Probably the worst tourist trap in Teotihuacán. Prices three times as high at the gift shop as the people selling them in the ruins. They cut corners at every chance. Food is mediocre at best and portions are small. A 110 pesos for an entrée that was meant for two (see photos), one agua de tamarindo was obviously Tang and not real tamarind. Didn't tip because it wasn't worth it, and as a Mexican, I was embarrassed by such a display. Have a little self respect and avoid at all costs.

After a mesmerizing day exploring the Teotihuacán pyramids, our tour bus made a pit stop at Tlacaelel, and oh boy, were we in for a treat! Picture this: mariachi bands serenading us with tunes that made our hips lie, dancers twirling so fast they could generate electricity, and drinks so good they could make a cactus sway. But the pièce de résistance? Their special - a molcajete loaded with a smorgasbord of seafood, cactus, and meats, which they boldly set on fire right at your table, as if the meal wasn't hot enough! It was like a culinary fireworks show, minus the need for safety goggles. Tlacaelel isn't just a restaurant; it's a fiesta where your taste buds are the guests of honor. Five stars for making our stomachs as happy as our hearts!

The food was good! The tuna margarita was fantastic - the rose syrupy taste was unique! The add ons - the live two-man music and the feathered-head geared dance was fantastic (someone educate me as to the traditional names of these).

Interesting traditional place. Buffet had a wide variety of good foods. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

It's a really big tourist scam. The buffet was not slightly worth the money, no flavor and canned food. I also ordered quesadillas de escamolles for 60pesos and then they charged me 350pesos and said it was something else and forced me to pay it. So dont go it here!

Stopped here as part of a tour to the pyramids. Some of the worst food I’ve had in Mexico. We got the tacos and quesadilla. All the meat was pretty dry and had little flavor. Only after ordering and eating we found out about the buffet, which the waiter did not even mention to us as an option, and it wasn’t on the menu. Only upside is the atmosphere is nice and the service was ok. I also had terrible food poisoning after eating here and was sick in bed with a fever for two days.

The food was excellent!!! We have absolutely had no issues with the food..but we had issues with the service!!! The lady who was serving at the buffet was giving us an absolute minimum amount of food..while she was serving a rather generous portion to the European people. The other staffs were dodgy as well...we told them to add 15% of our total as tips..but they conveniently charged our card for 50% tips!!! Very very dodgy!!!

They had the audacity to tell my husband to tip. That's not something you do and is quite rude. Totally a tourist trap 🪤

Our guided tour group stopped at this restaurant and most of us opted for the buffet lunch. It was ok - I feel that one can debate the pros and cons of dining at a buffet at length. In this case, there were a good variety of options, and no one had any complaints. I found the accompanying live music and performances entertaining (albeit touristy)

This was one of the worst restaurants that I have been to. The meat was bland and old. My medium steak was raw and tasteless. The waiter was condescending and might as well demanded a tip. I always provide tips in the receipt without being asked and i do not appreciate being pressured by the waiter.

Their food portions were big! They had an option for “buffet” style for $225/pp with a decent selection. We opted for the “three cultures” in a volcanic bowl (pictured below). This served more than 2 people and came with a side of tortillas. Every piece of meat was delicious. The giant chicharron in the middle was a highlight.

We ate here after our tour. Served immediately. I got fries (papas) and lemonade. It took longer than anticipated but fries were good. Lemonade was weak. Others in group got salads (served almost immediately) and an insect dish. Took awhile to get the check and prices were higher than I would like. Restrooms and restaurant clean. You can pay with credit card.

Portions should be a little bigger. the menu is good, but the dishes are poorly described and there are no pictures. Spaghetti is in the same part of the menu as other soups, so we ordered it instead of tomato soup, because it says tomato soup, which is confusing. beer colder, we got the same as room temperature.

Came here with a tour group and was forced to buy their overpriced food. Was heckled three times for tips during our meal and ended up with food poisoning. Avoid this place if you have the option.

It is close to Pyramid. Tour guide take ua here to have a lunch. Buffet food was ok. Also they have mexican local dance show for custmers. Right next to the restaurant, gift shop is there. I bought local Tequila and some gift for family.

Simply horrible and overpriced. The tacos had no flavor and the meat was dry. The fish dish was okay. The buffet my children got was not good. The meat was dry and they ran out of fruit. Avoid if possible.

This is a tourist restaurant and feels like something I'd find in the US and not in Mexico. The food was lackluster and flavorless and I definitely got sick from the cheese they added to the tacos. The service was barely there. After taking our order we didn't see our waiter again until we flagged them down for the check. There are performances but they come around your table after and ask for tips. Save your money and your time and go to any of the roadside vendors instead.

Food is very basic, not disgusting but also not tasty really. Lacking quite a lot of flavor, guacamole was just some avocado with sprinkle of tomato and bunch of tortilla chips.

Food was really, really gross. Queso fundido tasted like glue, everything else was flavorless. Service was very slow and unresponsive.

Worst food we've had in Mexico so far. Super expensive for such a poor quality. The service took ages to bring us our food and didn't even apologise for it. They bring tourist buses here that are part of tours so they don't have other options. Avoid it
