheese and some corn tortillas. Then get any of the tacos (mushroom, shrimp, Lamb). You will not be disappointed.
