This is the greatest grocery store on earth!!! It is absolutely part of the reason I cannot leave the bay- the produce section alone is to die for. You will never ever see the variety of things you will see here all in one place anywhere else. Everything is priced fairly except mainstays & corporate food that youโ€™d find in Safeway - so I usually visit both grocery stores weekly for different things. As for veggies, meats, nuts, dry goods, bread, butter, eggs, youโ€™re not going to find better selection, variety , & prices. They also carry specialty ethnic items- for example the last time I saw durian for sale was when I was visiting family in the Philippines. Just an incredible place- their pre made food & deli are of exceptional quality. So is the seeds & flower section. As a gardener & cook, this place is a heaven of potential- I am so lucky to be able to shop in a place like this.

I love this place. The variety of goods is high. I've seen beautiful vegetables there that you might not find them in one place. Tons of kinds of mushrooms and so on. I like that the things are almost always in the same space so you can find them pretty easily. I love the soap section and I always have to stop by them for the amazing fragrances that come from them. It could get busy but lines move relatively fast.

Having lived in the Bay Area for many years, this was my first time at the Bowl. It was a fantastic experience, starting with a plethora of any & everything you could want! Their organic produce section is amazing and there are lots of vegan choices throughout the store. Aside from great produce and stories that go with it, the bakery and the make your own burrito window were awesome! The cashiers were energetic and plenty friendly. Definitely will go back next time I'm in town.

You have got to see this store! It has a Whole Foods vibe, but more down to earth. When you first walk in there's an impressive bread selection. I was amused to see "ACME Bread", it reminded me of the Road Runner and Coyote Looney Tunes cartoon. I now know where the Coyote goes shopping. ๐Ÿ˜† I like how the have an assortment of national beands next to smaller regional brands. I've seen one or two items from Spectrum Brands at Walmart, but at Berkeley Bowl I saw a large assortment of food oils from Spectrum, pretty impressive. At first I didn't realize the produce section was divided into "organic" and "conventional". I was having deja vu.....wait, didn't I see sweet potatos and oranges a little while ago? They also have a deli, hot foid, and sushi section. And the meat department also carries the "Flat Iron" cuts that you can't find at mainstream grocery stores. Bring your small car if you plan to park in their parking lot, the slots are narrow. If you must bring an SUV, try parking in their underground parking, the slots are wider. There's a cafe outside facing the main entrance. I forgot to check it out when I exited the store. I need to go back for a second trip just to check it out. ๐Ÿค

A grocery store with a huge amount of variety. Pretty expensive, but it also has things other stores don't, especially when it comes to produce - probably a bigger produce section than any nearby grocery chain. Also, one of their biggest assets is wholesale food, as it's bigger than most competitors with more options like pasta, rice and tea. They're a co-op, and treat their workers better than other grocery stores. That being said, the parking right next to the store is awful, you need to park across the street if you don't want to risk your life in a blind turn down into the garage. As for food, while they have many things other places don't, it goes both ways - they don't have things other grocery stores do. Unsurprisingly, most of the examples of this are processed foods, like certain sodas, chips, and frozen foods. Some more common items like lemon juice aren't sold in large quantities, but rather only in small sizes. Last gripe for me personally is the crowd compared to the size. Here, you're always in the way of someone, there's barely enough room in aisles for two carts to pass each other, so you usually end up placing your cart in the empty areas of produce while you scavenge the more narrow aisles. Basically: this place is great for small grocery trips to find the few things you're missing / a few unique items, or it's good for all your groceries if you have a little extra money to spend and aren't a fan of processed foods.

Excellent customer service from male employee gathering shopping carts (he retrieved a handicapped electric cart for me to use.) Checkers were both very nice. Customer service desk staff was very accommodating as well.

Exceptional grocery store, possibly the best in the Bay Area. Such an extensive selection of fruit, deli, bakery, fish, cheese, and many other items. I've been twice now (unfortunately I don't live nearby), and it's mouth watering and stunning each time.

What else is there but to say that this is the best grocery store on the planet. They have the most amazing selection, the best veggies, tons of dry goods. They have a tiny but powerful Asian foods section, a huge bulk section, lots of spices. Their fish and meat counter is extensive and fresh. Their dairy selection impressive. This is the grocery store of my dreams.

This is my favorite super market in East Bay. They have so many varieties here. I always come here for spinach fresh made pasta and house brand cookie dough and moz cheese. Staff here are always very helpful and friendly too. Highly recommended!

This is an excellent place to purchase fresh produce, including a wide variety of vegetables and fruits. They also offer a diverse selection of grains, making it a one-stop shop for all your grocery needs. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the store is always clean and well-organized. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for high-quality food at reasonable prices.

You can get pretty much any type of grocery item you could want from here. They also have a wonderful selection of cosmetic products (healthy and curated). Itโ€™s a magical store! (Also the free parking lot and garage are a huge bonus). They also have a coffee shop attached to the store. It does get very busy on weekends though but they make it quick at check out. Would definitely recommend this amazing market!

Yes. It can be a zoo, but for good reason. Itโ€™s very hard to beat the selection at Berkeley Bowl โ€” anywhere. In particular the produce on offer is a vast collection that is both awe-inspiring and fascinating. The meat and fish counters are also prolific. Need a random spice for your recipe? Dollars to donuts, theyโ€™ll have it. Itโ€™s one of the great markets of the world. The prices are also very competitive and in a throw back move, the staff is actually knowledgeable. Set aside an hour for your visit.

Really love this market. The staff are consistently and genuinely kind and always very helpful. Their produce here is just excellent and one of the best selections around the area. Best of all, I come here for their fresh and delicious sushi to go. Thereโ€™s also a cafe right across the market which is fantastic. Cheers!

I LOVE this store. Every time I come to the Bay area, I will go there. I spent hours last night looking for wheat berries, and no store had them. Berkeley Bowl had them. It made my day. The store has a fantastic selection of everything. The cheese department is excellent. Cakes, cookies, pastries are all amazing.

Love coming here, pricing is reasonable for quality and is cheaper than other health food stores plus they have an immense selection of items. Literally I can get overwhelmed by the shear number of individual items they have. The mushrooms and pears were so gorgeous last time I was there. Plus they sell my fav bagels ever.

Easily a Chef's dream, I was totally nerding out! I took some pictures; the produce and bulk selection is really where it's at! Mushroom selection is such an attraction, too many apple varieties to pick from, and so many bulk flours and grains. See my pictures... I wish I took pictures of their bulk items, you'll just have to visit :)

Love this place and this location. Love the loaded varieties of fruits and vegetables they carried. They offered tons of locally made products and can't get enough of this place. Prices are reasonable than most local grocery places in the area. This company has served the Berkeley community for decades and can't have enough praise for the company and the staff.

This is a One-Stop shop, although many of the items can be found at lower prices elsewhere. (I'm accustomed to doing my shopping at nationality-specific stores, so it's not saving me a trip unless I only needed one jar of lime pickle or a single package of cookies to round out a dessert table.) The bulk section is ENORMOUS. There's a huge variety of produce and everything I got was fresh. This is not a place for a quick visit! I spent at least an hour here, and could have spent another 2 hours. The pastry case seems very expensive until you realize how much time & energy it would take to make & decorate a chocolate ganache torte, even if you had the equipment.
