The location is not close to anything touristy but the trip is worthwhile. Usually a wait time. Facilities are clean but not fancy. On the other hand food is very tasty and they have great dishes. Service is good and it’s family friendly. Beware of their times since they close early and they don’t open on sundays

5 stars all the way! Every dish is by far creative and exceptional. Despite we spoke very broken spanish, our waitress was amazing. Every dish that she recommended exceeded our expectations. If I were to return to CDMX and can only have one meal, THIS is the place to be. Yes. I will take this over Pujol for sure. I know it is not the same line of restaurant but I promise you the food is much better here! And it was well worth an Uber ride away from Polanco. We met Chef Gerardo Vázquez Lugo on our way out and he was super nice also!

Being generous with the two stars! On ordering the tasting menu we weren’t asked about allergies. We informed them that one in the party was highly allergic to an ingredient and confirmed it again with a second waiter. Second dish came out covered in it. They then took it to the kitchen, removed the ingredient and returned the same plate 😳🙈 Naturally this course was not eaten. The pork dish was just fat with barely any meat(inedible). The other dishes lacked any flavor or real balance of flavors and the desert was sprayed all over me because of an empty cream canister which they hadn’t checked (sent back because half was all over me). Most surprising of all was the moment we were presented with the bill which offered zero discount even though four of the seven dishes were actually sent back to the kitchen. Also you would think, as a chef, you would go talk to the table with so many errors but nada. Lastly every single dish was brought out with the exact same garnish. I mean come on… have some imagination please. Second star awarded because the waiter seemed truly embarrassed but clearly there was no leadership not decent chef in the kitchen so not his fault.

I ate here with my friends and everything was very delicious, particularly the calamari dish I had. the pork belly taco was good but not amazing. I also tried this chicken dish stuffed with mushrooms and served with vegetables. The chicken was very well cooked and has great crispy skin. The portion was also quite large and I’d recommend it for two people. My friend is vegetarian and enjoyed her squash entree. Lastly for dessert, we got the arroz con leche and some cafecitos. The dessert was very balanced and not too sweet. Overall, it was worth the trip there and I would go again

I recently visited this restaurant recommended by a friend. Despite being a Saturday night, the restaurant wasn't very busy. I ordered smoked rabbit and beef carpaccio as starters, hoping to experience the restaurant's high standards as stated in their menu's mission statement. However, I found the food and service to be underwhelming. Moving on to the main course, I had beef tongue and pork knuckles. The beef tongue was cooked perfectly, tender and soft, with a well-balanced acidity. The pork knuckles were also beautifully cooked, but unfortunately, the server butchered it before I could fully appreciate its presentation. Overall, my expectations were high, while the dishes were well-prepared, the overall experience fell a little short.

Nicos is far but worth the drive. It’s a top 50 restaurant with reasonable prices and excellent service. The duck mole was incredible, and don’t miss out on their signature margaritas.

This is one of my favorite restaurant in Mexico City, it has everything to have a great breakfast, lunch or dinner. I tried this time the tuétano. It was delicious tasty and delicious, then I eat the sopa de fideos secos and was great. Please make your self a favor and come here have a great time, enjoy tue company and the food! Not coming here one you next visit to Mexico City will be a very bad mistake. Just take in consideration the time for the breast and lunch

Amazing!!!! All the food was so flavorful. The servers were very professional- but not pretentious. The manager helped us with gluten free dishes. Save room for dessert.

Nicos is one of the best restaurants in CDMX. Food, drinks, service…all excellent. Great for breakfast or lunch. The chef and his mother are delightful if you get a chance to meet them. Best Negroni I’ve had in CDMX. Excellent wine selection. Appetizers: Bone Marrow Sope & Pork Belly Tacos Entrees: Pork Ribs in Pipián mole and Rabbit in Salsa Chile Piquín This is where local chefs send their friends! Updated review (June 3, 2022) Service has gone down hill. While the chefs enjoy their long lunch, the kitchen staff and waiters are on their own. Food is still very good…but what made this place special is gone for me. Plates not changed between courses. No bread offered. No post dinner offering (it used to be a digestive tea and house made sweets.) Inconsistent treatment of tables. Chef…please take back your dining room. Greet your guests. Make sure the details are carried through.

Taste-wise the food was quite ok, nothing really stood out though. No complaints on service either. Biggest issue perhaps was the portion sizes in the tasting menu, unfortunately they were way too generous and it was a struggle to keep eating the later dishes.

Very good Mexican food and good service. In addition to the pictures, we tried the bone marrow sope (pretty good), the fideo seco (pretty good), the huitlacoche (very good), the scallops with tuna (good), and the agar agar dessert (I didn't like that one).

Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Was in the mood for a quick bite and just got what I was looking with the enchiladas Nico's. The dish was tasty, a bit spicy for the green sauce. The chicken was good and the cheese on top was delicate. Would like to go back for lunch or dinner. Service was quick and good. Price was very affordable.

Founded in 1957 - it is formal but not precious. It is a must. A more traditional restaurant, the table side preparations are amazing, (the Caesar salad is a must - which was created in Mexico) and the staff is charming. One of the best ceviche's. In a town ruled by long lunches this is the ultimate.

A delightful experience from beginning to end. The food, the service and the care put into the traditional flavours was spot on. We had the fresh guacamole, sopa de seca, cuitlacoche, ceviche, rabbit, fish mole and dessert. We would recommend everything we ate! Thank you for the wonderful dining experience!!!

Went for breakfast and lunch. I guess lunch is overall better but their morning pastries are very tasty. However, food is really good. The place is ok, simple and nothing too exciting, but cozy; it is always crowded so you better book a table in advance but I have been lucky with the amazing service as we always gotten a table without a reservation and even today they served us breakfast after the morning closing hours. Location is not very convenient, but totally worth the trip. A must in Mexico City!

A very special place with a focus on traditional ingredients, traditions, and flavours. Unpretentious, affordable, delicious. We had the atole champurrado, assortment of chorizos, green enchiladas, grapefruit juice, latte, and sweet bread. The refried beans are the best I've ever had, with the essence of lard.

It was so good I was crying with happiness! We got the seven course menu, which somehow was 9 courses! I have never had food like this. I also requested only vegetables or seafood and every single thing was perfectly seasoned, balanced, beautiful. I wish I could give more than 5 stars, especially for the amazing service!

Nicos is always amazing. One of the most famous places in Mexico City (and without the bougie-snobish atmosphere of all the other top places in CDMX). We came, of course, for the famous chile en nogada (and had to book our table weeks in advance). I had even tried to call to change my reservation and received no answer (either by phone, WA or Instagram), but the hostess was kind enough to let us have an additional person. We got a complementary mini tostada with cream and pepper (rajas con crema). I had the tortilla soup (pretty but nothing spectacular), some bone marrow (tuétano) sopes and the chiles. We also had ate and cheese for dessert (which is the only plate I would’ve spared). Prices are decent, service is good.

Best Mexican Food Restaurant in CDMX This restaurant is not located in a touristic area of the city. However, taking the time to visit this place is very rewarding. They offer a seasonal menu with fresh ingredients and traditional Mexican dishes. It is definitely the best Mexican food I've ever had. The place is cozy, nicely decorated, and the service is excellent. If you are visiting Mexico, this is by far better than Pujol or Quintonil and more budget friendly.

(Translated by Google) I went 2 times last year, once if I was able to get in after at least 40 minutes of waiting, food generally ok, but nothing spectacular for the cost, there were options that were already finished, fret stripped. As for the attention, at a table of a friend of them, more than one waiter giving attention (there were only 2 diners) and at our table we had to wait for the waiter who served us to pass; from the reception you notice a certain difference in the treatment of your acquaintances. The second time, I preferred to go somewhere else, waiting time at least 1 hour, we decided to leave, for my taste the cost-benefit ratio is not worth it; I prefer to go anywhere less slow and with better service and flavor, so I have not returned and will not return (Original) Fui 2 veces el año pasado, una si pude ingresar después de al menos 40 minutos de espera, la comida en general bien, pero nada espectacular para el costo, había opciones que ya se habían terminado, traste despotillado.

(Translated by Google) It is a pretentious place more than anything else. The place is spacious and with simple details envelops the diner in what could well be an authentic culinary experience, first bite; nothing extraordinary. Next dish; the same. It was notorious that reserving a table to eat there (as suggested) finding it relatively empty and keeping a good amount of time waiting for food does not do justice to what the identity of this restaurant is properly attributed with its many years of experience. Eating at Vips or Sanborns is its equivalent in food with the difference in prices similar to those of El Cardenal - a comparative comment that does not seek to offend the staff or demean one restaurant of the other - which also tries to imitate the service; by the way if we talk about the service, amm; between fair and good. Maybe it will be the repetition of going to this restaurant that could convince you that it has a certain touch or a certain style. But no one goes to a restaurant just because of its atmosphere, they go to a restaurant to eat. The status mame train and those things are not found in this place. Actually now that I think about it, I don't know what's special about it. They gave me a very good recommendation but I think it is no longer valid. If you go to this place, go with good patience and tolerance. Regards. Saludos.

However, for breakfast, being recently established, I consider that it is not yet comparable with food. With the new normal, and service abroad presents areas of opportunity in service, logistics, organization, etc. The recommendation is the Azcapotzalco eggs, the milk coffee, the chilaquiles. The bread is far from the best I've ever had.

At lunch with friends we ordered whiting, of course guacamole, dry noodles, octopus, jerky with enchiladas en mole, grilled fish with mashed sweet potato mmmm, and for dessert capirotada and fritters. All shale, loved the mashed sweet potato mmmm.

Some of my friends recommend this place to me. I tried before, but the wait time was more than 30 minutes. Finally, I could go on a Sunday, but I don't enjoy the experience. The restaurant was ugly, and there were many waiters, but they weren't efficient. We should repeat the same to some of them. The portions are tiny, making me feel that prices are overpriced. I live in the USA, and fees in this restaurant are higher than there.

had an amazing experience at this restaurant, they went above and beyond to assist me with food allergies and the service was nothing short of impeccable. the amazing staff were so kind and accommodating, and the food was delicious. the guacamole made table side was one of the best i’ve ever had, and my spouse loved the enchiladas. they were able to make a special batch of enchiladas for me and not only did it warm my heart with gratitude, but they were so yummy too. if you have the chance, definitely make a stop here to eat, you won’t regret it!

Simple, classical Mexican breakfast done well. I especially enjoyed the huevos rancheros, though as an American it was the simplest I've ever eaten with just three ingredients: tortilla, eggs, salsa. Guava pastry, green juice blend and drinking chocolate rounded out a lovely breakfast.
