This is really a mysterious but beautiful place! We visited the archeological site and its surroundings. Also, and this made it really special, we took a hot air balloon ride to watch the site from above together with lots of other balloons. Fabulous and unforgettable!

Awesome site. The other pyramids at Teotihuacan don’t have this level of ornamentation. You can’t currently get up close to the pyramid because of the COVID pandemic, but there is a reproduction in the Museum of Anthropology that gives you an idea of what it is like to do so.

Going to Teotihuacan was the coolest experience of my life!! Quetzalcoatl’s Pyramid, or the Pyramid of the Plumed Serpent is the first complex you see straight ahead when you come out of the visitors center. It’s easy to run straight to the Pyramid of the Sun and over look this smaller temple but it is so worth the climb, but you have to climb! The detailed sculptures of the gods are done on the INSIDE of the first set of stairs, so from across the field the pyramid looks plane, but the detail is in an amphitheater type pyramid INSIDE. So climb up and over to get the full effect or you’ll completely miss it!!!

This was actually my favorite temple at Teotihuacan. It's not easy to see because of the restrictions they have put on getting close to the Pyramid. I would have given it 5 stars if I could have gotten closer.

The Temple of the Feathered Serpent is the third largest pyramid at Teotihuacan, a pre-Columbian site in central Mexico. This structure is notable partly due to the discovery in the 1980s of more than a hundred possibly sacrificial victims found buried beneath the structure. The pyramid takes its name from representations of the Mesoamerican "feathered serpent" deity which covered its sides. These are some of the earliest-known representations of the feathered serpent, often identified with the much-later Aztec god Quetzalcoatl. Temple of the Feathered Serpent" is the modern-day name for the structure; it is also known as the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Feathered Serpent Pyramid.

The best temple of the three. The sitting area is a great area to look and wonder. To understand why they did it and the amount of labor that was involved. The carvings are large and impressive.

One of the best site to visit near the Mexico City. And it is best to visit with a guide who can provide the introduction of history and the vision of the imagination. It is best to visit in the early morning to avoid the large groups. It seems a little hard to reserve a Uber back to CDMX after you finish the trip. Maybe reserve in advance.

My absolute favorite place in Teotihuacán. You cannot miss this place. It's absolutely magical and worth the walk even more than the pyramids themselves.

Pretty self paced. We did not get a guide, but would recommend if you didn't grow up in México. The whole tour took us a bit over 3hrs. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Love it!

This maybe the most beautiful temple in the whole city of Teotihuacan if not the most impressive. The building is adorned with finely executed sculptures of the feathered serpent, Quetzalcoatl, and is restored to some degree. It is located very far from the main attractions however, and hence attracts far fewer tourists, which is their loss

Such an incredible place. We visited during October holidays. If you do one thing in and around Mexico City, do this! I had a similar, out of this world feeling, as when I saw the Giza pyramids or Abu Simbel in Egypt. These ancient cultures always leave me in awe. This site is huge, about 4 km from end to end. It has two exits. I recommend getting there for the opening time, to beat the tour buses that usually stop somewhere before getting here. We took a private guided tour through Viator and had an amazing guide, so we learned a lot about the place and the culture. We started at the entrance at the Pyramid of the feathered Serpent, and there were barely any people. This pyramid is the only one with loads of decorations intact. We had the pyramid to ourselves. This was the only pyramid on which we could climb ( or rather climb the Adosada platform behind which hides the pyramid). After that we walked to the other end of the site, through the “town”, to the huge Pyramid of the Sun and then the Pyramid of the Moon. By the time, we got to the other side of the site, there were already more people there. We exited the site here, after about 3 hours. We were glad we booked a private tour, as our niece and daughter weren’t suddenly feeling well, so we just jumped into the car and the guide took us to our hotel.

Temple Pyramid in Hidalgo State, Mexico. Sacred to the Feathered Serpent God, known as Quetzalcoatl by Nahuatl speakers in the later Post Classical era, this temple is the heart of the Ciudadela, a rectangular plaza surrounded by low temple platforms. The Ciudadela [Citadel] was built at a later date than the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon to the northeast. It is sited on the "Street of the Dead" and a the major cross street, and is the center of the quartered ancient city, ca. 300 AD. The large plazas around these structures are thought to have been a major marketplace. However, the structures surrounding the Temple of the Feathered Serpent may have well been constructed to shield ceremonies from the city just outside the Ciudadela boundaries. The inner plaza is still very large, and could have accommodated thousands of spectators and participants. The temple itself was created in at least two stages, as a larger temple (dating to ~100 to 200 AD) has had an additional structure built over on its west side (~300AD). The remains of red frescoes can be seen at the base of the pyramid. A facade of tiers of cut and originally painted stone around the sides of the temple are of feathered serpents, serpents and conch shells. The temple shows some of the earliest representations of the Feathered Serpent, which appears throughout Mesoamerica in different cultures and eras. (There are no representations of the feathered serpent as anthropomorphic, as the much later Aztecs sometimes depicted the god.) In the 1980's archaeologists found the remains of 120 people within the temple foundations, apparently placed there as sacrificial offerings at the start of construction.

Make sure to take the stairs down so you can see the older reliefs down near the base. Here you can also see shells in the stones indicating the empires reach out to the coastal areas.

Very impressive building. Entrance price/fee is arouns 75$ mexican pesos. 2 hour from city center and you can book a tour for 600-700$ or you can try to take metro to come here. There are people selling souvenirs.

don’t just go for the sun and moon pyramids when you’re here, take a walk down the path to this pyramid and admire its history and architecture. my guide said the “newer” structure in front is covering an “older”structure. no one actually knows why since there are no records. the original 7levels are meant to signify the step to heaven or something like that. the altar in front is apparently for sacrificial stuffs. my guide carries a guide book with pictures that reimagine what it looked like in the past. if you’re not just there for photo ops, should consider getting a certified guide.

Make sure you come in with a guide!!! There's so much to know and understand down to the tiniest of details. It's a bit of a climb so better be prepared especially since Mexico sits at a higher altitude too.

The most beautiful and most well preserved pyramid at Teotihuacán. It is easy to miss since it is located at the far south end of the archeological site, but that would be a mistake. Impressive carvings of the feathered serpent alternate with carvings of Tlaloc on the fascia. I would recommend starting at this location and then working your way up north to the temple of the moon.

I visited the archeological grounds on a Saturday midday in the final days of May 2022 alongside my father. I had previously been to the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon but had always neglected to visit these ceremonial grounds. It is believed that the main beliefs surrounding Quetzalcoatl were first formalized here in Teotihuacan since they predate the rise of the Nahua and Maya people. My father mentioned that the last time he visited (before the pandemic) the temple was undergoing renovations. Thankfully they were reopened when we visited. Very cool archeological grounds.

For me, the best spot in this "place of gods" Teotihuacan !!! The almost intact masks are so beautiful!!! two types of snakes (one of them usually taken as Tlaloc but it's another snake) that represent one of the most important character in this civilization. I love it!!!

A sight to see. Must come ready with a good hat, lots of water, good walking shoes and best in the am to avoid much sun as possible. Have a great time and do not pollute.
