Dirty, awful, noisy and poor customer service. I paid for a 5 night stay but after the first night I had to check out early because the room was ridiculously noisy and uninhabitable. The staff insulted me because of my age (senior citizen) and refused to refund me for the remining 4 nights. However, the location is great. FYI - the pictures on the website are not the hostal but a hotel next door.

I wish I had seen the prior reviews about sleeping conditions. I've stayed in hostels around the world for 17 years now, and I'm not usually one to complain about where I sleep --- but this is pretty rough. The rooms here are suffocatingly hot and stuffy. I'm writing this review at 4 am, because I've been lying awake all night. (I've left the room several times trying to find some relief.) This building is gorgeous, the location is fantastic, and the employees are really kind.... but without adding more fans to address the temperatures at night, it's not a place I would return to or recommend to others. (I actually had a reservation to stay here again next week, but will be canceling.)

The receptionist is horrible AF, unfriendly talks at first time, pushed his responsibility to customers, and forced me to cancel cuz his knew my reservation non-refundable. chicanery way of his talking made me feel so uncomfortable! the energy there just very stressful and negative dark, also he threatened me, the receptionist said his is the manager, his energy and attitude has very bad hooliganism vibe, not friendly at all, terrible as hell. I suggest the owner change another manager, otherwise your business will just getting worse and worse. Had more than 100 hostels/hotel experience, this is absolutely the worse experience in Mexico City! 0 stars & extremely negative

STRICTLY AVOID, they charge you for your every request and take ID. Moreover very aggressive and rude staff. No elevator, difficult to carry luggage to 4th floor from very narrow steep steps. Room floor was full bunch of hairs. No AC. The fan make extreme noice that you cannot sleep. Bathroom smells mold. This is a Scam hostel, stay away otherwise u will regret. There is a hostel next door where very friendly and kind staff work and ready to assist you. Pepe hostel is with elevator and we'll organised with wonderful social activities.

This place is trash! It is located inside a courtyard. Rooms do not have windows. My room had two fans on the walls, one big fan on the ceiling. It was extremely loud and hot anyway. It was like sleeping under an airplane engine. The kitchen is a joke. Stay away from this place, not worth the money. booked for a week left after 2 nights.

I had a rough time at this hostel, and am honestly surprised by so many positive reviews. I booked the queen bed room, and when I walked in I was very struck by the mugginess. The beds are on an elevated platform, so it was even stuffier up there. There is 0 ventilation or air circulation in that room, so if you do book this hostel, I would recommend NOT booking the queens. Breathing everyone else's sweat and breath was ... unpleasant. I barely slept because of the heat and humidity. While they refused to refund me so I could go somewhere with a window or vents, they eventually offered to move me to a smaller-bed dorm with windows and a terrace that they said I would *probably* have to myself. This was sweet and went ok until a staff member barged into the room at 5 am one morning, turned on the light, woke me up, and asked me to take my drying socks off the terrace (that I was told was my personal terrace). Wow? Other issues: There is no drinking water for refilling. The whole time you stay you'll have to buy bottled of water on the street or from their shop. They ... don't give you sheets? You get a mattress with a protector, a blanket, and a pillow without a pillow case. No idea how this is supposed to be functional, and no idea what they actually wash or how often. They say they have a "kitchen" and a shared "terraza," but it's actually just a loud enclosed bar on the top floor blasting mostly bad American music. No kitchen access for guests that i could find. The workout room is more of a fluorescent-lit closet. There's barely any natural light in the whole place. It's a chain, which means not much personality and clear efforts to cut corners. Now for some nice things! The workers were super sweet, to me and to everyone I witnessed them interact with. They definitely tried, and were obvi just doing as they were told. They didn't have much control over issues like whether or not they could refund me, or how the rooms are constructed, but they treated me with kindness regardless. The bathrooms and showers are really nice and so clean. The bunks are also luxurious. The twin is definitely big for a twin, and all the bunks have great privacy and sufficient head room for sitting up (if you're not all that tall). There's a good light and a USB port and plug in each bunk. Hope this is helpful for folks choosing a hostel!

Good location if you want to be in the city center, but very far from good cafes and affordable restaurants. No AC and noisy staff comes in at before 9am to „clean“ rooms and again after the actual checkout time. Coworking and fitness center is a joke and literally one bar seat in a corner and a cross trainer. The kitchen bearly allows for cooking due to no utensils to eat or even cook pasta properly. When we brought it up to the staff they didn’t care or were surprised. But mostly I would recommend to not use the hostel recommended tour operator, we specifically requested a tour to the Cholula pyramid with them and got less then an 1h after closing time at the pyramid in a full day trip + our tour wouldn’t even include the entrance fee. Which was very very disappointing and overpriced!

*DON'T BOOK IF YOU'RE PLANNING ON WAKING UP EARLY FOR EXCURSIONS* - Noise: I understand music on weekends like a Friday or Saturday night, but there is music blasting very loudly from the afternoon until 11pm everyday. Then after the music goes off there are people either shouting, singing, or banging. Good luck getting any decent rest 👍 - Room: nice, spacious and has everything you need. There is no air conditioning or a fan so it gets ridiculously hot and you can barely sleep. Generally speaking it's not a bad place to stay, literally the only problems are the constant noise and the heat.

THIS HOSTAL STOLE MY MONEY AND IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. This was the worst experience I've ever had with any hostal I've ever stayed at. The odor was extremely bad because there were no windows, and the bathrooms and showers were inside the same room as the beds. It was so unsanitary that I left the next morning and was told that I was unable to receive a refund for the other 4 nights which i had already paid for. I am writing this to hopefully protect other travelers from being scammed and taken advantage of. If there was a 0 star rating, I would have chosen it.

Im sure hostels can be fun and budget friendly. but the heavy base house music is extremely loud and overpowering which is herd from my Hampton Inn hotel room across the street. I can’t even imagine how overpowering it must be in this actual hostal/ building. A little annoying as it goes beyond midnight.

I stayed in the deluxe dorm with queen beds (almost like capsules) for four nights. I had a very comfortable sleep and found the facilities really good. The location is very central however the area is very quiet after hours (food places close around 8pm etc). The service and food in the upstairs bar was amazing. Just a note that the music in the bar is very loud which makes it hard to meet other travellers there. I joined the event to see Luche Libre with Giovanni from the hostel and that was amazing too. Overall a great stay.

I stayed in #CASAMXcentro in January 2023 twice. The place is perfectly located in the very heart of Mexico City. It’s a very nice hostel with quite big shared rooms. Every shared room had its own bathroom, so no need to share with the whole hall. The breakfast (included or booked extra) is for the price medium, but still very delicious. The hostel offers everyday activities like Salsa classes for example. If you need any assistance with any booking or information how to get around the city, the staff is always very very friendly and helpful. Especially Daniel and Paola. Since I had a knee injury, they would actually bring my very heavy suitcase to my room! I thank you guys for being so lovely and absolutely pleasurable to chat with! If I ever come back, I would definitely stay with #CASAMXcentro again!

Let's start off with location-walking distance from everything... can't ask foe much with location & price. Service-great, check in process is easy. If you plan to arrive earlier than check-in time, you'll need to let them know in advance otherwise check-in time will be as is. For some reason, they won't break any larger bills such as $500 MXN but requires you to either deposit $100 or leave your ID. If your policy is ask for the deposit then you should have change to give back to the customer! Rooms-I can only speak about the private room on the 4th floor next to the kitchen. As others have mentioned, don't stay here if sleep is important to you & you don't mind the noise or light or not having air conditioning. The 2 private rooms on 4th floor has fans and a window. But there is a light in the hallway right outside the window that never turns off. The glass windows are frosted & there is no curtain to block out the lights from outside. It is very close to the kitchen where guests socialize. On certain days of the week, there is music or sports game on. There is a quiet hour rule in place but who is really enforcing it?!?

Very nice hostel. The location is very good being located very close to historical centre and most attractions from it. The staff is very nice and provides 24h reception with people speaking both Spanish and English. They're helpful and can both answer your questions and provide some tips regarding the city. The rooms are clean and nice. They don't feel overcrowded due to the draps which allow for some feeling of privacy. The dorm rooms also have separate bathrooms for men and women. The payments can be done in cash or by card. A one time deposit of 100MXN will also be needed for the key and keep the receipt to use it to return them on checkout. Generally, I recommend the place for both shorter and longer stays.

Probably The Worst Customer Service I’ve Experienced … This Hostel Is Really Depressing, The Chill Spot Is only for those staying on the 2nd floor. The rooms are hot, no ventilation at nights and the room stink. Not a happy experience at this spot

  • 2/5 Patrick H. 1 year ago on Google
Probably one of the worst hostels I've ever stayed at. If you're planning to sleep, at all, **DO NOT STAY HERE**. Absolutely no ventilation in the rooms, they are all interior with no windows, and get absolutely scorching like a sauna. No air conditioning and limited number of fans on request. NO QUIET HOURS whatsoever. The "rooftop bar" (stretch to call it that, it's literally covered with zero view of anything) has no sound insulation and it sounded like people were throwing furniture down the stairs when using the foosball table. Don't get me wrong I love to have a good time but this is not the right spot for it. This was at 2am and I was lying in my bed as if there was a construction zone party outside my door. Real party hostels aren't even this ridiculous and usually a way better time.

  • 1/5 Justin S. 1 year ago on Google
Edit: Been a few hours since check out and below comment, I've noticed some spots, like bites from bed bugs, on my arms and legs. I'm not saying they have bed bugs, but I'm not saying they don't either. Room 101... That room, bed, was the hottest spot I've ever slept. I just sweated out all 60% of the water I'm made up of, and turns out when I do that I seriously stink.

Location excellent I got lost enjoyed markets bought a padlock too for my locker. Found huge cathedral park palacios tiny street food cafes and taco stalls so a nice start. In spite of my bag going missing at airport! Dont think staff were helpful at beginning as didnt realise my exact situation.. but now manager and another few staff including a lovely girl have helped me so much so all amazing. Hostel is quiet and wifi great in a beautiful building with nice little bar and cafe.. only thing dont like now no free tea coffee and water! My bed is very immaculate with nice fan and ultra clean bedding. Bathroom same as upmarket hotel and really spotless. .it s not a party hostel but nice enough..pretty as you walk in and nice decor in bar area. Also a small tv room with settees..people who want to chat will... It would have been good to have checked in early without charge as most hostels do this now but staff dont make rules. Be respectful practice your Spanish.. people love it..

This place has no open space, no windows, no roof top, no ventilation in dorms No bottom sheet.. just a matress cover, a quilt and a very bad (awful) pillow. no free water.. 20 pesos for a 1l bottle. making money on anything posible. I believe one of their supplies room in inside on of the dorm, so there is permanently a staff member walking in and out Shower and toilets clean! I dont understand all the positive reviews. No worth it. Doesnt feel homie, receptionist not very friendly.

I booked this property on booking.com as a pay at property option. However, they put a hold on my America Express for the FULL amount 11 days before my stay, even though I had the option to cancel for 9 more days. This is against their own stated policy and an unauthorized charge. If I wanted to pay the full price now, I would not have chosen to pay later. When I contacted the property, they said that it was only a "hold" and that I could choose to pay with a different card when I check in. Do they not understand that a gold still removes the money from my credit card for almost 2 weeks? Booking.com said that they should not have done this and they will be investigating. Beware!
