Nestled in the quiet and beautiful Bollinger Canyon. I went after the traffic back home was at a halt so I decided to go for a nearby hike instead. It was just me and the nature during my time spent here. Didn't have proper shoes so will go back soon again to complete the elevation.

Great hiking trails. Lots of steep rolling hills. Good amount of parking in the lot or on the side of the road. Can get very windy at the top. I'll make sure to bring or take my allergy medication. Great place to see flowers in the Spring. We saw many lizards, grasshoppers, and butterflies. Cows were out in the distance. Great views and resting spots.

My favorite trails were closed on the east side of Las Trampas Regional Park due to repairs needed on the trails to make them safe. Nevertheless I found another area where I made my own trail uphill following narrow animal trails and cattle tracks. I heard and spotted a lone turkey up on the hillside and viewed a pair of Red-Tailed Hawks floating in the breeze. A variety of wildflowers were blooming including Miniature Lupine, Hairy Vetch, California Poppy (aka Golden Poppy, California Sunlight, Cup of Gold), California Buttercup, and Western Blue-Eyed Grass ( aka California Blue-Eyed Grass). Several old Valley Oaks doted the hillsides. Many standing alone in grassy meadows with wildflowers. A photo I took from the road shows the stark contrast between areas allowed to grow wild and those turned into grazing areas for cattle.

This place has gorgeous view. I love bring my kids hiking there. It's easy enough for my 3 year old and my 20 year old with a knee problem.

I've literally had this park as my extended backyard since 1972. Yet still it seems I don't spend enough time up there. This park has an old soul. Her steep west facing canyons whistle the wind 2000 feet above a 360° view of the Bay Area. Gentle, fierce, calm and wicked. Never predictable. Never disappoints.

Really nice hiking with lots of cgallenge options. Not very crowded which was nice. One downside that surprised me was being able to hear road noise for almost half the hike even though you felt like you were far removed. Trails in good condition and well marked. Will be back for more.

Great place for hikers. There are multiple trails from under 2 miles - 10 miles(moderate-difficult). Very windy on top of the mountains. Steep rolling mountains with beautiful views. I recommend carrying water, snacks and sunscreen.

Very warm, no fifth star due to the trail marker being almost covered by tall grass. Really kind of picky. But might confuse some hikers. Also due to excessive rain up hill trail was covered by large rocks creating greater than normal need to be careful with foot placement. Not sure of the rules but saw ATV tracks; might be ranchers tending to livestock? Trail was very wash board-y too.

Very picturesque hike that will take you on a moderately steep slope, up and around beautiful hills and meadows. Stunning views everywhere you turn, lots of crows and other birds, though not much shade and can get very hot in summer. Best to start early. The highight of our hike was a close encounter with mating snakes of zebra pattern not typical of rattlesnake. Creepy but beautiful the way they move.

Well gosh darndit! Wudda a rill swell place. Purdy trails to the east, purdy trails to the west. I just about sawed ‘em all… I wudn’t doing no illegal loggin’, it’s just the way I talk n write. If ya get a permit or are a naughty rule breaker, head over on the west side to that there make out wind cave on the property of EBMUD. Easy with the hanky panky there though, ya might be seen from down yonder below! But maybe yuh dig that kinder excitement. Too each their own, I s’pose! Keep an eye out for the traps (jaja porque trampas means traps in el español) and the poison oak, and have a blessed time!

Wonderful place in San Ramon. We like to take bollinger creek trail up to trampas peak. Rocky Ridge loop trail and Elderberry trail will give you a great view of the Bay on a clear day.

Love the isolation & all the steep climbs up to the peaks! Very, very muddy this time of year though.

Very nice cutaway of green space in the Pleasanton hills. Give yourself enough time to make it back down before the gate is locked. Ring plenty of water.

(Translated by Google) Two years ago came not go in depth experience, today climbed into the top of the hill, the scenery is really good! Bay Area to see the sea, to reach the summit of the North-South scenery is not bad. Mid-levels went up along the road needs permit, need to bring some friends. If you walk along the road on foot, then the soil is free.

This place is real California wilderness. There is a nearby ranch and cows roam the area. There is a creek around the center of the trail and it is very hilly.

Las Trampas has lots of great hiking trails. Most of them are bike friendly and all are pretty well maintained. The only reason I gave this four stars was because on one of the main trails (it's actually a fire/maintenance road) it took multiple years to repair a small landslide. Despite small maintenance problems, I would definitely recommend giving Las Trampas a visit.

  • 5/5 Scott D. 1 year ago on Google
Nice park and well kept. Trails are well marked and maintained. Getting to the top of the ridge is some work but the views and photo ops are worth the effort. No shortage of parking.

  • 5/5 E M. 2 years ago on Google
The beauty of this true wilderness is that there is room for everyone. It is a working cattle area, but I am still amazed at the people who have their dog off leash around the calves. The Elderberry Trail we hiked reached 1437 ft. in elevation. This moderate hike was great for the legs, and less travelled. The beauty in the trees, the birds, and I was sure I heard a big cat in the stream area. Do take your walking poles; plenty of water, snacks; apply plenty of sunscreen, and enjoy the majestic sights.

Wow. That up hill climb was brutal. Views were good. Not much trees. It is the middle of summer. Thinking..102 that day. Bring tons of water. Down hills were brutal also good workout.

Great views. Would recommend having the all trails app or a map downloaded as signal is spotty and trails overlap

  • 4/5 Fatema B. 8 months ago on Google
Easy 2 mile trail. Did with kid on carrier. Half of the trail has tree shade while the other half is in open ranch. Look out for thorny bushes at the side of the trail.

A hidden gen in the valley of San Ramon. We love to go here. Its an Absolutely beautiful place to hike especially in winters. The trails can get a bit muddy when it rains and sometimes theres no water available. But nonetheless, we love to hike here. I am an avid bird watcher and I have seen Cooper’s Hawk, Golden eagles and Quails frequently. Its a great place for picnicking or biking. I took this shot from my fav trail which starts at the Bollinger staging area. Cheers.

Now that's a hill! We hiked up to the top of the ridge, which is some climbing. Tough on the kids (tougher for the parents!) But lots of fun. Great views today of the dog to the west, the smog to the north and gorgeous Mt. Diablo to the east. This is a must hike for the challenge and the views.

Las Trampas Wilderness Park has many hiking trails. The Sycamore-Devil's Hole loop is almost 7mile hike and it is moderate to difficult. The view is beautiful and we we're lucky to see many wildflowers. Hiking through the wilderness with wind in the hair is very refreshing. I recommend this for people who want to hike around the San Ramon area.

We went hiking in Danville to one of our favorite old stomping grounds! Eagles peak! And it was so muddy! We took a game trail when we were almost out of the woods ??? It turned out to be pretty scary! With no gps although the trial map read on the road called " no point of return". I didn't think anything of it! It was really muddy and we kept sliding down, down, down and realized we must be going the wrong way we decided to turned back, even though it wasn't the exact way we came bc it was too muddy to climb up the hill. I wasn't giving it much thought....but I kept thinking if we kept going further into the abyss we may have been stuck there bc it was like quick sand..but quick mud. No joke...I was laughing not thinking much!

Nice views. Good fire roads. Steep climb to top then rolling. Cows, coyotes, turkeys and sometimes pig sightings. Look for Virgil Williams single track-very pretty

A good place to go hiking for few hours. There is a limited number of trails, and some of them end at private property. However views are breathtaking - we really enjoyed it.

  • 4/5 savageasflux 4 years ago on Google
Very nice area for recreational activities like mountain biking and hiking with great vista views of many local valleys. Most trails are fire trails, rarely plowed, with loose over hard pack dirt mostly, some rocky sections, and some severely torn up by dry mud cow footprints soon after rainy season. Most trails are steep that traverse up the canyons, some very hard up to 40% grade for over 1 mile. Pack water and some more water and food for extended activities. Watch out for the prevalent poison oak, and there are also ticks and snakes. Animals you may find could be cows, turkeys, vultures, wild cats, maybe some deer. Sunscreen any time other than winter but lots of areas are covered with shady trees, but some long sun exposed trails as well. Ridge trail is long and nice bike ride up to about 1800 elevation, makes for some long steep gnarly downhills. Many friendly trails users around so keep an eye out. Pics from 3 different trips, and reason for -1 star is steepness and rough trails.

Beautiful parks! Nice wildflowers and green hills in spring. We saw five snakes on the trail.

Watch out for the cows! My family and I got chased by the cows and if it wasn’t for the enclosed picnic area we probably would have gotten hurt by them! This is over by steelhead.

  • 5/5 Ville A. 4 years ago on Google
There are a lot of trails there so I'm definitely going to make multiple trips out. The trails are really nice and you get a great view of everything once you hit the top of the ridge. The parking lot was small but I was there when it wasn't busy so I can't say how it will be on a busy day. Bring plenty of water!
