One of the best restaurant experiences of my life. The chef and staff were exceptional, knowledgeable, and warm. The food journey was a beautifully composed narrative that was inventive and playful while referencing a variety of local food regions. One of the best wine/beer pairings I’ve enjoyed. I will be back—thank you! Also WONDERFUL about my food allergy!

One of the best meals I’ve had anywhere! Flawless experience from start to finish. Service is incredible. So polished and professional. The dining room is beautiful and comfortable. The food is off the charts! Just so good. Worth every peso!

An amazing, amazing experience. We were seated in a kitchen experience, watching the chefs work was just amazing. For such an intricate and complex meal the chefs worked so smoothly and were not rushed anywhere, it was a well oiled machine. We did the tasting menu, 1 vegetarian and 1 normal. It was surprising that the veg and non veg meals were SO different. It almost felt as we were at two different restaurants because the flavor profiles were so different. That being said, the food was quite amazing and delicious, 10 courses and just hitting all my taste buds in different ways. I will say the service seemed a little "fast". The downtime in between courses was surprisingly quick. Talking about service I felt like the attention to detail was lacking. When they put down different utensils for us they were often misaligned and haphazardly placed. The servers were very nice but didn't really spend much time building a relationship with us to enhance the experience. I think this was the difference between a 5 and 4 star. For such an expensive meal there should have been a little more attention to detail.

Amazing experience and delicious food! We came for the 10 course tasting and was not disappointed! Actually it was so good we came back the next day to try the rest of the menu à la carte. We came due to it being one of the top 50 best restaurants in the world (along with another restaurant near by) and we definitely like the food here better after trying both places!

We secured a reservation after a number of recommendations. Excited to try out the menu, we went with the full course tasting menu. The restaurant was nice and vibrant, and the staff was incredible courteous and lovely. Now onto the food — while we appreciated the diverse menu, outside of a couple of dishes (the green mole with chips and the ox tacos), the rest of the menu was fairly bland and very lackluster. After spending $400USD, we felt like there was a lot more to be desired, and felt like Pujol was a much better bang for the buck.

This place was really good and my favorite in Mexico City. I liked this much better than Pujol. The flavors were really good here and the service was great too. It was cool to sit at the bar but I wish the step on the bar wasn’t there so that I could actually see the kitchen at work but that was my only complaint on the scenery. On the food, I do wish there was one more dessert course but aside from that this place is a must try

What a stunning experience. We went for an à la cart lunch since we were going to Pujol for dinner and this place totally impressed us. From the quality of the ingredients to the service. Everything was absolutely impeccable. I hope to come back for the tasting menu one day. Totally deserves to be part of the top 50 restaurants in the world.

A 5-star dining experience. A full 3 hours of culinary delight. The staff is so friendly and attentive. Each dish of the tasting menu was explained well and the flavors are combinations you likely won't get anywhere else. The cocktails are also quite nice. I was surprised that the lighting in here was not dimmer but appreciated that I could really see each dish since there were such thorough explanations. While this meal was more expensive than I anticipated (over $200 per person before beverages), I did find the experience and food to be worth it. Special occasion only for sure but nonetheless no regrets.

It is a fine dining place with a tasting menu. The gastronomical experience was spread over nine courses and the desserts service. The food quantity was good however some of the courses could have been better. The service was impeccable and the server explained each course well. Since I am not a big fan of oxtail, the kitchen changed the course to lamb and chicken. Even though the dish was not the best, I appreciated the willingness of the chef to make the last minute change for me. The desserts were nice. Overall, a one time visit restaurant for the experience. I will not come back again.

Out of all the fine dining and michelin started experiences I've had, this one is at the top as the most memorable and delectable experience, and will absolutely be coming back in due time. My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and enjoyed a 3-hour, 11 course meal of their winter tasting menu. We were seated right in front of their kitchen with a view of all the chefs in action as they meticulously prepared each dish. The l pacing of the dishes was perfect, and each dish was unique in terms of flavor and presentation. There was a bit of repetitiveness with some dishes having similar proteins being used, but it was still prepared in different ways. The quantities were also plentiful, and I can safely say you will not leave here hungry. In fact, it was a struggle to get through the last dessert dish! Towards the end of the meal we were surprised with a bonus dessert course as a token of our anniversary celebration, and upon leaving were each given a sweet pastry / bun to enjoy on our own time. Overall, everything was on point for our experience - from the food, to the ambiance (loved one of the wall art pieces and are currently looking to acquire one of our own!), and the care each FOH and BOH staff provided us. Chef Jorge, you have something wonderful here and hope you have continued success with Quintonil.

The best experience, for both food, and service, in my life. I'll let their food photos do the talking. The description is the final photo. Every aspect of the meal was perfect. The sauces were out of dreams. The desserts, heavenly. I love the combination of traditional ingredients perfectly matched with more modern techniques. A must if you visit Mexico City.

I really wanted to love this place, though was left pretty disappointed. The flavor and quality of the food doesn’t keep up with the quality of the service, nor prices. We did the tasting menu for lunch, with a bottle of white wine. The last two desserts were very special, but everything else was ‘whatever’ and lacked flavor compared to your average restaurant in Mexico City. For USD $250 / person including a bottle of wine, every dish should be superb, not just the last two desserts. Service was great.

I did enjoy all the dishes, they are flavoursome and had unique ingredients. The amount of food is very generous. The stand out for me was the Soup, the oxtail and the dessert dishes including the palate cleanser. Staff were nice and attentive. They were very kind to offer us a note and a yummy cream caramel for our anniversary dinner.

Delicious food for the adventurous. The duck tamal was the best dish of the night, but everything was very tasty and unique. Be prepared for flying ants, grasshoppers and stink bugs.

A phenomenal restaurant!! Having been seated for a kitchen experience was a spectacular way to partake in Quintonil’s kitchen view of the staff as they expertly prepared each dish. It grasps how the chef Jorge Vallejo meticulous attention to the freshest and finest ingredients that would go into each dish creation. We booked our table two months in advance and Andrea from the front desk, who was super helpful in changing our time slot to a more convenient time. Our Waiter Manuel was stunning with his culinary knowledge and awareness of each plate served to us. In conclusion, This whole experience made my special day even more memorable.

Perhaps because my expectations were high, I’d probably lean more 3.5 stars than a full 4. Don’t get me wrong, the creations are unique and for the most part, delicious…I just didn’t get a wow factor. The service and attention to detail is on par. Cocktails are decent. Definitely give it a try but in my opinion, no need to go out of your way.

It is without question why Quintonil is ranked #8 in Latin America's Best Restaurants list. My husband and I selected the tasting menu with pairing and we were so glad that we did. It was an incredible culinary experience with an eclectic variety of Mexican cuisine. We celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary with Quintonil and they ensured that we felt the love. Thanks for the great experience! We highly recommend Quintonil for a special dinner and experience. Tip- If you are planning to visit Polanco, try to book a reservation in advance. Monday and the weekends are the busiest days, meaning less cancelations, if you are planning to join the wait list.

Easy to understand why this is one of the top 50 restaurants in Latin America. From the minute you walk through the door you realize you are in for an experience. The dishes were exquisite and unique to Quintonil and their chef. This is definitely a "bucket list" restaurant for foodies. Make that reservation and enjoy!

Incredible. The service and front of the house staff was amazing. Thank you guys. But by God the food was nothing short of amazing. I would have hugged the chef(s) for their craft. It's hard to even describe how complex some of the dishes were. From the nopal salad opener to the Mole with vegetables, the flavor, texture, balance, and presentation were perfect. The Mole in particular was off the charts, and for the first time made me involuntary close my eyes in pure bliss while I savored the first and second bite. I may have let out a sigh. If you can make it here, do it.

Really fun tasting menu experience. Very friendly, attentive and accommodating staff. Tons of different flavors and interesting incorporation of insects and bugs. Definitely recommend. Only suggestion would be to tone down the interior lighting.

Some of the dishes were delicious and other ones I didn’t like as much. My favorites were the starters, the chicken, and the dessert. The duck and the make your own taco (minus the chip) was pretty disappointing to me. I wouldn’t come again but it was overall worth the experience.

Worthy of the two Michelin stars! Dined February 2024. Difficult reservation is totally worth the trip. The insect dish is truly unique (charred avacado with ant larvae). Let's call it the Entomophagy Festival if you can stomach the Mexican delicacy, a signature of Quintonil. The best seat in the house is clearly the kitchen counter experience which gives a full view of the action and intense attention to detail. There is a heavy use of flowers as garnish. At the end of the meal, a commemorative menu with your exact serving time of each dish is presented. A cherished souvenir for a once in a lifetime experience.

Elevated fine Mexican cuisine that beautifully highlights the riches of Mexico. Locally sourced herbs, honey, insects, tequila & much more; all artistically celebrated with each course. The service was superb, intimate & incredibly personable for my birthday dinner. Thank you Quintonil for the birthday chocolates delivered to my hotel. With food & service so excellent, I see Michelin stars 🌟 in your future! Cheers!

We we're lucky enough to gather three generations of our family for a family tasting meal at Quintonil. Every single person enjoyed every course of their meal. We also had a tremendous education in the indigenous flora and fauna that was exquisitely combined to make some of the best plates of food we have ever tasted. All, from the connosieur foodies to our 7-year old granddaughter were truly impressed and enraptured for the entire three-hour experience. Our head waiter, Alan, was not only a perfectly balanced bilingual but, also able to explain and adapt each phase of the meal for every age and experience. Can't recommend highly enough.

In one word: transcendent. As a foodie, I've tried delicious food from all walks of life. When I tasted the dish "Milpa Alta" I said, out loud, "food should not be allowed to taste this good." As amazing and beautiful as the food was, I was overcome with the realization that some people will go their whole lives not knowing how good food can be. Don't be part of this group. Go to Quintonil and experience food that is better than what you thought possible.

Food and service is impeccable, as you can read in any of the reviews. What stood out for our group, was them getting us a table. We showed up two hours late for our reservation, which was my fault. I read the email wrong. We were a group of 4 that showed up 30 minutes before lunch was finished. They were able to divide our group, and then get us a table of four after roughly 10 minutes. I was so mad at myself that I wanted to scream/cry/go play in traffic. They took care of us though. It was an amazing experience.

Took us two visits to Mexico City to even be able to book a table, and it's been on our list! Quintonil takes reservations 60 days in advance, and we actually set reminders in our calendars to start trying to book sixty days before our visit. It was worth the wait. 10-course tasting menu was available in both a vegetarian and non-veg option, and we ordered one of each. Courses were very comparable for both options. The food was stellar. Each dish is based on traditional dishes from all over Mexico, and they'be elevated each one to almost mythic status, with inventive interpretations, delightful ingredients, and stunning presentation.

The room feels dated, if you’re sitting at one of the side two tops there is a bright light that shines directly on the table making you feel like you’re being interrogated. The service is overly fussy, I don’t need to see a diorama of the ants I’m eating. The food has taken a turn for worse. The fall menu felt uninspired and flat, while at the same time it left me feeling heavy and bloated. I finished one dish in its entirety, one of the early ones with uni and foam. Sadly I was anxious to leave shortly after the service had started. Add to that a bill that came to over $400 US for 2 of us. Really nothing I can recommend here. Please get it together quintonil, eating here feels like a rip-off.

The service was amazing, no question about it. And also the presentation was really good. However the food was terrible. Just didn't taste good. Out of a 10 course meal, we only liked one of them and we were a group of 8. I sent back 3 of their courses, because I just couldn't eat them and I'm not that peaky when it comes to eating. It wasn't anything special as advertised. Wasted 4 hours of our time and money. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it :(

  • 5/5 Ryan H. 4 years ago on Google
Lives up to the hype. Had the tasting menu and while I really enjoyed the first courses, the true winner will as the molé and the dessert(s) that followed. I am not really a dessert person and I was entirely blown away by the 'fiesta' (their term) portion of the meal. Chocolate tamale, hot chocolate, chocolate gelato with cocoa nibs, 2 other dishes, and finished up with 3 truffles. It sounds like a LOT, and it is, but its entirely fantastic. Wonderful service, just wish the space was a bit more open. Sidenote: if you're tall beware, there are a couple spots you can hit your head in the main room.

Amazing experience in Polanco. I am glad I have tried this place. Mexican cuisine gets re-interpreted in a magnificent way. All the ingredients are seasonal and fresh. I choose a la carte because the tasting menu was too much for lunch. Between courses they take you some little extra tastings such as a cactus salad. I had an appetizer, a main course and the dessert tasting plate and it was a lot of food. Contrary to what many people think of these places I came out of there extremely full and satisfied. The staff was immensely friendly and polite. I told them i was visiting Mexico they even gave me suggestions where to go next or where to eat in the city. Reservation online worked just fine, make sure you book it in advance. This is not one of those places you show up last minute and they have a table for you. Next time I’ll try the tasting menu!

Every plate from the tasting menu was introduced properly and Chef Jorge greeted us and we had a nice talk. It was a good experience and it could be greater if our reservation was noted accordingly. Our reservation change was confirmed by call at 2pm and when we arrived 730 we were told by Ana that ONLY email confirmation could be a formal one. I mean, how could we know about your regulation?

(Translated by Google) After a long quarantine, more than 3 months without going to a restaurant, it seems surreal to visit Quintonil, one of the two best restaurants in Mexico. According to chef Jorge Valllejo, who was able to chat with us a bit, the menu is new, reinvented. He also remodeled the place. About food, I can only tell you about the tasting and pairing menu, Uff, it is worth enjoying these delicacies, it is a life experience. There are 10 times of both, where the food and the wine selection come close to perfection. Something super important is that they are very attentive if you are allergic to any ingredient or something you do not eat from the menu, they change it if you ask in advance. The service of the waiters and someliers is impeccable. All very safe in these times of covid. Enjoy !! The food here is simply incredible. We felt that it was more consistent and overall better in terms of quality, flavour and presentation than our experience at Pujol, though that was also really excellent. The one area I'd suggest improvement on would be the ambiance. There are speakers, but no music when we were there, and the lights were quite bright. That said, the food is absolutely amazing and worth every penny, so if you're looking for a wonderful culinary adventure this is your spot. We'll certainly be back as soon as we can. Covid related - they had excellent protocols in place, which made us feel safe...but there's not a real outdoors area, so might not be something everyone is comfortable with for now. For us, it was a special occasion, and we felt it was worth it.

(Translated by Google) The Quintonil tasting menu is like a dream come true, it is a journey of flavors, textures and smells, well designed, with a progression in which you never feel that a dish is out of place with respect to the previous one. It is also fantastic that all dishes have a strong component of traditional Mexican cuisine, with traditional ingredients and ways of preparation. I have tried the menu with pairing and without it. The pairing experience improves substantially. Again there was a fantastic progression, starting with a craft beer, going through a great variety of white and red wines (if you are going to take the pairing do not drive later). They highlight the rare choices of Spanish whites and Italian reds, which work wonders with the accompanying dishes. The service is excellent, the waiters are friendly and attentive. The sommelier is extremely pleasant and has a great knowledge of wines. They all treated us wonderfully. It is worth the price to have a memorable experience.

It's rare for me to write a 2 star review but despite all our excitement our lunch at Quintonil was a big disappointment at our recent visit. There is no doubting the talent of the chef and kitchen and overall we have no major quibbles with the quality of the food itself - though it was something in line with something we might expect in a 1 michelin star establishment rather than purportedly one of the worlds finest restaurants. Everything looked and tasted just fine but there werent any moments of true joy or inspiration for us. The real disappointment was in the ambience and character of the restaurant. The lighting was beyond terrible. The furinishings lacklustre. The tables were placed far too close so we could hear all the conversations close to us making it difficult to really enjoy the meal or each others company. Unbelievably, the table decor was composed of fake plastic lemons. The cocktails we ordered were so bad they made us laugh. The chocolates we werent ablet to finish at the end of our meal were presented to us in a shabby styroform take out box you might find a roadside cafe. We have no qualms on spending decent money on terrific food but by the time our bill arrived we felt thoroughly cheated. In hindsight, we wished we'd left midway through the meal. What was meant to be one of the highlights of our trip to mexico felt more like an ordeal and we both breathed a mutual sigh of relief as we left the dark, oppressive dining room for the sunnier street outside. The kitchen no doubt has real flair and talent, but I get a sense of a badly run business cutting corners and providing a compalcent and mediocre service to its patrons. It is certainly no longer in any way comparable to Pujol or Central or Gaggan. Our advice: the food is pretty fautless, but the experience overall is so charmless that we'd give it a miss till the house gets its act together. We wish we hadnt gone.

I so want to give this place 5 stars, but I just can't. The food was impressive, but halfway through our meal, the chef came out to talk to a friend of his who had come into the restaurant. We noticed that the service slowed down substantially during this time. He continued chatting with his friend for the remainder of the meal. Go to Pujol instead!

I can't write enough words to pay justice for the experience I had here. To say that the food was great it's an understatement. Even though the ingredients themselves weren't "fancy" or foreign, the way the arrange everything was superb. Finding the way for a day to day ingredient to shine in a different altitude was amazing. The service is on point and although a bit pricey I will say is definitely worth trying.

This was our second time there. We try to get a reservation every time we travel to CDMX. NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE TO GET IN. As always the food was delicious, the sauce on my fish a little salty for my taste. We made a reservation almost two Months ahead and were told they were putting us on a waiting list. Never heard from them. I called that day and was told we were given the 6:30pm table we had requested. I am not sure if this was an oversight on their part and forgot to contact us to confirm, or by a miracle the table was given to us. I prefer their lunch time as it’s quieter. We were raising our voices to speak to each other because it gets pretty loud with other’s conversations. The service and the food are always excellent.

The food here is no better than other restaurants we have eaten at in Mexico City at half the price. Compared to tasting menus we have had at top restaurants in New York where you also have to book a month in advance the portions were tiny. Someone in our party ordered ala carts and her entree was a bowl of mole sauce with a few mushrooms scattered on the side and ONE piece of bread (see photo). Would it have been so hard to give her multiple pieces to use with the sauce. When asked for a second piece of bread we got attitude. Theservice was really terrible - we waited 10-20 minutes between finishing one course and getting the. next. It was so bad I started timing the intervals. At various points they came and put down plates and then removed them without serving us anything. Our waiter would approach our table and see us sitting and waiting... a guilty look would pass over his face and then he would turn around and say nothing. The tables around us also seemed to be waiting and bored. If the kitchen was having issues they should have at least offered us free water or a drink or something. The tiny entree that was all sauce was really a total rip off

(Translated by Google) Very good food but in total it is not Michelin quality. My husband and I have gone to several restaurants and Quintonil's food seemed on par, but not only do you pay for that, but for the experience. The chef's friend arrived and the chef went out to talk with him, which ruined the flow of our food. Everything became very slow. They lack a lot of experience and professionalism yet. Not recommended, I better stay with Pujol, where this would not happen.

I cannot recommend Eat Like a Local Mexico City highly enough. We ended up being the only people on this morning's tour, and it was so amazing to get the behind the scenes view of Jamaica and Merced Markets and so many places along the way. We spent 4.5 hours moving from neighborhood to neighborhood and eating the whole way. I, honestly, didn't take very many pictures because my hands were normally full of food, all of which was included, along with drinks, including alcohol. We're going to head back to Jamaica market on a different day to grab pictures there, as well as flowers for our stay. I'm so full, y'all.

I went on both the Mexican Food 101 and Street Food at Night Tour. This company has a great philosophy of - small groups - great relationships with vendors - social responsibility (they teach English to children and vendors) - sustainable tourism - pride in Mexico City and showcasing the best of the best - really caring about their customers (they wanted me to check in with them when I arrived to my next destination in Mexico) And most importantly, the guides have a real passion for food! All the stops on both tours were delicious, varied and interesting. The tour is great to do if you have a short time in Mexico City and want to try as many dishes as possible! So come hungry!!!

This was the highlight of our trip to Mexico City. We did the 101 tour with Rocio. She's a great guide: knowledgeable, funny, engaging, flexible and down to earth. The food was amazing! We ate our way to the market and all the way back. Take the advice to arrive with an empty stomach very seriously. Highly, highly recommend.

Greatest Experience! Had such a fun and memorable day with Sarah and all the kids from the market! Ate so much delicious food and saw lot's of the city. Book this tour.

My wife & I loved this experience. We did the market tour on our first full day in Mexico City and it was the perfect introduction to the city, it's people and it's food. It was also a good intro to the Metro system as we used it to move around the city during the tour. Because of this we continued using the Metro to get around for the rest of our stay. The Mexico City Metro is amazing! Almost all of the food that we tried was a first for us. Being introduced to so much new food was a dream for me. From street tacos, to fancy fruits, to market sandwiches and soups, to candies and so much more, all of the food was delicious and plentiful! It is no joke when they warn you not to eat breakfast before this tour! I started the tour starving and finished it soo full! The small group size was great and the four of us plus our guide quickly felt like friends touring around the city. Our guide, Rocio, was the best. It is obvious she has a great relationship with all of the food vendors. They were all happy to see us and treated us great. She also did a great job explaining everything and keeping the tour moving at a good pace without ever feeling rushed. Her helper, Arely, was great as well. She took us around to some of the vendors in one of the markets as part of a program to give young people experience speaking English. It is just one of the many ways Eat Like a Local gives back to the community. Arely was lots of fun and her English was very good! Overall, as someone who doesn't enjoy a lot of standard tours, this one was perfect. It was very casual and fun and I still felt like I had learned a lot while still feeling like authentic experience. It was the perfect way to start a visit to CDMX and I highly recommend it to everyone!

We had so much fun learning so many things about the food scene in Mexico City. Our guide, Rocio was amazing and personable and took care of all our needs (like allergies). The food stalls she took us to were nothing we could have discovered on our own, from rotisserie chicken tacos to flor de calabaza quesadillas, and we went around in markets with knowledgeable people getting all our questions answered about food. Can't miss!

This was hands-down the best tour of any kind I’ve ever been on. Equally delicious and educational, led by a super-organized tour guide (thank you, Astrid). We got amazing street food that we would never have dared to experience on our own, and a tour thru two huge and amazing Mercados where we would have quickly gotten lost without such a knowledgeable guide. Note: I am a vegetarian and our guide, Astrid, took great care of me. Oh, and an introduction to the Mexico City Metro. We were always confident in our safety, being in such good hands. And Eat Local does amazing work in these Mercado communities with children who need a helping hand. Fabulous all the way around.

We had a wonderful experience. My boyfriend, a friend and I told The a.m. tour and we loved going to Jamaica and Merced market, try really well selected food, sipping souvenirs at the market, and also get to try a couple of nice restaurants. The guide was super cool and always looking out for us, her conversation was engaging, and she was always flexible for us to take our time when we needed it. Highly recommended :D

Awesome food tour! I’ve been on three or four food tours at this point in my life, and this was by far the best. My partner and I did the Mexican Food 101 tour—it’s capped at six people I believe, but it turned out to just be us. Rocio took us to two big markets (Merced was dizzyingly huge) and a restaurant as well as assorted sidewalk stands and stalls. She was very flexible and often invited us to express preferences about which places to try—one only has one stomach to give to such experiences, unfortunately. All the food was scrumptious, so I really can’t pick a favorite. But as a fruit and veggie lover, I’d say one highlight was sampling fruits I’d never seen or heard of before at one of the markets. And the roasted chicken taco… and the fish taco… and the tamale…and…. You get the picture. I definitely recommend this, and if you’re new to Mexico City, do it at the start of your trip—you’ll learn what to eat for the rest of your visit, plus other helpful info ranging from Mexican history to how to navigate the subway.

I was gifted a Taco & Mezcal tasting tour and loved it. The food was excellent, the guide (Rocío) was great and the experience was one I won't soon forget. In fact, I liked it so much I booked a second tour for myself and the Ms. to share. That one was a tour of the markets, which was a totally different but equally impressive experience. Rocío, in particular, deserves mention; she's a foodie blogger with a deep knowledge of Mexico City and a clear love for what she does. Highly recommended.

If you're not a typical tour person don't worry. This is not your grandparent's food tour. Off the recommendation of a friend I booked the night tour with Rocio which was amazing so I ended up booking the market tour a few days later because I enjoyed the 1st one so much. I'm from NYC and I am curious by nature. I often grab my camera & stomach on a day off and jump in the subway to explore a neighborhood. If this sounds like you and you're adventurous book a tour with Rocio. You won't be eating at the St Regis but who wants to sit around with a bunch of uptight people anyway? You will venture to some off the beaten path neighborhoods to eat at local hole in the wall, family run food stalls or small restaurants. I guarantee you won't find better tasting tacos at most upscale places. You can mingle with the locals, practice some Spanish & stuff your face. If you are lucky one day you will meet her dog Matteo who is probably smarter than you. Be adventurous, eat some wonderful tacos, meet a super cool person who loves her job and is great at it. Book a tour! I'll be back with an empty stomach soon. Thank you Rocio for showing me around your beautiful city and getting me fat!

Wow what an experience! We were lucky to sit at the kitchen window and see all the hard work the chefs put into the food, it’s really such an art. I see why they’ve consistently been rated top 50 over the years. For the tea, they will bring you fresh bundles of herbs together to steep, that was incredible. The team here really cares to help you celebrate an occasion, for us it was our wedding anniversary.

What can I say - this place definitely lives up to its reputation. The entire dining experience was simply amazing, from the second you walk into the restaurant to the last spoon of your desert. Top-notch service from the staff and you will not be able to hold back your smile when you see each one of these dishes being presented so perfectly in front of you. Big respect.

Not a good experience. We fell ill. We got the tasting menu. Both the food one and the drinks one. Out of the 9 dishes, 6 were original, 1 was ok, 2 were not so great. The lamb and pork dishes were not good. They said that the lamb was slow cooked... It was dry and not tender. I wouldn't believe it was slow cooked. On the selection of dishes, those 2 that were not worthy of being in the menu threw the harmony off of the selection. When you are taken in a tasting journey, especially in these type of restaurants, you expect a story or a symphony in the experience they take you. These two dishes were way out of tune. The rest were nice and very creative. Kudos for that. But as a whole, did not get to me. Service was all right. Many waiters, but seemed in a rush. But what I must caution is that my partner and I fell ill. I was bloated and gassy after the dinner and my partner was nauseous during the next morning and basically emptied the dinner in the toilet. Really what disappointed us is how they reacted to us telling them the following day that we fell ill. They said they would investigate, and we never heard back. We called back the following day for the invoice that they had promised to send us and the person who answered seemed not to have heard anything about the incident. Arrogance, I would say. I will not be recommending this place. Perhaps because I was just unlucky. I understand and recognize that in any restaurant I can just be unlucky, but after a 500USD dinner, I would have expected them to take ownership of that and do something about it. Good luck.

To sum it up, great fine-dining experience. Exotic food, rare ingredients, delicious preparation and attractive plating. Great service, friendly and catering to your needs but without excessive fussing. Quintonil is located in the posh neighborhood of Polanco, number 24 among best restaurants worldwide and number 9 in Latin America's 50 best restaurants (per the classification of The World's 50 Best Restaurants). 10-course tasting menu by Chef Jorge Vallejo is offered at about $120 USD per person, excluding alcohol or non-alcoholic drinks. Nice, laid-back setting, lively but relaxing. Highly recommended.

While the restaurant looks humble, you will get a special experience. I had the tasting menu. Overall, they were good, but I didn't get the mind-blowing experience I have had at Michellin restaurants in different countries. The price is not cheap and I'd expect something more creative with fresh ingrients. It did affect my appetite when a lady constantly mopped the floor at the entrance. I'd try it out especially if you liked Mexican food. But, the tastes are not as amazing as what they looked.

Our experience was delightful. Making a reservation was easily done via email. We were seated on time. The staff spoke clear English which made our experience more enjoyable as they were able to explain details in depth to us. The chicken and oxtail were great. The chef takes pride in the presentation of each meal and the passion shows through his work.

Absolute perfection!! We tried the tasting menu in both vegetarian and non-veg version and they were both excellent. Pricey, sure, but worth every penny. I am going to specifically tell you about the vegetarian tasting menu. Consisting of 11 dishes, the sequence and quality of dishes kept building up like a good orchestrated concert. I found the mushrooms and mole to be just sublime and impossible to describe. I can only said that with every scoop, the food exploded in a combination of multiple flavors, layer after layer. Being a vegetarian, I can attest that it takes creativity and knowledge to take a veg dish to the next label and you will find it, hands down, at Quintonil. The atmosphere is rather approachable, service is impecable and the decor if full of arty Mexican craftsmanship. While the restaurant hasn’t been awarded a Michelin star, it’s surely deserves it. It was won though a number of other recognitions.

Absolutely Amazing!! We had a fantastic time! The food was incredible and the service was impeccable! Every dish was memorable making it hard to pick a favorite because they were all fantastic. If I had to pick one, I’d say it would be fish. My husband would say his was the the pork. However each dish was delicious. The service also needs some praising as it was excellent. They were on top of everything and were always available with a smile! We loved our time here so much that we asked to be put on the waitlist to return before we head back home. We genuinely didn’t want our experience to end. Excellent food, excellent service, excellent experience!!

My husband and I went to Quintonil on our most recent trip to CDMX. We did the tasting menu and my biggest complaint would be the lag time between courses. It took us 3 hours and 10 mins from start to finish, and we are pretty speedy eaters. The dishes were very polarizing, there were 3 I absolutely hated but loved the other 7. Make sure you tell them when you book if you’re celebrating anything, they unexpectedly brought my husband a delicious flan.

I came here for my birthday, ordered the tasting menu, and had an amazing experience. I would recommend Quintonil to anyone!

We had the dinner pairing tasting menu and it did not disappoint. A couple of the dishes were underwhelming, but the wine/beer/cider pairing was spot on every time. The portions were great, presentation beautiful, and the fusions of cuisine inspired! I felt a bit rushed between courses and often had a lot of glasses on the table. We had forgotten there was a pairing menu so when presented with the cocktail/wine list before dinner we ordered a cocktail. We were disappointed that the $20USD cocktails were very juice forward and sweet. I definitely prefer to see a spirit forward cocktail for that price. I have to say the servers and Sommeliers were very friendly. And Andrea, the hostess, was a wealth of information on where to go after dinner!! She was welcoming, friendly and knew exactly what we were looking for!

An exceptional and world class dining experience! A beautifully composed tasting menu that highlights Mexican cuisine. The environment and service and friendly and warm, and all the staff are incredibly welcoming. It’s easy to see why this restaurant consistently ranks as one of the best in the world.

Made a reservation here for our weekend trip to CDMX and so glad we did! We ended up doing a la carte and the service was amazing. Everyone was attending to our table and the food was so incredible. A nice elevated twist on Mexican cuisine. I’m truly shocked this place was on the 50 top restaurants list. We have been to a few other top restaurants and this is honestly my least favorite. The food was not even the best we had during our time in Mexico City. We had better service and food at Ling Ling. The staff was not helpful when it came to describing the food and we had mentioned a few concerns and they waited til the last minute to make changes. Reading the other reviews I am just glad we didn’t get sick.

Excellent service, presentation and experience! I made the mistake of bringing my grandmother here and she would not eat anything, it was just out of her element. The food was okay. I did mention I was pescatarian, but the rest of my family was not and they only got chicken. For $300 USD per person, I think giving them some type of meat would have been good. Overall, this place is the type of restaurant that you go to only once to experience.

My experience at Quintonil was one of my favorites for fine dining to date. The food and drinks were incredible and the service was impeccable. What a phenomenal experience! The food was complex, beautifully prepared and presented, and delicious without being overwhelming. I only deducted a star for atmosphere because the tall chairs at the bar were very uncomfortable for a bigger person (if I'd sat at a table I think it would be 10s across the board but then I'd miss out on watching the kitchen work their magic!). Definitely worth a visit, would recommend!!!

Fernando & David took amazing care of us, as well as the rest of the lovely staff, we didn't ask for wine pairings but they also had tasty mocktails/non alcoholic options available. Everything was incredibly beautiful and delicious, near out of body experience. Ask about the regions the dishes are inspired by, I think they are happy to inform anyone who may show an interest. I don't get to dine at such establishments frequently but this did not disappoint and was worth every penny.

Although I’m glad I got to experience it for myself it’s not a place I’d recommend to friends who have a limited time visiting CDMX or a place I’d return to. The food was good if you’re a fan of Mexican food. But the atmosphere isn’t great. Very brightly lit, all you hear is people talking all around you. It’s supposed to be an intimate little restaurant (max seating 40 ppl) but it feels a bit like an office. Service was excellent!!!

  • 5/5 Leopoldo G. 8 months ago on Google
The wine pairing was on point. Definitely a place to come if you’re visiting, but being Mexican myself I feel like there were some things I wasn’t impressed by. It’s clearly catered to a foreign audience (like the insect section, and the explanation of what is “taquear” lol) so in my experience I couldn’t justify the cost, but lovely experience nonetheless.

Wow, just wow. I showed up with no reservation and no expectations. I was not disappointed as the food was next level and the wait staff very attentive. I had a ten course tasting menu with wine pairings, left with a full stomach and smile on my face.

We reserved last minute probably due to cancellation because a month before there was no spot available for the same day. We both took the tasting menu with wine paring. It was delicious. I do understand why it’s now #9 on the World's 50 Best Restaurants. There’s no over the top presentation but the taste is just fantastic. Everything is well balanced. Nothing is too much. Every bite is perfectly measured. My favorite was the butternut squash and tomatoes salad and the crème fraîche and melipona bee honey. We still talk about it days later. That’s how good it was. The only criticism I have, if there is, is about the sommelier. I think there isn’t enough explanation. Like how it’s supposed to taste, why they chose it for the next dish. The only thing they tell you when they bring the wine is “This is called xxx. It is a Merlot from France. The year is 1999. Enjoy” The waiters are very attractive as well, polite, great service. Oh and they give you a little breakfast for the next morning. I thought it was a nice surprise. And the bun was pretty good! Overall I would definitely recommend going.

I had an amazing experience at Quintonill restaurant in Mexico City. The service was on point throughout the night. The food was out of this world, and sitting at the kitchen table elevated the fine dining experience. I highly recommend trying the wine pairing for the full experience, although it's still exceptional without it.

As we entered the restaurant we were quite shocked by the location. The space is narrow, badly decorated and lighted with no bar to have a drink while waiting for your table. Not really engaging while departing for a gourmet dinner experience. We were seated near the open kitchen which was nice apart it was freezing cold, we had to dine with our jackets on the entire time. The lightening is strong and unpleasant for such dining experience. They enquired about any food allergies which we don't have and start serving without bringing any menu. The 1st plate consisted on a tamato salad with pumpkin slice. Really nothing special. The 2nd course was a dry aged hamachi with mushrooms seasoned with grasshopers. The association of fish with fungus is extremely random we did not appreciate it and my husband was not keen on having any insects. We would have appreciate they asked on the 1st place if we were all up to eating them. Came the 3rd course with lobster and avocado, ceviche style which was over spicy and covered too much the lobster flavours. Then we had a sucking pig tamal which was ok. Then arrived the main courses, a set to make your own 2 tacos of fish seasoned with grasshopers and sausage made of ants and different toppings with ant eggs and other insects coming with a slobbery salad of agave. It was by far the most unsavoury tacos we ever had in Mexico. Pretentious introduction and plating for really nothing to be enjoyable. It followed by the last main course which was again a taco with beef tail which could have been the best plate of the menu if it was not ruined by chili again over covering the flavors of the beef tail reduction. The deserts consited on a whiped cream ice cream with "caviar", a very cheap and bad one followed by a corn cake that was really acid. We love dining at the san pellegrino listed restaurants world wide and Quintonil was by far the worse we ever had to experience. Pujol is a much better option. Ironicaly being praised by the guide they served evian sparkling water. The set menu is charged over 4,000 mxn (230 usd) without wine and service which is a total rip off knowing apart of the tiny lobster portion there is absolutely nothing premium served. The service is fair but nothing special, they insist on changing any dropped napkind but forgot twice to bring a new one. The plates were roboticaly introduced to us. We left still hungry even we tried all plates,it was missing food. Very deceiving dinner knowing we ate 10 times better in Mexico anywhere else. At this price it is a total fraud to be honest.

Tried kitchen counter 10 course tasting menu, several appetizer dishes were creative, as you flip over the squash/chips on top there is another presentation underneath. portion is well controlled. Deserts were light and fluffy so by the end it’s not too much to eat. I remembered ate in another restaurant for a 10 course, by 5 or 6 course both me and my husband were so full and it became painful to continue. Ended up $350 dollar person without wine paring, definitely a Michelin 3 start expense haha.

😐 This place is huge, and there's always a waiting line to get in, the menu is small and straighforward, but it's totally worth eating there... I would just say there are too many tables per room, and sometimes the waiters are less than attentive becsuse of the amount of customers... still worth it.
