First I want to qualify this review by telling you that I’ve had coffee all around the world. It is one of the main reasons why I travel. This coffee place is legitimately at the top of the list! If you want a true Costa Rican coffee experience then you have to come here. The owner, Alberto, gets his beans directly from the farmers and roast them himself! The freshness of the coffee and the quality of the bean from the Tarrazú region is second to none. Also, it is perfectly roasted to bring out all of the best flavors. Most of Costa Rica’s coffee is exported, so it is hard to find a true local coffee shop. Like a true specialty coffee shop, there are multiple brew methods and you can even take a bag of coffee home with you. If you’re looking for environment, La Mancha is centrally located yet tucked away off the busy street with plenty of seating, good music, and kind, attentive staff. Honestly I could go on but you will have to just come for yourself. You will not be disappointed. By the way this post was unsolicited and I am not affiliated with La Mancha. I live in the USA. I just came here on vacation and fell in love with this place.

Great little cafe in the center of San Jose. They even have almond milk which is a huge bonus! We had a vegan latte that was fantastic, and their iced cappuccino, which surprised us that it was sweet, but was still very good. Quite a lot of sketchy individuals coming in and out of the courtyard though. Would have preferred to sit inside. In any case, very enjoyable experience and they dealt with our bad Spanish very well.

Came here for coffee, also got caprese empanada. SO GOOD. 5 stars because I wouldn’t change a single thing. Great job, La Mancha.

Beautiful place, the coffee shop is inside the building. The Cappuccino has a good taste, unfortunately the oat milk was too sweat.

My favorite place in San Jose. Amazing coffee and food, served in very beautiful place by kind people. Separate highlight is a small but well-picked selection of books on sale!

One of the best specialty coffee shops in town. Owner and roaster Alberto Font and his team are very knowledgeable about their coffees and methods and are among the pioneers in the third wave coffee shops in Costa Rica. Terrific espresos, ask for their recommendations on the available beans for the week and the ideal method. Highly recommended

Very good coffee, we had V60 and really liked it. They also have other alternative preparations of coffee. The maracuya cheesecake was so tasty. Nice environment.

Both espresso and cappuccino were perfect. Balanced espresso with floral hints and soft aftertaste. The cappuccino’s temperature was spot on, and the milk-espresso ratio was just right. I also tried the empanada Argentina, it was good. I will revisit and recommend Café La Mancha.

Great cheese cake !!! Good coffee! Fair prices , nice staff and great ambiance. There’s a courtyard shared with other establishments and a stage where bands jam.

Modern coffee shop in a beautiful old arcade. They offer a wide variety of ways to prepare the coffee for you including chemex and aeropress. I had a Corrado that was robust and creamy. Didn't try the food but what other people had looked good.

A hidden gem for coffee lovers in the centre of San Jose. They have their own coffee drinks with very original taste. I tried Henry Blend and could say it was the most unique coffee I ever had. Goes well with their ultra healthy green smoothie juice :) The staff is English speaking if the language barrier is a problem for you. On the top the atmosphere is superb as the place is situated in icon San Jose's building and it is also a small gallery for local talents.

This place is a beautiful sanctuary tucked in among the busy streets of San Jose. It is so peaceful and welcoming. We had the mushroom sandwich and the carrot cake and they were both delicious! The coffee is great too and their wifi is fire. They also have some great art in the back of the shop.

Super nice little place to grab the best Chocolate in Costa Rica. Owners were very accommodating and friendly. They did a little presentation and even let us grind some beans to make the chocolate!

We started our day at this fantastic cafe with a refreshing iced mocha coffee. Located in a hidden courtyard just off the Main Street, this place was an oasis of calm and a coffee-lover’s dream. The cafe is air conditioned inside, and there’s a huge shaded courtyard with seating. And there’s fast free 5G Wi-Fi. Service was excellent and staff spoke some English. And the coffee was excellent!

If you have a little extra time to sit and enjoy some local coffee varieties, this is probably the best in San Jose! They have a very pleasant courtyard and interior design.

Hands down best coffee I had in San Jose! Visited this spot multiple times and the last time I couldn’t help but get all their beans and they were all very delicious.

We stumbled across this place on arriving in San Jose and just had to return the minute we came back to fly out. No coffee that we had during our trip compared to what we had at La Mancha's. We tried the cortado, a selection of cold brews, the mushroom sandwich, Parfait granola and green smoothie on these occasions. The Henry Blend cold brew stood out as the most unique for taking our palates on a complex journey like nothing we'd tasted before in one drink. But all of the rest were just as delicious! Would have all of them over and over again. Also, set in a quiet and cool building that's perfect in the heat of the day. There are other interesting shops in the same location too. Highly recommended!

From my experience, La Mancha is the best spot for specialty coffee in San José central. When friends come to visit, I take them there for good coffee. When I need to get work done, I go there for good coffee. I really value that they offer space for both work and social time. It's a beautiful and safe place in the middle of the busy city with kind staff that know their coffee well. Try an espresso and the banana cake!

Oh my goodness! We stopped here to enjoy some chilled coffee drinks at the end of our walking tour with our guide Alejandro. We love coffee and have enjoyed many of the quality coffee that San Jose has to offer but if you skip this place you are really missing out on some masterpieces of Costa Rican coffee that I am quite sure you won't find anywhere else.

This place was great. We ordered the afogado and a local tea/cold brew blend and both were delicious. We also ordered the turkey sandwich and its ingredients were very fresh! Highly recommend this place for its exceptional quality, service, and atmosphere!

Best coffee in the neighborhood, hands down. Alberto the owner is a passionate barista who will kindly explain the different ways to prepare coffee. You can choose from a large variety of devices and techniques, all available at the place. They also offer good argentinean empanadas and a variety of sweet treats. 100% recommended.

Lovely artisan coffee shop in downtown San Jose. Setback from the busy streets. It felt like an oasis with a cooling melon smoothie and cold brew coffee. Super friendly staff or owner. He speaks fluent English! The straw is biodegradable which is becoming more and more important for environmental protection nowadays.

A nice spot around the crowded street. The staff was friendly and attentive. Coffee was delicious and a nice "capresa" sandwich.
